Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Prologue — Academy Days
fZShOa2.jpg

"Hmhm, hmhm...~" a faint chuckling could be heard echoing throughout one of the many yards located on the academy grounds. It almost sounded like... it was coming from up above? And whoever it was sounded like they were up to no good. The sound of a scroll unfurling followed next as a familiar shades-wearing chūnin sat down on a branch situated near the top of a tall tree and dangled his legs over the side. "Got a couple of minxes on my hands here, don't I?" he thought to himself, his sunglasses doing nothing to hide the devilish smirk he had on his face as he scanned over the scroll. It was pink in color with the kanji ' 非公開 ' clearly inscribed on the front for all to see. 'Your eyes only' were the orders of the day and boy for once in his life was he glad to fall in line. The contents were enough to make even the most chaste of monks blush but he did not, just sat there smirking as he inspected it. A parting gift from some friends who had taken real good care of him the night before. Surveillance jutsu were useful for more things than just spying, you know. You could capture and replay all sorts of experiences. "I love chakra." It was indeed a wonderful thing.

A miracle, he thought.

Scattered around the yard were several numbered stations with various activities. First up was a table that had been set up with several sets of various shapes, all with the same slate grey coloring. Secondly an area that looked to be target practice setup, with a table containing all manner of ninja tools and projectile weaponry and a lone scarecrow donning a farmer's straw hat about fifty yards down range from it. Lastly was a tall station that appeared to be some sort of walk-in booth big enough for multiple people to enter and separated by walls and curtains. Very mysterious. Of course there were also areas dedicated to refreshments. Tea, water, lemonade, sugary caffeinated beverages, rice balls with different fillings, dango, candies, popsicles, ice creams and the like. And another table just begging to be abused holding a stack of multi-colored water balloons, foam ninja weapon toys, bouncy balls, and even a few obnoxious plastic whistle-like things that would definitely drive someone crazy if sounded enough. It was a recipe for kiddie chaos and several students from other classes that were on recess had already begun to fiddle with the exhibits.

For now he would sit in his tree and wait for his students, expecting to see some familiar faces from the class he held before. He was distracted surely by whatever lewd document he was eyeing but that was besides the point. Plans had been set in motion for a select group of the kids and today he would decide on whether or not they had what it took. They had better. Otherwise all that extra work he had put in to formulate this whole thing would go to waste! It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world though. If they didn't make the cut that just meant more free time to go out and have fun. And more scrolls. "Please fail..." the thought flashed into his brain. He was kidding of course! Mostly...

3... 2... 1... Perfect. Small hands finished positioning the last of the various snacks on the tables set up on the side of the academy grounds. Haniki's father had offered to assist in catering today's event and his daughter was filled with pride to have all of their creations out on display for everyone to enjoy. She had spent an unreasonable amount of time decorating the rice balls to appear as small animals, using sesame seeds and other ingredients to create eyes, mouths and seaweed whiskers. "All done, Papa!" She called out, and just in time for some of the other students to file out into the courtyard. Haniki removed the handkerchief from her head that had pulled her hair back and out of the way, stashing it in the pocket of her light blue jinbei. She left her sleeves tied across her back, fabric bunching near her shoulders.

While she enjoyed prepping for the event, she was far more excited to participate in it with the friends she had started to make during her time enrolled at the academy. She wasn't sure if Yuki would be allowed to attend, but perhaps Shishiwakamaru would show up. There would hopefully be at least one person she could hold a genuine conversation with, even if it was about menial and seemingly dumb stuff. The out of pocket and unlikely hypotheticals she explored with Yuki were always her favorite interactions, delving far too deep into meaningless concepts and trying to find logically pathways within them. Before heading towards the class meeting spots, Haniki rewarded herself with a small cup of lemonade.

He wasn't sure if this event was another class or an extracurricular activity that didn't actually give him any credits at the academy. He would let out a sigh, he was hoping this was an actual class because he didn't have time to waste playing with children. Knowing his luck, he was going to at the academy with that Yuki girl who just wanted to dance and sing instead of being an actual shinobi. As he approached the school, he was standing without any of his traditional gear, and insrtead he was wearing a simple black tank top and blue shorts. His open toed sandles clacked against the hard surface of the roadways. His blonde hair was down and fluttering through the air. He was hoping for a course on combat, especially after that last class with Daiji-Sensei. His peers could use the practice. The words of Asuka-Sensei also echoed through his mind reminding him that he needed to learn to lean on others and practice actual teamwork.

His eyes looked across the field as he saw various stations. "Seriously..." His shitty attitude was present as always. Stepping up to the refreshment table Shusuke would address Haniki without looking at her. "Didn't get the memo we were supposed to be working before class. You taking a mission I didn't see on the bulletin board? Surprised you were able to grab one before me." His pupil-less eyes shifted harshly at her. This was supposed to be his peer. He felt like there was something more to her. Their interactions have been short, but he felt like maybe in a different life they would be best of friends. He could say why though. His gaze shifted back towards the table before grabbing a drink and walking way.

"Daiji-Sensei, what is all of this. You better not be wasting my time." He spoke up some as he was sure the Sensei could hear him from where he was. A second passed. "Hey, Grandpa, if we are playing hide and seek you'll lose." The cocky child chuckled slightly.

Shishiwakamaru had never heard of a 'field day' before, he wondered if it was similar to a field trip as he stared back at his reflection in the mirror as he put up his ebony hair. If he had to take a guess as to the true nature of this field day he would have to say they would be doing something less serious and more fun. Whether or not it was an official class or not didn't bother the young Nara in the slightest as it meant more opportunities to grow and make new lasting bonds. There was little rush to graduate and 'grow up' as some might put it. Sure they were being trained to be shinobi, a class of people designated for all manner of missions, some of which included less agreeable things, such as assassination. Not that he ever hoped to be a killing machine like that, no. He had set his eyes on a higher purpose, one of selfless sacrifice and mitigating the woes of this world. He wanted to be a Med-nin!

