Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Prologue — Academy Days
YkY16By.png

Several sharp scratches sounded out in one of the academy's classrooms as a dark-skinned young man in typical Konoha shinobi attire finished underlining a message he had written in big bold letters on the chalkboard. His dark hair was pushed upwards in a bristly manner due to his Konoha forehead protector, and he wore his signature rounded shades over his eyes. This particular piece of chalk was worn down to a nub after his minute or two of hard work, and once he set the spent utensil down on the tray he took a step back to admire his work. "Man my handwriting's awful." It was true. Chicken scratch was putting it lightly but it served its purpose he supposed. I mean it was legible at the very least so that was a start.

That is until it was time to file reports... he was always having to re-pen things for his superiors. Always nitpicking. Such a nuisance.

Anyway, the class would seem rather rowdy to those who had never taken part in once of his lessons but the truth is it was no more chaotic than usual. Some kids laughed in the back of the room, others threw paper balls, and only the select few studious children actually took the time to read over their class scrolls or get a jump start on their homework. It was a mild chaos sure, but somewhat contained at least for now. It would seem that they were still waiting on a few final arrivals. They weren't late yet but it was coming down to the wire of start time for today. Good news was that for once he was actually prepared. Already had his big lecture planned out and everything. 'The Ins and Outs of Chakra: A Close Study' he called it. Beautiful. Such an enthralling topic and definitely not too wordy and boring for academy students. The kids were gonna love it.

Just a brief review of the Shinobi Rules and then a lot of talking accompanied by note-taking from his audience. What wasn't there to like? The chūnin turned around to face the class and examined them all from behind his rounded sunglasses. So youthful. So full of life. Nostalgia had been rearing its problematic head a lot lately and seeing all these rambunctious academy students running around only furthered that feeling. He couldn't help but remember all the hijinks he used to have when he was their age. It also reminded him of the comrades who were no longer with him. Those he had lost along the way. He hoped this new generation wouldn't have to experience the same kind of tumultuous upbringing he had. But in this Shinobi World oftentimes death was the only certain thing. That's why as much as he hated responsibility in general, he had to make sure these fledgling ninja were ready for whatever was to come. And why he worked so tirelessly on his speech! Now he just had to wait for the rest of the class to show up.

Welcome gang! Post your entrances and let's get this show on the road. I'll say the 72hr. rule goes into effect after intro posts since Shishi may not be able to reply for a few days and Gaki may join as well. But after this first round of posts beware of strikes!

The same routine, day in and day out. Wake up before the sun rises, finish breakfast, clean his room, and finally check and oil his blade. He let out a sigh as he finished his routine before stepping through the door as his mother shouted something sweet and encouraging. He honestly didn't care what she was saying as she was mostly an embarrassment. She didn't graduate until she was 13 and didn't make Chuunin until her late twenties or early thirties, he wasn't sure, nor did he really care. The streets were bustling with the day-to-day merchants and errand runners. Passing through them Shusuke would try and continue to practice his technique of subtly lacing Genjutsu through every action he took. Laying the murmurs of voices with the crowd's banter was a simple task and he felt like he could throw the few bystanders off guard by whispering phrases like "excuse me" or "behind you" through his use of the Yamanaka Genjutsu prowess.

Instant Migraine. The blonde walked through the doorway into the classroom he was supposed to be at today and all he could hear were the sounds of crazed children. His pupilless blue eyes scanned the room and looked to his sensei, Daiji. A single brow raised as if to say "Really...?" Running his fingers through his hair the blonde young boy pulled the majority of his hair into a small ponytail, hopefully this class had some action involved and wasn't just sitting around talking about how water could put out fire in case of an emergency.

A few steps and the young boy would find his way into the seat where he would finally look around to see if he recognized anyone attending this class. A few seconds passed before he just closed his eyes and rubbed his temples. "This is going to be a long day isn't it?"

A giggle came from the back of the classroom as Yuki slammed her hands onto the desk behind her own as she continued her story. A rich and hearty laugh came from her as she wiped a tear from her eye. "And that's-that's when his dad came in! He was all like `Who said you could come in here?` Her hand clinched into a fist as she began to pummel the desk before her. "So, like I just looked at him... Hahaha! And like I had what had to have been half of a fish hanging out of my mouth-" She began to wheeze, gasping for air. "So like I was just staring at him and pointed at myself before swallowing the mouthful of food I had." Her laughter was contagious and boisterous, almost seeming to echo in the room. "I full on just said `Who died and left you in charge?` and I proceeded to just duck under the table and book it. You should have seen the look on his face! I had like two other fish in my hands, but hey I was hungry! What do you want for me? Momma gets hangry!"

Yuki was rambling on. She was wearing her typical long robe and oversized hat that made her look like a cliche witch, but that's what you would expect from her.

“Oh no— please don’t be late. Please don’t be late!” A young boy pleaded to himself as he ran through the streets of Konoha. He ushered a few apologies of, “Sorry, sir!” and “Excuse me, ma’am!” as he narrowly avoided running into his fellow villagers.

‘Oh, come on Rikku! Mom’s gonna kill ya if she finds out you were late again.’ He berated himself, already envisioning the lecture he would get when his parents returned from their mission. Rikku had simply forgotten to set his alarm the night before, and now he was paying for for those extra few minutes of sleep.

Rikku made way for the ninja academy, booking it down every corner until he finally arrived. Out of breath, he entered the classroom with such incredibly fake composure. Rikku glanced around the room, seeing a perfect spot towards the front and middle of the class. He let out a breathy sigh before sitting down at the bench.

The board undoubtedly caught his attention with the word “SURVIVE” written so largely across it. It took up nearly the whole board. Rikku deducted it would very very likely be a primary topic for the day. After all, what good was being a ninja if you couldn’t live long enough to do anything.

Rikku sat comfortably, ears peeking up at the various conversations of his peers. The girl behind him had apparently stolen someone’s fish. That was definitely an interesting story to be hearing out of nowhere, but he found it entertaining as he waited for class to officially start.

Thankfully this time around he set his alarm an hour earlier, double and triple checked to make sure it was set to the correct time and quadruple checked the time he actually set the alarm for. Comically enough he woke up five minutes before his alarm had even got a chance to make a peep. A brisk, cold shower that proceeded his normal hot shower jolted his system awake. He heard it was good for the body and mind or something like that.

