Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.
Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.
Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.
The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.
This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Kotsuko's smile faded. He hadn't expected Homunculus to be so difficult in this endeavor. Figures, seeing as how he already had Kotsuko's body for the most part. A frown made its way over his brow as he realized that his plan wasn't going to be as easy to accomplish as he'd though. Furthermore, there were so other complications that Kotsuko hadn't quite counted on—it seemed that, despite the young boy's familiarity with his own body, having half of his consciousness torn between two bodies did not allow him a great degree of precision control. The part of his soul that was still attached to his own body could prevent his body's usurper from doing anything drastic, but he definitely did not have close to full control over his body's movements. The dead soldier's body, though, was freely manipulated by the young boy. He didn't have anyone to share it with, after all. When the little Dwarf told him to follow along, Kotsuko realized he didn't much have a choice. It was either that or be stuck in between bodies forever. He was glad, at the very least, the soldier's body had been restored to a more alive state; however, he realized this was merely a temporary solution until he could get back his real body. Besides, who knows what other sorts of tricks the demon had added in without telling the young boy.
As Kotsuko guided the dead body to follow along, he felt something off with it. It was a curiously nagging sensation at first—one the young boy couldn't quite put his finger on. It was familiar, and yet distinct. That was the best he was going to get to describing the sensation. As they walked, the feeling persisted. Kotsuko tried to ignore it, but it was making things very hard to concentrate. Kotsuko tried to focus on the task at hand: getting his body back. Or, rather, getting out of this doomed body. Homunculus stopped his walking, having arrived at the location that he'd desired. As Kotsuko walked to join him, he saw a large room with a multitude of books before him. Normally he'd be very happy to see this, but this time he wasn't quite so happy to see this. Time wasn't his friend, and he wasn't exactly the most mobile right now. Couple this in with Homunculus' explanation of things, and Kotsuko was really not pleased with this situation. "Not even going to give me the books directly? Man, you sure are an ungrateful tenant." Joking besides, the young boy's brow had remained furrowed for quite a while now. This was not a good situation. Smirking at the Dwarf's words, Kotsuko began to walk towards the large assortment of books as he called over his shoulder, "You'd like for me to completely let go of that body, wouldn't you? Hehe, if you're going to be using my body, at least don't make it say stupid shit." And with that the young boy disappeared into the maze of books, searching for the one that might allow him to live.
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —Ten or twenty minutes had passed by of the boy looking through the available tomes. So far, he'd managed to find two books of intrigue. One of them was on the dangerous and forbidden art of soul fragmentation, a technique wherein the user was able to break off pieces of their soul and use them how they wished. It was forbidden, due to its dark and malevolent nature. However, Kotsuko had been delighted to find such a piece—a technique where the user could manipulate their soul, freely, was something the young boy was very interested in. The second one, however, had made the boy practically giddy when he found it: Isaki Kushin's personal notes, detailing various experiments and other works of his. Deep within, the young boy had found a section devoted to the failed experiments to create a warrior so in tune with their weapon that it was said to possess a soul of its own. What an interesting take on the whole issue. Kotsuko put the two books away, knowing he'd be using them in a moment. However, before he could head back, he began to feel sick again. He'd been fighting this weird feeling ever since they'd arrived—something crawling around in the back of his head. At first he'd thought it was something familiar, but he was quickly realizing it was something else. It felt like something was watching him, feeding off of him. Was it just the young boy, or was the room getting colder?
"It's you..."
"Negative Space"
Kotsuko froze, unsure what exactly he'd heard. That wasn't Homunculus, he knew that. This voice sounded...empty? It sounded hollow. Kotsuko looked around him, trying to figure out where the source of this voice was coming from. "It's all your fault!" The voice was coming from everywhere. It sounded mad. It sounded like it was close. "Thanks to you, we're both going to die here today..." That was it. No more of this. Kotsuko stood his ground, and spoke out to the phantom voice. "Show yourself! Who are you?" Kotsuko felt a hand on his shoulder. The hairs on the back of his neck shivered as he turned around, looking straight into a pair of white, empty, eyes.
