Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Keiji had spent the entire day training. Sitting in his training area, located behind the bar. He was finishing up the training of the day containing Taijutsu, chakra, and a little bit of book reading. Meditating was a new thing he had begun doing lately, after having finished his training. Time was late at night, far after dinner time, the bartender had given him a meal earlier so he didn't need to go home to eat, and he knew both his parents had gotten home early, so Jin had eaten properly. Keiji didn’t want to see him starve at any rate, and he wasn’t sure if he could even cook properly, since Jin was always just reading. Keiji gave a small smile imagining him attempting to cook in their broken down kitchen. The meditation was helping him controlling the flow of chakra flowing through his body, he had figured out how to maintain the paper ball technique while still being able to punch through wooden boards with the use of chakra. But after having properly managed it he always needed to take a quick breather.

The aforementioned bar the training area was located behind, was his secretly hidden spot only the owner, the regulars and bartenders of the bar knew of Keiji and his training area, it was sort of like a small back-alley Keiji was using, the owner suddenly found Keiji using the spot for hitting and kicking wooden boxes, so they offered Keiji being able to use the spot as much as he pleased, as long as he was willing to run a few errands around town for the bar a few times. By errands it is meant that he would run around picking up supplies for the bar, like bottles, emptying trashcans and doing the dishes whenever he was asked to do it. This served as a great spot for him to spend his free time, training and working.

The day was winding down for Keiji, he had spent the entire day training. He got up, stretched his arms, legs and body. He grabbed his shoulder bag, and headed his way through the bar, “Oh hey Keiji!” Keiji merely waved in response he wanted to get home as quick as possible to sleep. “Would you mind doing the dishes tonight?” The bartender asked in a happy tone. Keiji stopped up, and turned around. “Sure! Let me get right to it!” Keiji wasn’t afraid to take on a challenge, since it was late night, and he was a bit tired admittedly, but he didn’t back down. He pulled up his sleeves and began doing the dishes in the kitchen. There was a lot of dishes and it took it’s time to finish.

Time passed and it got late, after midnight. Keiji wiped the sweat off his forehead, then wiped his dripping hands off in a cloth, grabbed his shoulder bag and went out behind the bar “There we go Otis, job done!” He said to the currently stationed bartender. “Sweet job Kei! Thanks! You can go home now, see you later!” Otis the bartender waved at Keiji as he went passed him on his way out. “Bye!” Keiji waved up in the air as he was facing the door leading out and walking out.

~Please listen to the following~
SOUNDTRACK OF THE MOMENT
As the music starts (takes a few seconds) Then begin reading. •

The night was a bit chilly, so he tucked his clothes a little tighter as he went on his way home.
The streets were empty, darkness filled the streets, and there was not a soul in sight.
It was a calm night, and Keiji relished in the silence around him, he liked nights like these, just walking around by himself in the empty streets.
Knowing full well a house filled with family and loved ones was waiting for him.
It was.. Lovely to say the least..
He thought back on the classes he has gone through during his time as a Genin and academy student.
The new friends he had gotten, and the smiles he kept seeing every day, a small smile grew on his lips.

Until..

He suddenly heard the sound of a bottle hit solid surface and then a flash of light in the far background; the light came from about the same location as his house.
A knot came into his throat, he didn’t like it, he got scared and began running towards the source of the light, he ran as hard and as fast as he has ever run in his entire life, tears began dripping from his eyes, he had a feeling about what it was, and why, the knot only increased in density and strength the closer he got to the light. Keiji was almost out of breath, he felt it difficult to breath, dark thoughts and scary imaginations came through his mind, his legs began to hurt, the pain was ignored, and he kept going.
The adrenalin was running, coursing through his body like nothing ever before.
He heard laughter and cheers, and the crackle of flame as he got closer, a shortcut leading to the area of his house, the path was exactly the same, the knot only grew wider, and his breathing got deeper.
He reached his.. Home.. Light.. Fire.. People.. Cheers.. Kill.. Destruction..
He lost focus, he heard someone amidst the small crowd of men and women shout “NOW THE CURSE IS GONE! FOREVER!
Keiji’s fists was clenched almost instinctively. These people.. Deserve nothing but pain.. His thoughts grew into hatred.. Destroy.. Destroy..
His nails penetrated the skin in his palms and blood began dripping from his clenched fists.
He had met these kinds of people before, but never this extreme, Keiji had been beaten, kicked and humiliated many times when they saw his white eyes a trait not commonly seen, so his heritage became an easy thing to guess at.
But never.. This.. Extreme..

The fire had already overtaken most of the house. There wasn’t any screams coming from out of the house.
Adrenalin overtook his thoughts, he ran, he ran through the crowd pushing them to the side, they didn’t expect someone from behind them, he ran straight through them into the house, avoiding the fire, avoiding the worst fire anyway. He ran through the fiery corridors of his house, his parent’s bedroom was inaccessible, the fire had already taken the entire room, the smell of burned oil penetrated his nostrils, he could see through the fire black scorched bodies on the bed, his parents. The tears in his eyes increased in density, he ran further through the corridors, the floorboards creaking underneath him, he reached his brother’s room, burned oil again, there. On the floor, was another, scorched blackened body. The fire had taken the room, Keiji didn’t feel anything, not even the burning fire that had taken the bottom trouser legs, the seething heat was affecting his legs but he didn’t care. Quickly he noticed a half burned small black book, he grabbed it. His.. His book.. He turned towards the door leading out of the house, with clenched fists, eyes pulsating and tears running down his eyes and down his cheeks he walked out.