Dressed to impress Shishiwakamaru strolled into the classroom. The very first thing he noticed was the massive description on the chalkboard saying "SURVIVE". With a near-audible gulp he tried to think of what that could possibly mean. Shaking his head of the fearful thoughts he looked around the class to see if there was someone he knew. Two for sure, both of which he could probably never forget. One that drew away your troubles onto himself, the other with her massive hat that could probably fit a few students on if it could support the weight. "Ohayo!" Shishiwakamaru would wave towards Shusuke and Yuki. Though Shusuke's eyes were closed and Yuki was being a social butterfly. They probably didn't notice him. With uncertainty weighing on his mind he slowly shuffled around trying to figure out where he was going to sit. It seemed like he had some time before class actually started.

"Alright, settle down kids." he cooed to the class, a few familiar faces joining as he spoke along with some he had never seen before. Notably the ever confident Shusuke and the clumsy Nara boy, Shishiwakamaru. His discerning gaze passed over the blonde-haired Genjutsu user, a smirk flashing across his face as overheard his griping. And then to Shishi as he entered, the older shinobi giving the boy a nod of acknowledgement as he took his seat. Two more caught his eye those being a girl in a large hat and a boy with a similar complexion to his own. The rest of the students he knew. "First up's a lecture 'The Ins and Outs of Chakra: A Close Study'." Almost immediately several groans sounded out in unison causing the instructor to gesture with his hand to 'quiet down'. "But before that we'll review the Shinobi Rules." He picked up the nub of chalk and tapped a few times at the edge of his masterpiece on the blackboard.

A noticeable glint reflected off of his sunglasses and drew his gaze towards the back of the room as he spoke. "Shinobi Rule Num-- GET DOWN!" In a flash he was over the podium, tossing a student who had just closed the door behind him out of the way as several kunai spliced through the air. All of them made impact with his torso in a tight grouping, one, two, three, four, five!-- riddling the chūnin with knives and drawing blood as he stumbled backwards into the wooden stand. His shades slid low on the bridge of his nose, revealing his dark eyes which slowly started to fade. Crimson liquid spattered his face and the blackboard. It leaked down the front of his body as he slumped to the floor, back against the podium. Silence followed.

Of the deafening kind. The children if they looked around would see nothing at all. No enemy. No hidden trap accidentally sprung. Moments later, the door to the classroom slammed open seemingly by itself. And then? Nothing. Blood pooled around Daiji's collapsed figure his unmoving form all but confirming what everyone was likely to be thinking. A girl near the back of the room opened her mouth as if to scream but just then, the blaring sound of feedback cut through the silence as the academy speakers clicked to life.

"Students of Konohagakure..." a deep, even voice menaced through the devices fixed to the ceiling. "Your sensei, member of that accursed Gotō clan chose the wrong target in his Bingo Book." A brief paused followed by the crackling of electricity followed this statement. "He foolishly thought he could track me down... I found him first." A few of the students looked around at each other, mouths agape an in utter confusion. The boy who had been tossed out of the way of the attack at the last second stared on in horror at Daiji as tears silently streamed down his face. "Look out of your classroom window."

NoX3qh2.png

If they did the children would spot eight figures, all garbed in dark shinobi attire except for one in the middle who wore dark robes and a porcelain white mask in the shape of what appeared to be some kind of bird. Its hands were clasped together in a Hitsuji seal, signaling the usage of some jutsu. Crescent moons were emblazoned on their forehead protectors. "We are shinobi of Tsukigakure." From appearance alone the students would be able to tell that these were no fledgling ninja such as themselves. "Your classmates, your instructors... all slain." Outside in the hallway was nothing but dead air. Not a peep from any of the adjacent classrooms either. "If you step foot outside the building you will be slain. If you hide you will be slain. If you fight... you will be slain" The disembodied voice oozed malice but it almost sounded proper. Maybe like this wasn't the first time it had done something like this. "The choice is yours." With that the robed figure dropped their hands, the speakers clicked off and the silence returned. The Moon ninja all took off with incredible speed.

Most of the children were too stunned to speak or even make a sound. Back in the room a pocket on Daiji's flak jacket was unclasped, a rectangular shape barely visible underneath the padding. The door to the classroom remained open. Highly trained enemies were afoot and could be anywhere. What would they do? What could they?

Rikku’s attention redirected from the girl behind him to their instructor as he spoke up. Groans came from his neighbors as Daiji began to explain his planned curriculum. Just as soon as class had begun, the scene had shifted. Kunai flew through the window. Their instructor sat slumped against their podium. Shock filled the room. It had only been a few seconds, what on Earth was happening?

At Daiji’s first yell Rikku obeyed, letting himself fall into the space under the long shared desk. He couldn’t help but hold his breath, hands covering his head as the silence grew louder and louder.

The intercom snapped him to attention, his eyes wide but starting to really take in his surroundings. After it switched off, Rikku slowly moved towards the center aisle, following along the underside of the desk.

He looked around at his classmates and gritted his teeth. What were they supposed to do? A bunch of ten-year-olds, twelve at most? A bunch of kids? Keeping low he would maneuver his way down the center aisle until reaching the front to better investigate their instructor without bringing himself into plain view.

Rikku fought the tears that welled in his eyes as he forced himself to witness this up close and personal. He wasn’t foreign to the concept; his parents faced this risk every day after all.

Rikku looked around at his classmates up in the front and took a deep breath. “Is everyone else okay?” He asked in a shaky whisper. He sure hoped so, because what was he going to do otherwise?