"Don't you recognize me? Or is Hisao really gone for good?" As Kotsuko looked deep into the eyes of this creature, something began to come to his mind. It was a rush, or rather a flood, of various memories. Growing up, falling in love, serving his country, raising a boy, all the while with a secret companion of his own. It all flooded into the young boy's mind like a floodgate, his senses submitting to the overwhelming amount of information. He let it pass. As it did, he managed to croak out a single word, "Fu...". Kotsuko was weak. This...thing...was draining his life energy. "That's right, now you remember. You killed my host, and now I'm going to die along with him. And you, you're the one that caused it all!" There was a deadly pause in the air. The creature raised its hand high above its head, its fingers growing into sharp razors. Its voice was cold and emotionless, "You die where you sta-" Before it could finish, the young boy spoke up, "I can keep you alive!" The creature paused, hearing these words but not reacting to them. Without giving the creature named Fu a chance to keep going, Kotsuko continued to speak. "I saw Hisao's past. His brain, and his memories, are linked to mine. I saw your history with him, and I know what you are. Who would have thought that the Nara Clan had such a highly skilled technique in their arsenal." Fu looked like he was getting angry, and began to move again. Kotsuko kept talking, trying to abate his wrath. "You're, essentially, a living shadow. You were connected to Hisao, and you two fought together. You were symbiotic, him providing chakra and you providing combat support. It sounds like a match made in heaven, except for the part about your partner being dead." Again, Fu seemed angered by these words. "And you're the one who did it!" Ko folded his arms as he responded, "True, but I also am the one who's going to be able to keep you alive."
Fu stopped. He lowered his arm. "How do you plan to do that?" Kotsuko smirked, realizing he'd just shifted the tide of this conversation. "The same way Hisao did. I'll give you some of my chakra, in order to keep you tethered here in the mortal realm." Fu seemed unsure how to feel. Confused, maybe? It was hard to tell from his eyes how he felt, due to their void-like nature. Eventually, after what seemed like an eternity of waiting, Kotsuko saw the shadow nod its head, silently. Grinning, Kotsuko began to take a step back. He would prepare immediately. "However, there is one small thing I'd like you to do for me..."
— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —Kotsuko emerged from the maze of bookshelves, a couple of books in his hands. They included the two Kotsuko had found earlier, and an assortment of some other books he'd found while in there. He expected to see Homunculus waiting for him, and would be a little surprised if he was missing. Laying the books down on the table, Kotsuko began to open them up. "I found several books here, each detailing something different about the transference of one's soul. Many of them talk about reanimating the dead, and keeping the reanimated corpses functioning properly. Now, which one of these is going to keep this body alive?" Kotsuko was being rather direct. He must not feel like he had a lot of time left, if he was being so impatient. What would Homunculus do?

Kotsuko had slowed his pace, matching his speed to be just behind the group of three in front of him. Every minute or so he'd take a quick check as to their location with Tessei Shikai, keeping them a reasonable distance ahead of him. However, this time when he checked he noticed they had stopped. He halted his progress, drifting motionlessly among the rocks and dirt around him. He watched them, slowly expanding his field of monitoring outwards. He could see the gates, and he could even see a few more trainees leaving the safety of the starting area. Those must have been the ones to make a plan before running into the forest. He noted their movements, seeing them drift off to either side of the main group he'd followed. Smirking to himself, the young boy thought that, maybe, he'd be able to play this situation to his advantage. He didn't think any of them would be able to detect him like this, meaning he could use his maneuverability to his advantage. Hiding until the time was right, the young man kept watching each of the groups. He wanted to pick up on signs of combat, which usually was the cause of quick and jerky movements that went all over the place. They'd be his feelers for him.
At that moment, though, the group in front of him decided to split off from each other and move forwards. The young man hadn't expected a maneuver such as that, a little surprised they hadn't opted to stick together more. They did know they were facing up against prisoners of the state, right? Well, whatever. That wasn't his problem. Admittedly, even if the prisoners killed these trainees it wouldn't be the end of the world. Kotsuko was a resourceful man, and the situation would surely take care of itself. And, even if no one managed to kill the prisoners for him, Kotsuko could still work with that scenario. "Hrm, yes, he's the bishop. Speedy, isn't he? She might be a pawn, oh and this one is surely a knight! That one looks like they're a rook, by the way their moving. It seems like we're missing a queen, though..." What the hell was Kotsuko musing to himself about? Chess? Indeed, Kotsuko found this whole thing to be rather like a game to him. He often saw things that way, and his favorite game of all time was chess. Thinking of the battlefield like a chessboard helped the young man to think, organizing his strategies like a well seasoned veteran. He liked chess because it was a game of wit, planning, and out smarting your opponent. You didn't have to sit around, either. You had to play not only against your opponent, but also against the timer. Every second counted, just like in a war. They say that chess and other similar games used to be training exercises for strategists and generals to hone their skills. Kotsuko didn't know how accurate such a statement was, but he did know it helped to relax and focus his mind.
