Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

A soft patter of feet, almost soundless, rushed through the high grass with such speeds that the tips of the green blades whipped about; cutting each other down in the wake of the woman’s passage. Her head was low, long green hair bundled up into a sizable bun as her legs darted beneath her with a primal beat. Lines zig-zagged through the rugged marshlands as the kunoichi’s prey knew something was hunting it.

The first of the two figures burst from the tall grass. Ryuu Rei, ex-sennin of Kumogakure flew from the weeds and turned abruptly her arms thrown wide. The band of wire holding her hair up snapped as if on cue, wild long green hair filling the air as the centrifugal force pulled it away. In the next second, another figure broke free of the bladed greens. Jaws agape, running on two legs, a horribly wide and muscular Lycan snarled in their approach to the woman who was easily twice as small. It was unclear who was hunting who.

At least, until the snapping of branches tore through the air and the ground. Before the wolf-man could reach Rei’s neck, his snapping jaws just barely six inches from her nose, black thorned tree roots snapped up around the enormous creature. The more it struggled, the more it bled, and with a haughty stare the woman stared the lycan down with a blistering red pupil until it finally went still. With a twitch of her fingers the black vines holding the wolf tightened and wove around it’s maw before laying the beast down at her feet.

The ex-Sennin didn’t even seem to be out of breath. With quick hands her hair was once more bound up before retrieving medical grade latex gloves from the pouch where most shinobi would keep kunai. She approached the beast with the same calm superiority she had hunted it with, before kneeling down to touch the beast’s neck - feeling for a pulse.

Yes, this’ll do…do just fine.

Rei reached back into that same pouch to withdraw a needle filled with a deep purple fluid. She pulled the cap off with her teeth as the other hand caressed the near-dead beast’s neck until she found a vein. With a swift and practiced hand, the needle slid into the creature’s neck. A uncanny feeling, the needle piercing skin, brought the lycan’s conscious back to reality. It attempted to struggle against the doctor, but with barely a twitch of her pinky the black branches simply tightened a little more. The needle drew a small amount of blood, then down went the plunger.

As the purple fluids flew through the werewolf’s veins, it began to contort itself against the rigidity of the thorned vines. A guttural howl of pain and misery ripped through the air as the beast’s hair began to fall off. Legs snapped back, the forward again. It’s arms appeared to shatter and realign itself. Their snout seemed to shatter and reform their skull into something more human shaped. All the while a glowing purple aura reveled the exact location of their vascular network, to which the kunoichi kept a steady red eye on. Once the glowing fluid outlined the beast’s heart, she gave it a strike with a quickly focused ball of chakra that pulled all of the fluid she had pumped into the creature, back out. With a wrist flick the purple gelatin-like substance splattered against the ground.

Forming a full seal with two hands the doctor bid a small piece of her chakra into the ground to change the color of the black barbs into a soft golden brown. Jade green energy silhouetted the creature trapped within and faded away nearly as fast as it came. The vines lifted away to reveal a naked man laying before the old Sennin. Her hand touched a small jewel on her ear,
Clear.

A small group of five shinobi in the neutral colors of white appeared on the battlefield around Rei, each quickly taking to a task to stabilize the man. It was the closest thing they had to a cure to the lycan disease ravishing their country…but it wasn’t perfect. So far, what she had manged to cobble together was a repressor. It kept the virus at bay, and from activating - but it was still far from a perfect cure. She theorized that if she could get her hands on a lycan that managed to retain their humanity, she could synthesize something something greater. There was also the secondary problem that not every turned werewolf retained their minds - which was what made hard for this cure.

Still, it was better than nothing. Now came the second problem. Transporting the cured back into Kumogakure while avoiding other lycans that came from the same pack. The cure was a one shot and didn’t do well outside of the fridge for too long. To keep these people inoculated, they needed to stay in Kumogakure…something their families didn’t take well to.

Okay everyone, quickly now. We only have 24 hours before second dose or he goes back to wolf. Lets move.

It had been a while since Kazan found relief from the village and his new duties. The title of Sennin had come with such a burdensome load, that he found himself somewhat distraught and lost amongst his paper work. His newest pupil seemed to somewhat disappear into the background, no doubt practicing and thoroughly engulfing himself into life as a Shinobi. Still, this moment wasn't about any of that. Rumors, sightings, and tales of mythical, or more so supernatural, beast were once again on the rise. He had missed his chance last time, but this would be a prime opportunity at a first hand experience.

Deep within the heartland, the place where his life changed a fateful day, Kazan was once against set out into the wilderness. Now more than ever, he felt a home; this land was blessed with natural energy. None the less, his camp was set by the river, just outside of the bush lines. Warewolfs? lycans? Or perhaps even just a rogue beast mistaken for something else. Whatever this this was, he wasn't going to make it easy for it if it just so happen to find him first. As a precaution, while his camp was clearly established, Kazan was resting on a tree limb overlooking the river. His scarlet red eyes focused on the trotline he had previously placed, he simply waited... until he heard the echo's of a howl.

Glancing off into the direction of the howl, he noticed birds flying frantically as if they were spooked. This wasn't a wolf, or maybe it was. He wasn't sure, but he was intrigued. Rising from his resting position, he jumped from one branch to another; Kazan wanted to stay high within the trees, as to no spread his scent amongst the forest. Within several seconds, he came upon the source of the commotion. A woman, a naked man, and what appeared to be a group of shinobi dressed somewhat like medical ninja. Confused at first, he wondered what exactly was going on here.

