Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Current Ninpocho Chronicles Time:

Event The Kings and Queens at the Wall (Finale)

The living Siege Weapons were met with cruelty, anger, and one small boy who hated legs. The Sungakurian forces bathed in lime green blood. Wounds were opened up. Wounds were cooked. One of the Hulks was trying to walk on three legs. It was a very strange and terrifying sight. Again our heroes burned, electrified, cleaved, and caused misery for the enemy. The Siege Weapons were drowned. They were disabled. They could not make it to the wall. With what little damage they could do to our heroes, even they could not break the ranks. What our heroes could notice was that the enemy had endurance. They pushed and pushed hard, but they could not even breach the wall.

Some of the ranks of Sungakurian soldiers dismounted from the foe. Most of them were covered in lime green blood like it was a rebirth of sorts. While the Siege Weapons could not get to the wall, S'Stuk the third born was able to do so. The Unbent Assassin was at the wall. Adorned in very strange atire. Chittin armour with jagged plates. This enemy was a step above your normal Unbent. During the combat and the large scale battles, it had stalked the shadows, and scaled the wall. It did hit a number of traps which while not overly damaging was at the very least ... informative. Ren discovered the menace and alerted the Sungakurian forces. While Ren was able to inform the others, Harupia took took to a duel. The old teacher struck at this foe finding his attacks landing, but not nearly as effective as he would have suspected. Ren was able to make communications, but immediately after S'Stuk would unleash a magenta coloured nova. This nova was not meant to harm but to cripple communications. There was disorder at the wall now. Communications between everyone was gone. The Orders could not communicate with the Lord Steward who was now blind and mute. His communications were silenced. Luckily though before things were cut short, they knew one thing.

Something was at the wall. Something had slipped past them.

(This is phase 3, the final phase. Please note the additional AP cost of your techniques and lack of radio communication. You)

Ren was able to relay the call out and unfortunately only a single shinobi answers the call. Ren’s musical attack did nothing and the enemy disabled all radio communications. Ren still had her Feral Shift active. She needed to draw people to the wall and now. As Haru noticed in the class Ren had some knowledge when it came to chakra control, but he only saw the tip of it. She rapidly focus chakra to her feet and uses it to lift off high into the air. Once she was about to hit her high point, her body illuminates with a blindly light. Those at the wall could hear a distant scream as she glows brilliantly in the sky. When the light finally dims she begins to fall back to the wall. She manages somehow to land safely but feels exhausted all the same.

Despite their sluggish approach the massive, hulking Unbent beasts had arrived. With them in mind Kaen had kept his concentration and chakra flowing into the earlier jutsu. Like lambs to the slaughter they haphazardly trudged through the fiery pit of lava he had created, but it barely slowed them down, if at all. detached and undaunted by that fact the Sunan warrior remained composed and waited as instructed.

Without fail the Rangers on the wall let loose their fury into the night sky, illuminating the heavens and earth below as their flaming arrows flew and struck true. This was the signal he was waiting for and with a flick of his wrist he refocused the intense heat of scorching devastation back towards the approaching monstrous giants. But these Unbent seemed to know nothing about sensations and the arid heat that consumed them seemed to only temporarily relieve them of the rain that had fallen on them. Another plume of steam vented from his darkened helmet with frustration. "Fine, we can try something new then!" In his fury fueled power up Kaen plunged his sword into the sand before him and charged forward heading straight for the oncoming Hulks.

Despite the heavy appearance of his newly donned armor Kaen appeared to be able to move freely unhindered, even his dexterity was unaffected as he flung through a series of handseals. As the final seal was finished an enormous power surged through the Hybrid, temporarily sending chakra coursing through his veins to achieve new heights of speed. As he was sprinting across the dampened desert, his sister Lady Kasen did what she did best. The previously sandy landscape was transformed into a watery oasis of sorts as deep hues of blue gradually rose up from the earth below. His once nearly silent footsteps turned into a hastened pitter-patter as he met the aqueous scenery. Beneath his helmet a sly grin spread across his face, water was almost easier to traverse than sand allowing him to utilize his chakra to almost skate across the surface with incredible speed.

Holding out his hand with force the great-sword left in the sand over yonder was magically compelled to loose itself from the sands and shoot across the battleground leaving a thunderous echo in its wake. A loud clang rung out as the sword met his metal glove, signaling the beginning of their end. With unparalleled speed, in conjunction with the aid of the welled up chakra reserves, Kaen effortlessly managed to swing his sword a total of twenty-eight times and hitting all four of the lumbering Hulks. In a fixated pose, at the end of his motions, another plume of steam rose up from his heated body as the chakra flow ceased. Slowly rising up Kaen stared into the cloudy sky and exhaled slowly. That was the first time he ever tried that technique in such a manner. Quite frankly he was surprised he was able to pull it off. Had it not been for Kasen's water he might not have been able to succeed with his assault.

A small lull in his actions would give him a moment to take it all in. Kaen watched on for a second as he bore witness to the mighty devastation that his fellow Sunans were performing. These Hulks stood no chance at tall. But that did not stop the full force and ferocity of the army as the pressed onward and continued the attack. He would not let them have all the glory and would tighten his grip on his great-sword. With a booming cry he would focus chakra into his blade and raise high above before sending it crashing downward making contact with the ground below him. Ripples of energy reverberated outwards in a line towards the conveniently positioned Hulks. Fissures formed underneath the feet of the Hulks causing a vast eruption of molten rock and lava to explode into the underbellies of the beasts. If they could feel pain they surely would cry out in response.

Blind and unaware of the state of the Hulks the Flame Court Hybrid would regain his composure for a brief moment and placed his sword into the ground once more. Paying no mind to whomever might have been in his immediate vicinity Kaen would unleash the full force of his Ancient aura in an effort to power up for a final attack. "Your life ends here! HUAAGGHHH!" With a mighty bellow from deep within his chest the fire would erupt around him in a brilliant, incandescent show of force. Focusing all the energy he could muster Kaen let loose an explosive wave of energy that then split into many bursts of energy. The Hulks were pelted and pummeled with incredible force and power, surely there would be little to nothing left of them. This fight was beginning to take its toll on Kaen, made evident after this flashy technique. He breathed heavily inside his armor as he tried to catch his breath.

But there was no rest for the wicked, or the morally inclined for that matter. An enigmatic feeling spread across the battlefield as this mysterious foe revealed itself. Kaen had been so caught up in the battle before him be failed to notice the figure that slipped past the majority of the Sunan forces. Frustrated, but not discouraged, Kaen would attempt to radio everyone who would be listening. "All radios, there's----" And then his radio cracked and sizzled in his ear as the disrupting wave of energy fried its circuitry. "AGH! Shit that fucking hurt!" His ear was damaged, but not severely. Nothing a small dose of medical attention wouldn't fix. But it was painful none the less. What else was there to do but cry out to whomever could hear him.

"EVERYONE! TO THE WALL!!!"

I've also completed all of the phase missions up to this point, one through three. Below are the buffs associated with these missions;

Gratitude of the People
Your deeds and tasks will not be forgotten. Your deeds have filled the people of Wind County with hope and have caused them to dream of a better future.

Start an event battle with temporary HP and CP. This is a stacking buff. Gain 1000 HP and CP for each person who has completed a mission during phase 1 of the Kings and Queens at the Wall event. This buff caps out at 5000 HP/CP. This buff is only useable during the Sungakure Events which involve the Swarm and NOT PVP battles. The temporary HP and CP have their own pool, and will be drawn upon first before a player's HP and CP are used.

Prepared and Efficient!
Your deeds and tasks will not be forgotten. You have helped Sungakure to become better prepared for the coming battle. You have gained the following custom technique, this is for PvE Battles only involving the Swarm

Exploit Weakness: All Three Orders have shared with knowledge with each other. You have learned to be efficient in your strikes against the swarm. Your next technique (taijutsu/genjutsu/ninjutsu) against a swarm member will cost 0AP and 0CP. This technique has a cool down of four rounds This attack is coming from the actual player character and not a summoned entity.

Harupia had a faint idea of what transpired as he charged back to the wall through his constructs. It was an unpleasant feeling as the Terror of the dunes ended up swallowed by the larger hulking Juggernaut, but with all the attacks the best was wakened enough for the worm to burst through its armored belly, letting out a triumphant roar of its own, before it froze in place and slowly, the sand forming it begind to fade, blown by the wind towards the wall. Atop of this Wind, the Sand Clone flew towards it again. Harupia would need all hands on deck here, but the worm seemed not the best idea to have near the wall.