Shusuke opened an eye when he heard a familiar voice. No matter where the young Yamanaka went it seemed like this Nara child was always going to show up. The normally anti-children Shusuke grinned a little bit and adjusted in his seat to gesture for Shishiwakamaru to come sit beside him. This kid was afterall the closest thing to a friend Shusuke had, and if fate has decided anything the Yamanaka and Nara clans were of sister souls. "Seems like we can't get rid of each other, eh?" Shusuke wasn't really paying attention to Daiji-Sensei, especially once he was introducing the topic of the day as Chakra Control. As a Genjutu focused individual this was almost second nature him, or at least he claims it was. "Hey... About the other day at the hosp-"

Everything quickly changed perspective and Shusukue's apology to Shishiwakamaru no longer mattered. Kunai sunk into Daiji's chest, Shusuke's eyes darted towards the direction they came from. A series of enemy shinobi had arrived. Shusuke instantly darted towards Daiji-Sensei. "Does anyone else know Medical Ninjutsu?" As he spoke the boy looked over Daiji's situation and realized he was going to have to act. "Lightning Style: Elemental Clone Jutsu" A series of sparks would summon forth three identical replicas of Shusuke each holding their own blade. These clones weren't able to replicate his lightning jutsu, but they were able to use their blades almost as effectively as he could. The big tradeoff is that if the clones were to be dispered they would electrocute anyone that is within reach.

"Shishiwakamaru! What should we do?" Shusuke didn't know how to lead a group of children. His clones darted across the room. One landed by Yuki, one near Shishiwakamaru, and one near Rikku. He nodded towards the group and looked at Daiji-Sensei. "Ninja Art: Mystical Hands Jutsu" His hands began to glow green. Placing a palm onto Daiji-Sensei's chest he pulled out the first kunai and slid his hand over the wound and applied pressure to help heal the wounds. "Daiji-Sensei, please be okay. I don't think I am strong enough to protect everyone. I am not built to defend; I am a diversion at best." Shusuke's eyes quickly scanned over the older man, his eyes looking for any tell, any detail that would tell him that this was all a lie. This was just a genjutsu right? But why couldn't he see through this?

Everything happened so quick, and she wasn't really sure what it was that happened. She thought she was sitting in her class to learn something about chakra but before she learned anything the sensei dropped, and enemy shinobi were outside of the windows! She began to hyperventilate; she didn't know what to do! As she began to look around the room her outline glistened slightly as spiritual energy began to manifest around her. Small wisps began to form from the pure spiritual energy the young priestess held and manifested into unique Onmyodo Talismans. Droppping to the ground the girl would crawl under her desk and tried to think of a way through this, that was until she realized the door was still open.

Instantly one of the talismans flew to the doorway and attached itself to the inside of the upper most portion of the frame. Her eyes lit up with both excitement and confusion, she had never seen anything like that happen before. Looking down she saw that her broom was also beginning to shimmer ever so slightly with spiritual energy. She grinned. Looking up to the clone of Shusuke she said, "I can't use Medical Ninjutsu, but I am loud!" She quickl darted out fom her desk and ran down the pathway that led to the door.

"Move away from the door, it will explode if anyone but me comes back through it! Stay safe! I am going to go get help!"

The young girl turned the corner of the door and was in the hallway, she had her broom in hand and was ready to beat the absolute snot out of anyone who dared cross her path as she tried to make her way to the front entrance of the academy. She knew she had a good few swings in her, and if anyone decided to fight back her broom was big enough to stop the shuriken from hitting her!

With a playful smile Shusuke invited him to sit beside him. The notion of this surprised him as he wasn't entirely sure where he stood with this kid. Their interactions have been mixed, but overall peaceful. He had an aura about him that said to Shishi 'I'm only a nuisance because I want to be seen'. He could empathize with this notion as he too just wanted to be seen. With no family anymore, due to the terrorist attack on the gates killing his father, he longed for connection, he felt so alone in this world. But not all was bleak and depressing! He was starting to make acquaintances, which is a critical first step towards friendship. "Seems like we can't get rid of each other, eh?" Taking a seat next to Shusuke he would give him a friendly smile with his response. "I know, right? I promise I'm not stalking you." A light jest to ease whatever tension might be lurking behind either one's subconscious. He would laugh a little at his own joke before pulling out a compilation notebook and two pre-sharpened pencils. He would lay them neatly, and parallel to each other. Thereafter Daiji-sensei announced the topic of the day. Under his breath he would whisper; "Yes!" This was absolutely perfect. Understanding chakra was something he struggled with, he was at a huge disadvantage from most of these other kids. His father never bothered to teach him anything, so this was all new and exciting for him.

As the instructor said they would first go over the shinobi rules Shusuke would pull his attentions away from the teacher. "Hey... About the other day at the hosp-" But before he could finish his thought Daiji-sensei would yell out, startling Shishiwakamaru in the process. "GET DOWN!" Having been so shocked from the entire ordeal he froze instead of taking cover. With eyes as large as saucer plates he sat there helplessly as he witnessed their instructor save a life, but being critically injured in the process. The sight of blood, in this dire situation, made him want to vomit. Clasping both hands over his mouth it would take a great deal of effort to keep himself from hurling. And then silence screamed throughout the room as Daiji-sensei layed motionless, blood still pouring from his wounds into a pool below him.

Nearly jumping two feet in the air out of his seat, the door busting open with no source scared the living daylights out of him. It was moments like this that reminded him that perhaps he wasn't cutout for the shinobi life. Practically scared of his own shadow, the sight of blood making him queasy, how the hell would he ever make Med-nin?! Still he sat there frozen in fear while the courageous Shusuke took action and bolted towards Daiji. It was his next sentence that shook him from his flight/fight/freeze state. "Does anyone else know Medical Ninjutsu?" Shishiwakamaru's brows furrowed in confusion, didn't Shusuke know some medical jutsu?

Shusuke performed another impressive technique for a student and was able to summon three clones of himself. He stationed them variously throughout the room. A faint glow would catch his eye, the young girl he had ran into the other day just outside the school was starting to glow. Was he the only kid here that didn't know how to do anything?! Shishiwakamaru's head began to spin as a sinister voice resounded through the school's PA system. He would, of course, make his way to the window, as many other students did, and saw the large group of bad guys, or at least they certainly looked like it. Could these be the same ones that killed his father? A burning welled up from within, was this hatred, or perhaps courage taking form, masquerading as vengeance? He didn't know for sure, but he couldn't just keep standing around doing nothing. That would just eventually lead to his own death, he refused to let them do what they did to his father to himself. Why did people become so corrupted and evil like this, to assault a school full of children? Cowards!

