Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The letter was brief. It simply stated to meet at the outlands for a scouting class. While fundamentals would have been covered during their genin days, the more intricate and meticulous teachings would come later. Besides, it has always been known that life was an unending learning venture, made more particular for shinobis. With life always at risk, and the safety of a village or more under your responsibility, it would be foolish to think one has learned everything there was to know about the world. But today wasn't about philosophy. The said chuunin was beyond that now. It was one of those timely reviews of the basics - scouting.

To the vast plains of the outlands, the said chuunin was tasked to locate any remnants from a incident the week before. The only hint to what that incident was: a burnt parasol that was taken in by a villager from the nearby town. It would have been left ignored except for the fact that the parasol had an identifying mark on its handle - the crest of Kumogakure. As such, it was important to get more information on what took place and who were involved.

Judging from the time the chuunin was given the letter of instruction, it would be mid-afternoon by the time she would arrive along the area. Tall grasses stretched as far as the eye could see with silhouettes of mountains to one side and outlines of a town to another. The orange skies made the area look scenic, but there were a few scorches on some of the grass tips. Strangely, if it was truly fire, it would have at least left a good patch of burnt ground. Not even a week could have brought the grasses to that height to hide any evidence.

(From this point, make a dice roll: t!dice 1d3)
1- while exploring, out of nowhere, a leopard suddenly attacks and gives chase. It is clearly angry and of the mind to feast upon you.
2- you hear the sound of a trading merchant's cart nearby suddenly stop. Some profanities are thrown and part of the cart falls to one side, cluttering some of the wares.
3- galloping hooves catch your attention and you soon find a band of brothers running from the direction of the town. They seem to be in a hurry that you might have to move fast to avoid being hit. (Roll for stumble chance: 70% success -> t!dice 1d100) if it succeeds, one of the brothers try to stop the horse from hitting you head-on and ends up stumbling and falling off to crash at you)

“A letter?”

With the official seal of Kumogakure binding the document, Suika unraveled the letter and instantly scanned through it. A Chuunin-leveled class? When it came to teaching, the kunoichi wasn’t typically on the receiving end anymore. She’s been instructing a lot herself, so it was a bit of a shock to her that she was assigned a lesson. She grinned. Clenching the parchment firmly, the girl prepared herself for the scouting exercise that she was assigned. Scouting… this would be a piece of cake, right? Suika was wary; she knew better than to underestimate a task assigned to Chuunin-level participants. She prepared herself for anything. With her Chuunin jacket on and her headband tied loosely around her neck, the girl was off.

Before her mini mission, she was handed a burned parasol with Kumogakure’s symbol on it. A fire, perhaps? The village was unsure, so it was up to her to investigate. Making her way to the outer lands of her village, the kunoichi scouted the area, with the aid of her extra-sensory perception, and searched for any clues that would help lead into an explanation of what had occurred. As she scanned the area, she was quick to notice smoky tips on some patches of tall grass. Tilting her head curiously, she neared the plant life to get a closer look. “This doesn’t look like it came from a natural fire…” As she leaned forward, her senses warned her to check her left. Suika suddenly sidestepped and dodged an incoming clawed assault from a leopard. With initiative, the girl summoned her ethereal sword and parried the large cat’s second strike.

What in the world?

Channeling her grand illusory ability, she channeled a genjutsu that would reveal the leopard’s worst fear. Hopefully that would be enough for the beast to skedaddle. If the coast was clear, Suika would resume her scouting activity. She’d also keep wary whether that leopard attack was purposeful or not. If for some reason the cat persisted, she’d fend it off with a physical onslaught. Her eye was on the prize – find more clues as to why that parasol was scorched!

The shock was unbearable. The leopard was hit dead-on by Suika's power and immediately limped and clawed the ground. It wailed as it did so before it came to a sudden halt and started rolling on the ground with a cry. Strangely enough, the cry was like a whimper until it became more clear by the second and the leopard's body began to change into that of a young boy the age of Suika. He continued to roll and cry, and then shouting, "No! Get away! Don't come near me! NO!"

As the boy would continue to roll and writhe on the ground, he soon turned his eyes and saw Suika. However, the Chuunin would also notice that the was some kind of disruption in the chakra pulse that she placed on the boy. Anger filled the boy's eyes as he glared at Suika, even if tears ran down his face. It wasn't those typical answer either but a cold blood-thirsty need for hatred that was consuming him and quickly letting out.

"I'll make you pay!" Growled the boy as he then pushed himself from the ground and launched at Suika. Mid-air, he transformed once more into a leopard, larger this time as he would make for a flurry of swipes at the girl.

(Roll t!dice 3d20: for every below 14, your sword clashes with the claws. 15-18, you suffer claw scratches seemingly from the claws having an extended chakra blade. 20, you are overpowered and pinned to the ground.

If pinned to the ground, roll t!dice 1d20: if you hit 17-20: you manage to use your sword to defend yourself as the leopard was about to bite you and thus now biting the sword's edge, incurring blood from its jaws but not he doesn't pull away. 12-16: you parry but the leopard pulls the sword from your hand and throws it away. 1-11: the leopard was too fast and bites you on the shoulder.)

As Suika clashed with the leopard, to her surprise, it reverted into the form of a small, human boy. The kid was around her age, but was clearly in pain and infuriated. As the girl’s calm eyes honed in on the boy, she sensed a disruption in his chakra flow. His chakra pulsed chaotically. Instinctively, the kunoichi knew that the shapeshifting child was under the influence of someone else’s illusory spell. As she attempted to near the boy to release him from his illusion, the boy, enraged, pounced into the air and toward Suika. Clenching her spiritually-fueled sword, the girl attempted to deflect the leopard boy’s attack.

The kid’s first strike came at a shock, so the boy’s claws, coated by some type of chakra extension, slashing the girl across her chest. She winced. His second attack hit mirrored the same. Part of the kunoichi held back knowing that the boy was an innocent bystander, but she soon snapped out of it. If she didn’t act now, she would be in trouble and no real help to the mind-controlled youth. As the leopard aimed for a third strike in its assault, Suika deflected with gritted determination. Parrying its claw, the girl attempted to smack the cat with the blunt side of her weapon as she channeled a genjutsu bind. If successful, or if not, her main objective was to near the boy and free the disruption in his chakra. In doing so, she hoped he’d snap from any genjutsu he was under and, after, explain what the heck was happening.

Was this all construed by a higher-up of sorts? To ensure she wasn’t under any spell, the girl attempted to cancel out any illusion she might be under. She was sure that this was reality, but she questioned why it was. Not that she had time to dwell on the fact. The first thing she had to do was free the boy from his burden and, after doing so, continuing her investigation.

“Who are you? Who did this to you?” she would utter if she managed to free the boy from his curse.