This thing was difrent...and in a way almost familiar. in contrast to the quasi humanoid shamblings corpses and the giant beasts, this seemed familiar in shape as if they took a human being and actually put effort into making him walk. And it seemed it was no mere body, as he struck with all the might he could, but it seemed he bearly scratched it. Before either, he or his clone which trailed behind him could attempt to strike again the lone unit escaped his grasp and climbed atop the wall, sending out a pulse of energy in spite of Harupia giving pursuit.

He felt...nothing. It confused him t first but then the startling static of his headset came in. So its plan was to sabotage the communications...before doing anything else. Roughly at the same time, he saw Ren using her chakra to move high into the air and put all her power into sending a massive signal flare, letting everyone know where the attention was needed.

The sand clone moved with haste, commending the sand in its body and floating in their air to stroke at the insectoid assailant while managing to snatch Ren from the air and put her down. The further away from both Harupia and his opponent. He stood upon the wall he helped to build, a lot of emotion going through his mind. He was confused as to how this thing was made, relife ren was relatively safe but mostly anger. At these things for disturbing their lands, for whatever made him...anger at himself. It the best wanted to it ould cause a lot more damage...and he couldn't do anything to stop it. But this time...this time he'd put his back into it.

It could be somewaht staggering site for anyone close by, the cloud of sand which formed the Terror of the dunes before now reaching the wall, joined by even more rising from the ground and focusing around a single point. IN the middle of it was Harupia, though it would be hard to recognize at this state. It almost seemed as if the sand was seeping directly into his body, bulging it, misshaping. His face a ghastly site, dark brown with golden eyes, shifting at if there were other faces trying to break free through them. He never really went as far with releasing the power trapped inside of him but at this point he wanted the creature gone... charging closer he held out his arm, suddenly the cloud of sand seemingly sounding him coalescing into it. And as he swung ti forward it released. A massive blast covered the top of the gate, arcing slightly above it. Anyone to close could feel the immense pressure, and see the violent surge of sand, the particles of it almost glistening as grounded up diamond, metal, and other particles were shot out so violently. It almost looked like in that one isolated section the power of the Dimond Mealstorm was tamed and directed to rip the target apart, with the power bursting within, almost as if creating separate attacks in one motion.

The Toraono’s blows rained down on his gigantic opponent. Flaming waves of sharp purple edges broke against the beast to slow it down a little when the message hit his headset. Soon after a volly of arrows flew into the air and the demon-kin’s image flickered once more, and reappeared behind the beast’s leg to shelter himself from the following rain of death. Shortly after the others began their attacks and all of the hulkbreakers were at the mercy of Suna’s might; just as their Unbent had been before them. Michino readied his blade and began his attack in full.

A spike of demonic flames roared around his image as he lifted the weightless black sword and struck it down against his opponent in a weaving fashion, his breathing purposefully shallow as he focused his demonic blood flow into his legs to weave across the giant’s body. With each strike an explosion of purple flames followed as the blade created openings for his fellow soldiers to strike. The boulder his sister had summoned came flying down to crash against the beast’s head, splitting the stone into two perfect halves. Each of them fell on either side of the creature as Michino laid out a flurry of final attacks, then began his descent.
Through a mix of experience, training, and raw power the shinobi slid, hopped, jumped, and sometimes tumbled, down the colossal creature until his feet once more touched the muddied sands. Splashes of salt water and Unbent blood mud strode up as he quickly made his way onto one half of the split boulder to gain better footing, and raised his black sword above his head.
Michino took in a long and deep breath before slowly releasing all of it until no oxygen remained lingering in his lungs. Carefully he coaxed his panicking reflexes to breath as the demonic blood began to strengthen with his asphyxiation. The black sword-shaped fire exploded in both strength and magnitude as the Toraono prepared his body to unleash a powerful blow onto the hulkbreaker. Yet, before he could swing, his fellow soldiers charged in and all but decimated the creature before he could get the swing out. The hilarity wasn’t lost on the swordsman, and before he realized what he was doing the Toraono sucked in a gulp of breath to start laughing.
The black sword exploded followed shortly by his headset after a scream for help came from the wall. The force of either wasn’t enough to do any damage to anyone around, or even himself, but the sudden end to a building demonic technique recoiled onto the giant human’s body. A paralyzing darkness overtook his senses, and though he knew he was now kneeling, he didn’t feel or watch it happen. All he could hear was the faint call of his sister, trying to scream something at him. Mode? Mook? Shoove? What was she screaming?

MOVE!

Owari tried her hardest to catch is attention. She had heart a chortle followed by sudden silence from her brother’s direction, then felt a waver in their connection. The sudden shake of their contractual bond from Michino losing consciousness rocked the demoness and caused her to fall back into the mud. Yet that wasn’t why she was screaming. The beast that had taken all those blows from the Sunans, the one they had both worked together fighting, was now falling. Its sheer gigantic weight was tumbling down towards the half-boulder that Michino was kneeling on. Certain that the mortal body with her demonic bond was about to get crushed, Owari undid the summoning jutsu and poofed into a cloud of steam…and back into a presence inside of Michino’s head. Without even bothering to try and wake his conscious, the demoness took reigns of his body and began to quickly stumble backwards in a vain attempt to clear the boulder-half’s edge.
Owari was not fast enough, however, and the beast’s head collided against the boulder edge. The force pushed down one half of the boulder and forced the side Owari and Michino were on upwards suddenly. It catapulted their body towards the storming sky, facing the North, then through those black clouds…and then far beyond sight could see…

The rain poured, washing away stale blood and fresh grime; it soaked into Kazu’s hair, causing the charcoal black locks to sop downwards and cling to his face, and seeped into his clothes until he felt their weight with every movement he made. Yet, nothing could stop him now. Nothing would hold him back. A cloud of burning steam trailed behind the boy, pouring out of his mouth, as if some monstrous inferno was raging deep within the youth. The intensity and fury in his blood-red eyes made that seem like a not-so-unrealistic possibility.

His feet — bare from the use of Fire Jutsu channeled through his feet, which tended to burn off whatever footwear he had worn previously — squelched through sandy, muddy, water and the unmentionable leavings of battle as he made his way towards his target. The nearest Hulk, terrifyingly foreign in appearance and intimidating in size, was too busy to notice one little boy. ’That was your first mistake,’ thought Kazu, ’besides, of course, threatening my home.' Even with the rain pouring down, Kazu still kept a strong grip on his sword of bone. It wouldn't take long for the streaks of putrid green blood to wash off of him.

He charged. Closing the gap, Kazu aimed for the closest thing — the only thing — of the gigantic Hulk that he could reach: its feet. Hacking and slashing, he chipped away at what he could. He stabbed at its toes. He swiped at its ankles. And all the while, he dodged in-and-between the behemoth footsteps. Soon, the beast oozed green blood. Kazu's sword was soaked in it. He was soaked in it, despite the rain. But that would not stop the young boy. The Hulk started to falter, to stumble, and in that moment Kazu saw an opportunity to do even more damage; the boy climbed onto the beast's back, using its crumpling knee as a jumping point, and began to to slash away at the areas its scythe-like arms could not reach. 'These things weren't designed to ward off an attack from behind,' realized the young boy. 'I'll be taking full advantage of that.'

He continued his assault, staying rooted to its slippery skin using chakra coursing through his feet as an anchoring point. Next came the shoulders, then the arms, and then finally...a moment came when the beast rose one of its arms to strike, and instinct took over Kazu. In one foul swoop, his blade came down upon the exposed bit and...SWISH!...the beast's hand fell uselessly onto the ground. It had been a stroke of fate, perhaps, or maybe the young boy was simply in the right place at the right time.

Before long, the Hulk crashed to its knees, lifeless as the hand that laid beside it, and moved no more. Kazu's burning red eyes stood out among the bright green blood that caked every inch of his skin and clothes. His chest heaved with exertion. 'Or is that exhilaration?' The boy could not tell. But for that one moment of the battle, he felt at peace. He felt...calm.

