Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

"Potential, huh?" A wide smirk had made its way onto the young man's face, betraying deep down his amusement with this verbal game of theirs. It was getting rather fun, though it seemed that neither of them really seemed to be homing in on the subject that mattered: what did they, both, truly want from this? They were circling around each other, looking for weakness in the other where none seemed to exist. Perhaps they each thought that they would be able to gain without giving, and in doing so come out on top. Kotsuko could respect a man like this, a man who could play this most interesting game so absolutely. "Well, I appreciate the offer very much. Such a cheat code certainly is a rare opportunity. However, I'd like for you to clear one little thing up for me." Kotsuko's smirk was gone now, replaced with a stern and business-like look. While the young man did enjoy this game, he knew they'd have to move faster than this. If they were to get anywhere, one of them would need to move forward. When dealing with another master of the game, it was best to give up a bit of ground so as to see what move he'll make. From there, perhaps more steps could be made. They had moved into the late-game here. "It sounds like I'm getting the best deal here. What exactly is it you're getting out of this arrangement?"

Kotsuko began to pace around the small platform they had. His eyes wandered around them, looking to various parts of the mountains as he contemplated his words. The crisp air was refreshing, to say the least. "You must need me for some kind of research, otherwise you wouldn't be exposing yourself like this. Probably something illegal, given these odd offers." Scratching the back of his head, Kotsuko looked to the tanuki man for some answers. He'd given up some ground with the man, so it was time for this loan shark to be a bit more frank with Kotsuko as well. "I'm not going to rat you out. I've got my own agenda to keep in motion, and having a bunch of ANBU sniffing around everything I do doesn't help me much. If you've got some sort of operation going on, you'd do best to tell me the full scope of it. Otherwise, I'm not going to be able to help you all that well." Kotsuko would stare the man down for a little, trying to see into that red-haired head of his. What was going on behind those glasses?

Whatever it was, the tanuki would surely tell him in time. Turning around, Kotsuko began up the hills again. Kechi was right, they did still have a bird to catch. Kotsuko figured that the man could tell him everything on the way. It's not like they couldn't walk and talk, right?

The young Ko simply sat in his seat, sipping his hot beverage as he eyed the two sitting across the room from him. He couldn't put his finger on it, but he felt a strange familiarity to this situation. He wasn't quite sure what it was, but something seemed off to him. Pondering the situation, Ko noticed an odd insect hovering around him. He went to swat it away, only for him to realize a second later that he knew this species. His eyes quickly homed in on its movements as he observed it closely. This was a kikaichu, the signature bug of the Aburame Clan. The young boy had done research on them before, so he remembered their anatomy and distinct features very well. Keeping it in sight, the young man would bring a small and unnoticeable tendril of his iron sand out to intercept the bug, ensnaring it in a small and hollow sand sphere. It would be cut off from whoever was the original host of this particular bug, meaning the young man wouldn't quite be detected yet. Just as he was about to bring it closer to him so that he could examine it, though, the younger boy who was talking with the shadow man seemed to get up and walk away. He spoke a little loudly, just enough so that Ko could hear that they were talking about medical issues. Did this man require a physician? Interesting, the young man thought to himself. Taking another sip of his drink, the young man wondered how best to approach this man. If he was to do it, now would be the time. His hand closed around the iron bubble he'd made to ensnare the kikai that had wandered too close, and he remembered quite quickly what it was he needed to do. Just because the seat was open, doesn't mean he was home free—there was an Aburame around here, and Kotsuko needed to find out who. He would need to track down the source of these insects, and determine who it was that was so interested in him. Setting the little bauble down, the young man knew the kind of strategy he would take. He hid a handseal underneath the table, releasing his magnetic chakra in powerful waves.