ptSRpoJ.png

Standing outside the house, a thunder crackled far away, the thundering sound of the storm scaring the crowd for an instant. Rain began falling, the storm had arrived. Keiji’s fists were bleeding still, he began running towards the crowd, with his eyes wide open staring at the nearest person, only then did they realize who he was. He reached forward with his clenched fists as he ran towards the first man, unprepared as he was he was hit right in the stomach the sound of crackling bones could be felt as Keiji hit him with all his speed and weight. The rain was hitting the ground hard, Keiji kept punching the man, again, again and again. When he finally stopped, the man’s face was beaten to a pulp, and it seemed like he had lost consciousness. Next guy approached Keiji with his hands clenched into a fist, he punched towards Keiji, but he was prepared, and in an instant of a flash Keiji grabbed his hand and held his weight, and hand in his own, Keiji merely stared deeply into his eyes, those deep blue eyes with the white pupils penetrating through his skull, the man was frightened. Keiji pushed his hand to the side making the man lose his balance and just as his eyes were off Keiji, he punch him in the gut, making him fall to the ground in front of Keiji. His ears tuned to his surroundings and a strange sensation of a presence alerted him of someone from behind. Keiji dropped down on his knees in an instant he extended his clenched fist behind him. Another enemy, the man behind him attempting to catch him off guard, was he himself caught off guard making him fall straight ahead with his face about to hit the asphalt, Keiji's extended fist hit the man in the face making him go out cold. He lands next to the others. Then, as he stood above the three men lying in front of him, he looked over the rest of the crowd.
They all except for the three downed men began running, running away, from Keiji, from the house, from the entire event.

Keiji fell to the ground in tears, sitting on his burned knees, his entire left leg was burned, searing pain suddenly came through his body, and he knew he couldn’t last for much longer in his current state.
He got up, barely and limped his way to a nearby fence, he remembered the address he was given by his previous sensei, Shinrya Kitsune. Kitsune-sensei was his best bet, being a medical ninja she was the best option for him. Keiji began limping, leaning against walls and fences. It was a long walk, especially in his speed. As he made his way towards Kitsune’s house. He reached the door to her mansion, he leaned against the wall next to the door, his head was hurting, a greater headache he had never had, he lifted his arm up high, and slammed the door all he could, again and again. His body suddenly fell weak, darkness came in front of his eyes, and he couldn’t see all of a sudden, the pain was excruciating, he fell to the ground in front of the door. Last he saw before his eyes grew completely dark was the door, opening, and familiar feet. He lay there in front of Kitsune’s doorstep, burned left leg, the burn was partly through the flesh, his eyes were completely dried due to his crying, both his fists were bleeding, his body and head was cold due to the rain and his body was weak and the adrenalin had left him at a complete loss of energy. He was out cold.

What is the situation said:
Keiji's home and entire family is burned to the ground, Keiji is alone, currently lying on the doorstep to Kitsune's House He is completely unconscious. He managed to knock on the door 3 times before completely going off.

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

Man... This evening is so uneventful... Those thoughts had been circling Kitsune’s mind for far too long, so she decided to take matters into her own hands and wandered out of her second floor office, down the stairs to the kitchen, and began cooking something nice. She wasn’t exactly an experienced chef, but she knew her way around a kitchen. All she had to do was see it as medical matter. The ingredients were the drugs needed to make the operation succeed. That usually worked. And today was no different. After a few hours, she had prepared a few pounds of pulled pork, and stuffed it into the oven, and in true TV-Chef style, she pulled out the batch she had put in 12 hours before.
After stuffing the pork into a mini-baguette, she seasoned it with various things and carried it to her library, only to then go down to the basement and grab herself a bottle of red wine. "Αστραπές χώρα περίπου πριν από πενήντα χρόνια... Should do just nicely." she said to herself before wandering back to her library, intending to sit down, eat her dinner, read a good book, and drink some good wine.

*Knock knock knock*

Go figure that Kitsune had just sat down to eat, when there was a knock on the door. Or rather, a hammering. Knock would be an understatement. She got out of her comfy chair and went to the door in her usual pace, but when she opened the door, and saw Keiji covered in what looked to be burn wounds, she immediately picked up speed, got him inside and into her office, where she kept a sizeable stock of medicine and other things of the sort.
She immediately started cleaning the wounds, making sure that they were sterilized before she proceeded to perform emergency healing on him. Mystical Hand wouldn’t be enough here, Keiji would need more power than that. Kitsune rushed to the cabinet and got out a syringe with a distilled chakra-solution, that would help Keiji’s body in reconstructing itself in combination with her healing chakra.
She injected the liquid directly into Keijis heart as was written on the bottle she had taken it from, and then started healing the poor boy. At the same time she wondered what the heck could’ve happened to him.

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

Keiji found himself in an empty, dark space, with nowhere to go. It was dark, cold and lonesome. He lay on the cold ground in fetal position, in an attempt to comfort himself in this dark place. A light suddenly appeared above him, a few crackles could be heard above him as the light began shining through, at first the light was small and tiny and it hit right next to him, as he noticed he felt intrigued and stretched his arm out to feel the light. It was warm and comforting to the touch, and it felt like it was what he had sought for all his life, the power, the strength, the energy, it felt beautiful.

As he looked up to see where the light originated from the blackness above him began to crumble more, and more light began to emerge. Keiji rose up and reached upwards towards the light, the further he stretched the harder it got for him, he felt gravity pulling him down, his muscles tightening, and breathing was getting more and more difficult. As he kept reaching upwards he felt his entire body rising further and further up, he felt like he was getting closer to the top, and to the origin of the shining light. As he was doing this inside of his dreams the veins around his eyes on his body were pulsating greatly his body was heating up and he was sweating. in his dream he suddenly lost his breath, his muscles gave up and he began to fall, he fell immensely far and fast.

For a brief moment he felt as if life was in a standstill around him, like time stood still, nothing, no movements or anything. Just.. Silence.. CRASH! Just as he felt himself hitting the bottom. The needle had been injected into his heart, eyes still shut. In the dream his body felt like it had gotten hit by an anvil, his chest hurting for a quick second, breathing was minimum, and then suddenly he was again.. Alone.. The light above him had vanished as he fell down.. He if at least anything, slightly more calm over everything.

