Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Quite some time had passed since Shinzo had first vanished with no sign of returning yet. Lazy, frustrated and even somewhat bored Juko crossed the arena once more. Once you had the time to actually look and not dodge attacks all the time it really felt small. A couple of bushes, grouped together to create the illusion of a thick underthicket, trees that seemed to rise above the other green like leaders looking out for the enemy, a few small ponds, barely the size of a larger puddle in Juko's eyes and some cliffs. Those were the "points of interest" in this arena, and by now Juko felt as if he knew them all by heart. The people that were seated all around them seemed to have quieted down after their last showdown and were now merely watching the young blonde boy walk around in circles. Under his breath Juko was cursing his opponent for showing such a lame side to the audience. I KNOW he has more interesting abilities than that... and yet, hes not using them... instead hes hiding like a little cockroach, i bet the Aburame would love to keep him as a pet! His mood was growing darker by the minute to the point where he decided to taunt Shinzo even more than that.
He returned to the middle of the arena, where he raised his arms to his face and formed an improvised megaphone. SO!, TIME FOR A LITTLE BREAK IT SEEMS! I HOPE YOU GUYS LIKE ALL THE FIGHTS SO FAR! IM SORRY FOR BEING ALL ALONE UP HERE, IT SEEMS MY OPPONENT IS SOMEWHAT AFRAID OF FIGHTING ME! Then, he simply sat down in the middle and pushed his hands against his ribs. The left side seemed merely bruised but the right side, that one hurt a lot more in comparison and as his fingers touched the slightly blueish mark where Shinzo's punches had hit him he felt as if some of his ribs had been pushed together in a very unhealthy form. Ughh.... no wonder this hurts, good thing he didnt follow up with anything...
Sitting down in between the trampeled grass he tried to push the ribs apart which ended up with him gasping and catching for air as the pain bloomed once more in his torso.
Yep... ...thats not gonna work that way...
He took a moment to blink and glance at his surroundings but it seemed his caution was wasted on Shinzo. No ambush or sudden strike from the shadows followed and so Juko decided to risk it. Closing his eyes, first only halfway then about three quarters and finally fully he started breathing in deeply and relaxing his muscles. After a few moments of silence he breathed in especially deep and carefully prodded his ribs with his fingers. The pain lanced through his side but was far more shortlived and with a quick push he managed to separate the ribs from each other. He exhaled sharply and bit onto his lips but the fain quickly faded.
And still no sign of Shinzo...
Slowly he rose to his full stance again.
Cracked his neck once carefully and took another impatient look around.
The wind was shaking the trees and made the bushes shiver as if they were animals, scared by an unseen predator.
With an almost neglecting motion Juko turned to a random side and kicked against the lower branches of a particular thick brush.
To his surprise his utterly unintended attack revealed a crouching Shinzo, with his hands wrapped in what seemed to be medical bandages that glowed in a soft green.
Eyes met eyes and for a moment even the wind held its breath in suspense.

The frustration grew within Shinzo as his hands moved to unravel the wires that STILL made themselves at home in a painful web upon his hands. He sighed, pulling them apart slightly further than before, any real shinobi would have been able to deal with it by now but for some reason the universe seemed to be against him at this point. He sighed once more, and began to unsheathe his butterfly swords just slightly from their holster, soon the young boy placed his bindings against part of the blade and began to grind it on the sharp metal. With a light ping, the wires that had held his hands captive flew off, freeing the boy but also flying into the brush around him. At this point he knew that his cover would be blown without question, carelessly removing the wires like that had not been his plan but really it was something he had no choice about now.

The last he checked, Juko had been giving some speech to the crowd. Impatience seemed to run in his blood too, but still Shinzo had taken the time he needed to ready himself for what was to come next and soon enough he knew Juko would be eating his words. The pouch on his belt unhooked to reveal a broad range of supplies that would be essential to him, a medical kit was fished out from within and soon a mass of bandages were to launch from within that. It didn’t take the boy long to begin wrapping the bandages around his hands and wrists, the more support he could get for his hands would allow for more control over his actions and incur minimal pain. He could hear Juko coming closer and soon enough the leaves that separated him from his opponent were thrown to one side as his blind attack found a mark. For a second their eyes did indeed meet, to which the younger of the pair gave his opponent a toothy grin followed by a slight chuckle, though this did not last too long. Instinctively, Shinzo leapt from his perch, a smile upon his face. While in the air, he slid two small wooden supports between the bandages. ‘That should be enough.’