Having just arrived he scanned the area in search of people he knew. There were a number of other students already rummaging about several tables that had various items set out on them. He took a mental note of the contents on the tables, as he did so he noticed someone he knew, Haniki! As he suddenly noticed her he would wave his hand as he called out. "Ohayo!" Shishi would jog over to his friend who was enjoying a rather attractive looking glass of lemonade. "Hey Haniki, glad you were able to attend. I was worried Shusuke and I would be all alone." He gestured towards Shusuke, who Shishi had just noticed was attempted to coerce their Daiji-sensei out of hiding with some snide remarks regarding their age gap. Shishi would chuckle lightly at Shusuke's behavior. Even though he was kinda stubborn and headstrong at times, he had really grown on Shishi. Deep down he knew they weren't that different, they both had their troubles, and they both wanted to be accepted, to be loved.

Seeing that Shusuke had yet to say or do anything rash enough to force Daiji-sensei out of hiding, assuming he even was, Shishi continued his small talk with Haniki. Things weren't as awkward anymore between them, even though their very first interaction was... embarrassing. Shishi had come to respect her for more than just her looks. In fact she was quite the academic, smarter than most he knew. Rarely a time was there not a book in her hand, lowkey he kinda aspired to have that sort of dedication towards gaining knowledge. "So, Haniki... I heard a rumor that you and your family helped prepare for today. Did you guys set up everything, or just a few tables?" If Shusuke happened to look over and see them both together he would wave and smile so he knew that his presence was most welcome as well.

Haniki raised her hand, wiping the back of her thumb across her lip to catch a small bead of condensation. "No mission here, Shusuke." She corrected the assumption before continuing. "But I'm sure my dad will put your butt to work if you're really that bored." Haniki smiled with a momentary scrunch of her nose. Just as she finished speaking she could hear Shishiwakamaru's greeting from across the way. Haniki gave a small wave close to her body as her friend approached.

"Good morning, Shishiwakamaru." A breath of a laugh escaped her, "Yeah, I've been here for a while setting up." She confirmed, eyes scanning all the tables they had managed to fill and organize. "Not all of the food is from us, some are from the shops around the restaurant, but it's just been us here getting everything ready." Haniki let out a sigh of relief that it was time to simply enjoy the fruits of their labor and she could hang out with her other classmates.

Managing a series of containers filled with ice and other goods was Haniki's father. He was a tall man standing just above six feet with short black hair. He was out of his usual work attire, appearing far more casual and like the everyday civilian he was. No headband, pouches of weapons, leg straps or other obvious signs of a ninja's profession. Despite his lack of ninja attire and expertise, Haniki's father looked as though he wouldn't shy away from a simple street brawl and hold his own provided the other didn't play dirty. Haniki joined in, giving her dad a wave, although it was more of a goodbye as she would run away to other responsibilities and leave him with the job of catering. With his hands full, the man returned a nod of acknowledgement.

A familiar voice called out to the instructor who was much too absorbed in whatever bawdy material he was reading to notice its arrival beforehand. Upon hearing his student he raised an eyebrow, stood from his seated position on the branch and formed half of a hand seal to funnel some chakra into the soles of his feet. "Oi." his voice would call in response and as nonchalant as if he was walking he would lean forward atop the large branch and disappear right over the edge. Instead of falling his soles stuck to the bark and swung him around slightly before coming to a halt on the underside of the tree limb. Only the top half of his body was visible through the dense mass of leaves but now the sensei was staring at the group of the students all topsy-turvy. "I'm not that old." It was true! He was only twenty. Though with the average life expectancy of ninja getting shorter and shorter every year... maybe he was onto something. His shaded eyes glanced over all three ninja-in-training. Shusuke the temperamental prodigy. Shishiwakamaru the unsuspecting thinker. And Haniki, who was a bit of an unknown element to him in this equation. Only known to him through personnel files, academy scores, and passing interactions. Today would help confirm some of his assumptions and lay the groundwork for the future. Or they could wash out and he could go back to raunching it up around the village.

Yeah... he wouldn't mind that at all.

Rolling up the pink scroll he would place it securely in one the pockets on his flak jacket and seemingly vanish from his upside down position on the branch. Next thing the students knew he would be standing in the midst of them his movement too swift to be perceived (Shadow Dance). Speed was one of his specialties and this particular jutsu was how he normally made his entrances. Made sure to leave out the smoke this time though. Daiji would raise a hand to rest atop the Yamanaka boy's head tousling his hair playfully. "Time's never wasted when you're having fun." a smirk crossed his face. With his fellow students and his sensei all giving him a hard time it was only a matter of time before they got through that tough exterior of his. Placing his hands back within his pockets the chūnin would saunter out in front of the group and turn to face them before clearing his throat. "Camaraderie's important." he would begin staring over the top of his glasses at Shusuke in particular. "And it's clear to me that we need to stress teamwork to our up-and-coming ninja." his head would nod to the numbered stations situated behind them. "With that in mind... it's Field Day!" Daiji sure did his best to add some extra 'oomph' on the end but the casual tone of his voice wasn't suited to these kinds of things. A quick stop by the miscellaneous toy table and he returned with several tiny 'ninja poppers'. Throwing them to the ground a few small snaps rang out. That was more like it!

Gesturing to the kids to follow he would approach the first table that contained several sets of what looked to be puzzles of some sort.

Multiple loose pieces all scattered atop the table lay in five piles. A fifth of the table for Haniki, a fifth for Shusuke, and another fifth for Shishiwakamaru. The other two sections were left unassigned until Daiji waved over two wandering students at recess to join the group. If the kids looked closely they would be able to see what appeared to be hinges on several of the pieces but notably only one hinge piece per pile. "Everyone loves puzzles right?" he would say, still smirking as he stood aside and faced the children. "You get two minutes to solve your section of the puzzle. Each completed part brings you closer to the solution." he paused, reaching into his pocket and withdrawing a stopwatch. "If you're too slow you lower the odds of solving it for everyone else." It was a simple enough premise. Though of course as with most things involving the wily instructor things were not exactly as they seemed. If they tried to just stick the completed sections together they would not hold. Something else was required. He glanced at the three standouts before him. They were smart. It was time to see if they could put those heads of theirs together and cooperate in succeeding. "Win as a team or lose as one."