From the gourds he kept around the back of his waist, small streams of iron sand began to slither up and dissipate. This sand was smooth, fine, and above all incredibly tiny. It wouldn't be easy to notice it right away. Spreading his sand out, the young man was going to find his hidden Aburame friend with a little ninjutsu magic of his. He would coat the room with his iron sand, leaving no space unfilled with his weapon of choice. The T.V.s in the tavern would crackle and change color from all the magnetic chakra around them, their colors distorting into a brilliant rainbow hue as any of the magnetic chakra drew close enough. Closing his eyes, the young man would activate a technique of his that would allow him to see the surrounding area's metals—he intended to use the area where there wasn't any metal to see specific shapes and people. With this active, he could precisely pinpoint the location of even a small kikaichu flying back to its host. As he searched around the room, though, something strange became apparent to him: there was a person still sitting across from the shadow man. But, he'd seen the younger boy leave...

Something was wrong here. Ko wasn't quite sure what, but he knew something was wrong. There was still someone there with the shadow man, and for some reason he couldn't see him. This definitely getting more interesting. Opening his eyes, the young man brought all of the sands back towards himself. Sealing them back into his carrying gourds, Ko finished the last of his drink as he got up from his tables. He ignored the bewildered looks of patrons complaining about the T.V.'s now off-color screen, and walked straight towards the table with the shadow man. He had a grin on his face as he faced this mysterious figure and spoke. "Pardon me, but I couldn't help but overhear your conversation earlier. I think I might be able to help you. Do you mind if I join you?" Ko's eyes slid to the side, looking directly at where the figure he'd detected, but couldn't see, were. "Well, you and your friend that is." He decided to try something bold, perhaps to unnerve and keep them on their toes. Not waiting long for an answer, the young man sat himself down next to the invisible man as he placed his coat on the hangar just outside their booth. Settling into his seat, Ko began again. "Would anyone like to explain why I can't see the person sitting next to me? Or should I assume we merely have a phantom guest? I'd rather be talking one on one with you, my dear friend." Kotsuko addressed his last sentence at the shadow man directly. He was eager to hear what this man wanted, and how he wanted it. It wasn't often a man like this was seen in the village, so the young man wanted very much to see what his goals and methods were. Perhaps he could be of use to the young man.

The procedure was routine, as usual. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, nor did the man have any sort of major injuries. Ko would merely heal his wounds, and finish up with the procedure. The young boy noticed, while he was healing the Mochizuki, that Tomo seemed a tad uncomfortable because of the young man's unorthodox methods. It made the young boy smirk a tad bit, seeing a grown man so afraid. Chuckling to himself, the young boy would finish with the procedure—extracting all of the iron sand from his patient's system, Ko would store it back within the gourds with which they originally came from. "Well then, it seems you've got nothing major wrong. I'll just patch up this incision, and you can be on your way." True to his word, the young boy would hold his hand just over the small cut in the older man's arm. However, as soon as he had done so, the Mochizuki leapt up and promptly made his exit. As he walked out of the room, without so much as a passing remark to the young man, Kotsuko could only chuckled about the situation. "How can a man like that be a shinobi? Scared of a little sand? Please."

Kotsuko's feelings aside, the man had done good for Kotsuko. He was one more patient that the young doctor could cross off of his list, which meant he was one step closer to a promotion. Higher status meant more access to the higher ranking techniques, and more ability to do research more extensive subjects. He merely picked up his clipboard, crossed off Tomo's name, and stood up from his seat. Leaving the room, and closing the door behind him, Kotsuko strolled off down the hall towards his next patient. Why couldn't this day just end already?

So far, the treatment was going well. The two of them, together, and been doing rather well in encouraging new skeletal growth in the young woman. It meant she wasn't going to die here, which was definitely good news. Kotsuko still had to study her, after all, and corpses gave away so much less information than living subjects. Besides, it wouldn't do for a woman to die on his watch—he'd be put on Kitsune's watch-list again. So, as Kotsuko slaved over the dying woman before him, he was glad to see that their efforts were not in vain. "Good work, erm...uh, what was your name again?" Kotsuko never was one for being good at remembering names.