Then his radio crackled with static. All around him, Kazu noticed confused shinobi who surely had realized the same thing. The boy heard a distant call, rallying the troops to the wall, and wondered what was happening. But there was no time to wonder, or wait. The moment of peace had ended — it was time to go back into the fray.

[ooc: for actions, Kazu will just stay in Defensive Mode (don't think there's much more he can do right now).]

Below him the tremendous creatures fell beneath the might of Sunagakure's elite and the golden-haired fighter knew that he'd made the right decision in trusting them to handle the situation below. Each chakra-enhanced movement of their bodies, each tremendous swing of their weapons and devastating swathe of Ninjutsu caused the pulse of the battle that the man was following to swell and surge. There was an invisible energy that coursed all around them and each of their actions fed into it but even as the gargantuan monsters were brought to a halt it was clear that not everything was going to plan.

The man felt it before he saw or heard it. A wave of inhuman energy pulsed from the wall and washed through the battlefield coating everything in it's stench and the sensation of it made his skin crawl in revulsion. He had no electronic gear to be disrupted but the unsavory nature of the pulse was enough to draw the man's attention to back to the wall and as he rotated in the air to look down at the place from which the grim shift in energy had come from he took notice of the young girl flying up into the air as she burst into light and then began to fall. With the sound of air popping and exploding behind him as he moved, the man flew through the air like a bolt of lightning leaving a bright blue streak behind him as he raced to catch the falling girl that had put herself in danger to bring the attention of the fighters engaged in battle back to the wall.

His landing was rough given that he'd only had a few moments of time as he passed the falling student but just the same the stone under the man's feet buckled and cracked as he slammed into the top of the wall, the student safely caught from her fall and clearly exhausted from the effort that had put her in the air. Some might have criticized her tactic of leap without a plan to land safely but there was something about her choice that the man couldn't help but admire. She'd made a choice to bring attention of the other fighters back to the wall without consideration for her own safety. Who couldn't respect and admire that? Leaning down he released her from his arms and gave her a genuine smile.

"Hey. That was quick thinking to get us back here. Thanks for the assist." He didn't know the student's name and they had no time for introductions but he wanted to make sure that she knew to take cover or at least to make sure she wasn't in the crossfire of what was coming. "Everything's gonna be just fine now."

Standing back up, the man looked over his shoulder at the beast which had caused the wake of evil presence to cascade over the battlefield. It was taller than him but not by much and very much looked human in contrast to the alien appearances of the other creatures they'd fought. It was covered from head to toe in ghastly spiked plates of armor which had a natural look about them but otherwise it had two arms, two legs and a head the way a regular normal human being would. The part that betrayed it as truly inhuman was the way it moved its body in quick jerking bursts and most apparently the spiritual presence that it exuded. The air was thick with the cloying weight of its dark aura and though the man didn't fully comprehend the sensation that rushed across his body as he stood before the creature he understood it to be familiar. There was something about this being that prickled his damaged memory in a startling fashion and that made it all the more important to him that he fight his hardest.

mrMPvBm.gif

Flexing the muscles in his arms as bolts of energy played across his shoulders and upper body, the man spiritually tugged on the threads of energy that he'd been gathering around him since the battle had commenced. Each of those tethers connected to his impromptu allies and was flush with the various things that made them strong. Their passion, their strength, their anger and even their fear. It mixed together to create a potent mix of raw spiritual power that suffused the air all around them and with a swift movement of his arms the man brought it close to him, collecting in the twisting maelstrom of bright blue and gold lightning that crackled around his body. Just as creature that stalked ever closer to him provoked something primal in the man's heart that he couldn't explain or understand, he knew that this was the answer that his heart had produced to combat it. Moving purely on instinct, he raised his eyes towards the creature and dashed to the side to avoid throwing the collected power into the panicked and horrified soldiers that looked on from the other side of the menacing beast that had breached Sunagakure's front line. With a flicker of movement, the man skidded to a stop just off to the creature's left side and facing the side of the wall which faced the outward direction to the desert before pouncing forward and thrusting his fist, charged with every particle of energy that he'd collected from the other fighters which were present towards the creature.

The living siege weapons would have been impressive if they were up against anything but the best of the best that Sand had to offer. In mere moments the beasts were torn asunder, cut, crushed, burned and only the mistress knows what else as a barrage of jutsu just met them head-on. Among these jutsu were Tekes and she would love to have people believe that was her normal power but, it clearly wasn't, the technique was unfamiliar to her and upon using it she felt the chakra points in her body start to strain all at once. Her angel-like form would start to warp as her feathery wings more than doubled in size and her skin started to seemingly vanish, leaving only light behind, shining brighter than the sun yet gentle on the eyes her body seemed to swell up leaving only her eyes, mouth and robotic arm as the only distinguishing features that remained... this was the beginnings of an ascension and Teke could feel it.

"Okay... this isn't good." She said to herself, though one person was listening.

"Do not shy away, young Teke." Spoke Lofiel softly. "Don't let it take you, your body will hold this time, I promise. You need to give the power an outlet, or it will rip through you as it did previously."

It took Teke a moment to realize what it was she meant by this and all to quickly the memories of her body's self-destructive tendencies flooded back, making her wince just remembering it. She could feel even her muscle fibers vibrating with power as it pushed and rushed through her body looking for an outlet, any outlet and that was the first task she would find herself with. As this was happening a new enemy would be revealed to the resistance and in this moment Teke didn't know how to handle this power but she'd be damned if she wasn't about to try. Putting all the power into her shoulders she extended her arms out, toward the new target of her Villages ire and let all the Holy lightning chakra flow through her arms and out to her palms where she would begin concentrating all than her body could muster.

The rest of the war effort had done their turn around and immediately headed back to take this entity down, but even as fast as they were, as she was, it would be moments wasted, she had to attack now in order to prevent even one unwarranted casualty. There was no time for thinking, only instinct, letting go of all brain functions for but a moment to allow the animal instinct within her to do what it must.

"You're getting closer." Whispered Lofiel, who'd located herself behind the glowing entity that was Teke. "The first step of a thousand, yet one more than any mortal in recent history."

"Your first mistake... was thinking of me... as merely mortal!" Teke spoke, as the strain of containing the all this raw power started to reach it's peak.

Between the girls palms crackled a sphere of crackling chakra, even in with the deserts heat there would be none unable to feel the heat it was generating as it pulsed and struggled against the young ladies grip, whatever it was she was about to unleash was not going to be pretty, her only hope is that it would not harm those she was fighting alongside, deep down she know it wouldn't but that paranoia would always play when dealing with power of this magnitude. There would be no tell when the jutsu finally fired off, it would simply already be at its destination, the mash-up of the holy and lightning chakra tore through the air at light speed, instantly enveloping its desired target in a maelstrom of pain.

tumblr_p29r644uay1r72ht7o6_r1_500.gifv

Teke wasn't done just yet though and immediately followed behind the jutsu and toward who or whatever this figure was and as the beam finished passing through them Teke would be right there, in its face with her fist clenched.

"If this is the best you could bring against us, I'd suggest groveling now!" She yelled into its face as she brought her fist down upon it.

Thunder boomed across the sky as the Hulks made their way every so slowly forward. Kasen looked upon the towering beasts and watched as her comrades charged forward without hesitation. In the distance, Kasen could see Kazu in the distance covered in grime and blood, clinging to his sword as steam poured from his mouth. Kasen felt a swell of pride for her young nephews bravery. Even in the face of adversity he was ready to take on things a million times larget than he was. To her side, Kasen saw as Kaen stood still in a sea of people sprinting towards the hulks. A sword had been buried into the sands. Even from here, Kasen could feel the heat that resided within Kaen. Perhaps it was their bond as siblings...or something more, but she could see he was about to unleash hell. Looking up towards the sky once more, as it cascaded a silhouette of the roaring beasts, Kasen felt her own power stir within her. She was here as a healer, but in this moment, this element, her calling was upon her. She needed to make use of the assets of the terrain and amplify them.