Taking a deep breath, the young man knew what to do. As the team he'd followed advanced, so too did he a little. However, the young man veered off to the right a bit, favoring to follow one of the members of their team. With his Tessei Shikai, Kotsuko could spot the edge of the arena—he was right where he wanted to be. Kotsuko had a plan, and began to prepare a little trick of his. While it was true that he could sense metallic objects all around him, what happened if an enemy didn't carry metal? Kotsuko was no fool, he knew the limitations of his techniques. That's why he knew exactly how to counter them. The young man rose out of the ground, his hands held slightly above his chest. Out of two of the gourds of iron sand he carried on his waist, a steady stream of the metallic powder was dispersed into the air. Showing great control and skill, the young man dispersed the fine iron dust evenly for a good 75 meters around him. The powder floated around in the air, not really enough in one spot to notice unless you were looking for it or caught an odd glimpse off of the sun's rays hitting he dust. Satisfied with his work, Kotsuko sunk back into the ground, safe from being spotted by all but those who could command the earth to their desires. It was here, many meters below the earth's surface, that he focused all of his energy into the Tessei Shikai.
Normally, Kotsuko wasn't able to sense metallic objects from too far away. If he was distracted, 50-75 meters was his maximum. That was just enough to give him a little warning before an enemy was right on top of him. However, if the young man could devote himself solely to keeping track of magnetic disturbances in the area around him, then his range could be greatly increased. 150 meters, in fact, was his absolute maximum. If anyone came within range of Kotsuko, and was wearing metal, the young man would know about it. And the iron sand? If someone entered his radius, but wasn't wearing any metal, then the Sasaki would have no chance at spotting them. His technique required the tracking of metals. The iron sand he'd distributed allowed him to sense if it was being disturbed or pushed to the side. Judging on the size of the object that disturbed the sand, Kotsuko would be able to tell it it was a person or not. It wasn't a lot of warning, but it was more of a last resort effort than anything. There were more efficient ways of alerting ones self to an approaching enemy, such as with clones to scout the perimeter of an area, but they didn't have quite the range of observation that this method had nor its inconspicuous nature. By focusing solely on the Tessei Shiikai, Kotsuko would be able to track individuals with ease, alerting him much earlier to their presence. From his position, the young man was still able to spot the metallic ring-weapon of that one trainee off to the left of the entrance (Katsumi), and even the other member of the group he'd been following who'd gone the other direction (Akane). If he focused his energy on watching, he would have a better shot at sensing what was happening around him. The young boy smirked to himself. "Yes, come on. It's time to play the game! Who will be the first one to die, I wonder?"

Scribble, scribble. Scratch, scratch. Kotsuko's pen flew across the page as he listed down all the things that the woman was saying. He wasn't really listening to much of it, since he just wanted to get it written down and done with. He did raise an eyebrow in two places: the woman's mention of the Mochizuki Clan, and her comments about previous conditions and her preexisting Kinjutsu. The first one was more due to his own personal fond memories. A thin smile snaked its way over his lips as he commented on it. "Mochizuki, huh? So that guy Tomo is one of yours? Good guy. He was fun to mess with." No sympathy showed on the boy's face as he kept going, scribbling out the rest of the notes on the page. Once he was done, the young man tore out the notes and folded it up and put it in his coat pocket. He'd get a nurse to handle the paperwork or something later. That only left them with the second curious bit of Tama's words. "Extra genetic material, eh? So you're looking to absorb another body? Chimera's are always so picky about what they absorb..." As they turned the corner to the hallway where the morgue was located, Kotsuko spotted a small child poking their head out of the doorway. He couldn't quite tell whether they were a girl or a boy. Trying really hard to figure out which one he was, the young man muttered under his breath, "...I'm not old enough to be Professor Oak." As the pair of them approached the morgue, Tama and the young...thing...seemed to burst out in acknowledgement of each other. They must already be acquainted.
When they had finished their little greeting, the young doctor introduced themselves as Osuteno. Thank god, Kotsuko was getting tired of constantly thinking of the kid as an 'it'. "Well met. Now, about those bodies..." Kotsuko grabbed the sheet of paper out of Tama's hands before the woman could complain. He quickly scanned it over, and then crumpled the page and threw it on the ground. "Wow, you have a really boring way of selecting these bodies. Predictable, too. I mean come on, give us a challenge here!" Appearing slightly irritated, the young man shook his head as he went around looking at the text that was printed onto each of the drawers. He worked his jaw as he did, seemingly thinking something over. As he kept looking, the young man called back to the two still standing there. "Look, we've got a lot of bodies that fit your description. To be frank, your criteria are really vague and unhelpful. Give us something more to work with than 'a really generically good body.'"

