Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Quick Character Description:
Nataku is, in a word, terrifying. A slender build that wouldn't really reveal the immense strength hiding within. Often people can just get an eerie feeling from his presence alone. He has jet black hair that goes down to his shoulders. Often his facial features are hidden by hair. His eyes are brown, but can shift to red when he is angry or his demonic blood is active, and can turn into the Rinnegan in certain situations as well. He has two fangs hidden in the back corners of his mouth, often missed unless he is smiling (which is rare). His clothing is usually traditional of his surroundings, and he tries not to stand out too much from the crowd. His skin is pale white, when he's not transformed into a demon.

Quick Mental Description:
Nataku is depressed. So depressed that he let his split personality, Senkaku, run his life for years. Now he returns to find himself among ruins. He is struggling with identity issues and memory loss, and feels as though he has far more power than he can ever control. In conversations with others, he is often distant and his responses usually taken a dark turn. His outlook on life is not a positive one, yet despite all his failure he can still seem to come off as egotistical. Perhaps this is due to his immense strength and the way he hides it, allowing people to perceive him as a much weaker shinobi. In a counter-measure to the condescending words of others, he is stubborn and full of himself. Senkaku is the opposite, loving to go out and have a good time. He also loves fighting and blood, embracing everything the world has to offer with a very selfish viewpoint. If it benefits him, you can bet Senkaku will do it.