He landed quite calmly on the ground, eyes fixed on his target. “Did you miss me? I mean mentally, we know you've missed my physically... plenty of times.” He asked cheekily. “You know I had been counting the time it was taking you to find me, I mean I didn’t think it was an especially good hiding spot, but I guess it was enough of a challenge for you. Did you manage to catch a few winks, I mean I could have slept for an age up there.” Once more he lowered his stance and bowed his head towards his opponent. “From what I can gather you are getting a little bored, I’m sorry, I just wanted the crowd to be able to take one last look at you before I rearrange your face!” The fire in his green eyes grew, it was extremely apparent that Shinzo was more than ready to end this. His expression was one of entertainment, though this was to disguise his utter frustration at how long it had taken him to deal with the wires.

“If you want to give them a show,” he gestured with his arms open to the crowd, “then we will give them a show!” Having said this he extended one finger to point towards Juko and then turned his palm to the sky and curled his finger towards himself. “Come on then.”

Grinning Juko listend to his opponents attempt at provocation. Wow, you took so much time to think about what to say to me and THIS is what you come up with? Please, if this werent an official fight with several people watching us i wouldnt even bother responding to that. I mean, seriously, "not a good hiding spot" ? I get it, your what....7 years old? Its normal for kids your age to play hide and seek but cant you do that once your back home with momma? The painful sting of jealousy bit into his heart when he thought about Shinzo having some good old quality time with his family. I bet hes a really spoiled brat, he seems like he was just born fast and didnt even learn anything else but running around and hiding... His eyes once more scanned the audience, wondering whether Shinzo's parents where somewhere up there watching the two, doubtlessly cheering for the guy. He didnt want to admit to himself that he was also looking for his own parents, the emotionless gaze of spectacled faces amids the mass of already faceless people.
Get yourself together Juko, theyre not watching.
Looking back to Shinzo the boy seemed to loose some of his tension. Family was one thing, a strenuous and nervewrecking thing, and fighting was another thing, easy on the soul and freeing in its wild nature. He wondered whether that thought was actually his own or a quote he had read somewhere.
In the moment that Shinzo returned to his usual stance, Juko dropped his own. Scythe-kicking towards the other boys legs he closed the gap between the two boys before releasing the seal he had been holding up for the past few moments. Several fiery blasts left the hidden location behind Shinzo, raining down on the ground before Juko. Most of them missed Shinzo, not a real surprise at this point anymore, only one of the explosions was somewhat close enough to his opponent to actually cause any harm. As he watched his foe vanish in the smoke and dust Juko put up his arms again to prepare for the surely coming counter. His preparation payed off when out of the dense cloud of debris came a kick towards his private parts, aimed with the precision of a sharpshooter. Oh no, you dirty...!
Leaving the safety of his guard behind Juko grabbed the foot at the heel and used his power to throw the foot upwards in an attempt to disbalance Shinzo. However, to his surprise that didnt seem to stop the attack, and merely gave his opponent a more than unnecessary speed-boost. From withhin the veiled smokescreen came forth a a bladed weapon, looking like a spear until the dust stopped clinging to it. A Hand!
The blonde boy barely managed to twist his body to minimize damage as the hand slammed into his shoulder, whirling him around and back towards the greener area at the borders of the arena.
Argh!
The force of the blow pushed Juko back towards a small cliff where he furiously started to form fingerseals.
Ill get ya back for that one, Shinzo! Dont worry, ill AGHH! He started up when a bottle hit the ground next to him, breaking into many pieces. Good call, stranger in the audience. That wouldve been a mistake. I guess ill have to do this differently after all...
Instead of continuing his jutsu, Juko took a deep breath and contained his emotions.

“Hey! I’m not seven! I’m eight and a half!” The younger of the two shouted out with gusto upon hearing his opponent. “Why do you talk so much anyway, it must be so loud in your house?” At this point he hadn’t got any good enough comebacks in mind. The eight and a half year old took a moment to glance over his shoulder, he could see his parents painting stall but at that moment they didn’t seem to be there, he sighed. Though as he moved to look back to Juko he caught a glance of his younger brother clinging to the railings while being flanked by an old lady, that was all he cared about, it brought a slight smile to his face. In his mind this was no longer about proving anything to himself or the others watching, no, now it was about making his brother proud.