Kotsuko watched Homunculus, very carefully. Every move that he made, every breath that he took, was carefully watched an analyzed. The young man could not afford to let any opportunity of his go to waste, and so he waited with the deadly patience of a snake. When he saw the right moment, he would strike with fangs extended and poison dripping. As Homunculus opened the books to look through a few techniques, Kotsuko was taking note of the ones he glossed over. The first one seemed incredibly complicated, having something to do with an essence of the departed soul and manipulating its thoughts and movements—way too complicated for Kotsuko to wrap his head around yet. The second one was just as strange, calling forth a medium of some kind to act as the connection between two souls. Kotsuko didn't get it, and figured that wouldn't even help him in this situation. The third one, however, seemed rather interesting. Homunculus didn't explain it at all, but from what Kotsuko could gather it involved some sort of seal being placed on the body. It provided limitless strength to the user, and seemed to uphold their vitality and strength. That one might work well, but it didn't seem like he'd be able to master that. Like Homunculus said, it seemed very difficult. However, it wasn't impossibly hard—because of that, maybe Kotsuko would be able to bluff him on it. Just maybe.
Giving the unwelcome guest currently in his body a coy smile, Kotsuko placed one of his hands down on top of the book. "Looks simple enough. Let's try it out a little bit." Kotsuko flipped through the pages to see what the technique entailed. It seemed that the shape of the marking would be dependent upon the amount and type of energy that Kotsuko put into the technique. There were a few different possibilities, but the one that he was most interested in was the seal of the earth, the Gaia Seal. Apparently it grounded the user to the world, strengthening their bond to the land around them and focusing their essence towards the physical arts. That's the kind that he'd want, if he were to actually try this. "Alright then, let's see what we can do here..." Kotsuko went through the handseals necessary. It wasn't a very complex pattern, but it had enough different seals so that if he did it fast then Homunculus wouldn't be able to pay attention. Perfect. He ran his fingers through the seals, and focused his chakra and soul energy into his palm. When he felt the energy reaching its peak, he brought his palm down towards his thigh, feeling the energy taking effect. He could feel it seeping into his leg, and slowly he saw the symbol begin to take shape. He could feel the vitality in the body growing as he did, being supported by the odd technique. However, before all three lines of the seal could form, Kotsuko could feel the energy becoming unstable. He figured this would happen, since this was only his first attempt at such a complicated technique, but he'd made it farther than he'd thought. He allowed the energy to dissipate, releasing the technique and feeling the instant drain on the body. His vision became a little blurry for a moment, and he could feel that the amount of energy he'd just expended was dangerous. He fought back into control, though, and felt his grip on both this body and his own holding strong.
"Phew, didn't expect that. Jeez..." Kotsuko figured Homunculus was enjoying himself. Watching him struggle and flail like this. He'd let him have his fun for right now. Steeling his eyes, and focusing his determination, Kotsuko spoke up as he concentrated. "Once more." This was the big moment. It was now or never. Homunculus wouldn't expect an assault now, of all times. Nor would he see it. Kotsuko sped through the handseals yet again, only this time they weren't for the same technique. He'd learned this technique through this body's memories, knowing just how to mold his chakra in order to use it. Kotsuko's trap was being set into motion. This was the Shadow Possession Jutsu, and it was aimed directly at Homunculus. Everything was riding on the outcome of this gamble, though Kotsuko had done everything in his power to ensure as much of its success. Hopefully, within the next fifteen minutes, he'd be happily back in his own body.

"Maybe you need to stop complaining." Kotsuko spoke calmly, but harshly, to his trailing partner. As the orange haired man caught up, he seemed completely out of breath. Kotsuko's eyes looked him up and down, trying to understand how someone who seemed so pathetic was expected to be able to participate properly in this event. He did realize that this was potentially fatal, right? Something about this situation made Kotsuko feel uneasy, but he couldn't put his finger on it. It was bugging him in the back of his mind, but he wasn't sure what it was. He decided to leave it be for now, and to merely focus on this mission. He wanted to find one of those birds very much so, and he was beginning to think that he may have to do it alone. Kechi didn't seem like he'd be much help in this endeavor. So far, he merely seemed interested in complaining about their situation. "Now's not really the time for wishing. If you can't take it, then go hike back down the mountain. I'm sure there's some people you could scam in the village, instead of annoying me with your prattling." Kotsuko wasn't the complaining type, and it drove him mad to hear others do so. He sighed a heavy sigh, and sat down on a rock. They would wait long enough for the con-artist to rest up. The young man was seriously done with this whole situation. He lit himself another cigarette as he tried to relax, letting the smoke wash over him.
