Another whole year had passed. How long had it been? Two years now since they started this journey. Akane had been training hard the last two years, she had grown in height but she had yet to actually start looking mature. She was starting to look like a woman instead of just a kid. She had grown out of all her old clothes, and her mother supplied her with some new ones.
It wasn't long until Akane found herself in an old looking office where junko had planned to teach her some medical things. This is what she was was waiting for finally a chance to learn how to save better. She watched Junko as he placed the three books on the desk. She just realised it had been like two years since she actually read something, or out of a book. She listened as he read a little bit out of reach book, and nodded. She had a pretty good memory, but she doubt she could remember everything off hand. It would take a long time till she could remember basics off hand. After each little lesson from junko, akane was left alone to study the subject on her own.
First aid
Akane listened closely to Junko's First aid lesson, using the pen and paper to her advantage and listening closely. She wrote down, "First aid, Emergency treatment, injured, Ill, the rest." That would her her first bit of notes, meant for her only to understand. She had never written her notes in full sentences, and none of her notes would have any grammar what so ever. Akane listened to the next bit, Three key points, Keep them alive, do not hurt them any further, or allow them to get hurt any more, and then promote recovery. Which at first sounded like it would be told as a sells pitch, promoting the recovery, but she understood what he meant, that and he explained it after wards. Get them on the road to recovery.
Then they moved on to something new... ABC's of first aid. She spun her pencil, and wrote them down as Junko stated them. Airway, Breathing, and Circulation. As he spoke, she noted that the first step was to make sure nothing was blocking the airway. She listened carefully while writing up her notes. She wrote down how first aiders were going straight to chest compressions, and pulse checks may be done on less serious patients. She nodded to him, as he would not give her notes, but that was fine, she'd would make her own notes. She looked at the book he mentioned and nodded to it. She would dissect this book for its information.
Surprisingly, Akane was quiet, she hardly spoke when she was focusing.. Well it was more like she really couldn't speak while she was into learning. It seemed they moved to CPR, Akane had heard of it, but never had to perform it on anyone. She wrote down Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). in her notes. Then she wrote; "emergency procedure, preserve brain function." Once again not writing out the full sentence. She noted it was to restore blood circulation, and breathing. She nodded to him as she wrote, glancing up here and there. She noted that CPR involves chest compressions at least 5 cm deep and at a rate of at least 100 per minute. Which sounded kinda weird to her, but she was sure she would have plenty of practice in CPR in the future. Creating manual circulation by pushing on the chest to get the blood flowing. She wrote down that the "rescuer may provide breaths by either exhaling into the subject's mouth or nose, or as known as the kiss of life." She wouldn't state her notes out loud, hopefully Junko wouldn't look at what she has wrote down. Most of it sounded like nonsense in her notes, but it was for only to understand after all.
Akane wrote down "CPR alone is unlikely to restart the heart" in her notes, noting the rest of that sentence in her head. "CPR may succeed in inducing a heart rhythm which may be shockable." That statement made her think of her new found blood line, and how she could probably use the electricity her body generates in order to jump start the heart. She wrote down how CPR was meant to delay the start of necrosis, as Junko said. She wrote down "Till return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) or dead", though she wondered how long it would take until they were declared dead. But she would figure that out in her own time. She had no question for him so far, and thus he left.
Akane spent about two months, or so, on the first aid topic, studying it straight from the book, continuously writing down all kinds of notes, though if one would look she had some doodles in her notes as well. She studied techniques for burns, cuts, illness, and pretty much every think the book listed. She wanted to fill her head with the knowledge, she wanted to know the best practices, and she found all her questions were answered by the book.

General Surgery
After a month or two of learning first aid, Junko had moved on to Surgery. She had probably over one hundred notes on first aid by now, but she got a clean note book for this next bit. She wanted to keep organized after all. She wrote down what General Surgery was, "abdominal contents; esophagus, mach, small bowel, colon, liver, gallbladder and bile ducts, and thyroid gland" Then on another line she wrote down "Also skin, breast, soft tissue, and hernias." She seemed to have a lot of practice writing her notes as they were not as messy looking, but she still liked to write them in broken sentences. She wondered how skin surgery worked, but she planned on finding that out from the book after his lesson was done. She remembered her first patient, that guy had a plant growing inside him, and luckily, she was able to remove it safely and patch him up. Blood Didn't
bother her, no, it was more like she liked seeing it. She knew her own blood was the only thing that bothered her, she didn't know what was up with that, but she shook it off.