In no time at all, he was faced with a scythe kick aimed for his legs… of all places! This Juko is definitely a persistent one. There was no moment to pause after Shinzo nimbly hopped over the oncoming kick only to then be faced by a barrage of fire and explosions that dotted the space around him. They were indeed too close for comfort and as Shinzo ducked and weaved between them, throwing the odd gymnastic manoeuvres in to add flavour to the array of dodges. One explosion, however, detonated just behind the boys back, thrusting him forward slightly but at this point it didn’t seem to have done any major damage to him.

Dust flew up around him as the flames dispersed, the current of air generated by the heat of the moment whipped up the first from the now charred ground. Things weren’t exactly going to plan for the younger of the two combatants but he didn’t have time to waste an opportunity. His right foot lead the charge of wonder, a small torrent of wind grew being it as Shinzo moved to make a quick but decisive strike towards his opponent’s most valuable possessions. Though as if out of nowhere, Juko was able to simply catch his foot as if it were nothing, something didn’t feel right, Shinzo knew that he was on target and he only knew of himself and a few students with dojutsu that were able to react like that. Could his leg have been pushed or pulled into Juko’s hand? No way, that was impossible…

Thankfully though, Juko was as helpful as ever by giving Shinzo the little boost of speed to change his angle of attack. Once more, a mixture of dust and smoke engulfed the small boy, though this cover did provide for an excellent means to attack. The Seikon gifted child opened his hand, holding his fingers together and aimed to chop directly into the centre mass of Juko but as the strike came in, his opponent was able to move slightly and lessen the impact, though it was still a hit and hopefully it did do some damage.

Shinzo kept close to Juko this time, not wanting to appear unconfident by creating more distance between the pair. Though he did take a step back to avoid the bottle that came ever so close to hitting him in the ankle.

The bottle exploded with a sharp pang, sending both Shinzo and Juko a few steps backwards, Shinzo in caution, Juko in confusion. Those few moments were the only that the young boy was getting in terms of time to think of his next moves as Shinzo almost immediately followed his position, bombarding him with just as many attacks as Juko had before released in fireballs. This left Juko with no other option than to dodge in the most awkward of ways, channeling his inner energy into his moves he ducked the first strike that had been aiming at his head. The second kick was now coming straight at him and didnt leave him much chance but to press himself off of the ground and absorb the pressure into a backward jump making Shinzo fail his third attack as well. Phew, what a close call, seems like i managed to rile him up just a bit, eh?
The boy grinned to himself as he rushed backwards, forming the most familiar fingersigns of his. Flaming orbs of destruction rained down on Shinzo the very moment after, albeit most struck the ground instead of their intended target. Blazing fields of fire were now scattered throughout the arena, transforming it into a blackened imitation. By now most of the grass had been singed off and bushes and trees were little more than smoldering columns. Sooner or later youll have to yield, Shinzo! You cant keep on dodging my attacks all day long! It soon turned out he could, atleast for the moment, dodge his attacks as only two of the five missiles hit Shinzo.
Laughing Juko noticed to late that his opponent had apparently dropped his defensive attitude for good and was now coming straight at him. The first kick hit the laughing boy painfully hard and send his head backwards. For a few seconds Juko felt as if the entire world had started dancing around him, trees flashing on each site and direction and the sky seemingly swimming beneath him for at a time. By pure instinct he forced himself to face the attacker once more. Hrnnggg!! His bones creaked as he compelled himnself to catch Shinzo's attacks and counter them.

Shards of glass flew only a few centimetres from Shinzo’s legs. His lower limbs carried the momentum of the quick glass dodge and soon flew up into the air, only one foot would touch the floor at a time as Shinzo began a barrage of kicks aimed for his opponent. His small frame twirled on the spot, lead by kick after kick aimed for his opponent, though this strategy seemed to be working less effectively than the boy had anticipated. Juko seemed to be able to avoid every single strike, Shinzo watched as his rival’s golden mane whipped away from his kicks at the last moment every time. “Have I inspired your fighting style now?!” Shinzo called out with a slight chuckle. “I feel like we’ve swapped places.” For some reason the younger of the pair appeared jolly, in all honesty he was slightly frustrated but for one brief moment his mind drifted from the competition at hand, he felt relaxed fighting this familiar shinobi this went to the extent that he thought of him as a friend. “That bottle was closer to hitting us both than we are to hitting each other.” He strode backwards slightly to make sure that there was suitable room between the pair, should Juko decide to counter attack.