"And..."
another pause, briefly building a bit of suspension. "...go!" a click sounded out as he clicked the mechanical watch, starting the timer. Field Day was officially on!

Upon hearing familiar "Oi." Shishiwakamaru would draw his attention away from Haniki towards Daiji-sensei. It would appear Shusuke has a unique ability to summon people simply by making a few derogatory remarks about sed individual. With a swift counter-argument Daiji-sensei would likewise appear amongst the children that had turned up just outside the academy grounds. "Time's never wasted when you're having fun." A sentiment Shishi could appreciate, and it was nice to know that Daiji-sensei wasn't a super serious instructor. Some were almost like drill instructors, no fun allowed! Sure, Daiji-sensei had a lackadaisical outlook in life, or at least that's what Shishi had gathered on the surface level. But just like ogres, shinobi often had many layers to their nature.

Their quasi-indolent instructor went on to explain the importance of comradery, specifically teamwork. The tinted shades made it difficult to discern if he was singling anyone out with this statement, but Shishiwakamaru could understand that even if he was, it was very important for everyone present to also understand. Based on the overall performance of their last class, and the severe lack of coordination and unity displayed by his peers, teamwork was a most essential ingredient that each and every one present needed to add to their main dish. Shishi was most excited for today's lesson, field day or not, Daiji-sensei would no doubt have some brilliant nuggets of wisdom to depart amongst his younglings.

puzzlepiece2.png
With a wave of his hand he shepherded his flock over to a table with a variety of curiously shaped blocks. A single brow rose with interest as Shishi inspected the objects laid out on display for the group of students. Questions came to mind, but thankfully their first-rate teacher was on the ball, so to speak, and promptly explained the task he would have them perform. A wide grin spread across Shishi's face as Daiji-sensei asked if anyone liked puzzles. Before his mother had passed, Shishiwakamaru often put puzzles together. Nothing quite so peculiar as this, but he certainly did enjoy a good puzzle.

Crossing his arms as their instructor explained the rules of this little game, he placed a single hand on his chin in a 'I'm deep in thought' sort of way. It seemed fairly straight forward, but in the back of his mind he replayed the twisted events of his first class with Daiji-sensei. Would there be another wild twist to this, or was it really as simple as trying to solve the puzzle within the allotted time. Stepping up to his section of this station he looked at the pieces laid out in front of him, cut into unusual shapes. In his mind he was already trying to piece the puzzle together before their timer had even started. Upon hearing "...go!" Shishiwakamaru quickly went to work fitting pieces together, attempting to accomplish his task. The faint tick-tick-tick of the mechanical watch loomed in the back of his mind, not helping in the concentration department. Perhaps he was overthinking the task still, expecting Daiji-sensei to suddenly explode into a raging fire or something insane. With a few seconds to spare Shishi would raise his hand. "I'm finished!" The various pieces he had assembled had formed an isosceles triangle with the Kanji reading "Wind" sketched across the various segments that made the whole. Taking a quick look at the other's progress he noticed Haniki was well on her way, not surprising for someone of her caliber of intellect. Glancing at Shusuke's work was somewhat similar. Noticing a few straggling pieces he would whisper to Shusuke; "Psst, I think that one will fit there..." Unsure if he was actually allowed to help he opted to do it anyway since Daiji-sensei had expressed the importance of teamwork.

Haniki chuckled at the banter between Daiji and Shusuke. The boy really had a bone to pick with everyone. All of her hard work setting up today had steadily grown the anticipation for whatever activities they did end up participating in, and the one they were put to first had to be the one she favored most.

hanikis_puzzle_piece.png

Daiji wasted no time it sectioning them out across the table, Haniki giving a quiet hello to the other two students that joined them. Their Sensei gave the order and puzzle pieces slid across the table from all corners, some with more ease than others. There was little hesitation as Haniki positioned pieces together, sliding them into place. She finished her piece moments before Shishiwakamaru, her own piece to the group puzzle displaying the kanji for "Fire". Eyes shifted to Shishiwakamaru's, seeing "Wind" across his and the slow formation of other symbols amongst her teammates sections of the table.

Shishiwakamaru's announcement prompted a very quick and matter-of-fact, "No, you're not." from Haniki. "You're not done until everyone is." Similar to her own, Haniki slid pieces across the table to help the two newcomers, bringing the to the correct orientation but allowing them to place it themselves. "The five primal elements," She thought aloud. "Katon, Fuuton, Raiton, Doton, Suiton." Haniki recited the five chakra release elements in the order in which they flowed with and against one another, motioning with her hand towards the person the element belonged to in this scenario. Despite some of the puzzles not yet being completed, certain strokes made the word evident to her.

As each of them reached completion she would position the elements in order, confident in her deduction.

They had to do a puzzle? Shusuke’s fave dropped to disappointment rather quickly. He would stare at the pieces for a moment as he watched his classmates quickly assemble their parts of the puzzle with ease. He let out a sigh as Shishiwakamaru offered some assistance. ”Yea I know that!” He said defensively as he tried to hurry and put the pieces together.

A85EC8C3-B8D7-4D42-AE56-666E69FE2445.png

His piece said Lightning, which was fitting know his elemental affinity. He looked up and noticed that everyone else basically had their pieces done for a while now. He looked over at Haniki who was stating the five basic elements. ”What do you mean primal elements? There’s way more elements than that. Like I can use the Storm Release, or Ranton Style, and like it feels different than this.” He said as he lifted his piece that said Raiton.

The corner of Haniki’s mouth twitched your into a small smile. “There are plenty more chakra releases, but these are the base to all the others.” She explained. “Storm release is a combination of lightning and water. Wood is Earth and water being used together, and it goes on and on.” She of course didn’t know everything that went into advanced element, especially in practice, but several of her notebooks housed a chart displaying the different combinations of elements she had read about.

“Now, put that back,” she said with a small laugh, grabbing the piece back from him to fit with the others.

That usual smirk of his never left Daiji's face as he clicked the stopwatch again.

Perhaps he had made this first game too easy? Either that or the children were quicker than he expected. He wasn't too worried... after all a simple class was the least he could do after the last exercise he put his students through. He was still getting paper shuriken chucked at his head in class for that one.