So of course, being who he was, he simply made his presence known and asked. Shouting from the treeline, roughly twenty feet above, he spoke. "What's going on here? This a mission from the village or.... what? What about that howl I heard. That fella okay?" He asked them, before jumping from the tree branch down to the ground. Kazan's was in no way threatening, although his attire seemed odd at best for this forest. After all, he was in his black and gold armor, with the black feathered shoulder guards and red cape. At his beltline, the symbol of Kumogakure was cleared engraved upon his buckle.

Kazan's Apperance

Rei’s head perked up at the sound of a set of armor dropping to the ground without it being as…loud, as it should have been. She turned her ruby eyes towards the figure near the trees, and felt the hair on the back of her neck stand up. The feral instincts inside told her he was powerful. Not a lot of people could move around so calmly with so much armor - far more than she had ever seen anyone wear before - but just as obvious to the ex-sennin was the man’s presence. She felt like she was staring down a mountain bear slowly lumbering its way towards her team’s position. With a raised hand she gave them a signal, and the medical professionals took a defensive stance around the inoculated lycan.

She had been gone, and had done little to no research on what had changed in the government in her time away. Calmly, and with intent, Rei walked up to the man who had replaced her to meet him half-way. A measure to keep him from getting to close to her patient, or her team. This was just par for the course when it came to the green-haired stick-bug of a kunoichi; a bad habit from having been a spy master for too long.

Upon reaching the middle ground between the two of them, the veteran kunoichi was able to quickly determine two things. The first was an irritating air of calm. Kazan gave off not even a single mote of bloodlust or violence, which struck her odd as a man dressed in the ways Tenounzan generals. Secondly, she knew from a single whiff of his scent that he could cross the gap and slaughter her whole team before she’d have a chance to do anything meaningful to stop it - a weakness that sat ill in her stomach. Before her vanishing into another world, Rei could have manifested an entire house for them to sit down, have tea in, and discuss why an armored bear was living out in the wilds; not any more, she was woefully reminded in Kazan’s presence.

Thankfully, his questions had simple answers.

That’s correct,” she replied, her ruby gaze looking up to meet the eyes of a man a whole foot taller than her. “Kitsu-, I mean, the Raikage, has synthesized a temporary cure for the Lycan Disease. I’m carrying out orders to collect and cure any werewolves near Kumo herself and place them into quarantine until we can create an actual cure; which, rounding up and inoculating is a part of,” her eyes broke contact with Kazan’s for a brief second to glance back at the team and naked man they were protecting, “The patient’s status, however, remains to be seen. Physically he’ll be fine. Mentally? Depends how long he was afflicted. Right now though we’re on a time limit to get him back to the village. We can keep the Lycans from wolfin’ out so long as they’re able to get their monthly treatments on time.

The snap of a twig and deadly silence that filled the air caught Rei’s sudden attention. She was clearly distracted in that one moment, her nose twitching slightly with her mouth open just so; the act of a predator smelling competition.
How’s about we take this conversation on the road, eh?” she spoke up after what seemed like an eternity of silence, “When we turn the Lycans back human, the other Lycans don’t take kindly to it - and we only carry two vaccines at any given time. Given your size, your…attire, and your location in approaching us I can only assume you’re familiar with tangling with the local fauna. Care to help out?

Another twig snap, and it was clear that the medical specialist was getting nervous.

As he approached, his eyes flickered towards the woman's hand sign as the others formed a defensive position around the injured person. "Hmmm." He thought, as the apparent leader of the group slowly approached him. "Cautious.." He thought, noticing the distinctive measures this woman was taking. No doubt about it, this woman before him was at the very least an experienced Kunoichi. For a brief second, the air between them stood still before she spoke. This woman had pretty much told him he was right, his question was one that could have easily lead the conversation in that direction.

Though, his suspicion was quickly squashed as she went about nearly addressing the Raikage by name, instead of by title, before correcting herself. A sense of ease fell upon him, as he listened and thought about what was being said. Then it dawned on him; Kazan had failed to read his intelligence packets provided by the Raikage. He had originally intended to hunt these 'lycan', but the sudden realization of them being people infected with some disease echoed in the back of his head. "Well... at least I know now..." He thought to himself, while he remained silent.

Truth was, he was at odds with the situation. The prospect of fighting a new beast and testing his skills had drawn him out here, but now knowing the truth, his heart kind of sank in his chest. Gritting his teeth, out of disappointment in himself, he nodded in acknowledgement of what she had been telling him. To him, it made sense and he had been through stranger. Though, he would take this woman and her group on their words for now. He had no reason, or intel to think they were up to anything and if they wanted to return an injured citizen to the village, then by all means he'd see it through.

Before speaking, however, an eerie snap of a branch would catch his attention as well as this woman in front of him. Glancing to look, he heard her speak about taking this on the road. "Heading out is probably for the best right now." He replied, as he turned to the left. While this woman continued to explain about how the other Lycans reacted to one of their own being turned, and how they only had two cures at any given time, his brow would raise. "I don't want to pretend to understand, but having a group this large with only two vaccines seems kind of dumb to me. I'm sure Lady Kitsune has her reasons though." Raising both his hands up, he clapped before quickly kneeling down and slamming his hand onto the group.

Summoning symbols would form upon the ground, as white smoke popped seemingly out of nowhere. As the dust settled, a short but chubby eagle would appear; quickly it would hop onto Kazan's shoulder as he raised his hand up to the sky and pointed. "Pudges, I need you to scout ahead. There's some strange beast roaming these woods that carry some infectious disease. If you spot something through the treetops, give us a heads up." He shouted, as pudges would nod and take flight high above. Glancing back towards the woman, he nodded towards her in acknowledgement. "I'm ready if you are. Oh, and my name is Akira Kazan." He told the woman, introducing himself.

His name was tied to a number of things within the village, but most recently it would be for taking on the mantle of Main Branch Sennin. Hijacking the villages communications as well, but that was a different time and story.