What happens said:
While lying on the bed Keiji bites his teeth together and breathes heavily, his forehead heating up and the veins around his eyes started to show themselves ever so slightly. It all escalates until the needle is stuck into Keiji's skin and the chakra solution is injected into his heart. At that moment his body had quieted and seemed more calm. The veins around his eyes are very apparent and it seems like all his facial muscles are in constant pressure. Teeth are still grinding together, but it is not escalating, It's like it is all at a complete standstill.

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

Sometimes swinging a large heavy weapon against a dummy in a training dojo isn't satisfying. Sometimes it only makes memories surface that nobody wants to deal with. Sometimes you just need to get out of closed rooms and into places that are filled with light and sound... and sometimes you need to talk to people. Hikari rolled her shoulders, rubbed the irritation off her face and rushed out of the room, not yet certain as to where she would go, though her feet carried her swiftly into the oncoming dark. She allowed herself to be swept up in the urge to run, and run she did, over grass and into the city. She kept herself to the rooftops. Who needs footpaths when you're a ninja?

Hikari sat down on the edge of a shop roof, breath coming out in visible puffs, and asked herself, "Where to now, Hikari?" She thought back to the night, hardly a week ago, when she and the others had become Genin by protecting a group of students from a monster in the school. "Fun stuff." She grumbled, "Why those guys didn't get there sooner, I'll never know." She remembered that her classmates had each experienced some sort of trauma, and frowned. "Only seen Kahako since then. Maybe I should go visit the others?" She nodded to herself, and stood up. Only, when she stood up, she noticed the acrid scent of smoke on the air, and coughed. It wasn't a stove or hearth fire. She could tell that from what she smelled... and there, a good distance away, there was a large bright spot. Like a pyre or- "A house." She cursed, and took off in that direction. No time to go for help, she was probably already too late for the people inside-

As she reached the edge of the buildings nearby, she leaped off, and on the ground, turning to her feet as gracefully as possible. "People!" She cried, "Is there anyone else inside? We need to put this fire out! If we don't the fire will spread to other homes-"

Those surrounding the house largely ignored her, shouting something about a curse, and thanking the gods that it was over. She looked back at the house, and growled, "People, I am a Kunoichi of Kumogakure, In the name of the Raikage and our lords, I command you help me put these flames out!"

Thunder boomed somewhere not far off, and rain followed it quickly. "Do you hear me?" She shouted, grabbing hold of a man nearby. "Water. Now."

"Why would we put out the fire? We set it!"

Hikari shoved the man to the ground, and pulled out her training hammer, the one she'd forgotten to put away earlier. "Is there anyone inside?"

"There was." Crowed someone she couldn't see, "Three, and then a fourth!" The rain began to come down harder now, dousing the fire and washing away the acceleration. "Unfortunate the fourth didn't die with his family." The crowd revealed a badly beaten man, who was laying still and unconcious far enough away from the house to be safe.

"If it weren't for the rain, the lot of you would burn, and I would be happy for it." Hikari barked. "What happened to him?" She pointed at the man. "He defended his family, and you-"

"No! The fourth went away, after nearly killing this man. Damned Kagatsuchi."

"Keiji is a Kagatsuchi." Hikari said. "Where did he go?"

"Why should we tell you?" The collective raged.

"To atone for your sins." Hikari spat. "I will be reporting this to my superiors. They will find you. They will punish you." And with that, Hikari used her skills to disappear from sight, causing the mob to panic and disperse. The fire was largely out, as the rain had steadily increased its output since it began, but she had an idea of where Keiji went. Call it intuition. She took the roof path toward her Kitsune-sensei's home. If one were injured, traumatized, what better place to seek refuge than a Mednin who was one's sensei?

When she arrived, she noted that it was indeed as large and pretty as the woman had described. She followed the shortest path to the most easily accessible entrance, here and there picking up the ghost of a footprint in the mud. After a moment, she reached the door, hoping that Keiji had come here. If he hadn't, she would still ask for help. With that, she knocked on the door, and ran a hand through her humidity frazzled hair.

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

Almost as quickly as the red-haired girl had made her pronouncement of impending justice, cracks of bolter-fire rang out from the previously-still streets, along with the characteristic whooshing sounds of containment jutsu, and the shouts and protests of men being beaten as they fled. A large house-fire and an angry mob did not go unnoticed for long in a shinobi village, and it was only a matter of time until the Main Branch’s police forces arrived on scene to start a much-needed crackdown. In addition, someone else had arrived on scene as well, hair tousled, grumpy-looking, and still nursing fresh wounds from an earlier fight.

“Godrotting damnit, where’s that Fire Marshal when you need her?” asked Masao under his breath as he shielded his face from the intense, penetrating heat of the smoldering building in front of him. The burned wreckage sent a toxic black plume of smoke skywards, visible even in the night, and eerie shadows from flames within danced without restraint, coloring the entire macabre scene in plays of contrast. “Gentlemen, you know the drill. I need a casualty report as soon as possible,” he said, addressing two jounin in long overcoats who stood nearby and seemed to be directing a small group of Main Branch.

“Not that our Sennin is doing his job anyway, but I have to ask: Do you actually have jurisdiction here, Gensui Rikugun Taishou of the ANBU?” asked one of the jounin, a senior CID inspector.

“Actually, Ginoza-kanshikan, I do. By order of the Raikage, while Sennin Fujinami awaits his hearing, I have authority to operate in his stead. That makes me the effective head of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Main Branch,” said Masao, unrolling a piece of parchment written in the archaic ancient language of Kumo and stamped at the bottom with Hayata Shin’s purity seal.

“Very well, sir,” said the inspector, Ginoza, looking over the document and nodding in satisfaction. “As you can see, we’ve already apprehended a few suspects, and are in the process of tracking down the others. This was a very large group of individuals who just fired the Suzaku place. None of them are registered shinobi as far as we can tell,” he said as he motioned to the nearby wall, where four of the men, including one very badly-beaten one, spread-eagled their hands against the stone while undergoing a vigorous frisking by a pair of genin enforcers.

