Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

They had come again.

It was that time of the month when the poor and destitute were gathered together in nights of drunken exchange. Someone had clearly heisted a large quantity of alcohol somewhere and as a result not only were many people intoxicated, many dangerous people were intoxicated.

As any child who had been raised in Migoya’s situation knew, this was the time you hid.

Crouching inside the walls of the flimsy abode the 7 year old had fashioned from an empty metal drum and an old blanket he had stolen from somewhere, Migoya shivered - partly from fear but mostly from the cold outside. His stomach started to rumble, and Migoya grew concerned that one of these ‘adults’ would hear him.

He tried to remember the lessons that he had been taught earlier that week at the academy. Breathe. He hated going there - the other children made fun of his clothes and of Mikki, not knowing his circumstances, but at least he was a quick study. Breathe. The lesson he had just been taught was fo chakra control.

“Imagine your body is like a bucket, and your tasks is to ‘feel’ the water in that bucket”. What a stupid analogy, Migoya had thought at the time. It was far better to center yourself on the earth, breathe, and become centered. From that center would come clarity and chakra.

Migoya breathed in slowly and as silently as possible, hearing approaching footsteps. Crouching low, Migoya’s palms flattered on the dirt road, and he willed himself almost into that earth, finding refuge and stability - almost a connectedness with the ground itself.

Breathe

Two men came into view. Recognising one as a local labourer and member of the Jinkotsu family, Migoya grew even more nervous. These were thugs - vicious men who undertook the physical intimidation that the Yakuza thrived on. Migoya knew that if he were spotted, there would be a beating, simply because he was smaller and weaker than these two bullies.

Breathe

Migoya’s heart began to race as the men drew ever closer. There were few jutsu that Migoya knew - mostly to do with controlling his friend Mikki. He practiced continuously with the small puppet, becoming quite proficient in the artform that was puppet control. In fact, he doubted that there was anyone at his age who was better than him - at least he hoped not.

Breathe

The footsteps came closer and Migoya, peering out through a rusted hole in the drum, saw the two figures up close. He scanned them, taking in the fact that one seemed to favour his left leg, the other having a large katana strapped to his back, unsheathed. The way they walked also indicated that they had been enjoying the booze - they probably helped with the heist in some way. As they drew closer, Migoya started to hold his breath.

“Whats this then”, one of the men grunted, reaching over to pick something off of the ground.

“Oh its a dolly. Give it here.”, the other responded with a slur.

“Nah I found it. Stupid thing”.

Migoya’s heart leapt into his throat - how could he be so stupid! He had left Mikki outside, and now… and now… he couldn't bear to think of what might happen. Pull yourself together moron, Migoya’s mind seemed to speak to itself. Think.

He looked again through the hole, watching the man swing Mikki by an arm. “What a piece of crap. Doesn't even have a face”.

Think. Surprise… lean to the right. Confound, mix, back peddle, assault, pull back…

Migoya gave a sharp intake of breath before he crawled out of the metal drum.

“Ah you found him. Thank you Sir - my sister was looking for it”, Migoya said, putting on a sad smile and opening his eyes wide like a doe.

“Well, tell her she can pay for it back. Any way is fine”, the lecherous man responded, clearly not caring about Migoya’s plight as he continued to swing Mikki around.

Migoya… it hurts

Mikki…

Where Migoya was there was now a blur of movement, almost inhumanly quick, as Migoya ran to the right side of the man - his wounded side - binding Mikki in puppet strings and activating one of the many traps within the doll. Thick black smoke erupted, plunging the area into darkness.

But Migoya was no stranger to the dark. He ran, positioning himself between the two men who were swearing.

“Jerk… wad.”, Migoya stammered loudly, trying to be brave.

The intended result occurred as Migoya heard the scraping of the katana out of a scabbard, and the obvious swing at where Migoya’s voice had come from. However, instead of the screams of a boy the swearing of the other man grew louder.