‘Snap out of it. He thought to himself, ‘This is not just a game, you have something to prove by being here Shinzo.’ In this moment he had closed his eyes to refocus, only to open them to a sight that was unfortunately not surprising. Once more Shinzo began to throw himself from one side to the other as balls of flame rained down upon him. Thankfully he was able to dodge the first one, giving him a false sense of security which was skilfully exploited by Juko as one of the other fire balls exploded upon impact with Shinzo’s left side. His arms and clothing were now charred but there was nothing that could be done about that as there were still even more flames to deal with. Shinzo spun to one side, his wind chakra guiding him out of the way of one fire ball… and straight into the path of another. He took the blow with arms crossed over his face though was still forced backwards but thankfully this pushed him out of the path of the final fireball.

A small cloud of dust engulfed Shinzo’s feet as he skidded to a stop on the charred ground. He peered over towards Juko who was now laughing. “I don’t know what you mean by yield but I can tell you that I’m not giving up any time soon!” There was a pause for only a single second, in this time the dust at Shinzo’s feet cleared and soon he was leading strikes with them once more. This time he dove onto his hands, focusing this momentum into his feet, one of which planted itself on Juko’s chin. Shinzo watched as his opponent took the blow like a champ, but a champ who had just been kicked in the face. To Shinzo’s shock, Juko was back up quickly, catching the next two attacks in quick succession. Thankfully for the younger student, he was able to regain control of his limbs rather quickly. His composure was off for a brief moment as he drew back into his stance, one arm was still stretched out towards Juko. ‘He seems to be on top of my taijutsu, maybe it’s time to switch things up a bit.’

Shinzo began to draw upon the churning energy that resided within him. It’s reality warping properties flowed erratically within the young boy’s chakra system, Shinzo had spent years of his life unable to understand that which was gifted to him and those of his clan. Intense training had provided a gateway to knowledge of how this energy works and now seemed to be the time to harness it. A hard hitting blow needed to be dealt if Shinzo was to demonstrate his abilities and to gain attention from the spectators. ‘I can’t just let this fight go on. I need to move faster.'

The lids of his eyes closed together as the young boy began to increase his focus dramatically. The energy of the Seikon began to draw to his centre, pooling in a spiral of distortion that gradually became easier to control. He took another deep breath in while drawing his palms into his chest, as he held the air in his lungs a bead of sweat formed upon his brow. Slowly, the energy within him moved from his centre, it channelled up to his chest before separating into two individual streams of energy that wound their way to his shoulders. A pair of pools formed under each shoulder as the main one was drained, slowly but surely they branched out down his arms, winding their ways around he chakra channels that laced the interior of his limbs. The green eyes of the young boy opened to see Juko looking surprisingly fresh. It was as if the boy had just shrugged off his last attack. Could there be something to this? Was there time to allow ones self to reach a level of calmness that would just minimise injuries? What sort of willpower did Juko have? There was little time to focus on that thought because now the energy had reached his wrists.

Shinzo paused, brought his arms forwards, and took a decisive step forwards to launch a wave of reality distortion towards his opponent. The wave was wide and taller than Shinzo, it hurtled towards Juko at an alarming rate. Shinzo watched on with joy as it seemed to be about to engulf his opponent, but then this joy turned to frustration as his opponent swiftly dodged it. For a second it looked like Juko had manipulated the wave himself while mid-dodge. But surely that was impossible. ‘What is he doing? Does he have more tricks up his sleeve?’

In a flash, Shinzo had pushed himself backwards to put some more space between his opponent. His eyes remained open but for a moment the boy seemed to relax while waiting for his opponent’s next move. “I’m enjoying this.” He called out with a cheerful smile. “I think I’m learning a lot from how you fight!”