"Shishiwakamaru! What should we do?" Shishiwakamaru's heart would thud violently in response to this question. What should we do? Why was he asking him? Shusuke was probably the most advanced student here, surely he would know something. Before he could think, let alone formulate some sort of plan, Yuki would take command of her situation and acted. "Move away from the door, it will explode if anyone but me comes back through it! Stay safe! I am going to go get help!" With an streteched out arm he would attempt to call Yuki back. "Wait! We shouldn't..." And then she was gone. "Split up..." His arm fell to his side in defeat, his fist clenching tightly. Yuki was as good as dead out there all alone against those guys. It was one thing to go up against two or three other shinobi, but you would have to be an incredible fighter to even stand a chance. Yuki was but a child, going up against even one of those adult ninja would spell certain doom!

For a Nara he was a dunce, he wasn't entirely all that smart, he couldn't even manipulate shadows. But if Shusuke wasn't up to the task, and Yuki and already disappeared, and the rest of the class unsure of what to do, Shishiwakamaru would have no other choice but to take charge, as best he could. First he needed to assess the other children. He had a fair idea of what Shusuke was about. He knew that he was quite skilled in genjutsu and had a thing for lightning jutsu, and a side of medical jutsu. Yuki was a complete mystery, but she was already gone anyway. There was another kid that spoke up asking if everyone was alright, he didn't know anyone else here or what they could possibly do. And then there was himself, essentially a shinobi paperweight who happened to read a book about puppets and "tried" to practice with them. Great...

So the thing is... They all believe this to be the real deal and not some over the top lesson in survival. So whatever actions they took next the responsibility would lay fully on their sensei. Thankfully, for him, he's probably dead or close to it. Chances are he won't get reprimanded to harshly for whatever he left his students to do. Shishiwakamaru would walk over to the chalkboard and picked at the edges. "I think we can pull this off. It's not much but it's the least we can do. Quick, everyone find anything that's not bolted down and start barricading the windows. We're up against some serious danger, I'm sure they can climb up a simple wall. If they get in here, we're as good as dead." A frightening concept to be sure, but it was the truth. Sometimes it was harsh and hurt, that's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. Pulling a yardstick from the teacher's desk area he would place it on the edge of the chalkboard and tried to pry it off. But the tool was weak and snapped almost instantly. He had noticed Shusuke had an actual weapon, made of metal probably. That would do. "Shusuke, help me get this off the wall so we can use it to seal off the windows!" What might have sounded like yelling was really just panic trying to pretend to be leadership. Inside he was frightened to the core and was desperately looking for any path they could take and survive. Hopefully the rest of the class followed suit and started doing as they were told.

Fear. Panic. Flight.

Common responses to life or death situations for anybody. It was as if each of the students embodied one to their own. Rikku hit the deck, making sure to stay low as the kunai that struck their sensei seemed to fly from the back of the room. It was as smart a decision as any given the situation. The boy made sure to check on the other students, all in various states of shock and unsure of what to do. His words did a bit to rouse them from their stupefied state and at the very least they were thinking a bit more clearly than before. Shusuke jumped into action almost immediately and rushed to Daiji's side inquiring about their instructors health and even forming some physical clones infused with lightning which was no small feat for a student. Though the adrenaline and inexperience were playing their part and he could not think as clearly as normal. However he did recognize this and called on his Nara friend to take the reigns. Knowing one's shortcomings was important, and may just save everyone's lives. His talent would be important in getting through this day if they could figure out how best to utilize it. Yuki wanted to flee, her own energy forming the equivalent of an Explosive Note and planting itself on the door frame as she bolted from the room. In the face of such overwhelming odds it may have been the wisest decision. And Shishiwakamaru, perhaps the student everyone expected the least from answered the call to action and began to strategize. Correctly he identified that splitting up was a poor idea though Yuki had already fled. It would have been much more effective to go as a group if that's what they planned on doing. Now he had to improvise. Adapt.

The healing process proved ineffective as the Yamanaka boy would find, only serving to stain his hands with the same red liquid pooling on the floor beneath Daiji. But through his close proximity he would be able to spot the object hidden in his instructor's pocket-- a black book now a bit more bloody than it was before. Perhaps there was vital information on this threat stored within? As for their sensei well... he was unresponsive. It was safe to say that there was no helping him at this point. And it did not seem to be a genjutsu. The children had to focus their efforts on their own survival if there was to be any hope. As Yuki exited the classroom and sprinted through the halls of the academy she would attempt to make her way towards the entrance. She seemed to be in the clear, no sign of enemy shinobi or anyone else for that matter until she reached the large open entryway. There she would come face to face with what they were up against.

fVEtz5v.png

Enemies already within the building blocking the entrance, but for the moment no sign of their leader. Seven highly-trained shinobi... their presence alone would be more than enough to instill dread within the girl. From this distance she would be able to notice a peculiar detail. Three of the shinobi dressed in dark blue gave off a more sinister killing intent than the others. They also seemed to be issuing hand signals to the others indicating some authority. It was safe to assume that they were higher-ranked, likely jōnin. It wasn't much of a consolation considering even one jōnin could face down an entire class of students by themselves... but useful information nonetheless. It didn't take long for the group to spot the girl and when they did one of the ninja dressed in black swiped a few shuriken from his pouch and tossed them in the girls direction (Volley; Countered!). Luckily she had prepared for this and sent out some of her own projectiles, successfully clashing with the incoming throwing stars and canceling the attack out. This angered the enemy ninja and he closed the distance between them in a flash. Just as he readied a kunai to deliver a swift stab his face was met with four decisive twhacks! Stunned in sheer disbelief the enemy ninja would take a step back, he swung his arm and missed the strike bopping Yuki's hat but otherwise missing, the second attack a kick to the midsection did land, pushing the girl back several feet but not knocking her over due to his momentary confusion. (2-Hit Combo; Miss, Hit!) The kick would surely hurt but offer Yuki a short but important window to take her next action. Run or fight? With six other hostiles nearby her choice would certainly matter. The other shinobi hung back and watched, a few even chuckling menacingly as their comrade seemed to struggle taking out a child. It was here that Yuki would learn perhaps the most important piece of information about their enemy... they were underestimating them. Sure they were children, but they were aspiring ninja every one. If the students played their cards right... they may just make it out of here yet.