“Do we have any casualties?” asked Masao, trying to pin the name down in his memory banks. Suzaku… where had he heard that before?

“None so far. We’re trying to go through the house right now.” said Ginoza, as jets of summoned water now arced from the ground under control of his underlings and splashed against the house to douse any residual pockets of flame and potential explosion. “The only confirmed sighting of an inhabitant was one of the boys, a new academy graduate named Keiji, who ran in, then exited and proceeded to beat up one of the suspects before passing out himself.”

“Hmm. Where’s this Keiji character now?”

“He’s being taken care of across the street – he apparently entered the mednin training program, and one of his instructors, a Shinrya by name, is sheltering him for now,” said Ginoza, pointing toward the gaudy four-story McMansion across the way.

“We’ll have to stop by there and interview him,” said Masao, eyeing the structure with distaste. Brings down the real estate value of the entire block, he thought, shaking his head. Just then, one of the other CID men, a chuunin, approached the pair breathlessly.

“Inspector, we’ve found bodies. Two adults in the bed, one child in another room. No signs of struggle so far.”

“This arson just became a multiple-murder. How charming,” growled Ginoza.

“Something’s bothering me," said Masao, scratching his chin. "That family, Suzaku. They’re former bigshots who fell on hard times. But even still, they should’ve been able to defend themselves from non-shinobi trying to burn their place down. And at the very least, not burn to death in their beds without a fight. I have a feeling these mooks over here didn’t act alone,” he said, thumbing in the direction of the arrestees. “We’re going to see the kid. See what he says.”

A few minutes later, Masao and the inspector were at the front entrance to the Shinrya compound.

“This is the CID! We need to talk to Suzaku Keiji!”

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

Kitsune had her hands full with trying to get Keiji to a stable state, so when there was a knock on the door, she didn’t immediately open. Instead she hurried and stabilized Keiji by use of a second chakra infusion so he wouldn’t need constant attention. She then hurried downstairs to the door and opened it, only to see Hikari there with with a hand going through her hair. ”I’m assuming you’re here for Keiji, he’s upstairs, first room on the right. No touchy, he’s not fully stable yet.” she said before closing the door behind Hikari after she had entered.

What else could happen… she thought to herself as she went up the stairs, only to hear another knock on the door, she sighed heavily, and went all the way back down, back over to the door and she opened it just as a voice yelled out ”This is the CID! We need to talk to Suzaku Keiji!”.
”You don’t have to yell. My hearing is perfectly fine.” Kitsune said in a slightly irritated tone. ”You’re welcome to come in, and wait, in case he wakes up. But currently, talking to Keiji is not possible. He’s out cold.” she continued while eyeing the inspector, before looking at Masao and raising an eyebrow ”That doesn’t explain why you’re here though, Masao. Did you get assigned to Main Branch duty despite you being ANBU? Or is it a punishment for being a womanizer again?” she asked him and smirked before stepping aside, letting the two men in.

She went up the stairs, assuming that Masao and the inspector followed her ”He’s up here. Hikari should be in there with him. she said and went into the office, where Keiji was. What a mess this evening turned out to be. No dinner. Sudden conversion of my office to emergency room, because Keiji shouldn’t be moved. And now the CID and Masao are here? What did you get yourself into this time Kitsune…

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

[spoilername="OOC"]Right now I have linked this topic to a request in the Cloud Request area. The next post will be the determining one whether or not it gets accepted.[/spoilername]

He found himself still deep inside the dream. Darkness surrounding him, he laid on the ground with a chill through his body he felt himself shivering and then a sudden burst like lightning ran through his body as Kitsune injected his body with another infusion. The darkness in the dream was overwhelming, the ground beneath him felt like it was burning acid, burning his skin ever so slowly, but Keiji just ignored and accepted the pain. Keiji had lost his will to live, without his brother to protect, without his parents, he felt alone, like he didn’t belong anywhere anymore. Suddenly, the light returned, crackling through the ceiling of darkness situated above him, except this time, Keiji remained in his position, lying down on the dark, cold surface. He remained there as the first light penetrated the darkness, Keiji merely ignored it. More light penetrated through and hit Keiji’s hand, as it did, the slight warmth of the touch felt uneasy for him, he moved his hand away, and tried to avoid it. The more light that got through, the more Keiji moved away from the light, he ended in a corner like situation, the light penetrating through, he had reached the edge, he couldn’t move any further, the light suddenly started lighting around him, a small dark circle was all he found himself upon. The light attempted to seem welcoming attempting to get his attention ever so slightly. He ignored it, and stayed his ground. Keiji began hearing voices around him in the midst of the dream.

“Bro?~ .. Bro?~ .. Bro?~” As he heard the voice, tears began dripping down from his eyes and down his cheeks, falling down onto the ground beneath him, every drop that hit made a ripple, like when water is disturbed. Keiji felt weak, and frail. “Bro, you need to get up..” Keiji tightened his fist and hit the ground with all his strength as he shouted downwards with all the air in his lungs making the blackness underneath him shatter, yet he remained situated in his place. “I CANT!” These words were so strongly connected to his inner turmoil his own lips screamed them out in his sleep. Tears dripped from his eyes as he kept looking down into the darkness. “Of course you can bro, you’re Keiji.. Suzaku Keiji!” The voice proclaimed in a slightly upset tone. Light began touching the back of Keiji’s head, as it did, the warmth felt inviting, strengthening.