However, it seemed the cat-eared man didn't get it. He didn't understand how annoyed Kotsuko would get. He didn't understand how impossibly impatient the white haired Sasaki was. Nor could he possibly fathom how little Kotsuko cared for his life. The tanuki's words were like nails on a chalkboard to Kotsuko, and every sentence the man uttered made Kotsuko's face twist in agony. He couldn't take this. This man would drive him mad. Kotsuko had had enough. In one movement the young man undid the gourds at his waist with magnetic chakra, and gathered a huge amount of iron sand into his fist. He reached his hand out towards the man, grabbing for his face. Well, more specifically his mouth. If he was able to grab a hold of the unaware tanuki's face, the iron sand would begin to crawl up from his hand and encircle Kechi's head. He would be unable to talk, the sand covering his entire mouth and encroaching upon his nose. It was slowly crushing him, squeezing any part of his head that it could until it had wrapped completely around. The distinctive smell of blood was heavy in the man's nose, or maybe that was just the iron? If Kechi looked into Kotsuko's eyes, he'd see them as cold and harsh. He didn't care at all for this man. "I told you already, you're annoying. Either shut up, or die." Kotsuko looked deep into Kechi's eyes, looking for something. Even though the con-artist's words had been annoying, there was something about them. Something probing. Something questioning. Kotsuko knew that look in Kechi's eyes: the con-artist had the same look that Kotsuko always had. They were fake eyes, searching for something without giving anything up. Interesting.
Kotsuko released the man, letting the iron sand slither back into the gourd at his waist. Kotsuko kept his gaze firmly locked with Kechi's. He reached up and pulled the cigarette out of his mouth, blowing the smoke directly into Kechi's face. Who knew what was going through the tanuki's head right now. "If you ever have anything to say to me, just say it. I'm not going to sit here and listen to you all day." Was that a double meaning? Or was Kotsuko simply an impatient man? The light grey eyes revealed nothing, only a constant hunger. For what, though, depended on what he was looking at. "Now then, shall we continue? Or is there anything else you'd like to ramble on about?"

As Kotsuko took the list of bodies currently in the morgue from the young Osuteno, he began to flip through the pages as he sped read through the different options. Lots of information to sort through, and not many specifications to bring the list down. As the young man looked through the list, not even listening to the woman complaining about his treatment of her brother, the young man's mind began to wander. Some of these bodies looked pretty interesting, actually. They might be suitable for some very interesting research. Kotsuko began to star some very specific names on the list—some were due to bloodline traits, others had very specific bodily conditions, and others had abnormal skills that would be interesting to look into. As he went about looking through the list, though, the young woman's voice began to fade back into focus for him. He glanced up with a blank expression on his face as she began to get a little more specific about what it was she wanted. Something physical? Bone of the sword? The young man's eyebrow raised slightly as his mind began to catch up to what it was she subconsciously knew. "Oh? Now that's interesting..." Jeez, dealing with these kinds of people was such a pain. You really had to dig deep in order to get them to give an answer they already knew. They just didn't know that they knew.
"So, you need a body that's proficient in hand-to-hand combat..." The young man went down the list, crossing off all of those bodies that used long ranged techniques and genjutsu. They were down to about 50 out of 128. "...and you need it to be graceful and fluid..." Kotsuko crossed off the ones that used brute strength to fight, leaving only the fighters that seemed the most nimble and flexible. They were down to about 40 now. "...and you need it to be self-sufficient. A skill that doesn't need tools to make it work." Looking down the list, there were now only about 20 that fit the bill. Kotsuko's eyes swept over the list, knowing in his heart which ones would appeal to the woman. Many individuals on this list matched her specifications, but he was almost sure which ones she'd be interested in. Lifting his eyes up from the paper, the young man gave her and the younger doctor a devilish grin. Just what was he planning? "Something to punch? Now wouldn't that be something..." Turning his back to the two, as if he was going to walk around the room to look for something, the young man couldn't help but smile to himself. Without so much as a handseal, the young man activated his technique. A dark technique, vile and malicious, he had targeted the 20 or so bodies they'd singled out from the list. Suddenly, a bang reverberated through the morgue.