Play Me

Digging her feet into the mud, Kasen squared her shoulders up. Rolling them once to each side, Kasen's vibrant blue aura started to swell around her. The rain almost cascaded around her like a dome. Kasen could feel the water deep beneath the sand awaken at her call. "I'll send you all to a watery grave, you bastards." Kasen surged forward, another wave coming up around her as she quickly gained speed and launched herself forward from the top of the crest of the wave. She rocketed herself into the ground, slamming her hand and sending ripples of blue colored chakra across the surface of the sands. Within seconds, water started to form around the beasts, the ground fell out and where once there had been sand, was now a deep deep lake around all four of the Hulks. They fell into the watery depths with roars of outrage. Kasen wasn't finished just yet though. Standing upon the water's surface, Kasen's eyes started to glow a white and her hands came u

p in front of her. With fluid grace, Kasen began to move her hands in a horizontal circle. The waters within the lake responded in kind, swirling around with her hand gestures. The water turned and turned quickly, until a vortex like whirlpool had the Hulks spinning and crashing into one another. Thousands of shark fins could be seen circling the hulks as Same led the charge.

As the others around her sent barrage after barrage of attacks towards the hulking beasts, Kasen would not let them be free from the depths she had created. "Aquarius sends her regards." As the whirlpool continued to spin and the hulks desperately tried to pull themselves free, Kasen summoned forth a giant wave that grew in size the closer it drew to the hulks. Kasen clamped her hands down upon one another, sending the waters crashing down into the Hulks, crushing some of them in the process. Still, Kasen wasn't finished quite yet. Many of the hulks had stopped resisting, some had already falling to the might of others, but she still felt that more could be done. The rain was still falling from the heaven's, although given how much water was present now, it was hardly noticeable to her. Kasen reminded herself of that time she spent in Kiri, of the bite that could be held within the frozen waters. Look upward, Kasen channeled her chakra into the surrounding rain. "Freeze." A cold snap in the air immediately began to chill the waters around her. The soft droplets quickly turned into small icy daggers as hail pelted the outer plates of the hulks. Perhaps it was not much, but Kasen felt satisfied she had done her part in controlling the situation and preventing these beasts from getting to the wall.

As the waters began to recede and the snow cleared the air, Kasen saw as all 4 hulks lie dead upon the ground. She stood there, allowing herself to
157864_1230075572330_full (1).jpg
take a few deep breaths. She had exerted a lot of her inner energy controlling and summoning the waters around her, but it had paid off and she was far from finished. A loud crackle of static burst through her ear moments later and Kasen removed the small headset device, staring at it's fried, smoking remnant. The fight was far from over, as in the distance, Kasen saw at the wall another large behemoth already at the gates. Her eyes narrowed as she assessed the large creature. Some had already turned to help, while some just stood in awe. While many had been distracted by the Hulks that were drawing forward, somehow this thing had managed to slip past them. Kasen needed a moment to recover, else she would quickly burn herself out. She had never really reached the end of her capabilities, but she had never attempted such a feat as she just had and was not willing to try her luck in this situation. At least, not while she had to pay attention to making sure everyone on the field made it out alive. Same pulled up next to her, a concerned look in the sharks eye. Kasen grabbed onto her fin and pointed to where Riyota was. "Go, Same." The shark made no comment and silently followed the orders given to her.

As Kasen reached Riyota's position, she would run and stand until she was just in front of him, and take his hand in hers. "I know we haven't known each other for very long, but I don't want to live my life with any regrets. Too much of my life was taken away from me due to others. If either of us die on this day, I want to know I lived my life to the fullest. Which is why, despite the awful timing, I'm asking you to marry me." Kasen stared at him for a moment, unsure of what his answer would be. Perhaps after all of this, he would just think her crazy for asking such a thing of him, now of all times, but she couldn't continue until she at least knew she had tried to ask what her heart asked of her. Same resided outside her body at the moment, meaning that this request came only from Kasen. She would wait as long as she could for an answer, but she knew that both of them were still needed for the fight. Kasen would place a quick kiss upon Riyota's lips before hopping back onto same and riding towards S'stutk. This fight wasn't over yet.

1. Dismiss Obsidian Dragon (0 AP)
2. Cast Spitting Image [Mastered] 2200 Cp, 1100 Cp/Rnd (3AP + 1AP = 4AP) targeting S'stutk

  • Rank 2: Creates a clone of the target, requiring a Ninjutsu Check upon initiation. This clone has -2 secondaries of the target and Hp/Cp equal to 30% of the user's max Cp.
3. Cast Red Haze [Mastered] 3030 Cp, 1520 Cp/Rnd (3AP + 1AP = 4AP)using special action Bloody Mist to target everyone and applying the special dependent tidecaller move - Healing Waters
  • Rank 2: Effects 3 targets. Those effected take 5% Max Hp damage each round, and have a +8% chance of bleeding. The user has a 36% chance to have their bleed level increased each round active.
  • Special Action - Bloody Mist: The user may pay +20% Cp and lowering accuracy by -2, the user may spread this jutsu to effect all in battle, including themselves. This increases the chance of the user's bleeding being increased by +10%
  • Healing Waters- Dependent Special Move (3 points)
Water is not only a destructive force, but the source of all life; without water, nothing can survive. Under this philosophy, Tidecallers can channel water jutsu designed to hurt and maim into the healing aspect of water.
Effect: For +20% CP, the user may instead target friendly targets (including themselves) with Water jutsu. Damaging jutsu will heal for the damage they would have done, including damage boosts to Water actions. Non-damaging jutsu will instead dispel any Poisons affecting the target and reduce their Bleed rank by 1. If the Water attack is targeting more than one target, it will still retain its original number of targets and will have the relevant effect of Healing Waters on all of them. After use, this cannot be used again for 10 seconds.
    Notes:
    • If the user is unable to currently select a target, Healing Waters may still be used, but will still heal if it hits an unfriendly target.
    • All effects other than those given by Healing Waters are removed.

After entering a defensive stance, the current Kazekage would get lost in the action that was unfolding before him. Since the gate crashing beasts did not head to his direction, he would take the seconds of their existence to make his way to the large group of the Suna Shinobi forces. He would find himself enamored. It was truly a spectacle to see, as those who fought for the village let loose with all of their might. In his year time working in the shadows, preparing with Sousuke to take the full reins as Kazekage, he did not ever get a chance to see what the shinobi were truly capable of, and this current display was far more than he could have ever imagined.

Was it perfect? No, it seemed that several of those present were inefficient with their power output and utilization, leading them to get winded quicker than they probably should have, and it seemed several were just throwing their all at each wave, meaning that by the time S'Stuk appeared they were already riding on their last legs. This sort of sloppy behavior he would need to take charge of after the battle. The first waves were easily handled by their combined might, so it would seem that some were just showing off with flashy skills to merely do as a much, and he was well aware that such arrogance opened the door for tragedy. Yet, they were all consumed with an enviable fighting spirit, so he could not scold them too harshly. Heck, just watching some of them made him want to go foolishly wild.

Then his attention would cut to the wall as Sousuke's voice would cut out and several flashes of light would go off, one an odd purple and the other a warning flare. Either way, it would seem that the last available target would be there.

Flames still draped around him, he would rush towards the beast that had assailed Sousuke, would let loose his own barrage as his eyes would catch his eye as he sent a fiery orb into the stomach of S'Stuk. Following immediately after him would be a man, consumed in muscles and energy, who would unleash his own punch into the Unbent. His eyes would widen as he would feel the release of the chakra the man had been holding, and would quickly push himself backward, to gain distance from the force of the impact. Not wishing to give S'Stuk a chance to breathe, where he did or didn't survive the massive strike of yellow-haired man, he would unleash a powerful beam of heat chakra once more in this battle, this time at a more concentrated target as opposed to wildly cutting through a wave of Unbent.

He would then ready himself, uncertain if the onslaught would be enough to vanquish the new foe, one that was clearly several levels higher than the previous waves they had easily fought through.

The Hulk Breakers split off to different routes, besieging the walls by different paths. Groups of Shinobi were sent flying by their charge. One was headed right towards Riyota and he braced himself into the mud. "Come and get me you ugly bastard!" He taunted seconds before impact, even his unbreakable skeleton was rocked by the force of the hulk, but he was undeterred. His prehensile tail swung and hooked on to the beast. Allowing Riyota to aim himself during his brief flight in order to land on its back. As the Hulk raced towards the Bulwark Riyota crouched upon it.

With an almighty tug on its horn, he caused the beast to rear up, ruining its march towards the wall. As its head lifted time seemed to slow as another fleshy opening, this time reinforced by unshattered bone formed right in front of the beast's face. Time sped up as another earth-rending blast of energy was fired straight into it. Two more of these cannons formed and fired directly into two of the other charging monsters.