Death2_zpsc8425cf3.png

He looked forward, and he saw a figure, not very tall, with a weird and scruffy top, he couldn’t see much as the light came from behind the figure rendering the face near impossible to see properly, but Keiji felt like he knew the figure very clearly. Keiji’s entire body fell suddenly away from everything; he was falling down, down and down. He looked down, and as the light faded away from above him, he saw a surface at the bottom, he reached for it, and turned his body around, as he made the attempt he felt like gravity was trying to move him around, he fell slower, and landed on the surface safely. The energy in his body was replenished, he looked ahead in front of him and he saw the same figure again.
Death4_zps089ea3f0.png
This time the figure gave the thumbs up and he could clearly see a smile. A smile grew on Keiji’s lips, he looked up and felt re-assured, looked back down in front of him, the figure had suddenly vanished. He took a step back, and looked back up again, the light began penetrating down to him again, it reached all the way down, and it consumed Keiji, the entire dream state around him all that what was black turned white all around him.

Again, he began reaching up, his body tightening, muscles tightening he saw the sky-like light above him get closer and closer the further he reached. His muscles were tightening outside of the dream as well, his eyes and forehead were heating up, the veins around his eyes pulsating again, and he began talking, mumbling; “Must.. Reach... Aargghh” held tight to whatever they might have grabbed a hold to, and if not something else, then he held tight onto the bedside. Back in the dream he got closer, closer, closer, and closer He felt like his arms were just about to grasp the edge, the beginning the origin of light, the power, the strength, that one thing he had sought for his entire life!

........
What happens said:
Keiji was silent, until Kitsune injected him yet again.
Right as he was infused he moaned loudly in pain, and then it subsided, indicating he was at least a little bit calmed and stabilized.
Keiji’s body was calm until Hikari walked her way up the stairs, in the dream at this point Jin appeared. Keiji’s teeth grinded together and a tear escaped his eyes. Suddenly as if indicating great pain he almost screamed in frustration through his grinded together teeth which only Hikari could hear Then he calmed again. After a little while a slight smile appeared on his lips, his hands opened up, almost as if awaiting to be held. Another tear escaped his eyes.

Suddenly his head warms up, sweat starts soaring out of his pores, and he screams in pain, as his muscles tighten, his hand grips together, and clenches, his teeth grinding together, the veins around his eyes enlarge themselves almost to the point where It might seem they would be bursting. A large, and pained scream escapes his mouth, as if his whole body was screaming for relief. Amidst the painful screams and grinding teeth few words escape his mouth; “Must.. Reach... Aargghh”

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

The hue of red in the village, no smoke to be seen in the backdrop of the night sky. Kushin stood in his house, his wife by his side holding their child, but not him. They stood like strangers. Strangers who shared the same bed, had a child together and occassionally ate together. Silence was their conversation, quiet was their comforting.

He didn't really want to head out to see what was going on, but at the same time he wondered if there was something more important afoot. With all the trouble Makoro had been causing for the village he couldn't be lax. His eyes moved to the beauty beside him, then to the child which had their joined features. A shrug with a nod in reply was all that needed to be said. Then he was gone into the night.

Moments later he neared the location. He maintained a distance, often simply rushing in wasn't the best of ideas. If it were some assassin then perhaps the combat needed support rather than another body getting in the way. Yet it seemed fairly harmless.

There were a group of people, three men down with a couple of others making sure they were okay. They were okay as far as Kushin cared. Barely sparing them a glance he looked at the house. Someone called for water, Kushin figured that was probably a good idea, it was unlikely that no-one here had any water jutsu. Yet... the oddity had taken its time in striking him, and just before they spoke he knew the truth. They had set the fire. That was why none moved to stop it.

His mind didn't deem them vile, horrible or anything else. It was simply curious. Why would they set it and then stand around to admire their handywork? Clearly they must have been proud of their acheivement. Except as he listened he learned. One got away. His eyes moved to the men again, this time actually paying attention to their injuries. They hadn't been dragged from the fire, they'd received fighting wounds. The fourth most likely.

It was interesting being a part from the gaggle. The one he didn't recognise seemed to know the person, and assumed it was the fourth. The name chimed in his ear, and his memory moved to a young boy who stole some chickens, and then damned a man to imprisonment in the Takao institution, which he himself ran. Oh yes, Keiji. A small smile appeared then vanished at the thought of how that boy might be useful in the future. His eyes looked at the scene before him, if he lived long enough to have one.

The girl left, she seemed to know where it was she wanted to go. Where she felt Keiji would be. Masao had arrived by this point as well, escorted by investigators. There was nothing more he could do here. Though they confirmed Keiji's location. He wondered. Should he go there? No, though it could be interesting with an attempted murder on the boy he'd be well protected. Kushin likely wouldn't even be able to get close without being detected.

He turned as the men were detained, and left once more. There was much to interest him here. Much to learn. Yet time would reveal the answers he sought. For now he would simply leave and let Masao do his job.

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

Hikari waited a moment. There was no mistaking the house, even f she'd never seen it. It like a lioness among fat cats. Rich people made pretty houses. Kunoichi made fortresses. She went to knock again while running her other hand through her hair, but before she could, the door swung open, and Kitsune ushered her in with the admonishment of "no touchy" and brief but specific directions. "Yeah, is he alright?" She asked as she went inside, headed for the stairs. If Kitsune heard her, she was interrupted by another knock, and a shout which sounded muffled from the stairs, where Hikari stood. She went upstairs anyway because Kitsune didn't seem all that perturbed.

As she entered the room which seemed to be an office. She stopped in the door, tensing because the boy looked awful. Worse than any time she'd seen him. "Hey, they got the guys who hurt your family, Keiji." She said when she could force herself to speak. She edged inward, then sat down near the bed. He gritted his teeth and let out a painfully restrained shout. If she could have helped him, she would have, but she was unused to sickness. Even injury was not familiar. In her experience, either people were well enough to fight, or they were dead. She didn't know what to make of a boy she'd fought alongside writhing in the grips of something that was clearly more than physical, and out of her range of expertise. "Damn it." She said, "What the hell was-" She stopped and shook her head. No questions could solve it. No epithets. All she could do was sit there and wait... wonder, "Where is Kitsune-san?"

