Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

[legend="iNPC Oka Miri"] Miri stood at ease at her post atop the great gates of Kumogakure. It had been only a few hours into her shift, and so far nothing aside from travelling merchants passed through the gates. Fortunately, some other unlucky soul had to man the passport station today. Clad in black, Miri stared at the mountainous passage that led away from her home and village. “West side of the gate, clear as always,” said a buzz from her headset. It came from the ANBU channel. “East side of the gate: clear.” This time it was the main branch’s channel. “Noted, doors clear.” Miri responded once to both. For a while now, the duty of the gates fell to both members of the ANBU and Main. Though the extra help from ANBU was greatly appreciated, it came with its own set of headaches.

Because for some damn reason, NO ONE wanted to take the night or weekend shifts. “God damn lazy asses.” Miri muttered to herself before starting her pace down the wall. An expanse of 50 feet was hers to traverse. With the wind, came a sense of solitude. Maybe that’s why Miri took to guard duty when her original goals were denied. To be away from the politics that somehow infiltrated their bufaku government. The wind picked up, bringing a nasty northern chill with it.

If she were any less morally obligated to protect her village, she would have been shit-faced at the top of the wall. Fortunately for Kumogakure, Miri was not.[/legend]

(OOC: hey there :D look up Starrk for his attire... just without the fury coat)

The White dressed Shinobi, now Gate captain, a promotion that shocked everyone he was sure, stood atop the west side of the gates. The rumors were true, the ANBU were doing gate duty now. He watched as the ANBU on duty tapped their headset to let everyone on gate duty know that the west side was clear. Obviously by the age of the kid, he wasn't of jounin rank yet which was unfortunate for him nor of the strength and experience that Kane had in the hell hole of a world. The ANBU would look around to double check his findings only to find a blade to his neck. Kane whispered "Go home." His words were like ice and an aura of chakra seeped from his body like a poison gas coming to an open field of people unknown to the dangers around them. Being especially attuned to chakra; and also having way more than a regular shinobi, he would at times having a hard time keeping it all inside of his body.

The ANBU didn't show any sign of nervousness but tried to defend himself, but before he could, Kane withdrew his blade and stood where he could be seen. The five foot eleven shinobi with his shaggy hair stood there towering over the ANBU. The word must have gotten around to the ANBU somehow though, due to just seeing Kane the ANBU bowed and vanished. Now what's the fun in having a brand new title if no one is surprised by it. How bothersome. I blame Ayumu. He thought to himself. Not that Ayumu had anything to do with this at all, it was just the only ANBU he knew, funny enough he was the sennin of the branch too.

Kane moved along the gates in his complete white attire. His blade now safely back in his sheath on his left. He eventually came up to the doors of the gate of Kumogakure. He saw someone he remembered from the main branch event. She was sitting at the bar in the back of the room. He went over to her and stood next to her looking out. "Pesky ANBU always trying to overstep their boundaries. Don't you think?"

He wouldn't look at her as his eyes were watching the environment in the distance, watching for anyone to come for a visit to this hallowed ground called Kumogakure.

[legend="iNPC Oka Miri"] Look to the left, mountainous pass… Look to the right… mountainous pass... hey, look. Some rocks. Left again… ‘Gate Captain?’

Miri straightened immediately when he spoke to her. “Kane-sama.” Her voice was even as she nodded her head to her commanding officer. She remembered the announcement of his promotion. It had surprised her that she did not know much of this man… and promptly looked to unclassified information about him.

Which resulted in a whole lot of nothing. So either he was either really good at whatever he did to be noticed by the Sennin but not by the rest of Kumogakure, or he had yet to prove his greatness. Miri prayed for the first option. Main branch needed it. She did smile, however, a half smirk that hid the sharp tongue behind it. “There is no shame in asking for help… But then again, my problem is that we needed it in the first place.”

She looked out over the empty expanse once more. She was on duty, even if Kane was here talking to her. Negligence here would be the downfall of her village if she missed a movement if only for a second. “A solid rotation of Main shinobi at the gates would have been a simpler solution that this.” She pointed to the small headpiece in her ear alluding to the two separate channels. ANBU needed to keep certain things secret from main branch, and Miri was high enough in the ranks of Main to have access to both. ‘Lucky me.’