His cursed seal, as if reacting to the violence seemed to grow and spread even more, and he felt new power flow through him. The Malevolent blasts that used to exhaust him now barely impeded his stamina. In addition to this, he felt his newly grown tail surge with even more power. He grinned as he fired again, scorching the same targets with corrupted chakra, even more, powerful than the last time. However, the beast still remained and with a final desperate cry Riyota plunged his blades into its skull, trying to bring it to a screeching halt.

Instead of taking the time to retrieve the weapons he simply activated the releases and left the blades within the beast, to retrieve at a later time. Not wishing himself to be unarmed, he formed a weapon purely of bone, giving it a few test swings as the other Hulk Breakers were dispatched. Shards of Ice stuck out of their corpses and a chill formed in the air, courtesy of the Siegebreaker herself. There would be no time to rest... There was still more to come...

The crackling of his earpiece was interspersed with sounds of pain and struggle from the other end, the feedback was deafening and Riyota had to rip the device out of his ear. He looked up at the wall. His rangers still ready, cursed energy surged within his throat and his voice had a demonic boom as he shouted up at them. "Rangers! The Steward needs support, as do our Journeymen, go back them up! Get medical personnel with you to check the wounded, we aren't finished yet!" He could only hope the unnatural enhancement of his voice would be enough. He wiped away a small droplet of viscous black liquid that dripped out of his mouth as he looked on the horizon line. Their communications were severed, but nothing could beat the resourcefulness of Suna's best and brightest.

He heard footsteps running behind him but before he could even turn to see the person his beloved Kasen appeared in front of him, taking his hand in her's. He watched and listened patiently, remaining vigilant for any attacks that would come for them during the distraction. His gaze focused on her's for a good few moments after her proposal. He was stunned, never thinking he would hear those words in his life.

Not wanting to leave her in suspense, he grinned in utter joy. "Kasen I would kiss you right now but...y'know I'm all muddy...and also...the- y'know what, screw it. No regrets!" He announced, pulling her towards him and kissing her deeply. "I love you...but right now I need you to go kick some butt." He joked, stepping aside as Same appeared to take her over to the new threat.

"Are we not going with them little cub?" The great bear enquired, stomping forward mightily to stand next to her summoner. Riyota looked to her with a weak smile as he took a kneeling position, staring out on the horizon line. "We'd just be in the way Siegebreaker...and I intend to make sure nothing else sneaks up on us." The bear said nothing more, but seemed to nod in understanding, readying herself. Riyota kept his eye open, ready for anything. The Sentinel on the battlefield.

"Go be heroes everyone, I'll keep looking out."

S’Stuk was considered durable. It was also considered stealthy. While Sungakure had indeed burned, drowned, froze, thunderstruck, sliced apart, and destroyed the swarm the mission it was tasked with was simple. Get inside Sungakure and begin to take it apart. Sungakure had fallen once to a group called the Cabal. The plan could work again, in theory, if not for a meddling small child who placed traps at the wall. The carapaced body of S’Stuk caught hold of ninja wires and the same meddling child alerted several people. The plan had fallen apart, and quickly at that. Had S’Stuk got inside the walls there would have been a number of people killed.

S’Stuk’s first bit of the operation was to disrupt communications, which it did. The communications lines were down and the Watcher was cut off from people. Unknown to most of the combatants the Watcher himself was turned off. Within the walls the Lord Steward sat in a motionless state, much of the equipment in the room had been fried, and in essence it seemed like he had been turned off. Was he in fact dead?

The forces of Sungakure rallied. Lord Kaen called the forces back to the wall. His roar was heard and the Sungakure army was able to turn their attention to the assassin who was at the wall. Harupia who had squared off against S’Stuk continued to do so. There was not enough time to outfront kill the old power. Like the Takahashi clan, the Sunaku clan too had been in Sungakure for the longest of times. S’Stuk spawned blades from his forearms and did battle. He moved quickly and quietly. He grazed the old teacher a number of times, but his blows were being held back by the sand. The sand that was one of the Diamond Maelstrom cut S’Stuk deeply. The sand debris that was in the wounds turned to glass shards as Kaen heated things up with the intensity of flames. S’Stuk was burned with the fire of the Court of Flames, and when those flames receded, S’Stuk stood there with shards of glass impaling its being. S’Stuk was given pause for a moment as Sunahoshi Katuso phased in right beside itself. The alien eyes glared at the scion of the clan. A deadly blow that carried with it the essence of the people of Sungakure shattered and disintegrated its ribcage. S’Stuk was fading as the blow was infection. The swarm was known for regenerating, and so the insect-like being tried to do that. S’Stuk tried to regenerate but was quickly blasted by lightning by the ward of the Steward. S’Stuk in what time it had left knew it was not going to be able to regenerate. The next best thing it could do was to relay information to Augmentus. S’Stuks eyes closed as it tried to send the data it had recorded in these precious moments to its superior. It had to send its data to the second born. Yet that would not occur as S’Stuk was burned again by flames at the hand of the Kazekage.

Only twenty-size percent of the data was sent back. Not nearly enough. S’Stuk was vaporized and was being deleted from existence. By flame, by thunder, by sand, and by the people was the threat removed from existence.

Riyota, Kasen, Kazu and a number of other forces stayed back. Riyota would see a figure in the distance. It too stood humanoid. It had a carapace too like S’Stuk, but it remained very much away from the battle. It stood there with three fingers pressed against its head. It was receiving the data of S’Stuk’s experiences but it only gathered a fraction. Riyota and Kasen could feel the glare of four eyes upon them. In the head of this new devilry, there were two eyes at first glaring at them, but then two additional slits opened up. This devilry would turn its back upon them and would go into the night. Sungakure had indeed survived.

Speakers would emerge from panels on the wall. It seemed that the wall itself was back and operational. ”Sungakurian forces, this is the Lord Steward. Communications are back up, it seemed that some channels are fried due to our enemy. Those still on the front lines head back. We have survived the Long Night. We need to tend to each other and the time for healing begins.”

(Feel free to throw in a conclusion post being you going back to the wall, or if you're already at the wall, perhaps some thought of what had happened?)

The other fighters arrived in short order to confront the creature that had appeared on the parapet of Sunagakure's last line of defense. It was close; they'd almost let something sneak by them and if the creature had been a little bit more cautious perhaps he would have made it into the city but it was not to be. The warning sent up by Ren had ensured that enough of the front line fighters had returned to the wall in time to ensure that S'stuk could go no further. Faced with no prospects for escape and no possibility of advancement the unbent monstrosity leaned into the only course of action that was available to it which happened to coincide with the one closest to it's core desires.

It chose to fight.

It rounded on the closest of Sunagakure's fighters to it, sinking it's chitinous blades into roils of interposing sand as it attempted to reach Harupia with each twist and scything motion of it's arms. Clearly desperate, there was no other option available to the creature and it's focus on carrying out the most natural course of action that occurred to it created a window for the others. While it focused its attentions on Harupia, the golden-haired man that looked on from several feet away focused on centering the refined, raw power that he'd gathered from each of the other present fighters and waited for his opening. Pebbles and stones levitated around his stance as bright arcs of wild electricity cut through the air around him and carved deep gouges in the stone beneath his feet as he waited and observed.

In between a salvo of earth and fire Ninjutsu, the man found his opening that he'd been waiting for. Crackling foot prints left across the stone surface of the wall in his wake as he moved, the golden-haired man closed the distance between where he'd been waiting in the wings and the creature in the span of a heartbeat and as it recoiled from the latest attack the creature managed to catch notice of the man just as the visual illusion of the after-images he'd created with his movement condensed into a single point and he appeared within striking distance. The first blow was one only intended to maneuver the creature as he toppled S'stuk's a balance which had already been decimated by the attacks of the other fighters and sent the creature careening up into the air which fulfilled two goals. It first and foremost pushed S'stuk away from the wall and ensured that no one else would be in the blast zone for the energy that the man was about to unleash but also...

... it made the creature a convenient target for everyone else, too.