As Juko was watching his opponent something rather weird happened. First it was nothing more than a tingling sensation in Juko's body quickly spreading through his appendages until it settled somewhere in the back of his head. What in the... but... i am not... He knew that feeling. He had felt it multiple times before and even in this fight it had already appeared several times but never quite so intense. That is, never so intense but when i use my... my energy! But what is going on here, i am not using it this time! His eyes jumped from corned to corner in this circular arena, trying to find the cause of the weird feeling until his sight finally settled on Shinzo.
Noooo. Reallly? His voice was dripping with disbelief and his eyes couldnt get any bigger than at this very moment. No. Frikkin. Way! How in the... HOW are you DOING that!? You cant just... just do that! Disbelief changed into disdain when he realized how Shinzo was able to dodge all of his attacks up until now. So THATS his secret then, huh? The same energy haha, as simple as that! He laughed a short laugh full of lack of amusement.
Well, haha, apparently you can. I wonder if everyone can. Still, what Shinzo was doing now was new to Juko. In fact, he had never even thought about doing it this way. At the same time as his rival Juko held out his arms and began gathering the same energy in his body. It felt as if thousand small burning ants were crawling inside his arms and spreading all out to his fingertips. When it finally left his body it seemed to be nothing more than a transparent cloud, surrounding his arms and hands and everything he looked at through it was weirdly displaced as if the sheer look he gave it had moved it by several inches. Juko did a step forward, careful not to drop or dispense the cloud of energy and immediately everything moved back on its regular place.
Before he could do more experiments with it however Shinzo's attack appeared before him, a wall of energy, about as big as Juko and by far wider it was threatening to swallow him whole. WIth a reckless move Juko attempted to sidestep it but it wasnt until his own hands touched the wall that he actually managed to dodge the attack. To be more precise, he didnt merely dodge it, he touched the energy as if it was solid and pushed it to the side.
Wow... what am i doing? Do i have more tricks up my sleeve?

Note #1: Resting gives you neat-o things for 25% of your AP for the round. However using more AP and not achieving the next 25% of your AP does not give you any bonuses!
Edit #1: I just goofed on Resting rules.
Edit #2: Clarification on Resting rules given and thus had to change the mod again. This ruling was from the Battle Moderator Head.

Following Juko's past encounter with Shinzo's miracle wave the boy decided to take up the offense again. This fight was dragging out to long as it was and he was positive that he was far inferior to Shinzo on the defense. This much had been made obvious by the first clashes of the two kids. From underneath furrowd brows the young boy eyed his opponent, the loose clothing sprinkled with ash and dirt and and loose bandages that so mirrored his own. It slowly became obvious to him that they shared more than initially suspected. It wasnt just that weird energy that both of them could utilize it was also their fighting style that, despite the differences in approach, both relied on dodging the opponents move. They were both wearing bandages on their hands and even when they were provoking each other to reach new heights they seemed to sound the same.
Juko smiled and cracked his knuckles. Time to bring this one home.
On the other side of the arena was Shinzo and he seemed to hold still for a moment, breathing calmly. To Juko it felt as his rival had exhausted his skills and abilities which was reason enough to launch another wave of offense at the boy. Oraaaaaa! Springing into a charge he rushed forward, his hands forming the necessary seals even as he moved towards his target.
This time the other academy student couldnt dodge in time and with satisfaction Juko managed to land a kick against Shinzo's legs and albeit he probably didnt manage to cause anything more than a bruise this was the first real hit since a long time thus enlivening him.
His right hand reached out and lightly tapped Shinzo's temple before the boy left Juko's range. At the same time a voice seemed to call out from behind Shinzo. And now for the finale, Clone kick!
Ready to use this brief moment of distraction Juko jumped backwards and cartwheeled behind one of the black trees that seemed to be more bone than wood. With a quick move he pulled out a small square plane which, once opened up revealed itself to be a personsized white square. Planting his hand on the surface he charged it with some of his chakra to turn the white cardboard-like material into its other appearance, that of a housewall. Shit. Thats the wrong one. Oh Juko, couldnt you have done anything right this time? Shit, i guess the stone-themed is still at home then...Oh Wait!
Fueled by a sudden spark of ingenuity he flipped the canvas around to show its black underside. Hah! This might not be as perfect as a well picked and themed surface but it might still do the trick! Wrapping it around himself he sat down next to one of the blackened trees, hoping not to be catched by Shinzo.
For a few moments he simply sat there, waiting for his victim to start moving, start searching. It was finally time for payback afte rall.
Hehehe... ill get ya, just you wait.. He whispered to himself as he closed his eyes and concentrated on the sounds Shinzo was making. Sounds that were very similar to steps, closing in fast. What??
Before he could counter anything a sudden punch hit Juko, only barely deflected by the canvas seperating the two kids. Like two cats fighting over a red ball of yarn Juko suddenly found himself in a tense struggle for domination with Shinzo and the colored plane. To his luck most of Shinzo's punches ended up hitting the plane rather than Juko and when he finally managed to unravel himself he found himself standing a few steps away from his opponent.