Junko mentioned it was hard for him, because of the extreme sights of blood, she wondered how she would do during her first surgery. She noted she could sub-specialize into one or more different categories. She noted Transplants, and Trauma, then wondered what she might want to sub specialize into. With that, Junko was done with that lesson, leaving her to study everything else for herself. Akane took the book in her hand and started to read it. The first subject was Acute urinary retention.... She sighed, it seemed odd, and she expected surgery to be of mostly digging into the body. She took her notes though. She noted that AUR only occurred in older males, and rarely in women.... Soon she moved onto the next topic. Allergic reactions to local anesthetics, that was something that would probably benefit her knowledge. She wrote down "They may be administered by topical, infiltrative, nerve block, epidural, or spinal routes." in her notes, then looked back the book. She went back to her notes to write down a few more things. "Two distinct types of allergic reactions", "Allergic contact dermatitis and delayed swelling at the site of administration", and "Urticaria and anaphylaxis".
Akane sighed as she went over a few more subjects, taking at least a day on each one. SOme were shorter than others, making it possible to fit more than one in. She covered; Awareness with recall following general anesthesia Characteristics of antiemetic drugs, General principles of one lung ventilation, Glucocorticoid withdrawal, Infiltration of local anesthetics, Intraoperative fluid management, Major side effects of systemic glucocorticoids, Malignant hyperthermia: Clinical diagnosis and management of acute crisis, Management of acute perioperative pain, Measures to prevent prolonged postoperative ileus, Neuraxial (spinal, epidural) anesthesia in the patient receiving anticoagulant or antiplatelet medication, Overview of anesthesia and anesthetic choices, Overview of complications occurring in the post-anesthesia care unit, Overview of peripheral nerve blocks, and Overview of procedural sedation for gastrointestinal endoscopy within a month. But it seemed she had a lot more to go.
Akane fund herself at the Basic procedures and techniques chapter. Maybe she'll actually learn how to cut into something in this chapter. Well she knew how to cut into something, but it'd be nice to know if there was a right way to do it. She went over topic, after topic in this book. Arterial catheterization techniques for invasive monitoring, Carbon dioxide monitoring (capnography), Closure of minor skin wounds with staples, and Closure of skin wounds with sutures were the first few topics she covered within a week. She found herself becoming more into the Surgery subject, even though most of it seemed boring. But it also did seem more actively involved. She would see once she actually got into someone's body.
Soon enough within two months she was done with the General surgery book. She would have to look to it for later purposes again, because only bits of it she remembered off hand.

Anatomy
Akane ate a few snacks as her next lesson in a new subject began. Anatomy. She had a new clean note book prepared for this next bit, she was ready to learn about the body. She would need to know this if she wanted to perform surgery after all. She got ready to write down her notes, setting aside her snacks to eat at a later time. She picked up her pencil, Junko had already started reading. She wrote down the meaning of anatomy in her choppy sentence style. "Anatomy is the branch of biology concerned, structure of organisms and their parts." Akane listened to Hunko, looking up at him. He had been studying anatomy... Probably with Karin. She nodded to him, he had a note book. She took it as he handed it to her.
"Thank you very much ." She said to him and gave him a smile. She opened up his note book and started reading it.
The first few pages were of the skeletal system. She read one phrase that made her look at the book funny. "Each bone is a complex living organ that is made up of many cells" it made it sound like bones could get up and walk around... Thats just how she read it though. She wrote down in her own notes, as writing down certain things helps her remember when she reread the the Notes. She wrote down "skeleton acts as scaffold, providing support, and protection for soft tissues." She looked back at the note book junko had given her. She then went back to her own notes to write down "New blood cells made by the red bone marrow." Akane flipped the page of the note book to read more. She was now reading about the skull.
Well it also listed neck as well, but akane liked how the skull looked. Freaky, but cool. She started to read what the skull was for.. she already knew it was to hold the brain and other organs though. Too bad there was not a book she could read that had only information she did not already know. She found something note worthy though, "skull consists of 22 cranial and facial bones, which, except of the mandible, are tightly fused together." She copied that sentence down in her notes, nodding to herself. She went on to read the rest of the bones in the skull. Taking notes somewhere on each one. She also took notes on the neck as well, since it was in this section. Akane had to turn a few pages, and soon she was onto the next set of bones. The whole skeletal system took her a week to get though.
