Trick after trick.

This seemed to be the essence of Saito's fighting style and unfortunately it did not impress Tatsuo all that much. Strategy was important for a shinobi, sure, but Saito lacked what was needed in a real battle. Clever tricks would only get you so far, eventually you actually needed to strike your opponents with enough force to make them think twice about fighting. With a sigh Tatsuo decided to get serious and slipped away into stealth or so he thought, he shot out a few large strikes at Saito, most of them being dodged through one facet of trickery or another, but a few hitting their mark, showing Saito the difference between taps and full hits from powerful Ninjutsu.

Tatsuo did not mind him using such techniques, but he didn't like the idea of his student not being able to truly utilize his abilities in a fight. He had seen what Saito was capable of and constant flashy tricks seemed beneath his student. Jumping into the trees and looking down to Saito he shouted, "Now let me show you what you need to learn!" Tatsuo beginning his next onslaught of attacks. He knew he was probably going too tough on the student, but anything less would be disrespectful. Saito had shown amazing growth in such a short time period but his lack of actual combat ability was disheartening for Tatsuo. He couldn't imagine him being alone on a mission if he wasn't capable of at least fighting back truly.

Tatsuo's wooden spears did not cease their chase after Saito when the monkey boy reappeared to throw the bag of poison at his master, surprising Saito with an incredibly fast, unexpected strike. The blow knocked the young Genin off his balance and undid the transformation jutsu -- just as well, as it was a waste of chakra since Tatsuo had not been fooled for an instant. Saito's shadows seemingly took on a life of their own in reaction to the child finally taking damage, flinging themselves at Tatsuo and managing to tag him once. The boy, low on chakra and exhausted, slowed down too much and was clipped by yet another jutsu. He was exhausted, and needed to stop for a moment, but his sensei was relentless. With his powerful jutsu and unending chakra supply, the Jounin certainly earned his rank... the attacks just didn't stop. When will the poison work....?<i></i> the child asked himself, working the handsigns to bind Tatsuo yet again. The older ninja struggled, pushing his way out of the bind by sheer willpower, his power waxing while Saito's waned. The boy simply couldn't keep up the bind anymore and collapsed in front of Tatsuo, releasing the Jounin and leaving himself seemingly open to assault.

Tatsuo's intent eyes bore into the child, hands gliding through handsigns the instant the bind was broken. Saito watched him set himself to launch another jutsu, one that Saito would be too tired to dodge... and then saw the golden eyes finally slide shut as Tatsuo succumbed to the poison. The older ninja hit the ground, fast asleep, and Saito breathed a great sigh of relief. I can't believe that worked...<i></i> he thought to himself, watching the sleeping Jounin closely as he recovered energy. Sad that the only thing he could do was rest while Tatsuo lay there vulnerable, but the move restored to him precious chakra that he desperately needed. He needed to get to the next step in the plan! How would he start his strategy when all he could do was dodge? Thoughts spinning, the boy didn't notice that Tatsuo had simply vanished. One moment he was sleeping, and the next he was gone. And then the next moment the child was flying through the air, taking a sneak attack dead on without being able to dodge. Landing on his face, the child wasted no time in getting to his feet. He knew his master wouldn't stay asleep the entire time, he knew there would be a risk -- but it was a risk worth taking and enduring, for now he had enough chakra to put his plans into action, or so he hoped!

The difference between them was made apparent with Tatsuo's last bout of ninjutsu, destroying everything on the field and putting the heat on Saito. Tatsuo hadn't even begun to sweat, so he was getting tired with this fight. Saito wasn't making any progress in this battle and if this is how he fought he feared for his ability in a real battle. "Is this really all you're capable of?" Tatsuo called out as he shot off ninjutsu after ninjutsu. Negative reinforcement wasn't a normal occurance for Saito but he was trying to stir him to at least do something. Even when he tried to strike, Tatsuo's ninjutsu proved to be more powerful. There was a certain amount of raw strength that Saito was lacking, but he knew he had it, he just had been trying to be clever this whole time.

"If you think you can best me with clever tricks you're sorely mistaken!" Tatsuo shouted as he his hands flew into another flurry of seals, undoubtedly about to strike him with another round of powerful ninjutsu.