Shinzo drew his hands back towards his body, both palms were still held open as he placed his hands against his chest. Once more the young lad closed his eyes and drew the energy back from his arms and into the concentrated pool in the pit of his stomach. Once hit was fully under control, Shinzo began to lower his hands down the centre of his torso as a deep breath escaped his lips to calm his respiratory system. He felt reality warp around him, experiencing time as if it were slower outside of a translucent bubble that was around him. To onlookers he was engulfed in a mirage-like haze which formed a spheroid around the small boy’s physical frame. Though soon it faded from the area around him, probably lasting only a few seconds to those on the outside but to Shinzo it lasted a bit longer. His green eyes opened, looking towards Juko once again, he still didn’t feel back to normal but this would have to do for now.

He struggled with the questions that flew through his head regarding Juko’s abilities. How did Shinzo keep finding his blows caught in the hands of his opponent? How did the older of two shinobi in training suddenly start gaining agility, so much so that it had become so hard to hit him? And how did he manage to warp the shape of distorted reality itself? It was as if it had come out of nowhere, the blonde haired boy appeared to have just decided that he didn’t want to just make things easier for Shinzo. Oh no, it was clear that his fellow competitor had been holding back. But still something didn’t seem quite so clear, for a brief moment Shinzo had considered the question that asked how Juko could just copy his own style so effectively? Though there were subtle differences between the two, maybe there could be something else laying under the surface that neither of the boys had voiced yet…

The eight year old was brought harshly back to reality as he found himself confronting a blur of bandages and blonde hair that sent out a sweeping kick. There was no time to react, Juko had caught him off guard. Shinzo moved to twist his leg, moving his calf muscle to intercept the blow. His eyes squinted for a fraction of a second as pain shot up through his leg. He felt something touch his temple and a voice called out to him. ‘Clone kick? He spun around on the spot, ready to deal with any incoming strike to his blind spot but to his surprise there wasn’t anything substantial behind him. It took a few seconds for Shinzo to turn back around and search for his target. Nothing seemed to be too far out of place but then he saw it. The black mass sat stationary at a further distance from the last physical confrontation between both combatants. Shinzo smirked to himself for a moment before breaking out into a sprint. ‘I’ve got you now!’ He thought to himself as the distance quickly closed between himself and the cardboard-like material. A moment later Shinzo pounced forwards, leading his low altitude flight with his right fist. It ploughed through the air and around the plane, unfortunately for the younger of the two, Juko was able to manoeuvre the object to brush the blow to one side which reduced Shinzo’s hit to a metre graze. The next volley of punches only managed to make contact with the cardboard-like material, doing no useful damage.

As the two competing students locked eyes again, Shinzo thrust himself backwards to create as much distance between them as possible. Once more the boy took a breath to re-centre himself, placing his hands together with index fingers pointed towards the sky. Something needed to be done.

Shinzo stood back with his eyes fixed on Juko. His mind grew quiet, the piercing gaze of the crowd still remained cast over the arena and the two young competitors. This new and unfamiliar environment consistently threw him off, it was indeed intimidating enough to fight his fellow classmates but to do so in front of a huge group of spectators as well as the branch representatives and the Hokage herself was utterly terrifying. As the fight had progressed, the feelings of anxiety had wavered slightly thanks to Shinzo’s focus on the combat itself. He gulped down a lump that had formed in his throat as his mind wandered to ponder the sheer volume of spectators in the arena. Two jets of hot air shot from the nostrils of the eight year old boy as his attention shifted back to his opponent fully. Shinzo silenced his mind, blocking the noise from the crowd to enable a greater level of focus.

Shinzo blinked for what seemed like at least half a minute, but really it was more like half a second. The pool of reality warping energy began to expand out from the centre of his stomach. If anyone was able to see it then they would have been able to notice the energy work its way internally around the young boy’s body, engulfing his figure gradually. On the exterior, Shinzo still had his hands held together on his chest. Now was his time to utilise the technique that he spent most time practicing. The prospect of using this jutsu was something that the younger of the pair had been quite excited to experience on this grand stage. He looked up to Juko, meeting his gaze with a cheeky grin before his physical form flickered for a second in the light and then disappeared. A small cloud of dust was sucked into the space that the young Seikon had just been occupying.

