Miri stood at ease at her post atop the great gates of Kumogakure. It had been only a few hours into her shift, and so far nothing aside from travelling merchants passed through the gates. Fortunately, some other unlucky soul had to man the passport station today. Clad in black, Miri stared at the mountainous passage that led away from her home and village. “West side of the gate, clear as always,” said a buzz from her headset. It came from the ANBU channel. “East side of the gate: clear.” This time it was the main branch’s channel. “Noted, doors clear.” Miri responded once to both. For a while now, the duty of the gates fell to both members of the ANBU and Main. Though the extra help from ANBU was greatly appreciated, it came with its own set of headaches.
Because for some damn reason, NO ONE wanted to take the night or weekend shifts. “God damn lazy asses.” Miri muttered to herself before starting her pace down the wall. An expanse of 50 feet was hers to traverse. With the wind, came a sense of solitude. Maybe that’s why Miri took to guard duty when her original goals were denied. To be away from the politics that somehow infiltrated their bufaku government. The wind picked up, bringing a nasty northern chill with it.
If she were any less morally obligated to protect her village, she would have been shit-faced at the top of the wall. Fortunately for Kumogakure, Miri was not.[/legend]