Character History:</SIZE>
  • Early Life: Nataku was always the kind-hearted child and wanted to help people as much as he could. His younger brother, Miroku, was just the opposite. Somehow they got along. Born to a noble family, Nataku wanted for very little and discovered at a young age that he was a different from almost everyone else. His mother was a skilled doctor and former Med-nin of Sunagakure, and she was the first to notice. Proud of how intelligent her son was she decided to send him to the Toraono Dojo where he could learn to defend himself and study medicine like she did as a shinobi in Sunagakure. Nataku had always felt out of place and frequently felt his mind expand beyond his body. He was still new to life, not capable of understanding the gravity of what it meant to be what he was. He had no idea what he was capable of, nor did he understand how different he truly was from a normal human. During his stay at the Toraono dojo his actions during sparring sessions attracted the attention of the Grandmaster of the Dojo. Toraono Kaibudo began his initial strength training noticing that Nataku was a lot like his youngest son Kuro. Every so often, Kaibudo would send Nataku on training missions in the desert with various teachers to promote a balance between his medical studies and his martial arts which came to rely on swordsmanship. During one training session Nataku stumbled across a hidden oasis that somehow called to him. The animals in this oasis seemed to resonate with him and it was there he met a true Youkai. He would return to this oasis on his own and would train there for extended periods of time. He learned to farm the land to stay fed, he learned to hunt the stronger beasts that would have thought he was prey, using their folly for meat. Nataku quickly became a strong and well-rounded medic/swordsman, and once his mother deemed him strong enough to handle his own life, things started changing. He was sent to live with his father in Soon and it was there he would undertake secret training sessions.
  • Training Years: His father always taught him that his greatest asset was that nobody knew of his true strength. To everyone else, he was a successful doctor trained by medics from Sunagakure. Secretly he was the heir to his father’s vast fortune and empowered by the blood of his demonic ancestors. His role in the shinobi world was largely a backseat role; he would occasionally heal the shinobi who requested his assistance for pay and those from Suna for free. Thus, all his father’s enemies would underestimate him, and he would have a natural advantage. He swore to do good, and not fit the stereotype of being demon blooded, and as such he hid his demonic powers and carefully practiced medicine in the open and even more carefully in the shadows. He was doing incredibly well, but one day something bad happened. He developed a relationship with a team of shinobi that had lost their medic to a sandwyrm. Every now and them, he would help them out.
  • Failure: During one of his trips to assist a Nomad Clan near the Mountain region, he had the opportunity to assist this team of shinobi. These were ninja he had gotten to know on a regular basis from their frequent outings and as such they knew he was a great medic and capable swordsman. If anything, they were his friends. It was supposed to be a simple gathering and distribution of supplies mission, but it turned into a struggle that Nataku swore he would never forget. At least at the time he thought that way. The trauma of the massive battle with strange warriors of elemental power damaged not only his body but his psyche as these warriors wiped out his team and much of the nomadic tribe he had come to help. Flashes of the battle echoed through his mind where he had been confronted by a strange lightning wielding warrior whom had all but killed him. Nataku survived the attack through muscle memory alone. The women of the tribe whom found him told him that he had been struck by lightning over and over but refused to fall and kept lashing out with his sword giving them the chance to flee and hide. He took little solace in that since over 60% of their 210 person tribe had been slaughtered along with his friends because he had not been strong enough in his mind. Over the years, the details of the attack seemed to fade away from him. All he remembered was that at the end, he was the only squad member remaining. The memory would latch onto his mind like a long lost lover at the oddest times. Each time the memory resurfaced Nataku believed that it was his fault and failure to perform as a Med-Nin that led to the tragedy.
  • The Dark Side: His father would later tell him that it was his lack of awareness that led to their defeat, and that if he had mastered his darkside then he would have been more than capable. The despair shattered his mind causing Nataku to develop a split personality disorder. This alter ego, Senkaku, was straightforward and very indulgent in pleasure and vengeance. Senkaku was outgoing, as Nataku hid deeper within his own mind to escape his sadness over his perceived failure. He encountered a woman of which he grew to care for, and began a friendship with her. Her nickname was “Kuma (Bear)” and that was how he referred to her. They were acquaintances from the academy, but once her squad died as well they became closer as Senkaku was there to comfort her. All he knew is that of all the people in the world, Bear was the most genuine he had ever met.
