The Wild Hunt...
Part III
Spring, Year 14
Late Afternoon
Pulling himself over the edge, he made a gasp for some air as his crimson eyes reached out above. Aside from the occasional bird that flew in the distance, perhaps to track him to see If he croak it by chance, all he was welcomed to the white covered sky and of course, the never flakes of the snow that kept coming down. There was also the bone chilling cold that seemingly tried to make him shiver to his core. Laying there on the ground, his body was quick to remember of that. Luckily, his clothing was still holding up, even after he spent who knows how long climbing that steep cliff he was forced to scale. His head fainting to his right, his eyes found their sight locked onto the edge of the cliff he had just pulled himself off. One step in that direction and he could say goodbye to his life. At that, again, for a moment, his mind went racing to the thought that he have to scale it again, only this time downward instead of upward. At that thought, a small sigh escaped him. The thought of tumbling down to his death was far more scary than facing a Youkai of great power. At least with that, he could stare down death on his two feet, not to mention get a hit or two in. Falling to one's death was not a death any warrior wanted, regardless of their status. Resisting the cold, he laid there for another moment and closed his eyes. Once he found himself calm, or as much as anyone could in his situation, he slowly pulled himself off up the ground and took a further more moment or two to brush the snow that decided to stick around. Another groan escaped him when he found snow in places he didn't think was even possible for it to get into, but here he was, now cold in places he hadn't thought possible. This caused a frown to form over his face, ruining his mood, or at least until he turned to face the other direction. In doing so, his eyes found themselves racing in every direction as they took in the scene that stood before him. Ancient ruins here? His head tilted in confusion at this development. Of course, that didn't stop the young fool to slow begin his descent towards them without thinking, clearly drawn to them. It wasn't like anything he had seen before....Well that wasn't entirely true, having seen art depicting ancient shrines from days long past, but they were no where as ancient as something like this. The closer he got to them, he could certainly understand how one may take them as awkward shaped rocks pertaining to the environment they were found in, but upon closer inspection, one can see these massive, skyscraper like rocks were once the foundation for something great. He couldn't say for certain, being no archeologist or a studier of the greater histories of the world, but the ancient runes and scriptures indented into the rock were a dead give away that once upon a time, this land was sacred or important on some level. If that wasn't evidence for ya, they all ran parallel with the cliffside the right, forming some sort of canyon or valley....with a massive cave enterance at the end...."Great." He muttered under his breath. His crimson eyes piercing ahead, his ears suddenly became alive when he suddenly began to pick up the snoring of something truly monstrous nearby, no doubt originating from the cave. With his sixth sense for danger going into overdrive, his hands instinctively rose to meet the handle of his reforged Odachi that sat on his back, to the side of his backpack, anticipating any sort of attack, yet as the moments came and went, It was clear there was nothing but the breeze that was passing him by. It seemed he had the advantage....for now. With the element of surprise on his side, he began to fathom on his next move and what to do next. Clearly going into the cave was a death sentence. There be no hell in way he was going in there. He already had his fill for caves for one life time at It is....