There was another. And another. They were coming from different sides, rattling from inside the morgue's cabinets. One of the bodies that Osuteno had been speaking to earlier, Yamauchi, began to move. The corpse lifted itself up, turning its head to look at the three of them in the room. Slowly the body began to get up, its rotted feet barely able to support its weight. Kotsuko, almost unable to hide his smirk, turned back to the two of them with a serious face. "Well, it looks like you got your wish. We should probably act quickly here..." Suddenly the other cabinets burst open, the bodies laying inside them getting up. It was like something out of a campfire story. The young man wondered how the other two would react.

The young man wondered how the other two would react.Jutsu List said:[col3]Kinjutsu: Dark Sage (禁術悪三忍)

As Kotsuko's eyes swept across the grand gala, he wondered just whom he knew here. He wondered if he might spy the new Medical Sennin here, as he'd yet to have a chance to introduce himself to her. As he heard, she was related to the previous Sennin. Was that how she got her position? Either way, he needed to make sure she knew who he was, and that he was a friendly medical shinobi—with only a slight penchant for the forbidden and morbid arts—who was just looking to learn as much as he could from the ever knowledgeable Medical Branch. It was imperative that she knew this about himself. He kept his ears and eyes open, searching for her and any other figures whom he could persuade of his altruistic nature.
As he smoothly navigated his way across the dance floor, however, a figure approached him. He'd been so busy focusing on the figures he wanted to find, he hadn't considered the possibility of someone else looking for him. How refreshing. The young man blinked once or twice, as his eyes looked this lovely figure up and down. She certainly was far bolder in her dress, opting for a much more revealing dress in regards to her slender and well toned legs. A kunoichi indeed, but a fair and lovely one at that. It wasn't often that Kotsuko showed his interest in women, but how could he not on this day? There was a game to be played here, and he would not miss out on his chance to play. "Of course. Why would I miss an opportunity to vex and puzzle the fair and curious women of the night?" As he spoke, a waiter walked by the two of them with a tray of two glasses of champagne. Without skipping a beat, Kotsuko seamlessly snatched the two glasses off of the tray before the man had the chance to escape his arm reach. With the grace and poise of a true gentleman, Kotsuko graciously offered one of the two glasses to his conversational partner. "Though I must say, you are setting quite the high standard of beauty for the rest of the women here." Assuming the woman took the glass, Kotsuko would slid the mask slightly off of his face—revealing just a smidgen of his snow white hair—so that he could take a sip of his drink, the bubbly and sweet-tasting drink tingled his taste buds. It was a fine nectar, perfect for an occasion like tonight.
As the two of them stood there, beginning their conversation for the night, Kotsuko couldn't shake the feeling that something about her was familiar. He'd met a lot of people in his life, so it wasn't impossible that he knew her from somewhere, but something told him that he knew her as more than just a passing acquaintance. As he looked closer at her, he realized there was something odd: her left eye seemed to be covered in a black cloth. Her other eye, however, was a brilliant shade of green. For some reason, he felt like this should mean something to him. Unfortunately for Kotsuko's psyche, he couldn't figure out why exactly this was important right now. It bothered him still, but he was drawing a blank. He decided to instead focus on something else, doing what he could to keep the conversation going strong. "I suppose now would be the time where I would, normally, ask for your name. However, on this night, I feel that would be in bad taste. Instead, let me ask this: would you care to waltz?" At this time, the young man would extend out his hand for the young woman to take, his hands clean and unwavering. He was a confident man, and it showed in his body language. "I do very much love this song, and would hate to have to dance alone."

Kotsuko took a long drag from his cigarette, the ashen taste of smoke and fire stained his lips. His eyes kept watching the tanuki's, looking even harder to see what it was the man wanted. That man had a grin in his eyes unlike anything that Kotsuko had seen. His entire demeanor had changed from that of an over-aged child to a cold and calculating business man. Kotsuko liked this side of him much more. Kotsuko watched as the man spoke his words, twirled the coin in his hands, and spoke in cryptic terms. He certainly knew how to pique the white haired man's curiosity. Kotsuko allowed himself to sit back down into his seat after that little incident, trying to get himself comfy again. Kechi's words needed to be deliberated upon. "What is my desire?" The young man looked to the conniving con-artist in front of him, who's agenda was as much a mystery to Kotsuko as Kotsuko's was to him. A smile crept over Kotsuko's face. "What sort of game are you playing at? I love games, but I feel like maybe you're trying to play without explaining all of the rules first." Breathing in deeply for another pull of his cigarette, the young man tilted his head backwards to blow the smoke out. He watched as the tendrils and wisps floated off into the breeze. Speaking to no one in particular, the young man continued. "A fair game isn't a game worth playing. The fun comes from out smarting your opponent, not using cheap tricks to ensure victory."