As expected Shishi took to the game of wits the fastest assembling his piece with relative ease. "Shishiwakamaru... from this point on he'll keep growing." the sensei would think to himself, giving the Nara child a pat on the back as he finished. Haniki showcased her brainpower as well completing her part next as well as figuring out the purpose of the game along with it. Since she was the one he had the least interaction with it was a welcome surprise. "Very good, Haniki. That's exactly right." he would say before crossing his arms and allowing his gaze to fall to their final classmate. Shusuke seemed to have the most trouble with the puzzle only just managing to finish with some kind hints from his friends. "Not bad Shusuke." He was no fool. Impatient but not dumb. The trio had performed almost exactly to plan. The other two filler students finished their pieces, the kanji for 'Earth' being what looked to be a square base and the kanji for 'Water' being a fourth triangle. Now that the parts were assembled the group could clearly see hinges on each piece that would form a pyramid if joined. If they tried to snap them into place the parts would seem to fit almost perfectly... but would not stay. "Technically the game isn't finished until you piece them together." It was as if the parts needed one final thing to all connect with each other. Glue? Something else? They would have to try to find out. "See if you can figure it out as we move on." he would say, nodding with his head towards the second station. It was time for the next activity!

Station #2 said:

"Next up, target practice." the instructor would say leading the kids to a table stacked high with ninja weaponry. Shuriken, kunai, senbon... there was even a foldable Fūma Shuriken in there for good measure. Daiji sauntered over to the funny-looking scarecrow to stand next to it. "This is Wara-san." he would say his hand moving to clap it on the back. But just before his hand connected the scarecrow suddenly leaned forward causing him to miss and then hopped several feet away off to the side. Furrowing his brow the chūnin would raise a hand to scratch his head. "He's... a little wily it seems." Oh there were thoughts he was having. But he'd save that conversation for after class. A spark seemed to go off in his head and his smirk soon returned as he walked back over to the table and pushed it aside. "Change of plan, anything goes." he would say, placing his hands on his hips and looking to his students. "Land one hit and you win." Daiji's devilish smirk was turned towards Wara who seemed to be wiggling back and forth in panic. Odd didn't even begin to describe it but compared to last class this was relatively tame.

"Ready..." he would say, raising a hand in anticipation and then... "Go!" he would bring it down before taking a few steps back and watching the show. Would the students be able to best the agile scarecrow? Only one way to find out!

As they began to finish up the puzzle Daiji-Sensei said that they still needed to adhere them together, and while Shusuke did not have glue he did have a sticky substance on him, one he has yet to show his classmates. Reaching into his pouch he would pull out a small vial of Twilight Venom that had been dosed with his own personal recipe for Nightshade Extract. A family recipe of course. Tossing it casually to Haniki, "Here, this is sticky enough to cling onto my old blade that has perfectly smooth after each sharpening. I'm sure it can hold those puzzle pieces together. Just don't let any of it get into your body, it might kill you." With that her turned and looked over to Daiji-Sensei as they were about to start the second challenge.

His eyes would peer over to the Scarecrow that stood before him and the other students. I was quick, it seemed to understand that Daiji-Sensei was approaching it and it decided to move out of the way. Shusuke smirked. So it had good reflexes huh? Dropping to one knee the young boy would make a series of handseals before connecting his thumb and index finger and straightening out the other three. Raising this handseal to his mouth he would send out a pulse of telepathic energy towards Haniki and Shishiwakamaru. "Yamanaka Style: Third Eye Blind." Almost instantly, if the two accepted the audial connection they would hear Shusuke's voice in their own mind. "We can communicate telepathically. It's easier to share thoughts quickly than it is words. This thing seems to be away of it's surroundings. I hope y'all are ready!"

Shusuke would then place his thumbs together before tapping his index and middle fingers together as well. A square was made, a unique handseal that he doubts his classmates had ever seen before as it wasn't one many people had the luxury of seeing. A surge of chakra would form around Shusuke's hands as he extended his very soul through this window his hands had formed "Secret Technique: Mind Body Disturbance!" If connected the yamanaka child would quickly shift to a new handseal. "Secret Yamanaka Style: Third Eye Awakened." A series of Jutsus were performed by the young Yamanka showing off his prowess for mind manipulation. As Shusuke closed his eyes he would attempt to synch up with the scarecrow's senses. If the Genjutsu was a success, he would begin sharing images of the scarecrow's perspective with Shishiwakamaru and Haniki so they would know if they were in its line of sight or if it was aware of them. It wasn't often Shusuke played support, but he knew if they were to succeed, they needed to work together. Daiji-Sensei and Asuka-Sensei made it very clear that was his weakest trait as a Shinobi, so he knew he needed to do better.

Once he was certain the Genjutsu was set Shusuke would open his eyes and stand up. Almost as if forming from nothing a chain would begin to appear below his hand. A ring on his middle finger would house this chain and at the end of it a small hook would appear. A bead of sweat would drop from his brow as he was exerting multiple genjutsu onto multiple targets simultaneously. If he wasn't as smart as his team, he had to make it up other ways. "On your cue!" Shusuke would wait until signaled and he would follow the commands given to him by his team. When it was time to strike he would lash out with his illusory hook causing the chain to extend to crash into the target.

If they were successful, Shusuke knew this would hurt him, and depending on how hard his team was going to hit this scraecrow it may hurt him a lot, but this was information he wasn't going to tell his teammates. Daiji-Sensei, if he knew of the Yamanaka would probably be able to know the side effects after seeing the unique handseals that were strictly used by his clan's techniques. It was worth it though. They didn't need to have a prolonged fight, and he knew this would slow the target's movements some.

