As the sun began to dip below the horizon, and cast a fiery glow in the skies over the rugged mountains range within the lightning country, Sora's mission had just officially begun. She was to investigate the strange occurrence happening within the northern regions skies. There were reports of lightning storms popping up and suddenly disappearing out of no where, only to leave behind a strange and eerily calm sky. Sora wasn't a scientist by any means, but her mastery over the five base elements helped her feel confident in this endeavor. Still, she knew that unraveling the mystery of these strange weather patterns would take all of her deduction and reasoning skills. Setting out under the cover of night, Sora traveled out of the village and across the countries rugged terrain, headed north towards an area known by locals as "The Thunder Mountains". Appropriately named, due to the near constant thunder storms that looms over it's vast and treacherous mountain range.

Guided by the faint and flickering lightning strikes within the distant sky above, she continued further while paying close attention to her surroundings. Eventually making it to the foot of one of the many mountains within this range, she looked up to observe the storm in all of it's beauty. "The Audacity Of lightning." She softly whispered. Just a faint moment later, the same lightning storm that guided her to this place, began to fade. Her eyes widened, as she realized that the reports were true; storms that plagued this region were somehow dissipating, seemingly out of nowhere. After one final, and rather large, lightning strike towards a neighboring mountains peak, the storm and it's clouds were gone. The night sky was empty, calm, and bright as moonlight quickly peaked into every crack and crevice within her sight. It was at this moment that Sora behind to experience an overwhelming sense of concern.

Pulling off her backpack, and searching through it for her notepad and pen, she began to write down everything she had just witnessed. She had seen with her own eyes that the reports of this incident were true. Something strange like this didn't just happen in nature, at least not without a cause and Sora knew that. Alongside what she had witnessed, she also wrote down which mountain, within the range, the lightning had struck specifically. With all that said and done, she put the notepad back up and decided to set up camp. Seeing this happen was interesting, but truthfully she had hoped this was just a weak storm burning itself out. With her tent pitched, a warm campfire to help fight off the cold, she sat down on a fallen log she had drug near by. Heating up some food, she continually glanced up towards the sky and watched as more storm clouds approach the vicinity.

As she had expected, it wouldn't be long until she might get to see this phenomenon happen again. Over the course of the night, staying up the entire time, she witnessed this happen nearly a dozen times. Each time, recording how long the storm lasted, and how each began to dissipate after striking a specific mountains peak, within her notepad. As the Moonlight began to disappear and the sun began to rise, Sora put out her campfire and laid down to rest. Normally this mountain range would remain cloudy, foggy, and dark because of the storms, but probably because of what was happening here, it seemed calm throughout the day. In her mind, there was no point in investigating the matter further at this point, at least not until nightfall. Sleeping peacefully for a solid eight hours, and waking up early into the evening, Sora go up and got ready for the day. After having a small meal, she began to pack up her camp and get rid of any trances of her being there. Looking back at the notes she had taken the night before, she began heading towards the foot of mountain that the lightning had struck before the storms disappeared.

Feeling the cold breeze and noticing the buildup of snow upon the rugged terrain before her, she knew that as she drew closer, things would begin to get more difficult from here on out. As she passed through remote trails, and passed several hidden caverns, she eventually made it to the foot of the mountain that seemed to be drawing the storm clouds in. Finding a path up the mountain side, she began to walk it as the sun once again began to dip below the horizon. Continuing forward for what seemed like hours, she watched as storms formed, struck the mountain top, and dissipated just like the night before. She recorded this as she walked the pathway, until the pathway seemingly vanished. "Hmmm.... The Lightning Strikes couldn't destroyed part of the pathway." She thought, as she focused her chakra into her legs and feet. Using her Chakra, she jumped and began to climb higher towards the mountains peak. Luckily for her, this was just an average mountain in terms of height, compared the some of the others within the region.

In less than half the time it had previously taken her to scale the mountain side by just walking, she was now approaching it's peak after having passed through what seemed to be fogs or clouds obscuring the view of its peak from the ground. It was than that she heard the thundering boom of lightning, as she witnessed it strike the opposite of the mountains peak. Once again, the storm began to slowly dissipate, and now that she had witnessed this strange occurrence this close, her interest was peaked. Quickly, she darted towards the strike and glanced upon the mountains side and bore witnessed to a view of beauty and legend. It was a young 'Thunder Bird', small in size but still considerably larger than she. "They actually exist...." She said under her breathe, as she began to crawl closer. Growing up, Sora had heard many stories about these creatures but she never really thought they were real, at least until this very moment. "So, a thunder birds been drawing the lightning in?" She thought, as she laid and slowly pulled out her notepad.

Recording this sight in her note book, she wrote down a description of this beast, and her thoughts on the matter. She didn't know why this animal was here, or what it was exactly doing to the thunder clouds, but she was certain it had something to do with it. While doing this, she noticed more clouds begin to form around the mountains peak. She knew she was in danger; being this close to the storm, it would be nothing for the lightning to skip through the sky and strike her. Her heart was racing, but even in the face of danger, her bold nature held true as she continued to look at this magnificent creature. It appeared to be living here, within a uniquely designed nest consisting of sticks, bark from trees, and rubble. Lifting up and looking around, she noticed what appeared to be another one of these creatures, except lifeless and stiff. "Is this thing... just a baby?" She asked herself, as she heard and witnessed the first thunderous boom of lightning strike the creature before her. Her eyes widened, as she watched it seemingly 'eat' the lightning.

"Did that thing just eat lightning? What's going on here?" She also asked herself, as she watched the storm dissipate before her eyes. Writing this down in her notepad as well, she closed it and stood up. Not only was her mission to investigate and find out what was causing this, but it was to also solve the problem. She had heard stories of people slaying these creatures, and judging by the dead carcass of one of these things near by, she figured someone else had already been here before. Glancing at the beast, she performed hand seals, and watched as it took notice of her. She was about to solve the problem, here and now, by slaying this beast with the power of the leviathan within her. An aura of water based chakra began to surround her, cloaking her as the Leviathans form began to manifest. It was at this moment that the creature tried to take flight, only to be stopped in mid air, causing it to slam into the carcass of the other creature beside it. It appeared to be bound by chains, specifically with one wrapped around one of it's legs.

"No.." She blurted out, as she suddenly realized the situation. Someone had located the nest, slayed the parent, laid a trap and ensnared the young bird. While trapped, it began to consume the energy from the lightning clouds to sustain itself. Who knew exactly how log it had been trapped. As Sora's Elemental Cloak began to fade, a tears run down her eyes. She was about to 'attack' and possibly 'kill' this creature to solve the problem, when such actions were unnecessary. Drawing fourth her Katana, and channeling Lightning throughout herself and the blade, she speed forward towards the creature and it's chains in the blink of an eye. Slashing the chain links and severing them, the creature took to flight and quickly disappeared into the distance. Sheathing her blade, she let out a sigh of relief and began her making her way back down the mountain side for the night. Sticking around the foot of the mountain, she watched as the storms raged brilliantly within nights sky. With the cause of these strange weather patterns resolved, and the logs of her mission recorded down to the last detail in her notepad, she began her journey back home to the cloud village.