Kotsuko brought his head back down to look at the tanuki man, his eyes steely and unyielding. With one last inhale, the man dropped the cigarette from his mouth. As the burning piece of paper hit the ground, the ashes scattering ever so slightly, Kotsuko brought one crushing boot over top it, smashing the flame into non-existence. Kotsuko stood himself up, stretching his bones and cracking his knuckles. It was a trait he was used to, and it helped soothe his body ever so slightly. "So, enough with the smoke and mirrors here." Kotsuko cracked his neck to the left. "I'm not going to be bought or blackmailed by you, so why don't you just tell me what it is you want of me?" Kotsuko cracked his neck to the right. "Depending on what it is, I might be interested. However..." Kotsuko pressed his hands up against his back, cracking his spine all the way up. He let out a slight grunt as he did so. "...if I find your proposal unsatisfactory, we may have a bit of a problem here." Kotsuko turned his head back to look at the tanuki, a subtle grin on his face. "After all, it is my moral duty to report any suspicious, treacherous, or otherwise illegal operations in the village I'm sworn to protect. And I wouldn't want to be accused of not defending my own village, would I?" This was a game that Kotsuko could play well. He'd been doing it for quite some time now, and had become something of a master of the art. It would be time to see just how well Kechi could keep up with this fun little activity of theirs.

Kotsuko watched with glee as the little boy and the woman sprang right into action. The corpses began to file in towards them, focusing most of their efforts towards the woman — as well they should have, for she was the one who had requested such an activity. Kotsuko was enjoying this little show, seeing the young shinobi with his penchant for plasma based abilities and the woman's aptitude for replication. The two of them were quite fascinating, indeed. As he watched the two in action, the young man pulled out a little black notebook and began to write some things down. He never once took his gaze off of the two fighting, however. His pen flew across the page as he observed the two of them, noting down different things about the way in which they were fighting, their skills, and various other things worth noting. He just stood there, taking his notes, while the woman seemed to be having the time of her life fighting these things off. When the young boy, Osuteno, called towards Kotsuko for his name, the young man merely waved his hand at him before getting back to his note taking. "Oh, it doesn't matter. Don't worry about it. Shouldn't you be more worried about the walking corpses rather than my name?" Kotsuko gave the kid a sideways smirk, somewhere in-between a genuine smile and a gruesome grin. But Kotsuko didn't do anything else questionable. He didn't activate any jutsu, nor did he make any handseals. He merely stood there, observing the scene as it unfolded. Around the time that the Mochizuki woman had absorbed the DNA of the so called 'Mrs. Yamauchi', Kotsuko stopped his scribbling and instead began to watch very carefully. He walked a few paces forward, trying to see if he could get a better look at the events unfolding. "Seems like she's found what it was that she came here for..." The young man seemed pleased with the events that had transpired. As Tama kept on with the battle, Kotsuko seemed to be getting more and more excited. It wasn't until, finally, when she absorbed the full genetic code of the corpse formally known as 'Mrs. Yamauchi' that he truly seemed ecstatic. "There we go! That's what I like to see!"
It wasn't long, however, until the pain of absorbing another person's genetic code began to sink into her. Her cells were ripping each other apart, and it seemed like she had some other symptoms too. Her body was having a hard time re-configuring itself to account for the extra genetics, and it hadn't taken long for her to collapse to the floor in agonizing pain. She was helpless, now, to fight against the lumbering corpses. It didn't matter, they'd served their purpose. The young man merely waved them down, and the corpses began to back away. They organized themselves into a single-file line, off to the side so that Osuteno and Kotsuko could approach the woman. Kotsuko looked to the young boy, noting the pair of blood wings that were still active. "The fighting is over now, so put those away. It'll be a little hard to keep this woman alive with those things in the way." Turning back to the woman, the young man knelt down next to her. "Well, this is certainly interesting. She seems to be slipping in and out of this plane of existence. Seems she's part wraith. Probably another one of the skills she's absorbed thus far, which would mean this is her second time doing this..." Noting the intensity at which the bones inside her ghostly body were growing, the young man rubbed his chin in amazement. "While incredibly useful, and very cool, this doesn't look safe. She's going to need to be under some intense anesthetics, otherwise she's going to hurt herself." As he said so, the young man brought his hand up to her mouth. Immediately it began to glow with a green hue, indicating his use of a medical technique. Kotsuko was infusing into her system a powerful painkiller, to the point that she wouldn't even notice that she was in pain. She would still be a little conscious, though. Not enough to really remember what was going to happen, but enough so that she could respond weakly to what was going on around her. Sighing, the young man picked himself up off the ground. He looked to Osuteno as he began to proceed to the next step. "Well, that should keep her relatively sedated. She's going to need it for the next phase..."