For a split second Shinzo was completely absent from the field of battle. But then, without warning, he appeared from thin air behind Juko. He watched on as five balls of fire shot into the area that he had just been standing in causing masses of dirt to fly high into the air. They each left heir own small trails of smoke which all diverged from the point at which the jutsu was cast. The residual dust cloud dimmed the arena floor as it served to partially block out the sun. ‘Wow,’ Shinzo thought to himself as he watched the extreme power of the jutsu. ‘A second later and I’d be more charred than pumpkin bread that’s been left in the oven for two hours too long! Ripples of hot air remained on one half of the arena where the five balls of fire had landed, surely Juko wasn’t just a student? Was this some sort of test or something? Was Juko secretly part of ANBU?

“Behind you.” The whisper crept from his mouth as his right fist barrelled towards his opponent from this new location. It connected. Hooking into the space just below his opponent’s ribcage. A second jab came in, only to be swiftly redirected by the blonde haired lad. The third and fourth strikes came in quick succession, hitting one shoulder and then centre mass with as much force as Shinzo could muster. He hoped that this would have some sort of impact on his opponent but having watched the ferocity of the jutsu that Juko had just cast, Shinzo wasn’t quite sure that a few punches would really throw the guy off. There wasn’t too much more time to act and it was because of this that Shinzo leapt back onto his hands before springing himself up further away from his fellow competitor. He lowered his stance again, ready to face what was coming next and knowing Juko it wouldn’t be something that would be especially pleasant to deal with.

Juko felt his body slowly tensing up. he would have to finish this fight soon, lest he was about to loose his concentration. It was already becoming hard to pinpoint the younger boys position and Juko wondered just how high his opponents reserves had to be for him to keep up this sort of frightening speed throughout the whole fight. He doesnt really seem that much more tired than when we started this fight, he must be using some weird tactics to use this velocity constantly... even i cant keep up my energies for that long to keep that speed up... In all honesty, this fight was really frustrating to him. Not only was he barely able to hit his opponent but also was he getting hit every now and then. All in all a fairly bad constellation.
He blinked when Shinzo, standing on the opposite side of the arena, suddenly closed his eyes. Even from this distance, Juko could see and feel the energy gathering withhin the young boy.Crap, i cant let him get away with that! I am not sure i can deflect that weird wave attack another time! I have to stop him before he manages to charge that attack fully! His hands became a blur as he tried to create a jutsu to throw against his opponent in time. I wont let you shoot that attack another time!
Holding the hand to his face he exhaled and even more fireballs lifted high into the air before crashing down at the location where Shinzo had been standing.
Hah!
Juko was so sure that he had landed a critical hit this time, enough to bring back control over the flow of battle to his side that he dropped his defensive attitude entirely, instead raising his fist into the air and cheering loudly. Then, a whisper reached him from behind him. WHAT NO WAY!
He tried to spin around as fast as he could but before he could do a full rotation Shinzo's fist had already dug into his stomach, with more luck than skill he managed to parry the second incoming blow, but not the third and fourth. Pain spread like the web of a spider across his body, and with a loud cough Juko was pushed back as Shinzo stopped his assault. This... this is bad... i need to think of something quick! Otherwise this will be the end of me, and i cant let him have this victory!