Back in the classroom Shishiwakamaru had jumped into action, directing the others to barricade themselves within the room. Currently there were only two ways in or out of the classroom: the main sliding door and the window. Of course they were situated on the second story of the building so escaping would not be simple but it was there if they needed it. "What if they break in?" one of the students asked, tears welling up in his eyes. "Shouldn't we run like Yuki?" All of the others looked to the Nara boy and awaited an answer. The mood was tense, but it was clear that his quick thinking and assumption of a leadership role during the crisis had played some small part in calming everyone down at least for now. Rikku's checking in with the others did the same and due to both of their efforts at the moment the worst part of the initial chaos had been quelled. But they needed to decide on a plan and fast. What next?

Seeing the other three student walk out into the open with seemingly no threat to being targeted, Rikku scrambled to his feet. He gulped nervously at the lack of response from Daiji. It was unnerving, but it wasn’t the time to freak out about that.

Rikku followed along Shishiwakamaru to the opposite end of the chalkboard. Ripping it out of the wall? That was something he could do. Rikku dragged his fingers along the lip of the board. There wasn’t a lot of space, but just enough to get a small grip of the board. He took a shaky breath before grasping the board and using it to lift his feet up onto the wall. Rikku strained against it, using his legs to push away from the wall. He grew frustrated as the board refused to budge. Chakra flowed down his body, to his feet and into the wall. A deep rumble erupted with the wall that would disrupt the fixtures secure the board to the wall. The movement would loosen the holes in the wall any screws and anchors were holding onto until with a little brute force he could pull his side out of the wall. The boy grunted as he gave it one last lift, breaking the fixtures in place.

Losing his stability as the board was ripped away, Rikku fell to the ground with it. While it was annoying, he would accept a tumble over getting impaled by enemy weapons. Rising back to his feet, Rikku walked to the other side of the board still hanging on. He gave Shishiwakamaru a nod before working together to dismount the remaining edge and follow his classmates lead in barricading the window.

As Shusuke was trying to tend to his sensei he noticed it wasn't working. A slight tear came to his eyes, was he no better than his parents that came before him? Was he actually all talk? He has spent every waking moment for as long as he could remember practicing, training, proving himself to be more than what his parents could do. It was the responsibility of a child, was it not? To take the life your parents had and do better, do more. His eyes shifted to the little black book. He knew his weaknesses, he knew this book probably had a hint, bu he also knew he wouldn't be the one to understand it.

A blur of gray darted past him as Yuki left the room. The gods be damned! He barely knew Yuki from class, but what he could tell she was useless. His mind was raising, he could see the small seal on the doorway. "Shusuke, help me get this off the wall so we can use it to seal off the windows!" A grunt slipped from his lips. "But what abo-" His voice cut off as he stood up from where he was, his hands fading of his medical ninjutsu. The boy named Rikku apparently had more talents that met the eye. Shusuke grinned before looking to his clones. "Give me one minute Shishiwakamaru, it looks like Rikku can help you prep, but we can't let Yuki die." He tossed the book to Shishiwakamaru. "Here, read this while you wait for me!" He looked at the door way as his clones made their way to follow him.

Darting in an almost perfect single file line the four blonds would dart out of the classroom as the small detonation would blow as soon as Shusuke passed through the doorway. Shususke's ears could detect the clanging sounds of combat from just down the hallway. His body began to swell with chakra and faint sparks began to crawl across his skin. Turing the corner Shusuke saw the small girl get kicked backwards and her feet slid across the ground. He could tell she wasn't used to this kind of combat. Ninja Art: Deaf Jutsu! "DON'T YOU TOUCH HER! His voice would ring outwards towards his enemy as his body erupted with intense electrical energy. Scorch marcks could be seen as the lightning began to burn his own skin as he sent the Genjutsu Deaf at his target. The goal was to deafen the enemy with his words.

Landing beside Yuki, his clones close by he would look at her, as his eyes began to erupt with storm chakra. "Get back to the classroom, you aren't up to this." His voice was sharp and was matched in volume by the crackling of the electrical energy that coated his body. As he spoke his three clones pulled out their short blades and darted forward towards those that were behind the attacker. A series of slashes and the Clones were trying to quickly disperse the weaker of the enemies. His eyes locked with the enemy that attacked Yuki, before his gaze quickly shifted to the two others who were dressed in a similar manner.

Slamming his hands together an echoing reverberation would rip through their minds as Shusuke tried to cause them to pull their attention away from Yuki. Ninja Art: Deception Jutsu The sounds of combat would fill the air around them. Concentrating his audial genjutsu further he would push beyond the limits of the average shinobi. "Daiji-Sensei wanted to know what made me special..." His voice trailed off as he slowly pulled his hands apart, as if pushing against an unseen force. Ninja Art: Trembling Music The same two targets that he tried to distract would hear a chorus of crashing sounds of metal and shrill screeches of voices. He was layering Genjutsu, something that was not only rare to come across, but impossible for almost every other shinobi. As the jutsus sank in to his enemies his gaze would be back on the original enemy.

Grabbing the hilt of his blade he would shift into a defensive stance as his body continued to erupt with electrical surges. "What's wrong, only like to pick on little girls?"

He had not known this previously, but Shusuke helped him out and gave him his helper's name. Rikku was the name, and he was quite the help indeed. He couldn't tell outright, but this kid had some sort of ability to manipulate the structural integrity of the academy walls. A skill that proved most helpful. Shusuke had a good point, they couldn't sit idly by and let Yuki deliver herself right into enemy hands. It might not have been the best move, but their options seemed limited. Before bolting after Yuki he would toss Shishi a black book that, still wet with the fresh life force that was Daiji-sensei's blood. The feeling was grotesque and slimy, but he would quickly wipe the blood off on his clothes. Placing it into his pocket he would then help Rikku pry off the other side of the chalkboard. It came off with relative ease after Rikku's technique.