CRPJ's Effect: This allows the user to connect mentally with anyone within a close proximity, approximately half a kilometer. The recipient of this connection can feel Yamanka's extended use of Audial Genjutsu and the two may communicate telepathically by the use of hearing each other speak despite not being near one anoher, but the connection is easy to sever and requires no more effort than it does to blink to break the said connection. As the connected individuals move further away the delay in the message increases and the volume in which the message is heard is diminished until the limits are met and the connection is automatically severed.
Rank 2: Targets an opponent with Genjutsu DC. If successful, the Yamanaka's awareness enters the body of the target with the victim unaware of their presence. The target and user each have -2 Dodge. 40% of all damage done to the target is also inflicted on the user ignoring the user’s DR. At rank 2 the user is aware of everything the target is aware of (Including targets clones).
CRPJ's Effect: This allows the user to connect mentally with anyone within a close proximity, approximately a quarter kilometer, that is already connected through the Yamanaka Style: Third Eye Blind jutsu. The recipient of this connection can feel Yamanka's extended use of Visual Genjutsu and the two may communicate telepathically by allowing the other to see the mental images you produce within your own mind, but the connection is easy to sever and requires no more effort than it does to blink to break the said connection. As the connected individuals move further away the delay in the message increases and the clarity in which the image is seen mentally is diminished until the limits are met and the connection is automatically severed. With complete concentration the user of this jutsu can allow the connected individual to see through their eyes for a just a moment.

Trick Weapon (free a lot via Versatile Arms)
Augment 1 - Chakra Drain
Augment 2 - Spirit Link
A technique that quickly slices a target twice in a single strike, leaving an 'X' mark in blood if it hits.
Rank 1: The user strikes a single target at +2 Accuracy, dealing 490 damage.
Effect: The user gains +1 Accuracy and Dodge per ally present in battle, up to +2 Accuracy and Dodge.
Special Action - Coordinated Strike: Up to 3 allies may coordinate their attacks. These actions must all use the same AP, and are modded simultaneously with an average of their Accuracy +2. Coordinated strikes deal +15% damage.

Haniki caught the small vial, but upon hearing his commentary, promptly dropped it on the table wiping her hands on her shirt. "Why would you--" She cut herself off. There was no point in asking as there probably wasn't a reasonable answer. Opening a vial of potentially fatal venom was not the solution she favored, but if all else failed, she supposed she'd have to give it a try. Haniki put her palm atop the point of the pentagonal pyramid, funneling chakra as best she could into her hand. The puzzle centered around chakra and the different natures, so maybe the simplest form of chakra was the last piece to the puzzle. If this didn't work and she was thinking too far into it, the young girl would carefully give the venom a try, but she really didn't want to resort to it. A flash of electricity extended from her hand into the puzzle and dispersed outward. With a sharp inhale Haniki retracted her hand, surprised and a tad confused. She shook her hand back a forth, like trying to air dry freshly washed hands, before turning her attention to Daiji.

As she finished up with the puzzle and listened to Daiji's explanation of their second activity, Haniki felt a prodding sensation within her head. She allowed Shusuke's Third Eye Blind the access it requested. It was strange to hear the boys voice from an internal perspective rather than external stimuli. She shivered, bouncing her shoulders and turning her neck to the side quickly to get all the heebie jeebies out. "Understood." She replied through their link.

Their next task caught Haniki interest, immediately curious of the inner working of the scarecrow. This was one hell of a training dummy. How did it sense Daiji? How does it know which was to go? Does it have any source of critical thinking or interpretation, or does it move based on something like a sensor? She needed to know. Haniki relayed her first impression of the situation. "If it's going to hop out of the way, don't give it anywhere to go. Someone needs to hit 'em low from the back, high from the front and I can go from above. But everything has to be at the same time or it'll just slip through the cracks." Haniki snatched four standard kunai from the table now shoved to the side. She spun them all once, gripping the handles of two in each hand. "Y'all ready?" She would wait for a moment, allowing either of the boys to make any preparations they needed. She could see Shusuke already summoning a weapon she was unfamiliar with.

"Let's go." She prompted, stepping up onto the table after seeing everyone braced and ready to give it a shot.

From the table Haniki channeled chakra into her feet giving in to the sensation she felt before and proceeded to jump up and above their target, a minor ring of scorch marks being left behind. The feeling in her stomach as she now fell towards the ground was not easy to push past, but was definitely something she needed to get used to as a future shinobi. "Don't mind these," she warned as she threw the kunai [Volley], two for each side, right and left to impose an aura of threat in those directions. Her body rotated in the air, her fist rearing from behind as she positioned herself to strike their target from above. As chakra molded around her fist, sparks of electricity followed, growing with intensity as she neared the ground [Thunderfist]. It sparked through her arm and as her hair was jostled by falling winds, the strings of lightning almost appeared to extend out from her hair. Just before contact, whether that be with the scarecrow, the ground or an unfavorable counterstrike, white flashed over her amber eyes. The aura that followed her most definitely held the potential to stun her fellow teammates beyond her own control [Shocking Current].

As Haniki and Shusuke bickered about base elements, advanced elements, all this was foreign to the cunningly ignorant Nara. His father never bothered to teach him a thing, and he had yet to have a class on ninjutsu, or these elements these two were droning on about. In the background Shishi was already assaulting a notebook with a barrage of notes that he was taking from his classmates. Near the bottom of the notes he had jotted down he added a quick scribble that was less 'information/data' and more of a personal reminder which read; 'Speak to Haniki about a private tutor, she seems much more learned than Shusuke. Although Shusuke seems to have a more natural edge and has a 'street smart' atmosphere about himself. Two sides of the same coin perhaps?' He felt he could write what he truly felt or thought in here. After all, who would ever read these aside from himself?

Fast forward and Shusuke is tossing Haniki a 'sticky' substance that would, if he heard correctly, kill her?! Shishiwakamaru's eyes would double in size, apprehension to match. "Wait, is that poison? Who gives you these things?!" We're not in Kansas anymore, Shishi, this be friggin ninja land, hold on to your butts and buckle up. Who in their right mind gives kids deadly toxins??? Looking nervously towards Haniki he would interject; "Surely we can try something less... um... I dunno, deadly? We can call this plan... F." Slowly reaching down Shishi would lightly pick the vial up and place it into a zip-lock baggy that previously held some carrot sticks he was munching on earlier. How convenient! Looking back to the puzzle in question that needed adhering, he tried to figure out how exactly it was meant to create a cohesive creation. There were more questions needed to be asked, like why did it need to be assembled, and how long did it need to stay connected/combined.