“Hells Ryoku - what are you doing… sheesh that hurt!”, Hyoshi screamed, clearly hit by the biting blade.

“Wheres the little bugger - Im gunna gut him!”, came Ryoku’s reply as he blindly swung in the darkness.

Running towards where he knew the wall sharply rose, Migoya began to run upwards, his feet connecting to the wall with chakra. He was blind, yet he knew this alleyway - it was his home and playground. Running up the wall, Migoya soon found himself outside the darkness of the smoke bomb, Mikki holding onto his small back.

Fear gripped him as the smoke began to clear. Yes, he could run away but he would always be running. No. This ended now.

For Mikki.

It was a difficult jutsu to master, especially for a young person like him, but it was needed now. Latching onto Mikki once more, Migoya guided the puppet to the top of the roof, where there was a clear view of the two gang members.

“Im here Ryoku. And you want to gut me? Oh well - here is your chance,” Migoya gloated, surprised at the darkness of the words. “But first… fireworks”.

Manipulating his fingertips, Migoya caused Mikki to unleash hell - well, hell in the form of several explosive devices that erupted the alleyway into flames. Screams could be heard from down below as Migoya quickly pulled the puppet towards him and leapt down into the alleyway, ignoring the heat.

He pulled a small, rusted kunai from his pocket and moved towards the two thrashing figures, frantically rolling on the ground to put out their scorched clothing.

“So… which of you is going to try to gut me first?”, Migoya said coldly as he moved closer to Ryoku. “You? I think you will need hands to do that…”

“Enough”.

Migoya paused, shocked that someone had snuck up on him as he spun to see a well dressed man standing behind him.

“Ryoku, Hyoshi - leave. See to your wounds and tell no-one that a… boy bested you.”

Migoya quickly turned to see the two men stagger to their feet, before rushing away down the alleyway, there clothing still smoking. He turned back.

“I… they... “

The man smiled, but it did not reach his eyes. “They were stupid. Drunk. Idiotic. You were none of those, and as such I will forgive this assault against my family. This once.”

Migoya looked to the ground.

“Who taught you to do that”, the man inquired.

“What? Oh… the fire. Um.. the academy.”

“Ah - a young shinobi. And a… unique one too”.

Migoya looked to the ground, clearly concerned at what this man wanted.

“What is your name?”

“Ginku Sir”.

“A lie. You will need to learn to do that better if you wish to survive”, the man chuckled. Turning on his heal the man started to walk away.

“I am Jinkotsu Ren”, he said quickly. “And you, Ginku, should follow me”.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

It was a rare opportunity – a fight against someone equal to his own skill level.

His puppets, attached now to their respective chakra strings, flew around the dojo, taking shots at his opponent. A member of the Myakashi elite, this shinobi was an expert in counteracting Migoya’s puppeteering, using a mixture of strange jutsu and close range melee attacks. This sort of challenge is exactly what Migoya needed.

He ground himself, absorbing strength from his Earth Style Chakra stance, enabling him to continue a barrage of earth jutsu, fed through his puppets. His connection to the earth also helped him to blend once more into the shadows in order to hide.

Another puppet struck true, a red gash appearing on his opponents white gi – a sure way to ascertain a hit. Migoya smirked. Perhaps this isn’t such a battle after all… But a puff of smoke appeared, replacing his opponent with what appeared to be a kawarimmi target, primed with an exploding note.

Migoya reflexively pulled the puppet in front of him as the explosion set off, his pale face feeling the intense heat as it moved him off his feet. He cursed inside, but was inwardly joyful at the prospect of an actual challenge.
“Nice move,” Migoya said. He realized that this chakra stance, whilst useful, did not provide him with the necessary maneuverability he required to fully embrace his role as a Myakashi.

It was then he remembered his training.

His opponent appeared, running swiftly towards what appeared to be a confused Migoya. He lunged, finding nothing but air as Migoya super-humanly spun behind him.