A web of lightning and brilliant golden light trailed around his fingers on his right hand as he straightened upwards and threw a punch into the air towards S'stuk. For just a moment it seemed like nothing would happen but that moment of stillness proved only to be the calm before the storm as with a mighty clap of thunder that shook the very foundations of the wall a brilliant blue and gold beam of clarified power erupted from the air just past the man's knuckles and lanced straight upwards through the air, punching all the way through S'stuk's twisted and horrific form... and then just kept going. The beam continued its path up into the air until it hit the low-hanging cloud cover that had gathered and crashed into it blowing away the dark of the cloud cover which caused the immediate area to be bathed in the moon and starlight of the naked night sky above as the clouds were blown away for thousands of feet all around the epicenter of the decisive attack.

The lance of power comprised of essence belonging to each fighter that had put their lives on the line to defend the city remained present for several seconds before beginning to dwindle into starlight. Visible from quite a distance away from the city and easily from anywhere within the city; the vibrant way it split the sky and seemed to extend from the top of the wall upwards forever into the now cleared night sky allowed for no mistake that the battle was ended and sent a clear message to any observer that found their eyes drawn to its bright light:

Sunagakure would not go quietly into the night.

S'stuk's shattered remains would never make it to the ground. His airborne position combined with the totality of the damage he'd sustained from the golden-haired man's blast made him an easy target as his body began to fall backwards towards the ground now that the force of the attack that had propelled him into the air was faded and no longer suspending him there. Between the bombardment of physical attacks and elemental ninjutsu from the assembled fighters there was nothing left of it's loathsome body but ashes and grim memories of what might have been if the monster hadn't tripped over Haku Ren's trap. With the adrenaline of the fight leaving his body, the man felt the coursing power of his transformed state begin to flood out of his body as well. Like water through his fingertips it slipped through his grasp as he did his best to retain any knowledge that he could about it from the way it felt to the way his senses perceived the world around him but after a few moments had passed and the golden color faded from his hair leaving it the raven black color it had been before the fight had started he could remember naught about it save for the fact that it happened. Like waking from an intense dream, he could only remember that the event had transpired but the details of it were fuzzy and distorted.

Cheers began to go up from the assembled soldiers and fighters which had witnessed the definitive end of the Swarm's ace-in-the-hole as it became clear that there were no more monsters knocking at their door this night. For as far as could be seen the sands before the gates of Sunagakure were devastated; craters of still steaming and burning corpses and sand peppered the landscape as well as the ruined forms of the tremendous siegebreakers but none of that mattered in the moment of victory. The only thing that mattered was that they'd made it. Tomorrow there would be time for counting the casualties and honoring the dead. The Long Night had come and gone and they were still here.

Riyota could hear the impacts, yells, screams, explosions, cries of pain and battle. Far behind him, the dull cry of warfare. He did not turn to look, because those sounds were dwarfed by the vile chittering of a dying beast. The shinobi of Suna didn't need him. He was content to watch for them, and watch he did.

A figure appeared on the hill-top before them, alone, but carrying an ominous presence. If any standing with Riyota tried to move towards it he would put out his hand to stop them. His form radiating authority. He could hear the dying screech of whatever entity had previously breached their defenses. Riyota's eyes were locked with this new being. Whatever it was, their eyes had met, and it would likely remember his face. He stared it down, unflinching even as he stilled his heartbeat to calm himself. His curse seal retreating and his form returning to normal.

He turned away only for a moment, remaining aware of the being's presence. A dead shinobi lay just behind him, they were adorned in one of Sand's banners. "From your Heroism, we could fight, from your sacrifice, we remain free." These were all Riyota could offer as words of rest as he detached the banner from the corpse, fresh bone already emerging from the palm of his hand. He returned to his starting position, his eyes locking to the new presence once again. His bone had fused with the banner, creating a crude and rudimentary flag. Defiantly, he slammed it into the ground. The wind blew wildly for a few moments, the banner of sand flapping in the desert wind. "We do not cower behind our walls. We are as natural to the desert as the sand itself, and we will not bow to you. Report that back." He commanded, the Ranger-Lord standing before Suna's mighty walls.

The being on the hill-top silently turned and walked away. Riyota watched for a few more moments. Nothing else was coming, this battle was finished. Now was their reprieve to bury their dead and to celebrate those that still lived. As he returned to Kasen he looked over to the young Kazu who was standing nearby. Giving him a nod of respect, not respect of a student whom had performed well, but of a warrior to another warrior. For all the skills in the world, what Riyota valued most was courage.

His demeanour softened when he looked upon his love. The defiant eyes of the soldier turned to the adoring eyes of a lover almost instantly. He moved towards her, checking her up and down for any injuries. When he found nothing major he shook his head and grinned, chuckling slightly. "I'm not sure why I was worried..." He murmured quietly before returning to meet her gaze. "Last chance to back out of what you said or you're stuck with me forever." He offered, not wanting Kasen to be stuck with any regrets.

If she stuck to her guns and kept to what she had said in the heat of battle Riyota would return her affections with a kiss before attending to the grim duty of body collecting. During this morbid task however, he would use his mastery over the element of steel to chakra-carve a small bit of the wall in order to craft his fiancee a nigh-unbreakable ring. Hopefully nobody would notice.

Once all was said and done and the bodies had been recovered he would request the rangers to form up on him. He would check their numbers, noting that a lot of the ground troops had been lost, and a few of the archers. "I know my sudden appointment probably came as a bit of a shock to you, and I'm almost certain there are those amongst you more deserving of this position than I. Despite that, I just wanted to say...it was an honour to fight with you all today. You should be proud, of yourselves, dismissed."

In an instant the forces of Sunagakure were upon this chitinous foe, save but a few preoccupied individuals. Teke, truly an esteemed apprentice fully deserving of an elevated position among the Anbu, was first to strike. Watching her vividly powerful and exciting lightning abilities Kaen's mind was quick to develop a similar concept. It was created to allow Kaen to span the enormous gap between himself and the wall which S'stuk defiantly stood upon. Normally it would have taken him more time than he could spare if he were to simply run across the battlefield to engage it, but even with his super human shinobi speed he would not have made it in time. In his fervor compulsion to fight to his heart's content he had found himself overextended into the enemy's side. But this idea would serve it's purpose, and so he began to run towards the wall.

While Kaen was exceptionally proficient in the ways of fire and flame, lightning was a different matter. Though Kaen could perform the other elements with relative ease, he was not on the same level in which allowed him to freely use it at his discretion. He would need his hands to perform the necessary seals required of this powerful technique. As he ran he gripped his sword with unwavering strength and then leaped into the air, throwing his sword into the stormy clouds crackling above. Weaving through his handseals with such speed and precision it could possibly put a Seikon to shame. In the span of less than a second Kaen performed this incredible feat and aimed to give the phrase 'ride the lightning' an entirely new meaning. A bolt of lightning extended from Kaen's outstretched hand and met the clouds above. Kaen's form seemed to magically vanish, but he was not lost.

The gloomy, shadowy clouds above Suna's great wall suddenly twisted and warped as Kaen's transportation was executed. Infused with Kaen's fiery aura the clouds changed to a reddish hue, accompanied with similarly shaded bolts of lightning. They came crashing down upon S'stuk, along with Kaen's surprising appearance with the bolts of electricity. Through the incredible abilities of his most mysterious armor-like contract 'beast', his massive great-sword accompanied him in the teleportation-like technique. But he was not done. Using the massive momentum built up upon his return, Kaen channeled the powerful lightning through his sword and struck S'stuk true and hard. The armor-laden enemy was no match for this incredible strike and recoiled backwards in apparent pain. This gave the unknown storm chasing warrior the perfect opportunity to follow through and give a most decisive blow that would spell S'stuk's demise.

Although the battle seemed to be won, executed with an incredible force that even put Kaen in a momentary state of awe and wonder, he would not stop here. Regenerative abilities were not unheard of, Kaen himself had even dabbled in these arts at one point in time which had saved his own life when a bullet decided to enter his head. Sense then it appeared he had lost that ability, the bullet most likely to blame. And so despite the massive damage done to S'stuk the Sunan forces, and Kaen, continued their onslaught upon the Unbent 'child' that was being suspended in air by the continuous flow of jutsu hitting his helpless body. Raising his massive blade into the air he would begin to channel his Ancient affinity into the weapon, the immediate area around him instantly being ignited and illuminated the vicinity near him. This appeared to be the final foe for them to face this night, and so Kaen poured as much of his available power as he could spare into this final attack. Chakra seemed to come to life in a most stunning and energetic fashion as bolts of energy crackled around him in a display of power. The fiery sword exploded with phenomenal power, it's power extending an aura of flame past the bounds of the metal sword.