Kotsuko unstrapped the small gourds of iron sand at his waist, depositing them on the ground before him. With one hand, he used his magnetic chakras to pull a small stream of the stuff up into the air. It hovered in his palm like an amorphous ball, shifting in size and shape. As he focused, he'd explain himself to the young boy. "Alright, so right now this woman is seriously hurting. We're going to speed up the development of her new bone structure, okay? I know you've got a knack for blood-based ninjutsu, so you're going to help with the creation of new marrow for her. She's just absorbed Kaguya DNA, so right now her entire skeletal structure is in jeopardy, understand?" Kotsuko's face was blank right now. He was in operation mode. Life was, normally, a game to him; however, when he was operating things very quickly become serious business. He wasn't going to be the one responsible for this woman's death. Not today, at least. "While you're facilitating new marrow growth, I'm going to help direct the new bone tissue to grow faster. This way, she can get through this process much faster." With the ball of shifting iron sands in his hand, the young man brought the orb down to her skin. Using it to make a precise incision, the young man would slowly pour the iron sand into her bloodstream. It was his signature style of medical ninjutsu, where he would use the iron sand inside of her to accurately and safely perform medical techniques internally. It was much more effective than normal methods, and was far safer too. Kotsuko looked to the young boy once more. "Once you're ready, we'll begin this. Just tell me when, and we'll both begin the process of saving this woman. You ready?" As soon as the kid said the word, Kotsuko would begin his technique. He would utilize his chakra to help grow her bones faster, accelerating the process she was undergoing drastically. It would be the fastest way to get her through this process, by a long shot.

"Potential, huh?" A wide smirk had made its way onto the young man's face, betraying deep down his amusement with this verbal game of theirs. It was getting rather fun, though it seemed that neither of them really seemed to be homing in on the subject that mattered: what did they, both, truly want from this? They were circling around each other, looking for weakness in the other where none seemed to exist. Perhaps they each thought that they would be able to gain without giving, and in doing so come out on top. Kotsuko could respect a man like this, a man who could play this most interesting game so absolutely. "Well, I appreciate the offer very much. Such a cheat code certainly is a rare opportunity. However, I'd like for you to clear one little thing up for me." Kotsuko's smirk was gone now, replaced with a stern and business-like look. While the young man did enjoy this game, he knew they'd have to move faster than this. If they were to get anywhere, one of them would need to move forward. When dealing with another master of the game, it was best to give up a bit of ground so as to see what move he'll make. From there, perhaps more steps could be made. They had moved into the late-game here. "It sounds like I'm getting the best deal here. What exactly is it you're getting out of this arrangement?"
Kotsuko began to pace around the small platform they had. His eyes wandered around them, looking to various parts of the mountains as he contemplated his words. The crisp air was refreshing, to say the least. "You must need me for some kind of research, otherwise you wouldn't be exposing yourself like this. Probably something illegal, given these odd offers." Scratching the back of his head, Kotsuko looked to the tanuki man for some answers. He'd given up some ground with the man, so it was time for this loan shark to be a bit more frank with Kotsuko as well. "I'm not going to rat you out. I've got my own agenda to keep in motion, and having a bunch of ANBU sniffing around everything I do doesn't help me much. If you've got some sort of operation going on, you'd do best to tell me the full scope of it. Otherwise, I'm not going to be able to help you all that well." Kotsuko would stare the man down for a little, trying to see into that red-haired head of his. What was going on behind those glasses?
Whatever it was, the tanuki would surely tell him in time. Turning around, Kotsuko began up the hills again. Kechi was right, they did still have a bird to catch. Kotsuko figured that the man could tell him everything on the way. It's not like they couldn't walk and talk, right?
