Kaori double-checked all of her belongings before leaving the room in the inn. She went to go travel the world, once again, to seek out and destroy those Dragon Statues -- those demonic machinations that housed the souls of terrifying and demanding demons. She patted her entire body to make sure she had everything.
Both her and her Persona, Mina, were packed with extra-large backpacks full of Kaori's stuff. If only she had a comfortable bag-of-holding; a spell she'd have to develop during her travels. After believing that she had everything, both her and Mina left the room.
Several days later, Nozomi ended up renting this room. In her usual, paranoid fashion, she looked everywhere to ensure there weren't any bombs, poisons, or other traps planted within the room. During her inspection, she looked under the bed and saw a strange glimmering gem. She reached out for it, placing the trinket in her hand and felt a mighty rush of power surge through her, causing her to drop the jewel. She recoiled back, landing on her rear as she stared at the red gem that resided underneath the bed.
The look of disbelief was clearly written upon her face. She didn't know what to make of it.
She reached underneath the bed, yet again, feeling that surge of power course through her body as her hands clasped over the earring. The sound of primordial roars blared through her head as she took a firm grasp of the item and pulled out if from under the bed. Her hand was covered in a brilliant red light and the dust from under the bed.
Opening her hand, she felt a warmth as the red-glow from the earring started to pulsate. Her eyes fixated upon the jewel, as if possessed, by the power held within. She whispered out the words "
Zeno-crystal". The power of the earring compelled her to thread it into her ear. She was about to do so until her partner walked into the door of the room. The sound of the door opening was enough to break her gaze upon the artifact.
She turned to look towards her partner and pocketed the earring for now. She got back to work.
Later on, she was given free-time before the mission was to begin. Hearing of the raw, unbridled power from the earring, she pulled it out of her pocket and stared at it for a moment before threading the earring through a hole in her ear. The power she felt earlier was amplified as it surged through her body. A bright red light enveloped Nozomi before a strange looking sword materialized before her, floating in the space in front of her -- urging her to grab it. Her eyes fixated upon the emblem within the sword, a red-gem with a black slit -- resembling that of a serpent's eyes. She whispered out the words, "
Starbringer," she let out. The earrings gave her the knowledge of this weapon. As if possessed, she wrapped her hand around the hilt of the sword.
Even more power surged through her body upon wielding the blade. As if dictated by instinct, she inverted the blade and impaled it into the ground. The serpent's eye changed to a strange device that started to spin, creating a high-pitched whirring sound. Nozomi, entranced by the tremendous power of this blade, stood back for a moment. The forest grew deathly silent for a moment. Everything went silent and everything went still. There was a rumbling coming from the ground just beneath the sword. The ground started to get swarmed with little creatures making a rushed exit away from the epicenter. Creatures ranging from rats, snakes, rabbits and a host of insect creatures. The ground was cluttered with these animals before a massive burst came from the ground, erupting violently with earth and rock.
A mighty roar was heard coming from the chasm. Nozomi took a step forward and cracked a smile, before letting out laughter. She didn't fear this creature! No, she welcomed it with open arms! During the rumbling and the roar, a mighty creature appeared from the ground with a black-and-red fog surrounding it's mouth. It took a step forward towards Nozomi and let out another mighty roar right in her face; it's mouth so wide that it could swallow Nozomi whole if it desired.
"
Who are you and why have you summoned me?" the creature asked. It turned it's eyes downward to see Nozomi wearing the Zeno-Crystal earring and bearing the Starbringer Sword. "
I see. So the blind one must have misplaced the earring. Typical," the creature stated.
"
Great creature! Queen of the tyrants, hear my words!" Nozomi shouted out. This prompted the mighty creature to pull back to get a good view of Nozomi. "
Lend me your power!" she shouted out, requesting help from the creature.
The creature narrowed it's eyes at Nozomi for a moment. "
Under one condition...." the creature said with a slight pause. "
Cook me a cow and I will join you," it said with a straight-expression. Nozomi was taken aback by the creature's demand and blinked a few times. "
Do you want it still living or would a butchered cow work well for you?" she asked, still in disbelief at the request.
The creature let out a mighty roar. "
I don't give a shit!!!! Just cook it and feed it to me!!" the creature shouted out.
"
Um, okay. Gimme a bit," she said holding up a single finger and ran towards the village only to return an hour later with an entire, butchered, cow on a cart. She dumped out the cart, threw together a series of handseals and performed a fireball jutsu on the corpse, instantly cooking it. The smell of the cooked flesh excited the creature making it salivate from the smell alone. The moment it was done, the creature thrust it's face into the ground, biting into the earth. It pulled up a combination of earth and the expensive full-cow steak and ate it. Upon eating it, a squeal could be heard from the monster.
The more and more Nozomi spoke or was around this creature, the stranger things had gotten. The creature was dancing around, whirling around it's stubby arms. "
That's the stuff! My previous partner -- ugh! I had to pull her leg to, like," she said, throwing in human-like verbal pauses. "
Ya know, get me a 'steak' she called it. Anyway. For your generosity, I will come with you. Call me, like, Anna Rose. Teehee!" the creature said, giving Nozomi a kawaii expression. This caused Nozomi to lose faith in this monstrosity called 'Anna Rose'. However, a monstrous creature like this would be a boon to her when stealth was no longer an option.
"
My name is Nozomi. Nice to meet you, Anna Rose," she said. The big creature just nodded to Nozomi and waved with one of it's stubby arms. "
Kaaaaaay! I'll see ya later, alright? Don't be a strangerrrrrrr!" she said before diving back into the hole she came out of, fixing the ground back to it's previous state. Nozomi let out a sigh as she picked up the Starbringer sword and held it in her hands. "
Could've been worse. Upkeep will be a little expensive though." she said as she shrugged her shoulders and returned to the village. It seemed her time was up! Now to return to her mission.