Upon releasing the incredible force of energy stored up in his blade, the wave of power started the chain reaction of jutsu that collided with the suspended S'stuk. When the dust settled it appeared as if nothing at all remained of the Unbent assassin except ash at best. Though Kaen did enjoy himself to some degree, the night seemed to leave him with a bitter taste in his mouth. He couldn't help but feel as if this war was the Unbent's probing forces and were second rate at best. With the amount of intel gathered on them, and the rumors and stories that had spread throughout Wind Country, he was sure there was more to come. With more numbers and more powerful individuals like S'stuk, they would return. Kaen only wondered if the forces of Suna would brave that fateful day as well. Looking over the wall and gazing upon the battlegrounds below his hopes did not soar beyond reproach. So many lay dead buried beneath sand, water, stone or simply massive piles of Unbent Swarms. They would need to hone their skills, ascend to greater heights and culminate a degree of prowess that rivaled that of Mother Suna herself if they were to survive the next attempt. Dominus himself was not even present, so how could this be anything more than a first strike in a line of many more to come?

Kaen watched on as Riyota, his soon to be commander of the Ranger Order, gave an invigorating, but shortsighted speech to his forces. These people had nothing to be proud about, made evident in the vast amount of dead that were lost this night. More would come, stronger and more fierce than this feeble display of Unbent power. But he understood the reasoning behind it. The common man seemed to live off praise, whether it was false or not. Easily disheartened and weak in spirit, they almost required praise in order to find strength to carry on. He only hoped that they would find the will to rise above their current condition and prepare as if Dominus himself was on his way. For if they did not... Mother Suna help us all.

Where one might have heard the cries and sounds of a raging battle around them, Kasen could only hear the sound of rushing water in her ears. As she stood atop Same, watching those in battle kamikaze themselves towards the monster that threatened the very safety of Suna. She could tell she would not make it to the frontlines in time to do anything to fight off the giant creature, having been too invested in taking down the behemoths before and seeing Riyota for what could have potentially been the late time for either of them. Same came to a halt, allowing Kasen to slide off of her back. The two stood, only a handful of feet away from the position they had just left Riyota from, and saw as the giant beast fell to the might of Suna. A huge blast of energy and several ignited strikes of fire and lighting clashed into it, giving it no chance to process what had happened to it. Despite looking the opposite way, Kasen felt a chill run up her spine. She turned and saw a looming form in the distance. Observing, waiting, witnessing. Kasen could not make out solid details of this presence, but she could feel it's gaze pierce into her and those that stood around her. She found that she could not look away, despite it leaving her with a sense of unease; as if it was looking into her very soul. She stared for a good while, long enough for the battlecries behind her to die down into uproarious cheers. What distracted her crystalline dragon appearing next to her. It had done well, but as with all things, it could not stay sentient forever. Kasen reached her hand out, placing her forehead against its own as a thank you before her chakra that had been sustaining it withered away and the crystals it had formed from crumbled around her. Kasen, with a forlorn look, reached down and picked up the crystal that had become one of it's eyes. It was an ebony crystal, as smooth as glass, with that shimmered red in certain lighting. She wanted to remember all those that had participated on this day, most importantly the ones that were lost, whether human or creation.

When next she turned back, the creature had gone. The chilling feeling had not yet retreated from her, and despite this victory, it did not feel like one. As one whom had suffered at the hands of false successes, there was almost always the anticipation of waiting for the suspended pin to drop. Perhaps it was subconscious anxieties, but she would still address her concerns with the other oracles who were likely documented everything to analyze at a later time. A moment later, Kasen heard footsteps approaching her. Her eyes drifted to see Riyota, his normal self once again, looking at her with a look of relief. One that had been much different from the time prior. Go get your man! A second later, Kasen willed Same out of existence with the dismissal of a flick of her wrist. The massive shark splashed into a large pool of water, disappearing from the battlefield as her form was fully reunited with Kasen's once again. No need to get testy. Kasen could still hear the shark's coyness inside her head. Same approved of Riyota highly, but she also loved to tease Kasen mercilessly about it. Still, Kasen could never find it in her heart to truly ever be upset with the maternal shark figure.

As Riyota reached her, she couldn't help but smile as her now physical, non liquidated form was inspected for any sign of harm she may have endured. Luckily, it was quite difficult to harm the embodiment of water. She could still suffer pain, yes, but her ability to reform was very helpful. "No need to worry. All my limbs are intact." Kasen winked at him, knowing that he would understand her comment was in jest considering she found his form quite attractive. When asked if she still wanted to commit to her offer, Kasen's brows knit together. It was rare that she said things that she did not mean, but she knew he was being polite to not hold her accountable for things that were said during an adrenaline rush. She felt she needed to solidify her statement somehow. Looking down at the crystal eye of her dragon, Kasen molded the composition with her chakra in a small ring. It wasn't anything flashy, just a small circle made of obsidian; the flecks of red still visible when the ring was turned from side to side. Kasen reached out, holding Riyota's hand in hers, as she placed the ring into his hand and closed his fingers around it. "I want to spend my life with you, if you'll have me." Her actions and face of determination must have been enough, for he swiftly planted a kiss on her lips, grime and all. In that moment, Kasen felt like everything finally made sense, and things would be ok, as long as they were together. She couldn't stop smiling when they pulled away. She understood that there was still much to attend to and watched as the Ranger Commander addressed his comrades.

Staying back, Kasen looked on at the many that were collecting the dead and trying to collect themselves from the vigorous fighting. They were proud, and they had won, but they were tired, and injured, and mourning the losses of their friends and family. Kasen was not able to heal the wounds left by deeply emotional impact, but she could help their bodies recover. That was how she could give back. Calling forth the blood of the fallen, Kasen used her specialization in the healing properties of water to purify the blood, and watched it erupt into a thing haze of translucent mist around the large crowd. Perhaps with all the rain it would not be noticeable, but any who breathed it in would feel the healing properties and a sense of calm wash over them. "Though they are gone, let their sacrifice be known. For each of you will carry a part of them with you, and they will live on in the legacy of those that prevailed." She said it in such a quiet whisper, one meant only to be heard by herself, that it ended up sounded more like a prayer than a statement.

While many shinobi were staying on the field to follow up with their officers or gather themselves, Kasen knew that she would be needed elsewhere and that many reports were going to need to be made to the medical facilities and the Oracles library alike. Perhaps it would be wise to invest in discovering the identity of the being that stood atop the hill. Moment later, Kasen disappeared into the crowd, eager to get started.

For a brief few moments, Harupia was in a situation he hadn't been in for quite a while, a one on one dual with what could most likely be considered a leader of the opposing force, or at least one of their elite warriors. He could feel it in its moments and attacks as he was stuck in a melee, seeing the blades slide out of its body and the flurry of blows the following suit. He had managed to dodge them, both by his own skill, and by the will of the land, his sands protecting him, but he could see how easily it cut through his defenses. One wrong move could have been his end. But he managed to stay safe, and his clone, with the lighting fast aid of one of the Shinobi near the wall, managed to Keep Ren safe. So he could go all out, pouring his rage and power into one might blow.

And as strong as it was, he could see it wasn't enough. Even as his concentrated sand storm ripped parts of the wall and the flesh of the being into bits, it seemed to regrow it. His skin and insect-like armor seemed to be resistant in general. This would have been a grueling battle had he been stuck in a one on one battle, he knew enough to realize that. Fortunately, he was not alone.

Some of the villages finest had come to the aid after Ren sent the Signal. Brilliant flames both from Red-haired warriors englued its form, A blast of pure lightning wielded by the Kazekages adopted daughter punched into him. And the lone Blonde warrior, moving almost to fast for the eye to see, whizzed past the insectoids defense, striking him once, seemingly to throw him up into the air...and than he did it. He could feel the energy buildup. Throughout the battle, he could have sworn he felt something. It was different than his chakra being drained, more like, the residue of his sloppy performance or misuse of power was being absorbed. And now he could see it, feel it. The power of all the Sunan who risked their lives, concentrated into one, immense blow.

Harupia was never a fan of combat but...this was what made him love Ninjutsu. As terrifying as the displays were, there was a beauty in harnessing the raw power and bending it to you will, using it to protect those you held dear. And the attacks here were a reflection of that, of people fighting for the village. In spite of hardships coming at them again and again, seemingly more harrowing than the ones before, they had the power to do this.