“Checkmate”.

Puppets, a blur of shadows, rained down on the poor shinobi, each pinpointing a precise point, called shots, on his body. His neck broken, his arms, his feet – all broken. His opponent slumped to the floor, barely able to move.

Migoya gently reached down, the tell-tale glow of blue chakra coursing into his opponent as he healed his wounds.

“Thank you. Your instruction was most beneficial.”

The journey to the peak of Mt Kusin was a long one, made more difficult by the rapid change in temperature from the mid climate of central Fire Country, to the frigid mountain climb on the borders of Frost country. Certainly, the risk of being so close to the apparently rogue nation were high, but Migoya was certainly not one to be controlled by fear.

Migoya sat on the back of his summoned clay bird, shaped to form an eagle for speed and maneuverability. The wind whipped his snowy hair back, leaving his pale face to take most of the cold though his crimson eyes did not falter. A small wooden puppet peeked out from over his shoulder, supported by the oversized hood he had in what appeared to be a dirty, brown cloak.

Where are we going Migo-kun, the puppet asked, clearly not impressed with the scenery.

“We are going to a place I can practice without unwanted eyes. Where I can blast the crap out of things without alarm.”

The puppet seemed amused with the prospect of blowing things up.

Will there be ducks? I hate ducks.

Migoya chuckled, maneuvering the clay bird down below the cloudline to scout out the land below. Rich colours flooded the landscape below, despite his choice to travel at night. Moonlight shone on forests, lakes, hills and small villages, a patchwork that seemed to have been created by the Gods. The breeze on his face was enjoyable, yet he knew that tonight was the night that he put his training to work.

Too many people relied on him, and he had stretched himself (pun intended) into too many fields, focusing on the art of puppetry, of stealth and distraction. He now had a very clear purpose - one he had before - and would now focus solely on that goal. He would be a great ninjutsu user, perhaps the strongest… who knew. Of course there would be Uchiha, Rinnegan Users… but they would die. He would live, and collect, forever.
The peak stood before him, the snow capped peak shining from the moonlight like a dagger plunging into the darkness of the night sky. He willed his creation towards its peak, the biting cold quickly blasting across his face as he landed. Dismounting, Migoya was glad that he was an immortal creature that had the heat of five hearts beating in his chest. He stood alone (apart from Mikki) on top of the lonely mountain peak, far away from society, animals - life itself it seemed. The only sound was the rushing air as it danced around the mountain peaks, the shuffling of snow as it moved down the mountainside, and the rare whistle of a lost eddie. The cold was biting, sapping away the air itself and freezing anyone foolish enough to tempt its anger.

Migoya was foolish enough, for he needed to be.

Are you sure about this?, came the impression from his companion. Even Im cold, and Im made of wood!

Migoya, his face almost as cold as the snow around him, nodded. “I need a place to be able to release with no witnesses, no damage… so to speak.”

Pfft. So you can show off…

“No - so I can learn”.

A white robe flapped in the wind as the Med-nin adjusted his stance to one that would allow for the flow of chakra more easily. It was a difficult stance - one that enabled those practicing taijutsu to inflict more damage on you - but the returns for a ninjutsu specialist like Migoya were astronomical. The chakra flows opened at his command of the sorcerers style, and Migoya started to move his hands through complicated seals.

The first, Hurricane, was centered around himself. He called on the biting winds to swirl around him like a protective wall, even though the jutsu itself was offensive in nature. To this, using his already prodigious talents for elemental control, he added the element of fire. Flames swirled around him, pushing back the cold and causing the snow on the ground around the mountain to melt for perhaps the first time in millenia. The intensity of Migoya’s flames, being his primary affinity, was intense however the Myakashi was not complacent. No - he had practiced the ability to control the intensity of lessor jutsu and increase their power.