  • The Awakening: While working on treatments for some children with Sandwyrm fever, Nataku learned something new about himself. He ran into Kuro briefly and noted that he had a demonic power within his eyes. This triggered a flood of memories, and he flashed back the remembering that he too possessed eyes like Kuro. When he was a child he had been able to turn the Rinnegan on and off and then as he hid his abilities like his father had taught him. How had he forgotten something so primal to himself. Nataku talked with Kuro for a while and actually received a full explanation on how Kuro called upon his expanded existence. Taking it to heart he began to study himself once more and push the boundaries within his mind to find what he had lost within himself. He found himself searching for more forms of weapons training to push himself.
  • Sensei: He found a master near the edge of Wind Country near a gambling hall of great renown. He claimed he could teach Nataku the way of Heaven’s Sword. He was lying to Nataku, convincing him that he was part of a larger organization with a code and set of values, only to learn later that he was just advancing personal agenda. He did, however, have the foresight to know that Nataku could be an incredibly dangerous swordsman who needed a set of values to control his potential. As part of the deal, Nataku would take over the body of a man he killed, and use that to constantly train with his new sensei. After explaining this to Kuma, they came to the conclusion that this swordsman was the man that had killed Bear’s squad on their resupply mission. The seals he used were like those of the elemental warriors he had fought to a standstill long ago. Nataku still had unexplained memory loss, never knowing it was an alternate personality that caused it. Senkaku had long ago learned to inscribe a seal upon himself that would separate his consciousness into different bodies, dividing his soul among them. Nataku was literally living years of his life as two different people without even knowing. Until mastering the seal himself he had never known he had a split personality disorder. Upon regaining this control and willpower, he understood himself. He was not a single entity anymore, but a consciousness that drifted among vessels.
  • Fleeting: Fate struck again, as Senkaku's path had been on an important mission for his sensei. Nataku was at work experimenting with seals and managed to unlock the one Senkaku had created. This caused an unintended consequence: Senkaku's path suddenly stopped existing. It just dropped, a lifeless corpse. This, in turn, interrupted the important mission. As a result of this, his mentor did was not able to be warned of the attack and perished at the hand of enemy shinobi. As Senkaku saw it, this was the same guy that had killed Bear's squad and so he didn't feel bad. Senkaku might have killed him himself. Nataku however blames himself for yet more death, as he was unable to help someone in their most crucial moment. He likely won't talk about it, but nobody besides Senkaku even knows that it happened. Nataku swore he would uphold the code that his mentor falsely imprinted upon him.
  • The Second Loss: Nataku returned to Sunagakure now and then as he had begun a romantic relationship with his friend Bear. All this time, he had managed to keep the extreme strength he possessed a secret from even his closest friends and his mother. He was mostly quiet with his mother, rarely getting involved in politics and regular civilian behavior. He came off as socially reserved. With Kuma, he was outgoing and bubbly. Even she didn’t know, but she found out one day. Nataku found out Kuma was being sent on a secret mission that was supposed to be extremely dangerous. Naturally, she didn’t tell Nataku about it, but he had his ways. He followed her, keeping an eye on her from time to time making sure she remained safe. His watchful eye wasn’t enough, as a three man team of shinobi surrounded her. He could barely even flinch before he was forced to watch her get impaled from behind with a sword, two more blades flashed each striking vital points her heart, spine, and lungs were all pierced in milliseconds. That was it, no witnesses on the street except Nataku at a distance, just as Bear’s body began slumping to the ground. One of the masked shinobi turned and looked at Nataku and said, “If you continue down this path Doctor, this will be your fate.” Nataku was desolate as dark rage filled his entire being. Discovered he leaped out from his hiding spot and attacked. He was much stronger than these masked shinobi could have ever anticipated. Nataku did something he had never done before, he transformed into his full demon form and ripped them apart, spreading their remains across the sand. Then he went to ‘Bear’ and tried to use his Medical Jutsu to save her. It was a too late, and he knew it as he smelled the sour –sweet stink of carmot laced poison, it wasn’t just destroying her blood cells it was eating her chakra so she couldn’t resist it. Her last words to him were, “You’re pretty scary…” as a weak smile appeared on her face. Then she died, there in the sand cradled in his demonic arms. This is the last memory Nataku has. The last time he felt emotion. The last time he felt anything.
  • Present Day: Nataku awakens in Sunagakure, considering himself a failure in all respects. He could not protect the ones he loved. In depression, Nataku allowed Senkaku to take over his mind and goes absent-minded for years. Then the Cabal attacked. One day he woke up buried in rubble just beneath the remains of the Kazekage’s tower. Nataku returns to his natural senses at the age of 24, and only the memories of his training remain. What happened to the last few years? Nataku feels that he is the worst kind of failure. The details of his life as Senkaku are still hidden from Nataku but for how long? He was confined to a single body again. There was little else to do than to start rebuilding.