She went silent for a few minutes, if he asked her a question, she would respond in kind. If not, it would be a lengthy moment of silence before she spoke again. “What do you plan to do Kane-sama? We are still too understaffed for normal operations.” Quite frankly, Miri did not beat around the bush. At least… not when it came to her work. “If any threat truly did make its way here, we are not equipped to handle it.” She spoke frankly. In these moments, in his responses and plans, she would judge if he was worthy of leading this division. She didn’t have a say in it, and in all honestly she would follow him regardless. But she would rather not have to do so begrudgingly.[/legend]

[spoilername="OOC"]I don't want to make this a post full of talking. Prepare for something interesting next post! 8D[/spoilername]

Kane continued to look forward. to this point he had still not looked in her direction. Not out of disrespect to her, but because he was doing his duty, watching the gates. He took this task as the utmost highest priority. It would be up to him and the people under him to determine who would be allowed into the village. Shin was making that duty slightly harder allowing almost anyone into the village. A conversation he would have to have with the Raikage whether he liked it or not. It was ultimately Shin's decision, but these were now Kane's gates.

Kane responded to being noticed "Evening Miri-san" His voice was polite and talked as if he was talking to an equal, not a subordinate. He listened to her comments and what she thought and she wasn't far from the truth. The main branch shouldn't have to ask for help for gate duty. The main branch should be the largest branch of the village and such should have more than enough man power to fulfill its duties. He tapped his ear in response to her touching her ear. He had the access she had as well now, perks of the rank he supposed though he figured anyone who did gate duty should have a direct line to all three branches just in case, even medics were useful in some situations.

"As a single unit no one is fit to handle the task of an entire village security. As numerous units working together we can. For now until more optimal options present itself I will continue to accept help from the ANBU. However they won't be acting as they own these gates. The main branches respect will be regained, either through our new Sennin or by my own self. I won't see our people being looked down on because of people going into other branches of our village." Kane wasn't the type to sit back and take things. He would stand up and speak even if it wasn't his place to be and accept the consequences where need be.

"If you have any other questions now would be the optimal time to ask Miri-san." He spoke as he watched the dead night. It was quiet out tonight... a little too quiet for his liking.

[legend="iNPC Oka Miri"] She listened to what he had to say. I was quite obvious that she was silently judging him. Sizing him up to see if he would be a leader like none their generation had seen… or a complete idiot who was at the right place at the right time. So far, Miri’s opinion remained at a steady neutral. His response was logical, but words and actions were two separate entities.

“Like a well-oiled machine,” she mused when he was done speaking. She stayed silent for a second, trying to think of what else she could ask him. “I don’t have any questions, but I would like to offer a suggestion if allowed. She would wait until he gave answer, if he did not allow it, she would just remain silent in the night air. If he did, then she would continue. “The refugees who have been entering into Kumo; most of them seem harmless enough, but not all of them.” She paused, a deep frown appearing on her face. “Reports say that a wandering shinobi entered a while back. She was let in by an ANBU guard without much difficultly and shortly after massacred innocent civilians.” The sheer thought that such an atrocity happened in her village disgusted her. “I hear she was effectively put down, but I suggest there needs to be a tighter control on letting people in, because clearly some of ours kinsmen cannot pick up on ’bat shit crazy.’”

She waited for his response once more. Was he in agreement with her on this, or would he so easily trust strangers as their Raikage did? She didn’t knock the village leader for his philosophical ways, and she begrudgingly respected him for standing by them through thick and thin. But there were some people who were not to be trusted.

It lasted only a millisecond, but there was a shift in the distance. Behind one of the canyon walls, the corner of something soft flickered before disappearing. Miri just caught the movement, her eyes immediately zoning in on the abnormal movement in the wind. “What was that,” she said, crouching and pointing to the spot where she saw the movement. “Did you see what I just saw?” Reflexively, she tightened her gloves. They were fingerless with what looked to be brass knuckles threaded into the leather. Whatever it was, she had a feeling that one of them would be investigating it.[/legend]