She heard more muffled sounds from downstairs, and then footsteps. She looked back at Keiji uncomfortably, hating her inability to make the situation better, but then his face relaxed and his breathing leveled. Good... She thought, then before those coming up the stairs had reached the room, he began writhing again. His face became sweaty, his eyes seemed to swell, or something. Hikari shouted, "Kitsune, Something's happening-"

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

“Doctor, a crime of shocking brutality has been committed across the street. Our most important witness is under your care. Can’t you do something to rouse him faster?” asked Ginoza impatiently, flashing his badge at the woman. Masao laid a gentle hand on the man’s shoulder.

“It can’t be helped, Inspector. Unfortunately, she has to do what’s clinically right for the boy. Forcing him to wake faster might cause more damage,” said the Vice Commander, shaking his head. He looked at the mednin now. “Greetings, Foxy-chan. Sorry to report, but, my womanizing days are behind me. Married, you see,” he said, smiling mysteriously. “I’m actually here because the current Main Branch Sennin is indisposed due to some self-inflicted legal mishaps. So Hayata-sama has given representatives from other branches authority to act in Fujinami’s stead for the time being. I was in the CID before I was ANBU, so my boss assigned me to oversee its affairs for now,” he said. “May we come in?”

Kitsune assented, turning toward the stairs but not refusing them entry.

”He’s up here. Hikari should be in there with him," she said matter-of-factly.

“Ah, see, Gino? I think we’ll get lucky and he’ll certainly be ‘up’ by the time we enter the room. Nothing like a pretty girlfriend laying her head on your lap to stimulate the healing process,” said Masao to his humorless companion, who only grunted in response. “Ah, Kitsune. One thing bugging me – we attended the academy together. Why am I on the wrong side of forty but you don’t look a day over twenty?”

Soon after, both men entered the room. The boy was laid out on the bed, certainly looking worse for wear than one might expect. Before Masao could suspect medical malpractice, however, he happened to glance at the boy’s eyes.

“To quote Hayata Shin, ‘Interesting.’”

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

Kitsune was about halfway up the stairs when she heard Hikari yell out ”Kitsune, something’s happening!”. She hastened her steps, and entered the room, her coat flapping behind her from her rapid steps. She immediately started looking at Keiji, placing both her hands on his temples and then feeling the veins around his eyes. She had seen that kind of veins before. Either Keiji had suffered some terrible derivative of Raiden’s Eye Fever, or he was developing a bloodline. She hoped for the former because that was treatable. For a brief moment, Kitsune removed her hands, formed a few handseals to perform Mystical Force, and then she re-applied them to the boy’s swollen veins, and temples.

”Well... You’re absolutely right. I do have to do what’s right for the kid.” she said in response to what he had said down by the door. ”And really? Married? For some reason, I have a feeling that the only woman in this entire town that could keep you in place is in the same branch as you. Hell, probably your boss. Am I right?” she asked him, as she let the jutsu do its work on Keiji. ”About the age thing. Yeah. Well… Let’s just say it’s a medical secret. Shall we?” she said and winked at the ANBU. ”It’s what happens when you’re mixing medicines and various other elements, to find a solution to a problem. Still haven’t found my solution, but it appears that my body’s aging process has been slowed by about 25 years.”

She looked down at Keiji, a smirk forming on her lips as she saw that he was stabilizing once more, and it even looked like his body was calming down. Though that likely meant that it wasn’t the fever he was suffering from. That usually took longer to beat down than this. In other words, Keijis body had started the process to unlock the potential hidden in his genes. It struck Kitsune as a bit odd, because as far as she remembered from logfiles and lists, there hadn’t been any Hyuuga for a few generations in the town.

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

Keiji awakened with a flash, his upper body lifts up, pushing Kitsune back. His eyes fully opened like he had seen a ghost, which his now fully white enveloped eyes appeared like, small blurs of where his white pupils was before was apparent if one looked close enough, the veins around his eyes were pulsating, as if they blood or some form heavy liquid continually moved around his eyes, Keiji’s teeth grinded together quickly as he felt a pain shrieking through his chest, like the flash of a lightning his chest hurt and as fast as it came, it vanished again. Keiji looked around the room, he only saw dark blue silhouettes, light blue lines were apparent in the 4 silhouettes he could see in the room. Upon further examination of the forms he recognized them. Hikari.. Those curls were easy to distinguish. He looked up. Kitsune standing slightly above Hikari in height, it was relatively easy to distinguish her from the rest. He scanned further across the room, analyzing the two other silhouettes standing in the doorway. He didn’t recognize any of them, one’s light blue lines resembled Kitsune, he was definitely strong, but he couldn’t even be compared to the other figure standing next to him, the light blue veins that ran through his body was thick, and there hundreds if not millions running through his system, his power seemed immense, Keiji almost frightened for his life seeing this great and powerful individual standing near him, overlooking Keiji in such a sorrowful and confused state.

Keiji turned his body to the side of the bed giving a slight pain in his legs. He felt like he had slept for months. Like his mind had been in a continuing turmoil. And only now was there comfort in his mind. After 12 years, like finally, his mind was no longer cluttered. Like he was finally.. Released. He looked up with the white blank eyes looking closely on everyone in the room.

His eyes suddenly hurt, closing his eyes he covered his face with his palms and faced downwards. ”my.. Eyes!” The veins around his eyes were fading away, squirming their way deeper beneath the skin. His hands tightened around his face, nails cutting into his skin, drops of blood dripped from his hands as Keiji spoke again ”It.. Hurts!” he screamed out. A minute passed, he ignored whatever anyone would have said to him, he began removing his hands from his face suddenly, as the pain was subsiding, vanishing. His eyes had returned to normal. He looked up from his bloodied hands and sure enough, the veins around his eyes had subsided and were no longer protruding from the skin. Eyes still blank white, but at least now he looked around normally and he realized that the presumptions on the people around him were correct. He was sitting with Kitsune, Hikari, and two strange individuals, both with long coats. His eyes were bleeding, tears of blood escaped the side of his eyes. The blood dripped on his already messy white, wet, burned, trashed, and muddied training clothes. A slight smile appeared on his lips. He then pulled together what little strength he had left went to this one smile and the next words he spoke. “What are you all staring at me for?..” His body felt weak and suddenly he fell to the side lying with his head on the pillow, eyes still open, he wasn’t experiencing any pain, he was just lying there, smiling.