Abilities
0. Shinobi 101 - Ranged Taijutsu -> Ninjutsu Accuracy
Choose one jutsu sub-type (Fire, Slashing, Offensive puppet, etc) to use with any one other accuracy of your choice. User may apply to change which sub-type of jutsu Shinobi 101 applies to once every 90 days via the normal process for an ability swap in their Dojo Forum.

Note(s):
- Shinobi 101 does not take up an ability slot.
- If the user select's a Base Element for Shinobi 101 then this ability's effects apply only to that Base Element and none of it's Advanced Elements.
- Shinobi 101 also applies to any checks made by jutsu of that type (I.E. a Ninjutsu bind cast with Genjutsu DC would check against the user's Genjutsu DC to maintain rather than the user's Ninjutsu Accuracy) but does not change the Evasion secondary which the attack checks against.
0. Journeyman
- Jutsu cost -5% Chakra.
- Being in a [Mission] does not take up an Rp slot. The user is still limited to normal Mission rules.
1. Willpower
The Cancel Jutsu may now apply to Genjutsu of any level as long as the user is aware of it effecting them. If a user affected by a Genjutsu but unaware of it, and casts Cancel, Cancel now has a 30% chance of taking effect anyway.

Notes:
- Cancel may automatically dispel Genjutsu up to C-Rank, and no longer has a penalty against higher level Genjutsu.
- Cancel no longer requires handseals, and may be used as a free action once per round.
2. Hidden Power
- The user gains +.5 to all Secondary stats each time they lose 20% of their Max Hp, capping at +2 Secondaries.
- At lower than 80% Max Hp, this is +.5, at below 60% Max Hp this is +1, at below 40% Max Hp this is +1.5, at below 20% Max Hp this is +2.

Note:
- Should the user become healed and recover their Hp above a Hp interval, their bonus is reduced to the normal bonus.
3. Combat Instinct
Effect:
- Choose one opponent, the user gains +.5 to all Secondary stats each time their opponent lose 20% of their Max Hp, capping at +2 Secondaries.
- At lower than 80% Max Hp, this is +.5, at below 60% Max Hp this is +1, at below 40% Max Hp this is +1.5, at below 20% Max Hp this is +2.

Note:
- These bonuses are only effective against that chosen opponent.
- May switch opponents for 1 AP.
4. Bloody Mess
- The user's Critical hits will always increase bleeding rank, even if the attack does not normally inflict bleeding. This does not apply to non-offensive techniques aimed at allies that can crit.
- When attacking a target at their maxed Bleeding Rank, the user has a base chance of 10% to deal 1.5% Max Hp damage immediately. This chance may be increased with the user's Bleed bonuses up to a 20% chance, but may only effect a target up to three times per round.
- When either of the above effects trigger, the target will take an additional +.5% Max Hp damage per round from bleeding on top of their current Bleeding damage. This does not stack.
5. Healing Factor
- The user gains 3% Max HP at the end of each round.
- All Medical Jutsu are +10% more effective on the user.

Special Action - Quick Healer: At the end of a round the user may choose to pay CP equal to 5% of the damage done to the player during the round, to regain 5% of the HP lost by the player during the round.
6. Calm Mind
- When Resting, the user may choose one of the following effects for every 1/4 Ap they spend resting after the first;
The user may recover an additional +2% Max Hp/Cp
The user may recover 1 Rank of Bleeding, with their normal chance becoming a chance to recover an additional rank.
The user may recover 1 Called Shot rank, with their normal chance being able to recover an additional rank
The user may retain the ability to dodge, but with a -4 penalty.
The user may maintain any Jutsu Level B or lower Jutsu that do not target anyone other than themselves.

Notes:
- An effect may only be chosen once per round, and cannot be stacked.
- The player gains no bonus if only resting for 1/4 their Ap, 1 bonus if resting for 1/2, 2 bonuses if resting for 3/4, and finally 3 bonuses if resting for a full round.
7. Weapon Mastery - Unarmed
- Upon learning this ability, the user chooses one weapon type to master. Each Weapon Mastery requires it's own ability slot.

Slashing:
Once per round, the user may change their currently equipped weapon between the Bleeding and Suppression effects. Additional swaps cost .5 Ap.
All weapons, regardless if a new weapon is equipped or not, may freely switch between effects once per round for no cost.
Bludgeoning:
Bludgeoning Taijutsu that inflict bleeding/suppression have a 25% chance of inflicting a called shot penalty to a random limb.