As the healing continued, however, something suddenly changed. Ko felt it immediately, and completely ignored any words his companion might have said. He turned to the Mochizuki woman, feeling a shift in the tide of their struggle. Her bones were growing faster now, seeming to indicate that they were growing on their own. This would have been wonderful news, on any other occasion. However, given the fact that the Mochizuki woman had just absorbed the bloodline of a Kaguya, this might not be the bet thing for them. If her bones were regrowing on their own, she was gaining control of her abilities. And yet, she didn't seem to show any signs of calming down just yet. A rampaging bloodline user was not a good thing, especially not a bloodline as deadly as the Kaguya. "Get back! She's gaining control of her abilities!" Kotsuko would push the younger boy out of the way first, then moved to get out of the way himself. He quickly would try to rush he iron sand out of her body, without regard for tearing apart any flesh, as she would merely grow it back instantly. He would try to use the sand to protect himself. It would be too late, though, because not a second later the woman's body would release a maelstrom of spiked protrusions from all over her body. Kotsuko probably could have dodged them, if he really tried. But that would be against the point. With a gleeful twinkle in his eye, one of the bones would pierce his right leg. A grunt of pain escaped his mouth, but the display of pain was short lived.

Bringing forth a small bit of the iron sand, the young man collected it into a thin, spinning disk. Extending his hand into an open palm, the young man would have the disk hover over his fingertips as it begun to pick up speed. With little effort, Ko brought the make-shift saw down onto the extended bone. Freeing himself, the woman's bone was still stuck in his leg as he backed away from her. A grin spread across his face as he began to stop his own bleeding, his prize still lodged deep into his flesh. "Well, that was certainly painful." He didn't have time for celebration, though. The situation was just beginning to unfold.

Pretty soon, the entanglement of bones began to calm down. They would start to coalesce, drawing closer into the woman's body as if they were some sort of shield. She was trying to protect herself? The young Ko looked on in awe, wondering what mysteries and secrets he might be able to unlock from this woman. He had all the puzzle pieces he'd need. The bone. The blood on his sand. He had everything he needed to unlock her every secret. He wasn't the kind of man to do so much work to help someone else, and not get anything in return. He was a man that knew what his time was worth, and he fully expected to be rewarded for his efforts. This time, the woman would be paying with her secrets, whether she knew it or not. All he needed now was for her to wake up and he could keep this whole operation under wraps, disguised as a genuine attempt to make sure she was healthy and okay. He turned to his readers, smirking at them, "You know, I'm not sure what else you would have expected. I'm not a nice person, you know."

Soon enough, Ko had his wish. The plate-mail of bone receded, revealing a vulnerable and oddly different Mochizuki Tama. When she had come to, something about her seemed different. Her words were more...proper? But at the same time, they weren't. It was weird. Nothing about the woman was making sense, but that wasn't what Ko was mostly concerned with. With a smile on his face, the young doctor greeted the awakening woman as he clutched the wound on his right leg. "Very nice to see you awake again, Miss Tama. I take it everything went well?" Ko's smile turned to a grimace, though, as his hand brushed over the bone still stuck in his leg. Gripping it with one hand, he gave the woman a weak smile. "Just one second, ma'am." With a single yank, he pulled the bone clean out of his leg. Covering the wound with his right hand, Ko immediately began to pour out chakra into his wound, stopping the bleeding and repairing the skin and muscle tissue. He didn't need a perfect healing right now, just enough to be able to walk. Gripping the blood covered bone in his other hand, Ko looked back up at the Mochizuki. "All good over here. What concerns me more is whether you're okay." With a gilded smile on his face, Kotsuko tried to stand himself up on his uninjured leg. He seemed okay. Mostly.

Limping over to the counter, Ko grabbed two plastic bags. In the first, he deposited the bloodied bone. He'd have to clean it off to get his blood off of it, so it doesn't mess with his tests later. In the second, he stashed a small amount of the bloodied iron sand. With this, he'd have all the information he'd need to figure out everything he needed about this woman's DNA. Turning back to the little doctor and the woman, he gave them both a smile. "Going to need these for the medical report. Just need to run some tests to make sure everything's okay. Wouldn't want there to be any unnoticed complications with this process, right?" He'd tuck the bags into his coat pocket as he walked towards the woman, offering a slightly bloodied hand to her. "Come, shall we get you to that hospital bed?"

