A torch ignited as Kaori, still dressed in the long and warm trench-coat, found herself in a large and damp cavern. The sounds of water dripping from the ceiling reverberating through the cavern was prominent; echoing with each drip, sounding like an explosion each time a drop hit the surface of a shallow pool. Kaori moved her torch upwards to see the source of the dripping with stalactites being the source of the noise. Her nerves were high as she walked into the mouth of the cavern to see the tight opening, barely big enough for Kaori to comfortably walk through, open up to a massive subterranean world. Kaori made a noise to listen to the acoustics. Her voice bounced off various walls hearing her noise enter her ears several times. The large cavern was dimly lit with blow luminescent stones prompting her to extinguish and replace her torch. There was enough light for her to navigate the massive cavern with the glowing stones for the torch to be deemed ineffective.
After putting the torch away, Kaori raised her head at the sound of a distant roar. This was beyond something she had heard before. The hairs on her arms and the back of her neck started to stand on-end as she carefully moved through the cave. Footsteps interrupted shallow puddles with her clinging to the light of the stones as she sallyforthed. She walked through to the other side of the massive cavern to find herself entering a man-made stone hallway. She entered the hallway and there was something strange with this hallway. Unlike the cavern and the outside, this hallway had warmth. Where the warmth was coming from was a mystery to her. The ground, walls, and ceiling were lined with weathered bricks, smoothed by erosion and a line going down the center of the walkway made up of something glowing; possibly made out of the same thing that those glowing blue stones were. She continued down this hallway before it opened up into a massive underground complex.
The complex looked extremely modern, betraying the wear-and-tear of time upon it. The place was seemingly abandoned and partially submerged underwater. The walls of the complex had ancient cave drawings depicting large beasts with many people fighting it. The art was primitive, primordial even, appearing to date to the beginning of man. It wasn't just the strange cave art that caught Kaori's interest as she walked through it, but some of the architecture and other marvels. There were aqueducts or waste-disposal lines lining the side of the 'streets' with some of their stone covers shattered or caved in. There were large lanes floating above the large complex supported by pillars, which she believed to be the actual aqueduct system. Everything she saw was fascinating! Just witnessing this marvel caused her movement through the complex to slow down as she took in the splendors.
She made her way through the winding streets, seeing remnants of pottery and other signs of life. The further she went through the complex, the more she noticed that the magnificent structures started to break down. As she walked towards, what she thought to be the village square, she noticed the buildings beginning to look like a warzone with buildings destroyed and others suffering from intense damage. This, definitely, wasn't something that was caused by erosion or the passage of time, there was a tragedy that happened here. Upon reaching the village square, Kaori raised a hand up to her lips and gasped. There were a pile of skeletons gathered and scattered around the village square. In the mixture of this scene of megadeath, there was another set of bones that were larger. The larger set of bones were that of a massive lizard.
Kaori scowled as the center of the village bore a dragon statue, similar to the ones she had hunted down, standing proudly as a fountain in the village square. The statue was worn and weathered with the color black splashing one side of the monument. This was the color of dried blood. She placed a hand upon the statue to feel if there was a demonic presence within only to feel nothing residing in the statue. "So, the demon of this statue passed on. But what caused this mayhem? Did they summon a god to kill the demon inside or did the demon summon the god?" she asked before another, much louder roar could be heard. Her eyes darted towards the great primal's remains before turning her attention towards the exit of this massive complex.
She complied with the demand to head towards the massive tree, only to see a shimenawa wrapped around the base of the monstrous tree. Joy and wonder turned to mystery as she noticed the rope wrapped tightly around the living being. After being pushed towards the tree by the balls of light, she was stopped just before the land ended and the deep pool of pristine water began. "A yorishiro?" she asked herself before clearing her throat and stepped out into the water, letting her chakra keep her above the surface. After taking several steps inward, she stopped and dropped down to her knees and bowed deeply to the tree. "Thank you, Guardian Tree, for allowing me safe passage through the cave," Kaori said, speaking to the holy tree, pausing her words until after she stood back up into a standing posture.
Kaori clasped her hands together and spoke to the tree in a calm and level voice. "Guardian Tree, please hear my voice. I have come from far to seek out help. A sister of mine, or someone I see as my older sister, requires assistance. I beseech you to lend me assistance," Kaori said in prayer to the Guardian Tree before a loud roar, the one she had heard upon entering the cave, shot out crystal clear, causing her to break her concentration.

Fear started to grip her. The sound of the primordial monster came from the direction she was headed. She made haste towards the exit, bearing witness to buildings being toppled over and the village bearing the scars of massive claws and massive bite-marks. Upon exiting the complex, there was a bright light that illuminated the exit. Upon reaching the exit of the complex, she found herself before a massive tree in an even more massive cave. The tree gave off a pale blue light with motes of the same floating around it. A pool of water could be seen around the tree. The man-made structures that she had witnessed also faded to a more primal, natural setting. The motes of blue light started to dance around Kaori, causing a smile to come across her face and joy to fill her. She looked around herself and felt that the motes of light was trying to guide her to the tree. She complied with the demand to head towards the massive tree, only to see a shimenawa wrapped around the base of the monstrous tree.