Sunagakure
Escaping Death - [Free RP]
Nataku awakens in a pile of rubble beneath the Kazekage tower. He slowly comes to his senses, suffering from memory loss. He uses his demon form to escape from the rubble he is trapped under, but a child nearby witnesses it. He confronts the child (Ningyo Noroi) in a human form, and begins to ask a series of questions. Largely, his questions focus on confirming that this is indeed the Kazekage tower that has been destroyed, and who destroyed it. He also helps heal the wound of the boy, as some nasty scar on his neck begins bleeding. Nataku quickly comes to the conclusion that he must find Kuro. He is strong, but does not have the mind to control his strength. He allowed the village to fall to Cabal attacks, and now must see what he can do to right his wrongs.
A Light Lunch (Akkuma, Open)
Nataku heads to the Toraono Dojo in search of Kuro. He ends up witnessing some unconventional surgery to transplant Onmyouji eyes into Miroku Akkuma. He decides to help with the surgery on instinct, although it appears Akkuma did not want anyone's help. Kuro's sister, Toraono Seika, was to marry Akkuma and demanded the surgery. There was some weird connection between the two of them, and after some arguing Akkuma swore to fight Kuro for the right to marry Seika. He did fight, but Kuro destroyed him. Following this, Kuro admitted defeat, essentially saying he approved of Akkuma even though Akkuma had clearly lost the fight. That didn't matter, at this point Nataku took his opportunity to pull Kuro aside. Before they left, Akkuma promised that he would see Nataku again. [Goes directly into next topic]
The Gift of Spirit
Nataku caught up with Kuro, and explained his situation. He had lost the last 3 years of his life, the memories gone. He woke up in a pile of rubble beneath the Kazekage tower. Kuro scribed a seal on Nataku that allowed them to communicate telepathically at close range, and find each other at long range. It was quite useful really. He said that Nataku should be able to improve upon the seal himself. Kuro talked about Nataku needing to master his Soul Blade, and made him an offer. He gave him a body that could be used as a path. A body that was originally meant for Kuro. It was a Chigokai, and when it was alive it was a murderer and a rapist. But now it looked just like Kuro. With this, Kuro was offering him to join Toraono Clan as well as an offer of training and gear. And since the path looked like Kuro, Nataku would essentially be able to BE Kuro. It was a big offer, and Nataku accepted it after some thought. Turning it into his path, he immediately began training with Kuro inside of a Genjutsu.