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

Hikari stepped back, as Kitsune rushed into the room, and went to attend to Keiji. She didn't know what was going on, but Kitsune was joking with the people who followed her in. They seemed to know each other. She looked at the pair suspiciously. One looked grumpy, and the other, a guy who seemed to be in charge of something or other, seemed much more at ease than she felt was decent at a time when a boy's eyes seemed to want to implode.

Hikari pursed her lips, "Interesting? What a jerk." She muttered to herself. It seemed very rude to say such a thing.

Just then, Keiji got up and pushed Kitsune back. Hikari jolted to her feet, "Dude, lay down, your eyes!" She said startled, the alarm turned out to be warranted, as something seemed to happen with his eyes, then. Hikari closed her eyes and looked away. She didn't know what was happening, only that it seemed to be seriously messed up. The veins around Keiji's eyes, the pupil disappearing. Then there was the blood. "What's happening? Kitsune? Keiji stop you're gonna hurt yourself!"

Hikari looked to her elders for answers as he screamed, though she didn't expect anything good. After a little while, she sat back down as he quieted. He pulled his hands away from his face, covered in blood, and looked around with blank white eyes. She remembered reading about a clan which had such a characteristic, but her information had been limited as her understanding at the time. "Damn it, Keiji, what the hell happened?" She snapped after he asked why they were staring at him. Then after she asked her question, he fell over onto the bed smiling. Surprising to say the least.

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

The boy on the bed looked absolutely horrific to the untrained eye, particularly the face. Pupils erased into a whitish blur, facial veins engorged and plethoric, and of course bleeding like stink where he had sustained cuts earlier. But to Masao, who thirty years ago had a Hyuuga as his best friend and brother in arms, this was a sight that brought back bittersweet memories. Come to think of it, though, usually the actual emergence of a youth’s genomic characteristics was a closely-guarded secret to the clan, and something never witnessed by an outsider. Times had sure changed.

He smirked as the frizzy redhead gave him a pouty expression of disdain. The younger generation was ignorant and quick to anger; the girl had probably never seen a kekai genkai up close before, and probably thought her boyfriend was having some sort of brain aneurysm. Thankfully, Kitsune was on the job and ministered to his inflammation, hopefully allaying some of her concerns. Apparently most bloodline emergences tended to hurt with the fury of a thousand angry Shinbatsu fanatics, so of course the boy probably felt like he was dying.

“It’s quite alright, Ging...er, I mean, young lady. You’ve probably never seen a descendant of the old Hyuuga clan up close and personal. They were all wiped out over twenty years ago in the Invasion. But it looks like your boyfriend has somehow inherited the trait. I think Dr. Shinrya will agree with me that he’s in no real danger, however. My best friend many years ago also inherited the same genes, and when his power manifested, frankly it made me want to vomit when I looked at it,” he said, attempting in his own way to be comforting to the redhead. But really, the focus of this thread was on Keiji, who he addressed next.

“Our apologies for staring, son,” said Masao, bowing slightly to the bedraggled boy. “You’re Suzaku Keiji, right? My name is Takaki Masao, Gensui Rikugun Taishou of the ANBU. This is Senior Inspector Ginoza of the Main Branch Criminal Investigation Division. We’re both investigating the…crime that just happened at your house and were hoping to ask you some questions. Just so you know, we did manage to apprehend many of the individuals who set the fire, and I can assure you that they will all receive a fair trial before their hangings. More importantly, how are you doing right now?”

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

Kitsune grinned at Hikari’s reaction to what Masao had said, she was clearly miffed about it, but Masao wasn’t wrong, it -was- interesting. It wasn’t often you got to see the emergence of a bloodline trait in someone. ”Hikari, it’s fine, Keiji’s fine. Or he will be at least.” she said in an attempt to calm down the little redhead. She did raise an eyebrow over all the blood that was flowing down from Keiji’s eyes.
”Oh dammit. Now I have to clean those sheets too.” she complained and sighed. ”Oh well. Nothing to do about it.”

She took a piece of cloth and wiped Keiji’s face clean from the blood, and then looked at Masao ”You’re quite right Masao, Keiji is perfectly healthy and now that his bloodline has manifested itself properly, he’ll probably see things quite a bit clearer than before.” she said and smirked, remembering when she had unlocked the use of her Sharingan, how everything suddenly stood in complete sharp clarity, how everyone had moved in slowmotion so she could see exactly where they’d move to. It was an amazing feeling to experience.

”Now then. Keiji, you’ll probably need to rest up, the manifestation of a bloodline is rather taxing, as you’ve no doubt found out. Mr. Inspector and Masao, he’s cleared to answer your questions, but do not strain him, or I will be forced to exercise my right to defend my home and throw both of you out the window after throwing the both of you into a 72 hour personal hell.” she said sternly. While she knew that Masao could probably resist her genjutsu, she didn’t know whether or not the inspector would be affected. In any case, she would still throw them out the window if they didn’t behave properly.

She then turned to Hikari. ”Stay as long as you want Hikari-chan. I could use your help to make sure Keiji stays relaxed and resting. After all, I can’t just drop all my work to stay at home and be nurse to him.” she said and smiled before finally looking at Keiji ”The same goes for you Keiji. Stay as long as you want.”