To the swirls of fire, he added the very earth itself, empowering a moderately less powerful jutsu from that element into the swirl. It had taken him months to learn the subtle manipulation of chakra needed to sculpt ones elemental affinity into the jutsu itself, causing it to burst more deeply, form more strongly. A true jutsu master knew the currents that flowed within themselves, and once one knew how it flowed one could control it.

A storm started to form overhead at the will of Migoya who once again called upon his chakra reserves to control the elements of wind and lightning. The storm grew, propelled by the will of this creature below, and as the skies opened, frigid water started to lap around the area. Crimson eyes watched with concentration as each element bent to his will, like a conductor controlling an orchestra. Fire, earth, wind, lightning, water… each was his to command and control, if he could master his use of chakra.

He recalled the lessons Grandmother Myaksahi had taught him. “Chakra is like water, churning within your body like a river. Water may recede, but it will return. Like water, chakra can be used as a weapon, rushing forth to strike the world, or to heal it. The choice is yours, but most importantly, you must not use up that well, for without it you are nothing…”

Migoya had taken the lesson to heart, choose to forgo the rigorous training of taijutsu, or the subtle influence of genjutsu - though both had their place - an focus on what he was naturally gifted at - ninjutsu. Now, more than ever, he needed to focus on developing his bloodline ability, as well as his natural gift of flame and earth.

First, he had studied under ninjutsu masters, learning the subtle art of inward focus in order to reduce the effort it took to use chakra. Like the water, as Grandmother Myakashi had stated, chakra was a pool that had to be drawn on in order to use jutsu. However, by the subtle methods taught to him, Migoya learned that through pressure one could do more with that water than others, and by doing so the reserve would not be as affected, but the same results could be achieved. He had practiced over several months this skill, hiding the fact that he was learning it from those who would perceive it as a weakness, but he had been successful, and now his ability to use chakra had multiplied.

Likewise, his training in manipulating chakra enabled him to now focus on infusing his jutsu with even more reserves of chakra, strengthening them which was what he was currently doing. He had specifically learned the art of conjuring protective barriers in an effort to increase his ability as a medic, pushing away the vicious assaults to both himself and others that were part and parcel of their occupation as shinobi. The subtle effects of increasing that ability, along with the benefits of his new stance and focus on jutsu manipulation would meet these constructions would be incredibly strong.

His attentions had turned to using ninjutsu to maximise his use of medical jutsu for distant contact, rather than relying on touching those he healed. It was a rare skill, and finding someone to teach it had been quite the difficult task indeed, but the Myakashi were nothing if not capable of locating something. It had been an old man, retired, who had shown him the skills in sending healing jutsu to another, and Migoya had learned well.

Yes, he was doing well.

Crismons eyes watched the elements that swirled around him, and he felt the extra power he could draw upon swirling around him. The mountain top was barren rock now, the head blasted away despite the frigid cold that permeated this area.

It was now time for the grand finale of this concert. Drawing on his newly developed chakra control, Migoya started to mould the elements of fire and earth together in only the way one of his bloodline would be stupid enough to do. Two B’Ranked jutsus, now empowered, blended together to create a volitile ball of chakra that crackled with unbridled power.

The bird was summoned, primarily to protect Migoya and Mikki from what was coming.

Sweat started to pool on Migoya’s brow - something incredibly uncommon for the alibo given his condition, as he raised his hands. White robeds fluttered midst the downpour as he focused, spinning the chakra around and around as if pushing it all together. With a flourish, he pulled the orb of explosive chakra down just as his clay bird covered him protectively.

RP for Concentrated Focus
Hold... hold... hold... . Migoya's mind whirred with thought as he continued to maintain his shadow bind against the unwilling dog. Certainly, he had no intention of harming the creature, but if he was going to master the shadowy nature of his blood, practice would make perfect. And who better to practice on than a lively young pup - a lively young pup who would not go and tell everyone about his newfound abilities.