She moved onto the nest system, the muscular system. She read the first paragraph explaining the system. The first paragraph really didn't have anything to note down. She found something note worthy in the second paragraph though. She wrote down "700 named muscles", then turned the page. She went over the muscle system, one muscle at a time. She went over the muscles in the head and neck, chest, back, arms, stomach area, legs, and feet. She took a little while on the muscles, about two weeks alone on it. She wanted to take that part a little slow, but also she found herself falling asleep in the middle of reading, and then waking up only to have forgot what she was just reading, so having to have to start that page all over again. That happened at least three times on this section alone.
The cardiovascular system was next up after the muscles. She took her notes and read it all over. She would have to reread this whole thing again at a later point, mostly because she was not going to memorize this at all. She moved on from the 'blood' system onto the next one. She started the the digestive system. She continued on, The endocrine system, The nervous system, The respiratory system, The immune and lymphatic systems, The urinary system, The female reproductive system, The male reproductive system, and The integumentary system. All in that order. It had taken her a few months on all the systems in the body...

All together it had been about seven months of study for akane. During that time, it seemed puberty was taking its course for her, though it was long from over, she looked much more like a woman, a teenage woman more like it. Unfortunately she had a book explain what her body changes were, instead of her mother. It saved Oka from that awkward situation. Her hair seemed a bit longer, her chest bigger, she had more defined curves, and her face over all just seemed more mature. She also seemed a little more insecure about the more noticeable scars she had. She had a large burn scar on her right leg, it covered the side of lower thigh, and knee. She also still had a scar on her right aron from when Yoshi got her with that kunai. She covered her scars to the best she could, she would never admit she was insecure about them.
Akane found herself in a cold examination room. Junko was resting on the table covered in blood, some dripping off the table, and on to the floor. The liquid hitting the ground echoing throughout the room, sounding much like a dripping sink, or a splatter on a tiny scale. It was much like a scene out of a horror story.
"Alright Akane, prove your self. Patch me up."
Akane walked up closer, she was not bothered by the sight of this much blood. She knew Tora was near by to step in if she were to screw this up, but she had no reason to screw up, so she began. She hooked Junko up to an IV, giving him medicine that would slow his bleeding, she'd use the jutsu to, but she couldn't multi task and use that jutsu. She noted the stab wound to the stomach and heart, burn, three large slash wounds. She used her mystical hand jutsu to start the healing process of the wounds she saw, and to use her chakra to sense if there was any foreign objects within his body. Using that mythed, she could tell he had a fractured rib rib, and it didn't take her using her chakra to see that his fingers were broken. She did sense a blade that was about to pierce his stomach. She knew she need to get that out as soon as possible.
After most of his bleeding stopped, she hooked him up to a blood bag, making sure to match the right blood type of course. She stitched up the wounds on his chest quickly to prevent further bleeding. She then took a scalpel, and cut his skin to open the stomach puncture wound further. Meanwhile she was monitoring his breathing, and pulse to make sure he was not dying. After she opened up the wound more, she stuck her hand in, carefully, delicately, and grabbed the blade. She pulled the blade out with cation.
After the blade was safely removed, she stitched up the wound quickly. She applied her Mystical hand to it to heal it a bit. She moved to his head to make sure he did not have any head wounds... She probably should have checked there first, but luckily she didn't see any visible head wounds. She lifted up his eyelids to peek at his eyes, and test there reaction to light. His pupils reacted accordingly to the light, but his eyes seemed to have redness, and what seemed to be faded markings... She wasn't sure what that was, or what she could do about it. She also sensed a large amount of chakra build up behind his forehead. But that could be just something he is working on, storing chakra?
Akane moved to his fingers. She popped each bone back into place, and splinted each one. As for his fractured rib, it'd have to just deal with not getting a splint. She took the medicine that helped slow the bleeding off, and hooked up antibiotics in its place. She then started using her Mystical hands to heal his wounds further. He was now in a stable state, and he would probably have frankenstein scars, because Akane was not well practiced in stitching. She bandaged him up, and gave Tora a thumbs up with her blood covered hands.
"He'll live this time. She stated with a large grin.