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

Keiji laid there with a slight smile on his face. First Hikari bursted out with remarks asking what happened. The tall man standing by the doorway seemed to have taken interest and answered back at her. His eyes went over to the man His words carved a deep wound in his brain, just alone by the words 'Hyuuga clan' 'power manifested' Keiji had heard of this before, and even read about the clan in books, but why even mention them? Keiji's thoughts went rapid. What happened to me? Why do I feel like this? Why did my eyes hurt? What is going on with me? Then Kitsune spoke. Her words was an even deeper cut into the wounds of his mind, a startling revelation. Bloodline manifestation?! Keiji felt a shaking stir inside of his body, his arms, legs and head began trembling. "W-what.. A-are yo-you all.. T-talking about?" He took a deep breath and slowly the realization dawned upon him. I-i am a-a Hyuuga?! He feared what this meant, why didn't he know before? For all that he's read about them they are born with the blank white eyes which was why he dismissed that ever having been a possibility of him being one. He turned his body, facing the ceiling. The tall man by the doorway spoke, apologizing for staring, Keiji sighed with a grin as a reply to it. He asked if his name was Keiji, he nodded, he spoke of his rank, who he was, and why he was there with his companion. He explained that they had apprehended the arsonists, Keiji grinned "I doubt you got them all.." He said with a dismissive sigh. He turned his body again facing the wall, away from everyone in the room. "I'm okay.. I suppose.." He silenced himself. He curled himself into fetal position and held himself tightly with his arms. Kitsune said he should stay relaxed and resting, she said he could stay there for as long as he wanted. He merely nodded in reply, he didn't feel like doing anything, he felt like he had a lot to ponder, and to think about, he wanted to just leave everything, escape everyone, and leave it all behind. Yet he laid and stayed there he was too tired to do anything. "I need.. To be alone." he said silently, almost whispering it.

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

Despite Kitsune's assurances, Hikari could see that everything was not alright. She wasn't convinced that the physical manifestation of the bloodline was the only thing wrong. What had caused it? The razing of his family home. Nobody came away from something like that 'alright'. Hikari rolled her eyes at Masao's ginger comment, "Keiji's a decendent of this clan? Obviously I have, then." She muttered folding her arms. "And I don't have a boyfriend. Keiji and I are friends and classmates." She said When Masao offered the bit about his best friend having went through something similar, and it making him want to puke, Hikari smirked, "Oh really? Weak stomach?" She quipped, unable to resist. The alternative, that the manifestation of the Hyuuga clan's power was that grotesque, was hard to believe. She'd read bits about the clan over the years, nothing indicating that.

Hikari stepped back as Masao talked to Keiji. Kitsune gave them permission and forbade them from bothering the boy too much. Hikari was surprised she let them stay at all. She smirked though, when he said they'd all be given fair trials before their hangings. "Deserve worse than that." Hikari muttered. She was gratified that it sounded like the decision to hang them had already been made.

Kitsune then made her request for assistance after telling Hikari she could stay as long as she wanted. She smiled, "Thank you, Kitsune-san, but I know enough about medicine to know I know nothing- or next to it. I wouldn't be much help."

Keiji's reaction to the realization was shock. He withdrew and told the room he wished to be alone. "Sure." Hikari said, she hesitated, "Nothing's changed, Keiji. I've got your back if you need it." She said with a nod as she went into the hall.

[Sorry for the wait guys, school just started up again, and I picked up a second job.]

Re: The Nightmare beckons [Private - PM if want to join]

He could not help but be impressed at the sheer gall the redhead seemed to possess. Were all gingers like this? It was one thing for a testosterone-crazy fight-obsessed hothead Captain like Jaeda Shino to talk back to the Vice Commander of the ANBU, but it was another thing entirely for an academy graduate less than a month out to be so...snappy. He chuckled, hoping that she hadn't seen the momentary protrusion of his wristblade for a brief second when she had made that quip about having a weak stomach. If this girl could make him want to stab her, she truly was an evil genius in the making, not to mention a valuable source of future anguish for the Main Branch Sennin.

"Ah, I apologize for presuming things about your relationship with the young Hyuuga," he said, smiling insincerely. "...I underestimated his taste in girls."

"Yes, that's right, young man. You are a Hyuuga, as far as I can tell. The first to appear in the village since Akira Saito, who was the last of his clan. And I do agree, I don't think we've gotten them all. I sense there's something more at work here than simply an angry mob," he said.

"And that is precisely why we have questions for you, Suzaku Keiji. Now, to start with, I'll need a comprehensive account of your activities today..." began Ginoza, impatient and fed up with the spectacle.

"Patience, my friend," said Masao, holding his hand up. "Young Suzaku here wishes to be alone. You'd be better served by letting him cool off a bit - otherwise his information will be suboptimal. We should head out. Kitsune, thank you for allowing us in," he said to the mednin. To Ginoza scowled, but did not object.

"Meet the Inspector later on at the Justice Complex to complete your interview. Obviously, don't leave town yet," said Masao to Keiji, turning to leave. Before he exited, however, he turned to face Keiji once more, squatting so that he was at the boy's eye level. "Why do we fall? So we can pick ourselves back up. It's easy to get lost in revenge, but doing so only leaves you hollow. Like my Hyuuga friend. I would hate to see his story repeated for you."

He stood up, and left with Ginoza. [TL]

Kitsune simply gathered her papers, and got up from her chair. "If you're staying, Hikari, you might as well give me a hand with the dinner. I hope Keiji enjoys sushi. Because that's what I had planned for myself, but I always make too much." she said and walked out of the room, and down the stairs, heading to the kitchen.

Hikari shrugged as Kitsune asked her for help with dinner. "It's been a while since I had to cook for myself, Kitsune-san, but I'll give it a shot." She shrugged and tagged along downstairs, leaving the boy alone in his reverie. "Sushi, eh? Ya know what, Kitsune-san, I have no idea what to do with Sushi. I'll probably be getting in the way a lot." She grinned unrepentantly, "Sounds like a party ehy?"