"Hrm, I see." Ko was fairly confident, now, as to what kind of man he was dealing with here. Kechi was not a man that he need fear all that much—at least, not yet. He was a man fuelled by only one thing, and so long as he was given that he would be happy. It seemed that all he really wanted was for Kotsuko to clue him in on anything that could get the man money. Well, that was fine with the young man. After all, he had never really been in this business because of the money. He was here for the research and knowledge, and that was about where he ended his involvement. It might even be apt to say that Kechi and Kotsuko were alike, seeing as how they were each driven by really only one thing. The tanuki was an agent of greed, and Ko was a harbinger of curiosity. What was the phrase? Birds of a feather? "Fair enough, Kechi. I understand your proposal quite clearly, as it stands. Just so long as you keep up your end of the deal, we shouldn't have any real problems." It was then that the man would tell Kotsuko of a certain frequency channel that he should use to contact him, should the need arise. It seemed a little too old-fashioned, to the point of predictability, but that wasn't really Kotsuko's call to make. He would merely have to be extra careful, making sure not to arouse any suspicion until they could establish a better means of signalling each other.

There was something else, though. Something else was bothering the young man about this whole situation, making him curious and unsure about how much he really felt like he could trust the other man's words. They were still climbing, now, as Kotsuko asked his question. "I think it's obvious that you rigged those results earlier so that you could talk with me about this. How long have you been meaning to tell me about this proposal?" Kotsuko eyed the other man when asking this question, stopping with his climb in order to fully look at Kechi. "This isn't some scheme you just hatched together. Anyone else in on this that I should know about? Or is all of this classified until you can trust me?" Letting out a sigh, Kotsuko had a feeling he knew the answer to that question already. The man probably wouldn't be talking any time soon, and would probably just divert the questions or something. Maybe a different tactic was in order? Brushing his hair out of his eyes, Kotsuko would turn back to start walking up the mountain as he asked this one. "Are we actually still looking for this bird still? Or was this always just a business trip for you?" Kotsuko loved the idea of hunting and catching a rare bird such as this. However, he wouldn't be able to do it with a partner who didn't care. If Kechi was going to back out now, Kotsuko might as well just wait until next time. He'd just have to see what happened.

As the two of them drank, toasting their reunion and their futures, Ko couldn't help but smile. The two of them clinked their glasses, then turned their heads back with the drinks. Taking in a breath as he put his glass down, he listened to his partner in crime speaking. Fate, huh? Kotsuko wasn't sure how to put how he felt into words, and certainly not after tonight. Everything he'd ever believed in about fate had sort of been crushed by this chance meeting. Still, he needed to give her an adequate response. "Fate is tricky. Do I think that my whole life is laid out in front of me, decided already before I've had any time to give my input? Yes and no." Ko chuckled a little at his vagueness. He probably sounded silly. "I mean, my decisions in the past affected every other decision I'd make after that. I decided to be a shinobi, and because of that I'll never be able to grow up like other kids. I decided to join the medical corps, and because of that I'll never know what might have happened if I'd given up and inherited my father's merchant shop. Likewise, my actions now will affect me in the future. If there is such a thing as fate, it's one that I can control. My fate is the result of my choices, good and bad." He looked down at his glass, almost as if it were some sort of crystal ball. Maybe if he looked hard enough, he'd be able to see what words he'd need to say in order to get his point across. So far, all he saw was the reflected lights of the bar. "I guess what I'm saying is, I don't know what the chances of meeting you tonight under other circumstances are. I went to the ball tonight, and so did you. Because of that, we met there. In a way, those choices sealed our fates just as permanently as any Seer might have foretold."

Jeez, this was getting deep. Ko poured himself another glass just after Chiyoko, matching her pace without a moment's hesitation. She continued her line of questions, keep the topic just as alive an interesting as it was. Ko felt his heart beat a little bit faster, as he began to realize where this subject was headed. He was getting nervous again, but this time he had enough alcohol in his system to ignore it. Well, after this next glass he would. Drinking his shochu rather quickly, the young man answered her question without a moment's hesitation. "I don't think the fact that we're both still alive is a coincidence. We're alive because we have what it takes to make it out there. We're both strong, able to handle whatever comes our way. We've got something that our fallen classmates don't have." And then, she just had to add the icing on top of the cake. This was beyond special. His face was getting a little red, but he couldn't quite tell if it was because of the alcohol or not. Considering it had only been two drinks now, he probably wouldn't be getting away with that excuse. "I think it is. But I also think it's more than special." Ko was glad to have the alcohol in his system right now, otherwise he'd never have worked up the courage to do something like this. The pale haired young man, with his face's red colour in direct contrast to his usually cold features, reached out with one of his hands to place onto her's on the bar top. It felt soft, yet callused from the years of hard training she'd been through. His probably felt similar to her. "I think the thing we have, that everyone else doesn't have, is a reason to keep going. A strong one, too." He didn't move his hand.