Calling All Medics (Free, Open, All MiT or Above Requested)
Nataku receives a letter from someone identifying themselves as Enzeru. He requests the attendance of all medics for a meeting. Nataku arrives to find a man who just joined the medical branch, no, just joined the village. He starts by saying he wants to form a team within the Medical Branch that would receive his ANBU training, since he was a former ANBU Captain of Kirigakure. Kyuji, the branch leader, was also there. After some disagreement and some back and forth, eventually the group came to the conclusion that he would be allowed train people who desired training, but nothing more. No teams, no missions without Kyuji's approval, etc. Nataku says he wishes to receive this training. The meeting comes to a close.
Wishful Thinking [Open/Kouin] -- (ONGOING)
Wandering through the Merchant Lord's Alcazar, Senkaku is in control. He finds himself in a coffee shop and orders a nice steak. He begins to observe his surroundings and finds a person named Kaze Ronin being tricked by a woman in a white hood. She tells him that his brother (who presumably he was to meet that evening) is in danger. Ronin panics, a storm begins outside, and he leaves. Senkaku finds this amusing and carries on with his evening, impatiently waiting for his food. Then Kaze Kouin, the ANBU Sennin from Kumogakure, arrives looking for his brother. He is informed that the reservation was cancelled for a family emergency. He sees Senkaku and begins asking him if he saw anything. Senkaku decides to help, and immediately gets up and explains the situation, while leading him in the proper direction (or at least what he assumed was proper). Kouin realizes who the woman was and knows exactly where to go. He warns Senkaku that it will be dangerous, but Senkaku does not mind. They enter a fight and it is definitely dangerous.
To Settle an Old Score [Req Nataku]
Nataku is doing normal rounds at work when he is informed that a patient is there to see him. This is strange, as nobody usually asked for him by name. When he entered the room, he found himself face to face with Akkuma. Apparently the demon had waited a long time before making good on his promise to see Nataku again. He wondered how dangerously out of control the situation would get, but soon realized that Akkuma was not looking for a fight. He was looking for an ally. He scribed a similar seal binding them together in the same way that Kuro had years before. This seal, though, came with a price. If you betrayed the other person, you would die. Partway through, Senkaku takes control and begins conversing with Akkuma. The demon revealed his plans to be to gain influence across the entire shinobi world and restore the Great Villages to power. Senkaku was skeptical, wondering if Akkuma was really doing all of this for the greater good. Eventually they end the conversation by hatching a plan to raid the morgue for a certain body so Akkuma can use it for his resurrection.
An Ancient Sword [Private]
Nataku notices someone has been following him. He uses a clone to trick that person into believing he left his home. They take the bait, but don't go for the clone. Instead they try to break into his house. He leaves the door unlocked and a young girl steps in. She sees a replica of his family heirloom, a silver katana, sitting on a table in plain sight. She takes it and attempts to run, but he is waiting for her and does not allow her to leave. Nataku is harsh at first, but soon he realizes that this girl is being forced into the situation by a gang. The gang somehow learned about him and his valuable sword. Originally the girl is violent and angry, but when Nataku is friendly, offers her water, and heals her she becomes much nicer. Suddenly she becomes super attached and thanks Nataku, agrees to enroll in the academy, and swears that she will become strong enough to defeat the gang and protect Nataku. The genuine feelings she puts forth make Nataku uneasy, but that is because he hadn't had emotional attachment in a long time. They quickly decide to head off to the academy. Like Sand Through the Hourglass [Class/Open] -- (ONGOING)
Nataku takes Ayame to the academy where he finds Kyuji is about to start a class. Along the way, he also catches some strange interaction between two older shinobi and a young, sketchy-looking girl. He introduces Ayame as Kurosawa Ayame, and asks Kyuji to keep an eye on her. He then "leaves" but in reality he just sits outside of the window to the classroom and listens in, keeping a watchful eye over Ayame. Meanwhile Ayame asks Kyuji to go to the bathroom, unaware that Nataku is watching, and heads out front of the academy to send a letter to a friend. Nataku sees this, but does not do anything. He simply becomes suspicious of her, but decides not to intercept or bring it up for now. The class continues and Nataku remains watchful.
A Home [Private, knock for permission]
In the middle of the night Ayame wakes up screaming. She is having a nightmare. Nataku comforts her and they both share some secrets. He reveals his Rinnegan and she tells more of her story. Some promises are exchanged and Ayame passes out again. Nataku spends the night at her side, watching.
Ghosts from the Past [Private]
Nataku finds Ayame outside of the village in the desert. He intends to have a conversation with her, to just bridge the gap of awkwardness between them. Suddenly explosions are heard in a distance and an unknown shinobi is being chased by others. A fight breaks out, and Nataku ends up getting involved when one of the assailants drops down in front of them and threatens them to stay away. Thus, Nataku fights to protect Ayame. The fight is hard, but the enemies end up running away after acknowledging the strength of Nataku. Nataku looks and sees a man that Ayame recognizes and calls her brothers. Ayame panics and yells at Nataku, calling him by a name: Yasha Sojobo. This triggers a reaction with Nataku that brings out his split personality, Senkaku. Senkaku says some strange things, then heals Izura. Eventually, Izura gets up and hugs Ayame. Senkaku has some weird hallucinations and passes out. [Continued in the next RP]
I am Here! [Private]
Nataku is dreaming, which isn't normal for him. Some strange stuff happens in his dream. When he wakes up, he finds himself inside his home. Ayame is there, crying and shaking on top of him. He realizes the home has been trashed, and he's lying on a mattress in the main room. Ayame seems really stressed. She asks him if he's the only consciousness in his body. Nataku thinks about this, and instinctively answers that it's the reverse, and his consciousness is one spread across several bodies. However, he begins to think and realizes that there is a possibility. He asks Ayame to explain what happened, as he has no memories of what occurred in the desert after the fight. They share a heartfelt speech as Ayame tries to act like the adult. She tells him some of what happened, and mentions a name. Suddenly Nataku has an internal conversation, as he meets the other half. The half that's been running his life whenever he experiences that memory loss. Senkaku. Nataku has a debate with him, and eventually is left alone. He is suddenly unsure if he can care for Ayame. He tries to make her think of him as a bad person, so he tells her about how his ability works. The use of corpses. The little Kaguya girl. Ayame acts strong, but is really worried for Nataku. He leaves to go clear his head as she deals with her own problems.