The creature naturally struggled against the bind, whimpering in annoyance as it struggled to clear itself, unsuccessfully, from the shadowy tendrils. Lured in by the promise of a tasty treat the poor pup had no idea it was going to be used in such a manner - oh the indignity!

The concentration required to maintain the shadow bind was intense - several of the other binds Migoya had up his proverbial sleeves were easier to land, but this… this was his legacy and as such a mastery over it was paramount.

The intricacies that he had to focus on however required sacrifice and focus. For him to become the best at this particular skill, he had unfortunately lapsed in his jutsu abilities - once aggressive, but now requiring a different focus. Binding… yes binding required a more subtle art that mere flame and lightning. One had to embrace the opponent, lull them into a sense of security and then manipulate the threads of fate within them to stop them from moving.

Which was rather difficult right now as the dog thrashed against his bind. It did not take long however for the genius level intellect of Migoya to work out just how to hold the dog… properly. His work on his ability sated for now, Migoya released the jutsu and watched with mirth as the dog pelted away down a nearby alleyway.

Not everyone would be so lucky.

Puppets. Since he was a child Migoya had always been fascinated with them. They were a complex creation, more demanding than a simple kunai or sword yet more versatile in the hands of a master. Certainly if one wanted to do devastating damage one would choose a less… elegant instrument, but for a lonely young boy puppets became his friend. Quite literally.

Migoya twisted the screw in a bit tighter, ensuring the stability of this puppet, one named after the only person in the Hidden Leaf who had won his respect. Mikasa. He had wondered what had become of the Medical Sennin, fearing that she would suffer as a result of his rebellious outburst. Surely Konoha wouldn’t be that stupid… to hurt the only one who had any clue in how to heal the village.

Well, well, well. Decided to pick up yer toys once more.

Migoya looked up at his friend, who now regarded him with what could be a cheeky grin - that was if he had a face to begin with. Mikki spoke more with his body and with mental impressions more than anything else.

“Yes. It has been too long, and one should return to what one is best at.”

Who said you were any good at this?

Migoya gave a wry smile.

“I suppose no-one that has lived to tell about it. But we will be travelling soon, and its best to get ready for whats coming up. Just in case.”

Well, this new one… Mikasa isn’t it… looks boring.

“You do realise that you are probably the most boring puppet around Mikki, looks wise.”

Well, if I looked all sparkly I couldn’t get close to those ducks.

The screw now tightened, Migoya picked up the puppet, red glasses framing platinum locks in an almost exact replica of the med-sennin though several sizes smaller. It was Migoya’s way of showing respect - few individuals would ever be made into a permanent memory for the immortal puppeteer.

Chakra strings now attached themselves, forming a bond between Migoya and his weapon. Long-repressed memories resurfaced, and like a duck to water (without Mikki killing said duck of course), Migoya started the ‘dance’ of puppeteering, testing out the hidden tricks and traps of the weapon. Naturally it was perfect.

Not bad. Might ask for some alone time with that one…

“Mikki..” Migoya laughed as he caused the new puppet to flick out a kunai towards the Tsukumogami, knowing he would easily avoid it.

Hey! A puppet has needs!

"You do know that you are sick Mikki"

All the best things are. Why bother living if you cant have a life!"

Migoya chuckled again, the burden that he had carried for so long floating away slowly. For so long he had focused on being a supporter, a maintainer, a healer - but this was not his true calling. He was a fighter, a manipulator... a master puppeteer. Certainly, he would never go as far as becoming a puppet as others had done, that seemed rather... short sighted. Too focused. No, it was better to keep ones opponents on their toes.

He concentrated, the chakra strings being cut from one of his hands as his other hand picked up the slack. Puppeteering one-handed was a difficult feat at the best of times, but now he needed to focus and mould chakra with the other. He felt the weight of the chakra building as using one-hand to form the complex seals was always draining, but this was a familiar feeling. Like coming home.

The flames ignited as his jutsu was completed, bringing a wide grin to his porcelain features.

Migoya was back.