Shusuke and his clones were well on their way to assist Yuk in whatever she found herself in, not ideal but again they couldn't leave her hanging. And Shusuke was probably their most advanced fighter. With four Shusukes they could probably survive a while longer until they figured out what the hell they were doing. However his leaving triggered an explosion that Yuki and meant for the enemy. The sound deafened their ears and left a ringing noise resounding in their minds. The sliding door was blown off its fittings and rubble now lay where the entryway once stood. With no defenses and no way to secure the door they were essentially sitting ducks in this room. Perhaps staying in here was not the best idea considering the enemy already knew where they were given that more than half of the students and looked out the window to witness their presence.

Well... The least they could do is finish barricading the windows to at least give the appearance that they were still in here. That could buy them some time if the enemy tried to come in through the windows. He knew that this shoddy setup would not stop a real life shinobi, but it was better than nothing. After Rikku and Shishiwakamaru had finished placing the chalkboard up against the windows he would address the remaining students. "Everything's going to be ok. Yuki and Shusuke are getting help, for now I say we --" Suddenly a booming voice that sounded like an intesnified version of Shusuke's voice reverberate all the way back to this classroom. "DON'T YOU TOUCH HER! A sinking feeling formed in the pit of his stomach, a tone like that, mentioning 'her', Yuki had to have found herself some trouble. Crap... What to do, what to do!!!

"Nobody panic, I... I'll think of something..." Uncertainty swelled up in his eyes has frustration set in. He was not a leader, he was barely even a student! What did he know about anything?! His eyes grew wide as he suddenly realized he had forgotten about the black book Shusuke took from their instructor's pocket. He had no idea why Shusuke thought it was important, but they were grasping at straws here. In addition to this he would make a split decesion. He didn't like it, at all. He really wished everyone had stayed together. Returning to his seat where he initially sat he grabbed his bag and pulled out a pouch and fastened it to his side. He would then pull out two items he had bought thinking he would be a sly ninja. He would return to Rikku and hand him a flare. "Here, in case I don't make it, at least you have a chance to use this." He then stared at the gaping hole the explosion left in place of the entryway. "I'm not confident we can really survive a frontal assault from experienced ninja. We should make our way to the roof and fire off one of these flares to call for help. Someone will see it, they have to..." This was the only logical line of action he could see working. He worried after Shusuke and Yuki still, maybe there was a way to help them and also follow this plan. Preferably he would want them back here away from harm, but they were already in the thick of it. He sincerely hoped they would survive this ordeal. Pulling out the book he would flip through a few pages searching for anything he could find that would be helpful.

Rikku listened to Shishiwakamaru’s suggestion and nodded as he took the flare. As he looked it over for a moment he pointed towards the window where the kunai had entered the room. “We have two of these right?” He confirmed. “Should we fire one off from the hole in the window first? Then we can move up to the roof and fire the second?” Rikku wasn’t entirely sure of himself, but if they fired one off now, by the time they reached the roof access hopefully they would already have some help on the way.

His eyes trailed over the blackboard they had just used to cover up the area and another idea popped into his head. “The blackboard. Someone else and myself can hold the ends and everyone else can hide behind it as we move down the hall. They at least won’t be able to throw any weapons through it like they did the window.”

Catching the kick square in the chest Yuki was pushed back, but she would not fall! She was breathing heavily, and she could feel the bruised ribs that sat under her robe. She was not a trained fighter... She literally had no reason to fight this shinobi, she just wanted to run away and find a grown up... You know, like children are SUPPOSED to do!!! "DON'T YOU TOUCH HER!" These words echoed out like an explosion. Shusuke... more like Shusukes had arrived, but the one that spoke was clearly different. How were there four of this kid? AND WHY WAS HE LOOKING LIKE THAT?!

She saw energy rippling around him like he was a Super Sayain 2 or some shit, but she was clueless on how a small child, who looked younger than her, could sit here and spark like a battery touching steel wool. His eyes erupted with lightning; this kid must be some sort of demon her family had been talking about! Like how else could you explain this sheer amount force erupting from a tiny body? But she was smart enough to be able to read her current situation. She was distanced from the enemy, the enemy was distracted by a new flashy technique, and she was fast. I mean have you ever met a child? They're fast as fuck boi. She saw a new wisp, a new talisman appeared beside her. A grin took to her face.

Tossing her hat up to help with the diversion she would yell out! "Ninja Art: Five-Element Invocation!" And as she yelled the wisp would fly towards the enemy. Exactly where she wanted them.

She ran.

She didn't know this jutsu, ARE YOU CRAZY? She's literally a child and you thought she had the strength of a Grand Priestess already?! Ha, you fool! She was taking her happy ass back to the classroom, and if she could, which by the nine she hoped she could, she would do the follow, but like... if not... I guess she dies here. I don't know, I don't make the rules I am just trying to tell her side of things. You think she pays me to know what's gonna happen in the future? HA! I wish... anyways, if we make it to the classroom.

Skidding down the hall and stopping by the door she got distracted momentarily. "Heh. Nice." She really did make a bomb. She wondered who detonated it? Maybe it was Shusuke? Oh shit... if it was Shusuke he's gonna kill her if he survives that fight. Looked at the rest of the class she smiled real big and pointed behind her with a thumb. "So we should totally avoid that way, there's like hundred of ninja over there and now I think Shusuke is a demon or something because like his whole ass body, YEA, his whole ass body is all sparky and stuff and it's scary. Did you all know he was a quadruplet? Yea, me neither! There's like four of him out there fighting!" She paused and read the room.

"Oh, what are y'all up to?'

Even for highly-trained shinobi the danger and sheer pandemonium of the battlefield was enough to unsettle the sturdiest of them. And that's exactly what the academy had become. A battlefield. The children would need to think fast and act decisively. Even a single second could be the difference between life or death. So it was a good thing they were under no other assumptions. Rikku was the first to jump to action, creatively making use of a low-level Earth Release technique to assist in prying off the blackboard from the wall for defensive use. Some of the more scared students in the room looked on in awe as the boy moved and a few even assisted him in carrying the thing across the room to the window. Shusuke swiped their unresponsive sensei's black book from his pocket and tossed it to Shishiwakamaru as he and his doppelgangers darted through the door after Yuki. Unsurprisingly her trap reacted, detonating and giving the boy one mean headache as he did his best to shake off the blast and continue on after his classmate.