The young man swallowed nervously. He wasn't immune to infatuation, despite popular belief that he wasn't human. He still had feelings, and for her he had a myriad of them. Kotsuko could feel his heart beating a million miles an hour. His hands would be shaking if he hadn't had a few drinks first. Kotsuko brought his hand up to her face, just like he had earlier. He caressed her face, gently rubbing his fingers over her cheeks and the side of her face. "You know, I've never felt like this before. I don't think you have either. The two of us...I kind of like it..." The young man didn't know what it was that compelled him to act the way he was. He didn't really know what it was that he was doing. He wasn't thinking straight. But he didn't care. He was guided by another force, something more primal than he'd ever felt. All he knew was that he wanted her, and no one else. Kotsuko leaned in towards her, closing his eyes for the first kiss he'd ever had. He hoped, with every fiber of his being, that she wanted the same thing.

BGM: A Promising Lead

"What the hell?" Ko couldn't help but look on in excitement as the events unfolded in front of him. This was not what he had expected to get out of this visit, nor did he think there were many doctors who would know what it was they were looking at here. But Ko knew. Where the other doctors might have shirked away from some of the darker material, instead preferring to focus solely on helping people, Ko was more than willing to make the plunge into some of the less pleasant subjects of research. Hours had gone by, late at night, when he would pour over various medical texts theorizing about obscure and unnatural Ninjutsu. It was something integral to the man's point of being here, having access to all of these resources. What Kotsuko saw before him was most likely something straight out of those texts: the Earth Grudge Fear technique. The young man pulled himself together just enough to reach up to his headset and click the transmitter on as he turned away to speak. His voice was slightly unsteady for a second before it regained its normal tone. "Clear my schedule for the next few hours. I have something else to attend to." The speaker seemed to crackle for a second as someone on the other end responded. It didn't sound good. The young man waited a second before he turned back to face his patient, a grave and intense look on his face. "No, this can't wait. Excuse me." With that Ko removed his finger from the transmitter and continued to turn the power to his communicator off. His gaze didn't waiver as he sat down next to his patient.

"Rirakkusu, I need you to realize that there is something much more serious going on than I think you understand. I'll be honest with you, I've never seen anything like this. I have a very good idea of what is going on inside of you, but keep in mind that this is just a theory." Ko would give his patient a moment to take that in, to understand the gravity of the situation he was in. "There is a technique—a Kinjutsu, actually—referred to as the Earth Grudge Fear. It is highly experimental, and it is not known whether any experiments have actually succeeded outside of an official medical facility. Such a surgery is incredibly difficult to perform, and theoretically should have a very high death rate. So, if you wouldn't mind me asking, how is it that you managed to acquire such a dangerously unstable Kinjutsu?" Ko was dead serious. Such a feat was nothing to scoff at, especially at a level such as this. The tendrils that Ko had observed inside of this man were highly sentient and defensive. They were repairing the man's body at an astonishing rate, and helped to keep even Ko's iron sand from being able to transmit chakra emissions from beneath the skin. It was a formidable technique at its worst, and downright dangerous at best. The white haired man would not take this issue lightly.

"Of course, perhaps this is the first you've heard of this? In which case, I'll have to ask for your full cooperation in the upcoming tests." Ko expected a bit of surprise from that one. The young doctor would began to scribble down some notes on his clipboard as he continued. "The fact that you've never seen another doctor about this means this wasn't a technique given to you here in this facility. As such, it will be imperative that we get you registered and accounted for within the Kinjutsu registrar." Ironic, huh? Just because Ko hadn't done so yet, that didn't prevent him from making sure that others followed the rules. "Furthermore, we'll have to make sure that you're actually healthy with such an intense physical change having happened within you. Some invasive surgery should reveal the extent of the technique's grasp over your bodily functions, and whether or not they are stable enough to continue as is."