With most of his moves countered or dodged Juko felt as if his otherwisely vast assortment of tricks was slowly coming to an end. His taijutsu attacks had been rendered useless by the boys superior speed, his ninjutsu attacks had been met with similar powers such as he himself was able to bring to the fight and his traps were lying on the ground, broken and dismantled. His will to continue this fight wavered. It seemed that since their last fight, Shinzo had not only restocked but majorly improved his skills. Then again, didnt i do so too? So far, it hadnt really worked but... it doesnt need more than just one lucky push to topple him... Juko's attention was everywhere but on his opponent as he focussed inward to decide whether to continue this fight or surrender for now and concentrate on further improvement.
After a few more moments of intense concemplation he straightened his back and once more faced Shinzo.
With clenched fists and trembling sides he gauged the distance between himself and his opponent. This fight... is far from over.... I can still stand and as long as i stand i can fight! As he breathed in he took a second to really feel the pain that was coursing through his body, reminding him of the strikes he had already received. Ugh... i wish the pain would atleast stop.... With the blink of his eyes and the impending darkness he pictured the pain as blooming flowers of red withhin his body, similar to plumes of fire in the night. No, dont be like that Juko. Your not a kid anymore... Bending his knees lightly he forced himself to suppress the fires of pain in his body until nothing more but glowing coals were left, leaving his body in an almost feverish state of heat.
So if Taijutsu doesnt work, Ninjutsu cant hit him and my traps are broken, i guess ill have to try using genjutsu again.. He didnt feel comfortable with these jutsu yet, having learned them just a short while ago, but it seemed he wasnt getting any other choices for now. Shit... With a quick curse fluttering of his lips the boy dashed forward again, his fingers forming handseals even as he was quickly approaching Shinzo. Before he could reach the other academy student though a sudden rush of cold air hit him straight in the face. Juko could feel his cheeks blow up and fill with air like a overgrown hamster as the stream of air passed through his face. He tried exhaling, tried shouting a curse at Shinzo but as he opened his mouth further he could feel all of the air in his lungs beeing sucked out. Darkness began creeping in from the outside of his sight and with sudden realization Juko noticed that his knees were touching the ground even as his open hands clawed at the formless jutsu that had hit him.
No no no, NO! I am not going down like this, gasping for air like a fish on land! I deny that! His bloodshot eyes seemed to pierce Shinzo. I will win this! I have to! Like a drowning sailor desperetaly trying to reach the surface of the water Juko tried keeping his consciousness afloat. Without waiting for him to take command again his body moved, and with a quick outburst of chakra he cast a genjutsu over Shinzo. Shouts from the Stadium all around Shinzo were suddenly growing in volume. People from all over the place, altough always from a position invisible to his rival, would cheer him on as the victor, praising his superb counter.
With Shinzo hopefully distracted for the moment Juko dropped on all fours and rolled to the side in the next bush.
It was a very obvious hideout, but for the moment it had to suffice. I wont need it for more than a moment anyway, just to regain some of my strength...

All seemed still as the two boys locked eyes with one and other, still everything seemed to be relatively even between them. One had the ability to continually fire off jutsu as if it were nothing, Shinzo had taken this mental note of his opponent, and in reality it deeply worried him. While he himself hadn’t been hit that much the thought of taking the full force of one of those fire balls deeply shook the young lad. He had to keep moving, but he also had to make sure that he himself could finish this fight, after all it couldn’t go on forever. ‘He must have something else up his sleeve, it seems as though he has a wide grasp over so many areas of the ninja arts. And here’s me just focusing on my taijutsu but the further we go on the less impact it seems to have, it’s like he’s adapting to how I fight. But even then when I used my most powerful ninjutsu he just shrugged it off and kinda pushed it out of the way.’ Shinzo sighed lightly, he wouldn’t allow for him impatience to take control of his combat.

A deep breath was drawn into the eight year old’s chest as he began to calm himself, centring his mind to keep it focused on the present moment. Upon exhaling the air he felt the energy within him calm, for now it wouldn’t just trigger any jutsu randomly, if he lost control then he was sure that this fight would be a complete loss. There was little time to think however as Juko began to sprint towards him, Shinzo didn’t hesitate to push off and charge his opponent. It was as if the two boys were mirroring each other, they both began to form their own hand seals as they ran, the distance between them closing rapidly. Shinzo’s could feel chakra emitting from his right hand, encasing his palm in a layer of wind chakra.

His eyes levelled on his opponent as the two grew within range of one and other, he felt the wind chakra extend out from his hand and make contact with Juko’s face. He watched as Juko’s cheeks expanded, Shinzo smiled to himself, a ninjutsu actually worked and it seemed to have a more comedic effect than first anticipated. The younger of the two did keep on running however to gain a bit more space between the pair. Upon reaching a suitable distance he spun on his heels to observe his rival, he saw the blonde haired boy kneeling on the ground, gasping for air. Shinzo’s face dropped, had he overdone it? “Are you alright!” He called out with a slightly anxious tone, despite this being a fight, he didn’t quite want to kill his fellow competitor. He wasn’t ready for that yet and out of all the other students Juko was the one he knew best, the one he could consider to be a friend even if it were only a one way sort of thing.

He took a step forwards to get closer to Juko but just as he opened his mouth to speak, he watched as Juko seemed to move but in that very moment the crowd roared. Shinzo’s hands shot up to his ears as this cacophony of shouting drew his attention away. Had he won, was that it? Surely not? He removed his hands from his ears to look down to his open palms. Was his jutsu really that powerful? He turned back towards Juko only to be surprised at his disappearance. Had he used the cheering to get away? Shinzo gritted his teeth, how could he let himself get so distracted with everything else going on, how idiotic could he be to fall for such a trick.

Shinzo drew a breath once more, now was not the time to bask in some false glory. He drew his hands to his chest again, calming himself in an effort to anticipate what was to come next.