He could see the infiltrator's body, with all its hardened shell and regenerative abilities, not able to withstand the sheer destructive power and the consuming flame eating away at its flesh. After all this, it was over... they have one. With a heavy price, no doubt. Even from where he was he could see the damage of the all and gates, the bodies of those fallen. He could see a mist spreading over the fields before the gates, he assumed it must have been the work of the head of the Medics... Oh my, they and Riyota seemed to be rather close didn't they?

He smiled to himself before turning around to the rest of those standing atop the gate before a realization came to him.

Mood Music
Teke, the member of the Anbu, adopted Daughter oft he Steward. The fiery Kaen, a man he fought alongside defeating an ancient evil, and who now burnt a foe he couldn't quite flinch to a crisp. The young Raizo, chosen by Sosuke as the next true Kage, his flames different than Kean's but just as bright and powerful. The mysterious blonde man...he had no idea who he was but he looked young and full of energy. And there stood him. Even if his...body allowed him to hide the fact, time was flying by, faster and faster. And what did he have to show for it? A somewaht successful track record of missions, a selection of arts he never really showed to many people, family responsibilities he managed to navigate himself away from for so long... The shame of leaving his village in a time of crucial repair for what, to seek power to defend it better? To hide the shame he couldn't to more to help back than? The anger that what he did seemed to go on unnoticed? The work he put in after he came back, becoming an Oracle, teaching students, trying to help in the less fortunate among the village. Part of it he knew was trying to hide the simple act he was grwoing older, had managed to miss many paths and Opportunites of his life...and before him stood those who would carry on to serve and protect the village after he as gone...perhaps better than him.

The dark thoughts that plagued him for a while now, filled with the dying adrenaline rush filled his head, doubt, fear, anger colliding in his head. But even with all that, there was one though that tried to Shine through, as he quickly glanced to the side at Ren, the brave student who used all her power to let them know of the threat. Maybe she'd be saved by the other...but he managed to get there first, he managed to keep her safe. He was there...he was still here. He thought more as he approached the girl, offering to help her stand up and move. He was there...Still standing, still alive, in spite of his own foolishness and fates twists and turns. Could he make up for the mistakes he made along the way? It wasn't really for him to decide...but it was his duty to put in the effort to try. Just as Sosuke said, this wasn't the first longest night. Given their foes, it probably wouldn't be the last. And he'd stand here, with his family and friends. He couldn't run...and he didn't want to.

He'd move forward...one step at a time...settling things that should have been long ago. Learning what he needed to still...and helping whoever needed it. He wasn't the young freshly minted Jounin trying to enjoy life with little responsibility anymore...and he wasn't the wise Sage of the Likes of Kuro or Judori. But he had time, and he had a purpose. He approached those fighters still gathered on the wall, his own clothes tattered and shredded, some light wounds covering his body as he said to them there "We did well today. It was a hard fight...but we showed them what we can do. All of us" he said with a smile, turning towards Ren, whether she went along with him or decided to stay behind "This is probably the last battle in this war... But we showed them the power of our people. And we'll keep showing them, untill the last of them is vanquished by our might. You all showed me this today" he paused, looking at his hand and raising it before them, his sand spirling around it "And rest assured, as long as I draw breath, I'll make sure you all do, and those who threaten you will be stoped"

Step by step, the boy forced his legs to move. Rain pelted him — tiny needles scrubbing away the ooze and muck of thick green blood that coated his entire figure — making his limbs feel numb, cold, and rigid. 'I feel like death,' the boy thought, in-between labored breaths, 'if death was a glorious rider in the night.' Despite it all, his mind practically sang in rejoice; the pounding of his heart in his ears set the boy's brain abuzz. He had given it his all, held nothing back, and left everything he could give on that battlefield. His body vibrated in ecstacy.

When the call to fall back to the gate came, Kazu very nearly pushed himself past all his reasonable limits to charge whatever monster had thought to slip past the frontlines and attack their gates directly. Before he could so much as move, however, the other more senior forces around him had charged the creature. A man with golden hair delivered a devastating blow of lightning. The flame-haired Kaen, along with his mystical suit of armor summon, summoned all manner of elemental attacks to vaporize the wounded creature. Cousin Raizo was there too, striking efficiently and devastatingly enough to claim all manner of honor for their clan. Another shinobi bent the sands around him to defend the girl, Haku Ren, who had saved them all from certain catastrophe, then continued to strike at the foe. Still more shinobi, too many faces to know them all, struck with fury and poise — whatever sort of creature it had been, there was no way it could have been prepared for this onslaught. Knowing that the battle was finished, Kazu allowed himself a moment of rest and recooperation — for the young boy, that was a difficult task.

Kazu surveyed the destruction all around him. The carnage. Countless shinobi lay dead atop the sands, but countless more Unbent did as well. They had given their all to defend their home and their families — Kazu burned the sight into his mind. He could not forget these people, these heroes, who had fought alongside him to protect what was precious. 'I will carry on, for your sake. Your sacrifices will not have been in vain.' Those responsible for this tragedy would not be left without retribution either; this, Kazu promised himself.

As his gaze swept across the landscape, the boy felt...something...watching. Off in the distance, very far from all the action, stood a monstrous figure that seemed a mockery of humanity. Thick, chitanous, armor covered its entire form, and the boy could see four eyes looking out towards the scene of the battle. It did not look directly at Kazu — following its gaze, Kazu noticed Auntie Kasen and a man whom he recognized as the Ranger Commander standing directly in its line of sight and staring back at the creature — but Kazu was looking at it. 'There's more of them,' thought Kazu, bitterly, 'and they are taking notes.' The worst of this conflict was not over. Yes, they had won the battle today and survived the Long Night; but, the war was far from concluded. His mind raced. Kazu could feel his body begin to vibrate, again, and even thought of chasing after this lone creature.

But then, he heard a sound. The sound of repudiation, of a banner being thrust into the ground. Not far from him stood Kasen and the Ranger Commander; close enough, even, for Kazu to hear him call out, "We do not cower behind our walls. We are as natural to the desert as the sand itself, and we will not bow to you. Report that back." The creature did not respond to the challenge, simply departing silently, yet that in and of itself sent a message. All of his rash thoughts floated away; the young boy would not disrespect his Commander's resolve with his rashness. Kazu watched his Commander, watching the creature's exit, with something akin to awe and reverence. Just as he had looked up to Kasen as a figure of empathy and compassion, he looked up to this man as a figure of strength and resolve. 'I want to be like that, one day.' Almost as if the man were responding to Kazu's thoughts, he turned to lock eyes with the boy — and nodded with respect at him!

Pride swelled up in the boy. The feeling of battle, which he'd just previously thought was the height of pleasure he'd ever experienced, paled compared to this. 'He acknowledged me!' Kazu did his best to not be embarressed, to let the feeling show on his face, but the boy was, surely, visibly moved by the gesture. 'Maybe...maybe I can be like that too, one day!' One of the hardest things Kazu had ever done was to, in that moment, simply nod back in the same way. It took every modicum of his willpower not to bow before the man.

A voice crackled in the air from the direction of the walls. The Steward's voice. ”Sungakurian forces, this is the Lord Steward. Communications are back up, it seemed that some channels are fried due to our enemy. Those still on the front lines head back. We have survived the Long Night. We need to tend to each other and the time for healing begins.” Kazu came crashing back to Ninpocho from his little trip into the clouds just now. 'There's still work to do.' Besides, Kazu could tell that his Commander and Auntie Kasen needed a moment — he turned his back on them and left, heading back towards the wall.

Passing dead everywhere, Kazu did his part to clear the battlefield. It was grim work, but it had to be done. Besides, he saw that the Ranger Commander had not yet left the field either; he would not allow himself to leave before that man did. When all was said, and done, and his Commander called all the Rangers together for one last word, Kazu tried his absolute best not to get all sappy. And yet, with the man's parting words, Kazu's respect for the man only grew deeper. Proudly saluting the man as they all dispersed, Kazu couldn't help but smile — albiet sadly — over the events which had transpired.

'I've found myself a true home, haven't I? With every fiber of my being, I will protect it. Whatever the cost, whatever the sacrifice, I will be there until the end for these people. I swear it on my blood, my name, and my honor.'