Ko watched with a solemn feeling, the sun set to the side of them as they entered into the village they'd been travelling towards for the last couple of days. He felt wary of events to come, as if the future held with it a great weight. Shaking his thoughts away, Ko unzipped the large travelling jacket he wore—unlike Akane, his partner, Ko didn't really match the typical clothing style of a Medic in Training. Ko was far more practical, tending to instead wear his normal style of clothing while he worked. Underneath the large leather jacket was a black sweater and shirt, matching well with the almost grey colored pants he wore. In order to stay mobile in the snowy terrain, he wore a pair of very large and thick boots that came a third of the way up his calves. Aside from the backpack that he carried, full of various medical supplies that he figured they might need, the snowy haired man seemed relatively plain and unarmed. Of course, he carried his gourds full of iron sand with him, though aside from the medical applications he intended to use them for he had no intentions of getting into a fight. The young man was a smoker, and had maintained his consistency all the while they travelled to this little mountain village. Extinguishing the cigarette underfoot as they entered the town, the young man took note of the people in this city. Of course, he was also addressing his partner, Akane, when he spoke. "It doesn't look like what ever is causing the illness is spreading that quickly. That's good news. Let's do our best to help these people out, yeah?" Ko was very on edge around her, truth be told. Whatever had gone on between her and the Sennin Kahako could not have been good for Ko. Something about the whole situation felt off to him. He'd play it cautiously while working with her, though he could just be paranoid. It wouldn't surprise him.

When they arrived at the large mansion, he felt a little annoyed by the way the butler treated them. He didn't show it, but he wasn't the biggest fan of rich people. He never felt like he could trust them, but that's probably due to him growing up in a financially difficult family. Everything was a struggle to get, and so perhaps seeing it all so readily available made Ko slightly uncomfortable. Either way, he would never think to comment on the opulence of the estate while here on business. Following the butler through the estate, the pair of medics were led to a woman who seemed to be waiting for them. Was this the wife? She didn't seem like she was sick, as they had been informed in their briefing. He'd worry about that in a moment, though, for it seemed as if a more pressing matter was at hand. Her husband had seemingly taken a turn for the worse, and his condition seemed to be critical at best. Hurrying over to the man's side with his partner, Ko began to prepare his signature medical technique as Akane asked the wife some basic questions. It was imperative that they get as much information as possible early on. "Adding to that, could you please tell us if either you or your husband have any connections to anyone else who is, or has been, sick? As well, have you noticed any changes in regular day-to-day activities—any sort of change in environment you can think of will help." As he asked his questions, Ko prepared himself for some very quick, very invasive surgery.

One of their issues was that they couldn't be sure what kind of condition he was in internally, at least until Ko would begin to work his magic. Placing the gourds of iron sand on the ground next to the husband, Ko began to use his magnetic chakra to gather a a sizeable quantity of the material. Forming it into a small sphere, the young man pressed the little ball against the man's arm. Speaking to an assistant, Ko continued to work no matter what. "Make sure he's as still as possible. His life may depend on it." With that, Ko would turn the side of the iron ball into a thin needle that would pierce into the patient's upper arm. With a direct line into the man's bloodstream, Ko began to activate his signature healing style. "Radiation Style: Microscopic Emission." The iron sand began to filter into the husband's body, being distributed by Ko's magnetic chakra throughout his entire body. Then, acting as a sort of homing beacon for his chakra, Ko would begin to send out short bursts of radiation—resembling the effects of an x-ray machine, Ko would soon be able to see inside the man's body to find any sort of irregularities that might exist. He would walk through his process with his partner, keeping her informed. "I'm checking for any internal anomalies he might have. It's very possible he could be experiencing gastrointestinal bleeding, which would explain the blood in his vomit, his paleness, and any fatigue he might be experiencing. Standby for any new information." Of course, this was just a guess on Ko's part given the information available to them now. Were he to find anything, then his diagnosis might change slightly.