Haniki, however, was already hard at work attempting to decipher the remainder of this puzzle. As if it were barely any effort on her part she easily constructed the pieces together to form a pyramid of sorts with the pieces with the kanji scribed upon their surfaces. Suddenly a small bold of energy lept from Haniki's hand that made contact with the construct. Curiousity overtook the eager beaver Nara as he kneeled down beside Haniki and the pyramid. Cautiously poking and pushing the various wedges like one of those bop-it games for kids seeing if he could replicate what he just saw. "How did you do that, Haniki?"

He didn't have a lot of time to continue this line of thinking as the class had already moved well past that and were plotting to advance upon an bizarre creature, if you could call it that. Shishi had his reservations about attacking a living thing, if that's what this even was. Raising his hand tried to ask a question; "This thing isn't --" He was cut off as Shusuke immediately went into bonus stage mode and linked them all up via some outrageously marvelous Yamanaka technique. He wasn't even mad, that's amazing. He was, however, going to ask if it was alive. The concept of purposefully harming a living thing as their 'training' seemed outlandish to the young Nara.

All this aside, let's get back on track here. Where is Shusuke pulling this next level shit from? I mean, telepathy is for comics and cartoons, right? Not for the Yamanaka clan!!! '''Wait... are we in your head, or are you in both of ours, or are in we each other's all at once. How are we not experiencing some sort of microphone thought feedback from being connected to each other's minds. Or are we, the simple humans we are, never using the full potential of our minds and our brain is automatically compensating for that sort of complication. But if that's the case then that would imply that our minds were already designed to handle or emanate thoughts...''' Both Shusuke and Haniki would abruptly be barraged by a plethora of thinky thoughts belonging to their otherwise coy and placid classmate, Shishiwakamaru! Having been so overtook by the entire notion of telepathy he had completely missed the 'plan' to coordinate anything.

But the serious nature of Haniki's face scouring the moving 'target' before them. Her amber eyes attempting to dissect the anomaly meant to be their pincushion. He could sense that she held similar questions in mind as he did about the being. Immediately gaining validation towards that thought Haniki broadcasted a plan, a line of attack. But coordination was something of an achilles heel for him. He didn't have this upbringing in the shinobi world like everyone else. He was behind the curve in all of this, despite his few victories, if you could call them that. Already he was beginning to cast doubt upon his own abilities. Again a slurry of sullin ramblings exuded from the insecure Nara. Suddenly realizing that they were connected still a look of shame overtook Shishiwakamaru. His own diffidence stuck out like a sore thumb, he was truly embarrassed in this moment. The thought of being judged by those he held close to his heart scared the living shit out of him. He was more insecure than he led on, he was never confident in his abilities and just guessed his way through it all.

one-punch-man-ok.gif
Thankfully his teammates were on the ball, and perhaps didn't hear any of that. Maybe Shusuke's abilities were not grand and complex enough to extend emotions n such over telepathy, or maybe it just didn't work that way at all. More things he muttered aloud in his mind as he tried to wrap his mind around the complexities associated with the notion of speaking with one's mind. Anyway, matching the vibes Shusuke was putting out, Haniki did a overly convoluted aerial assault. While Shishi over here like 'am I the only normal/non-shonen dude here today?'

Shishiwakamaru was not the main character by any means, he wasn't a mind dabbling genjutsu stud like Shusuke, and he had maybe a fifth of the intelligence Haniki could brandish. But there was one thing he could write home about, have hope Shishi fans! Numbers never lied, so let's just do some simple math. To be honest, he had no friggin idea if that thing could even be effected by genjutsu, usually you needed, um, I dunno, a mind or something? The thing kinda creeped him out to be honest, he was not in the market for making physical contact with this.... scarecrow.

He had been practicing for a bit, and was brushing up on a few poisons thanks to a special book written by... someone special. While it seemingly seemed like nothing more than a complicated puppetry book, each page deeper into the incredible recesses of knowledge gave tips and tricks of the trade. Still, most of it was way over his comprehension level, if he studied hard and learned everything he could, perhaps someday he could master the pages within his goldmine of insight and knowledge. And so, using what little his noggin had to offer, he triggered the chain of events that would be station #2...

"Alright, let's do this!" His fanboy antics suddenly being set aside in favor of a 'let's get dangerous' vibe, Shishiwakamaru rapidly unreeled a scroll, a shrill zipping sound resounded outwards due to the extreme speed Shishi exhibited (Initiative + Quickdraw). While it was true he was no prodigy like Shusuke, or a genius wiz-kid like Haniki, but what he did have was sheer effort. What free time he had, he spent poring over this book, trying to absorb the very essence of the author. The book was so detailed, so in-depth, so... Yes, you're quiet right, enough about the book. Ahem, where were we... Ah yes.

Fast_Puppet.jpg
Perhaps Daiji-sensei would be the only one keen enough to see his deft movements, but Shishi had unstopped the vial of viscous, drawing it across his scroll as he summoned his puppet weapon. A small, ebony-clad construct whizzed towards the scarecrow with great speed, a strange toxin already applied to its body. (Nara-Strategist + Initiative to attack at 0 seconds) While the move itself was fairly elementary, at least in terms to what his book had to offer, it would serve it's purpose perfectly as the tiny 'thing' performed a crafty little spin. The purpose behind the spin was simply to make it difficult for the Scarecrow to determine which appendage the puppet would attack with. What's more, two of the little limbs came clean off in the spinning, but were attached by ninja wire that shot out and tried to entangle the scarecrow to ensure his friend's own attacks. (E-rank puppet tai - Swift Spin paired with Wired Augment). All this together, plus whatever the heck Shusuke's special poison was going to do, surely they stood a fair chance at taking this thing down.

As the sparks began to literally fly the instructor took a few steps back and folded his arms, observing his students intently with a smirk on his face.