Sparks crackled around the boy's frame as dashed into action, casting a mid-rank Audial Genjutsu on Yuki's assailant which, combined with the kunoichi-to-be's own broom onslaught before, connected and completely erased the man's sense of hearing. He only barely got the warning out of his mouth to his classmate when the jōnin vanished from sight, reappearing in the boy's blind spot. "Neither are you." four blindingly fast strikes came out, each one hitting harder than the last with only the last attack failing to hit its mark (Dragon Assult; Hit, Hit, Hit, Miss!). But just when it seemed like there'd be a reprieve the enemy wound back and followed through with a brutal double hammer fist to the youth's back, bouncing Shusuke off of the floor much like a ragdoll and back towards Yuki's direction who had begun fleeing (Tiger Hook; Hit!) Overmatched was an understatement. The enemy's hands tingled with slight scorching after striking the student due to his electric feel but this was inconsequential. Even without his hearing the elite ninja before him could take him and his classmates apart like it was nothing. Killing intent saturated the air the likes of which made it hard for less experienced shinobi to even breathe. And the Yamanaka would realize something as he was knocked back... he was being toyed with. Like a predator playing with its meal. The jōnin could end him at any time. It had never been more apparent than it was now. Yuki fired off a diversionary wisp and bolted as two of the other ninja; one jōnin, one chūnin peeled off in pursuit. He was alone now and still surrounded. And though nothing felt broken yet he would be hurting bad.

In panic room HQ the de facto leader of the students was struggling to maintain control. His level-headedness was something to be admired, and proof that there was more to the fledgling Nara than meets the eye... but you could only wrangle panicked children so much. His assessment was absolutely right, not only was a frontal assault useless it was suicide. With Shusuke and Yuki both gone their numbers were dwindling. Quick thinking allowed Shishi to pass a flare to Rikku who made the excellent suggestion that they fire one off out of the window and then another from the roof. The two of them together were quite the young tacticians. Good. They would need that to make it through. Just as they had settled on a plan Yuki reappeared beneath the hole she had made in the doorway and began spouting off. Shishiwakamaru took the brief pause in this interlude of madness to delve into the book he had been tossed and would doubtless notice quite the surprise.

Extremely dangerous; do NOT engage.

A bookmarked page in the stained booklet. With info on what looked to be the figure in the mask from before. But... something was quite right. More than a few things actually. Things were not adding up here at all. It was up to him to determine the discrepancies and relay them to his allies.

Back in the academy's entryway things had grown even more grim. One of the chūnin had struck Shusuke's bunshin and broke its neck, dispersing it in a shower of electricity that left him momentarily jolted. But that was all it took for the others the take note. One of the others got nicked by the second clone blade but jumped back and showered it with kunai and shuriken, safely dispatching it from a distance (Silver Stream; Hit(x5)!). The third summoned a miniature tornado under the last clone's feet, lifting it into the air and eviscerating it with blades of chakra-infused air (Tempest; Hit, Hit, Hit!). Shusuke tapped into his kekkei genkai's power, masterfully weaving illusions together in the face of these overwhelming odds. One of the ninja pursuing Yuki was affected by these genjutsu, filling his head with unwanted noise but not deterring him from the chase. Now it was five-on-one. "An enemy is an enemy." one of the lower-ranked shinobi piped up in response to his taunt, moving around to encircle the student. A badly battered Shusuke stood tall but it should be obvious to him at this point that he was only prolonging the inevitable. "You were a fool to face us alone." the jonin who struck him from before spoke. "Looks like poor 'Daiji-sensei' taught you to die meaninglessly." The ninja all prepared to strike. This was it.

Back in class a sudden rush of wind breezed past the students to the center of the room. There stood a figure in an owl mask. There stood terror. (Shadow Dance).

04u7yup.png

"Hello... children." A leg flashed out from beneath a cloak and would spin to strike both Rikku and Shishiwakamaru in tandem, the Nara boy's last second puppet technique coming out just in time to take the brunt of the attack that struck his classmate and throw off the trajectory of the strike (Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku; Partial{blocked}, Partial!). Tossing the students backwards towards the door and causing several of the onlookers to scream. Though they would no doubt be feeling the pain from this distance Rikku, Yuki, and Shishi could all see that the leader stood about five feet eight inches, his attire appearing rather baggy on what seemed to be a lean frame. That is if they could focus past the panic that would undoubtedly seep in. One of the terrified children grabbed hold of the black board and tried to lift, beckoning towards Rikku. "C'mon we have to go now!" his plan likely their only hope now. Some of the other kids funneled out into the hallway. It was do or die time.

From Yuki and now most of the class' position in the doorway they would notice a disturbing sight. At one end of the hall a jōnin and chūnin stood together. menacing in their presence alone. "It is time for this game to end." the figure within the classroom spoke. Slowly the ninja down the hall began to advance towards the room as their leader moved towards the door. The other students backpedaled, almost in lockstep with the enemies' movements. At the opposite end of the hallway around the corner were stairs leading to the roof. It looked clear as of now but there were likely other enemies moving to cut them off getting closer with every second. The situation grew more dire by the second. What now?

Rikku grunted as he was swiftly kicked back into the wall beside the door frame. He let out a gasp of air as he connected, the wind completely knocked out of him. His free hand pressed the surface beside him to help slide back up onto his feet.

“Go, NOW!” He yelled to Shishiwakamaru and his fellow classmates. As he spoke, Rikku raised the flare up toward the empty space of window and shot it off, the tail of red smoke filled the room.

He hoped that his classmates would be familiar enough with the layout of there class to move without too much of an issue. They could choose to continue with the chalkboard idea, or perhaps the puff of smoke would offer some help with visibility, or lack thereof, in the hallway.

Rikku truly hoped the scampering of footsteps from the others would cloud his intentions. The boy ran forward with little hesitation and leapt towards the individual to tackle him to the ground. If anything, he’d buy them a few extra seconds from this bastard. To the best of his ability Rikku would try to restrain his, but he could only pray for success.