Shusuke ever true to form was the first into the fray. First forming a hand seal and seemingly casting something on his teammates, which made Daiji wonder if it had been that same telepathy jutsu he used once on him in the Hokage's Office. Whatever it was it seemed that they were at least coordinating. This was the first time he'd witnessed the Yamanaka even attempt a team effort. "Good, he's learning." he thought to himself. Next the boy formed what looked to be an entirely unique handseal and aim it at Wara-san. "Hiden?" he pondered, watching carefully. Knowing his student's knack for Genjutsu he had a feeling what was about to happen. And boy was the blonde youth about to be in for a surprise...

nF4TCuM.jpg

Upon synching of his senses with the scarecrow Shusuke would notice the straw man recoil slightly. Surely melding of two minds being an uncomfortable experience. Almost immediately he would note Wara-san's vision being awash in a world of bright color. Everything seemed hyper-detailed and oversaturated, and this out of body experience would only compound once the scarecrow set his sights on the Yamanaka's limp form. Without movement and seemingly without effort Shusuke's sight would begin to darken quickly growing pitch black... until only two ominous red eyes remained. Beacons in the darkness. Gazing into his very being (Verse of Darkness + Hypnotic Gaze). It seemed as if he was doing his best to set up a team attack and this sudden dulling of his vision would only make it that much harder. "What will our prodigy do now?" Daiji mused to himself as he pushed his shades up. Things were getting interesting.

Haniki was up next and the kunoichi-in-training was already impressing with her intellect and cool head. It was time to see how she would fare in a fight. After drawing several kunai and leaping into the air she rained down the projectiles on either side of Wara-san to cut off his movement. "Nice thinking." the ongoing inner commentary continued. Electricity cackled around her airborne form coming to a focal point around her fist and this only barely missed the straw man's hat as he quickly backpedaled away at the last second. As her hand made contact with the ground sparks surged throughout the surrounding earth, no doubt electrifying some nearby objects and causing her sensei's hair to frizz up slightly. "Shocking." he chuckled to himself. At least someone was amused.

And then was their Nara strategist who had quickly repurposed a vial of Shusuke's own special poison to use in conjunction with his equipment. Daiji watched with an arched eyebrow as the boy speedily unfurled a scroll applied the liquid and summoned forth what looked to be some sort of mechanical creature to do his bidding. "Interesting..." Wara-san barely had time to react as the puppet came whirling towards him launching its own limbs in an attempt to ensnare the wily scarecrow. As the poison limbs circled his form and were pulled taut the boy's Yamanaka teammate sent a hook-tipped chain splicing through the air to sink into its chest. With his impaired vision this would've been a hard feat by itself by since Shishiwakamaru held him in place this helped with his aim. Wara-san was knocked off of his feet, backwards and then...

...poof!

A cloud of smoke exploded around the straw man. When it cleared only its kimono remained in its place, torn clean through by Shusuke's hook (Body Switch) The scarecrow stood a few feet away, now naked and jumping up and down in what appeared to be a panic. "Close! Not half-bad coordination either." their sensei spoke as he leaned back against the table. "Give it one more shot." For the moment it seemed as if Wara-san was just evading. Good thing too. Aside from apparently hiding powerful dōjutsu this wily straw warrior had plenty of other tricks up its sleeve. It was time to see if the kids had what it took. Round two was on!

Haniki could feel the dry texture of the straw hat just barely graze her fist as she crashed into the ground beneath. A plume of smoke erupted, stings of lightning giving it the aesthetic of a dirty storm cloud. At it's center, Haniki was crouched, stunned for a moment as she hazily watched the lightning that lingered. Had all that really come from her? Even if it did, it looked like it was all for show. Frustration rose in the young girl, but she managed it with a deep breath before the cloud dissipated. Her vision cleared just in time to witness her teammates supposedly restrain their target, only to be replaced by one of the simplest of jutsu, body substitution.

"Well, it can use ninjutsu." She stated factually. "So it's not just some contraption designed to dodge." Ninjutsu required chakra, and chakra was essentially a raw form of life force. With that she could at least conclude that this thing was alive in some way and not just a cool engineering project. "Let's find out who's hiding in there."

Before taking action on her shared thought, Haniki would first look to Shusuke and Shishiwakamaru. While the scarecrow appeared to be purely on the defensive, Haniki had learned that all is not always as it seems especially in this chaotic world they lived in. "Are we all good here?" She questioned, holding her hands out in a simple thumbs up towards each of them, alternating the direction her thumb pointed back and forth.

Shusuke’s eyes would sullen as the world around him faded from view. All he could see were those two goddam Sharigan. ”You no good, piece of shit, poser, wannabe Genjutsu using, half assed, entitled Uchiha trash!” The young boy shifted his posture and called out to his team telepathically. ”Its using Genjutsu and has the Sharingan. I don’t think it’s just a puppet anymore. I am going to try and overwhelm him like a true Genjutsu Master.” As this transmission sent out to his allies a familiar sensation would cover the mind of Shishiwakamaru. Shusuke raised a single hand with a half seal and the other half remained in front of his chest. "Yamanaka Style: Phantosmia." (physical style so I gain +1 per genjutsu stacked on the target, cap 5) As the ripple of air pulsed from the boy a sweet smell would fill the nose of everyone around. This secret technique took the affected target's favourite floral scent and used it against them all the while solidifying the connection the young Yamanaka had on his target. His pupilless eyes would seemingly glow as his mind would instictively send out an Illusory Cantrip, sending out a Mind Crushed: Sensory Knowledge Locked: Blur technique. "It would be a goddam shame if those eyes of yours would simply rot." At this point the boy closed his eyes and simply looked through his target's senses to know where he was as he pushed his Sensory Knowledge Mental Focus to it's limit. "Ninja Art: Occular Trauma!" A surge of illusory chakra was sent out in an attempt to rupture the veins in the eyes of this Sharigan.

As the chakra was sent out the boy grinned slightly as multiple chains began to float around him. seemingly coming out of nowhere. These spectral chains all ended in a palm size hook. "I am ready to finish this. Let's go!" As he spoke he lunged forward with his eyes still closed, after all he was blinded anyways. Darting around as a surge of electricity began to cover his body the young Yamanaka was moving like a well oiled machine. Flipping through the air and almost vanishing instantly he would reapear behind the scarecrow. "Hydra Strike!" And as he spoke the chains that were under his control would shift and move like a serpent. Moving like a hurricane the boy's blows were precise and sharp. Slamming the hooks down into the current location of the scarecrow the position where he was standing was now vacant as he seemingly teleported into the air. "More!" Shusuke clapped his hands together as three more of these hooked chains ripped through the air and went plummeting wherever the scarecrow most likely moved to.