No. He had to keep as many of them occupied as possible. Shusuke was risking his life so that the others could have a chance to leave. As the Jonin ran away after Yuki, Shusuke would make a series of quick hand seals before slamming his hands on the ground. "Summoning Jutsu!" As soon as the burst of smoke appeared a small turtle would dart out from the cloud and began running down the hallway. Yamanaka Style: Third Blind. His mind expanded and would reach out to connect with Shida's. "Protect the other children, at all costs! His voice was clear and understood. He had accepted his fate. Sacrifice the one to defend the many. "Understood, I'll see you on the otherside, Shu-kun..."

Turning his gaze back to the Jonin, Shusuke would spit a small amount of blood to the ground before wiping his mouth. "Is that all you've got? I can take on all of you, no problem." His lies were said with confidence, he wasn't going to succumb to this. He wasn't going to let the enemy get what they want. A smirk came to his lips as he snapped his fingers to shatter the illusion he laid onto the Jonin before him. All of the sound that he lost, all of the surges of sparking energy from Shusuke echoing in the hallways would hit him instantly. If Shusuke was lucky the sound would rupture his eardrums. As he did the energy that consumed his form faded.

Fuck.

His defenses were down; he was beaten and bruised. Clenching his father's blade, he would dart forwards towards two of the chuunin around him and made a wide Full Circle strike attempting to cut two of them down. Regardless if the attack landed he would push back with his blade and attempt to make an Arcing Slash at another enemy, he really didn't care which one at this point. He just knew it needed to end soon.

As Shide was running down the hallway a collection of moisture would develop from her sides to create two long tendrils of water. Lashing out She would attempt to crack the Jonin in the hallway in the back of the head. "Water Style: Water Whip Jutsu!" The whips would smash towards the enemy but instead of dispersing they would remain and recoil to her side. This little turtle now had two long tentacle like apendages at her side.

We have two of these right? Should we fire one off from the hole in the window first? Then we can move up to the roof and fire the second?” Shishiwakamaru pondered for a brief moment before replying with a solid nod. "That's a great idea Rikku, let's do it!" The other student followed up with another brilliant idea. It might not fend off a big attack, but it would at least be distracting enough and save them from a few kunai along the way. "I think that might actually work, let's --" Suddenly movement at the doorway caught his attention and sent a chill down his spine. Instinct took over and Shishi readied a scroll that contained one of his puppet weapons. The adrenaline coursed through his veins causing his heart to throb violently. With a visual 'sign of relief' coming from his face he settled down a bit as he realized it was only Yuki returning.

"So we should totally avoid that way, there's like hundred of ninja over there and now I think Shusuke is a demon or something because like his whole ass body, YEA, his whole ass body is all sparky and stuff and it's scary. Did you all know he was a quadruplet? Yea, me neither! There's like four of him out there fighting!" Shishiwakamaru blinked slowly in response to the shocking story Yuki regaled them with, at one hundred miles an hour I might add. After an awkward pause she would finish. "Oh, what are y'all up to?" The rush of adrenaline sparked the memory of the little black book. Quickly he thumbed through the black book that Shusuke gave him from Daiji's body. He had never seen one of these before so it took him a moment to figure out what he was looking at. Reading the notes, however, caused him to raise a single brow in contemplating confusion. Something didn't sit right with him in all this. This book didn't accurately portray the scene before them as it should. Something was amiss. "Lots of things. Where's Shusuke, I need to tell him something about this book. Actually all of you should hear this." Lifting the stained book above his head he would attempt to make his proclamation. "I just learned something very important that will help us against these ---" A chilling breeze would be felt within the room, creepy considering they had the majority of the window covered...

"Hello... children." A second chill ran down his spine as his eyes grew wide in fear. Before he got a chance to react or speak a sickening thud resounded outwards as the enemy's foot made contact with his chest. Somehow he was able to summon his puppet and protect Rikku from the brunt of the attack that he also took. Crashing into the rubble that the exploded door at created Shishi cried out in pain and clutched his stomach. Slowly he would pull himself up off the ground, still clutching his stomach, trying to catch his breath. Holy crap that hurt, he probably wouldn't be able to take another hit like that. "It is time for this game to end." Looking towards the hallway as a means to escape he saw more enemy ninja soon to be blocking their way to the rooftop. What the heck were they going to do?

Rikku's cry pulled him from his stupor, his self sacrificing tone gave Shishiwakamaru the courage to continue. “Go, NOW!” In his mind he could feel every fiber screaming at him to move, to run and let Rikku sacrifice himself. But in his heart he knew he couldn't. Something inside pulled at the back of his mind. With a solid look of confidence welling up in Shishiwakamaru's face he released his hold on his aching stomach and took a firm step forward towards the bad guy with the Owl mask. Tossing the book towards Yuki it would 'strategically' land face open on the very page in question. "HEY YOU, OWL FACE!" Hopefully this would be enough to at least catch him off guard. "Everyone get out of the room!" An order he hoped they followed, it would lessen the chance of more being hurt. The subtle clickity clackity noise of a beginners puppet sung through the air as Shishiwakamaru attempted to strike the Ebony-garbed foe's face, specifically going for the mask. "I liked playing dress up too, when I was 5!" Taking another step forward he would make another proclamation. "Never works in the daylight? EHHH!" Shishi would give a thumbs down with a buzzer like noise that he had gotten an answer wrong. Another step foward...

He didn't know where this was coming from, like an inborn prowess he had never known before the information just seemed to flow freely. "Exclusively works alone?! EHHHHH!" This time he gave two thumbs down. Grabbing a stray meter/yard stick that had fallen in all the commotion he would throw it directly at the assailant. They had some time given that Shusuke's turtle was now joining the fray. If the Owl masked foe caught the projectile Shishi's mind would have a Jimmy Neutron moment. Knowing how many inches were on the stick, now (hopefully) close enough to measure the bad guy he would make a bold statement. "You're not even six feet tall, are you... Mr. So-called owl face." If none of this panned out they would probably be in for a world of hurt. But running just didn't seem like an option anymore. Even if they made it out of the class without being mowed over from behind, there was still the other ninja in the hall. Not to mention they would know they were on the roof instead of them sneaking off there without them knowing. They would have nowhere to run at all at that point. Smoke filled the room at this point, making it difficult to see Owl face, and Rikku for that matter.