His face was becoming more and more angry as he started to chuckle slightly. Daiji, with his experienced world view, could see the drippings of toxic Twilight Venom with his Nightshade Extract imbued splattering across the training field. Much like an anime the illusionist was swinging his arms aggressively as his chains would whip like constant surges of electricity towards the enemy. His eyes remained shut as he continued to try and look through the scarecrow's vision. He kept moving his body to be in its line of sight before slamming his chains towards the source of his secondary awareness. Opening his eyes the new speed and agility wasn't the only change that the boy had gone through. His eyes shifted into one that pushed what was to be expected from a Yamanaka. Crimson Red Much like a Sharingan but without the legendary tomoe.

Shaded eyes continued to watch the students with interest as they attacked.

Haniki seemed flustered which was only natural. Her attack just barely missed its mark even scorching some loose bits of straw because of its closeness, and from the expression on her face the chūnin wagered that this was the first time these abilities of hers had surfaced. She certainly understood the fundamentals of Ninjutsu well enough and it seemed as if her own chakra was developing nicely. "Nature Transformation is pretty advanced for a student... this new generation is something else." Imbuing jutsu with an element required more quantity of the substance and more skill at molding chakra to use, usually too much so for normal Academy Students. The only clear exception he could think of was the Uchiha Clan who taught their members at a young age how to harness the Fire Release they were all blessed with. With these students he was beginning to witness more and more of this new generation's talent firsthand. Impressive was an understatement. "Scary." At this rate these youngsters were on track to surpass him one day. It was his job to make sure that happened. And that they lived long enough to truly come into their own.

The Yamanaka prodigy on the other hand seemed to be going through something. Having probed the mind of this scarecrow that seemingly possessed the Sharingan he found himself overcome by an unnatural darkness and standing face-to-face with those famed red eyes. Apparently Shusuke did not like this at all. He harbored a deep hatred of Uchiha one that he was unaware of up until this point. But... Daiji couldn't exactly judge. Blood feuds between clans was something he and his family were all too familiar with. And the Uchiha weren't the only clan who had made enemies within the Leaf. "Just don't become lost to it, kid." In a flash the boy weaved together multiple illusions like he had seen him do before. But these seemed more potent, more real though that didn't make sense. Genjutsu was not Daiji's strong suit and as perceptive as he was he couldn't quite deduce what was happening... but he just so happened to have a friend who was more knowledgeable on the subject. Maybe he could shed some light on this development later.

Faced with this mental onslaught the straw man was seemingly thrown off-kilter. He wobbled as his vision blurred and it was in this moment where a golden opportunity arose. Shusuke summoned ghostly chains from what looked to be out of nowhere and began to zip around the field, sparks flying from his form much like Haniki before him. Like a mighty gale the weapons clinked as they spun, tearing up the ground around him as he wildly struck in every direction. Daiji gestured to some of the onlooking students to move back so they would be out of harm's way. It was in this wild attack that one of the chains tore into the scarecrows shoulder sending some straw flying as Wara-san jumped out of the way in order to not be eviscerated. "Hit!" the chunin would say, throwing his hands up as he moved towards his students. In an instant the illusory darkness plaguing Shusuke would be released. "You win."

As he approached he would place a hand on the scarecrow's undamaged shoulder. "Now let's all say 'thank you Wara-san'." he would instruct, looking to each of the students with a wry look on his face as he did. Though the viscous liquid dripping from Shusuke's weapon did catch his eye and raise an eyebrow just slightly. There was something to be said for holding back though admittedly he wasn't the best in this area either. And it was his fault anyways. He did tell them that 'anything goes'. He really did have to rethink his teaching style...

Station #3 said:

A curtained booth stand in the middle of the academy's yard. Upon entering the students find themselves faced with a single piece of paper that sits atop a podium. On it is scribed only a single question. In the margins is a note scrawled in Daiji-sensei's bad handwriting that reads: ' No wrong answer
QXAYVK3.png
'

Question: What does the character 忍 (shinobi) mean to you?

A.) Blade
B.) Spy
C.) Endure
D.) Conceal

"Last up is real simple." he would say as he moved on to the next station and gestured towards the booth. "Enter and answer." As he waited he would lean up against a nearby table and retrieve his risqué scroll from earlier as he began to unfurl it. Taking extra care to keep its contents away from any prying eyes. However long this was gonna take he might as well get some light reading in. Or was it observation? Either way. "And remember kids this is Field Day so... no tests or anything like that." he would say, his attention seemingly focused solely on the parchment before him. Wara-san had hopped over to stand near him as well but seemed more focused on staying upright. What would the students choose for their final station? He was curious to find out.

The aura surrounding her classmate shifted entirely. They were most definitely not all good as Shusuke put everything he had into attacking the prop in front of them with malicious intent. As he moved, Haniki dropped the tension in her shoulders as well as their objective in general. The smell of sweet peas filled her nose, but the girl didn't pay too much attention to the pleasant reminder of early childhood. Haniki walked her way around Shusuke's back in an arc as he preformed numerous genjutsu and threw his arms out with illusory weapons following the motion. Getting hit with those did not sound like a good time. It was a marvel to watch considering they hadn't been exposed to much combat given their age. "Hey." She said rather monotonous. "Calm down." She hoped that this simply would snap him out of whatever issues he had with the Uchiha that ticked him off so bad. Despite her hopes, she also knew she was approaching a fellow ninja by surprise, which could very well be met with retaliation.

As the scene continued to unfold before him, Shi couldn't help but become distracted by this strange feeling in the back of his mind. Something foreboding, silently roaring to life, the young boy helpless to do anything but watch in horror. It started out small, a slight tick in his right hand. Quickly turning into what felt like he was vibrating in place his vision blurred as he tried to get some depth perception into his life. But to no avail, his arms seemed to triple before his eyes, but what felt like a singular experience was actually witnessed by all those around him. It was truly as if his body was attempting to un-fuse from itself and split apart. Grimacing in pain Shi clutched his head and screamed before everything faded to black around him, leaving him in utter darkness, the silence essentially deafening...
