Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

It seemed that the journey to Godsfall wasn't without its own adversity, whether it be hesitation or outright conflict with the chosen form of transportation. That said, it would seem the travelers would make their way to the historic battlefield turned burial ground without any greater issues. Those within the party would disembark and begin to feel the presence within this location, but would there be more...

:game_die: Rolling dice!
[d100 : 32]
In the end, the result was: 32

...at this time there would in fact not be more. At least not directly. The sand would rustle and shift as a slight breeze would carry through the area. For trouble to be found, it would seem the adventurers would need to travel a bit further into Godsfall.

OOC: At this time there is no enemy visible, but that doesn't mean things can't be seen or found before the next round. In an effort to potentially give the party a chance to drum up your own trouble, the next prompt will happen next Monday (site time), this means if everyone cycles through posting once, you can potentially begin another cycle before the next prompt to increase the likelihood of things.

The tension would rise a bit as everyone, eventually, got to the desired location. It seemed that he would have missed Shenlong struggling a bit with the Sandrunner, but for the most part, the Kazekage was surprised by the overall apprehension Sunans seemed to have with using the domesticated version of the birds. Sure, wild Sandrunners were potentially deadly, the domesticated and raised versions seemed to be a bit easier to work with, yet the Kage failed to account that these were students. At his young age was he being taught to ride? Yes. Was there a disconnect between his own upbringing and those of Sunan young shinobi? Yes. Hopefully, that disconnect wouldn't come back to cost him... or the students.

"Uzi, I know you aren't originally from Wind Country, so maybe you haven't heard this story... and I'm not sure if they teach you kiddos history or not--" He would pause for a moment, scanning around once more, before turning back to the collected group of young people. "--in the Ryuzaki we are told, in very serious reverence, the importance of this specific stretch of desert. A great battle happened here. The liberation of humanity, the fall of Ancients... no matter how you view it, this land is important to this country." Once more he would pause, but this time his face will grow a bit more serious. "Death was sowed deeply into this stretch of sand. Some tribes and communities of this country believe those spirits lay trapped here, either vengeful or just constantly locked in an eternal battle... some believe this stretch of land is bad luck to enter... others believe it is sacrilege to come here and just walk around... while others see this place a magnet for evil--a hub where bad just seems to gather. It's why some say it isn't surprising that this was also the place where the Daimyo and previous Kazekage perished." Based on Uzi getting the same sense he was from this land, and the fact that the students and Genin seemed to be picking up on the distress, he wanted to take a moment to educate the young ones on the land they were entering. While they had a task at hand, he still very much viewed himself as a teacher of sorts for those in his care.

Shadows, due to the placement of light striking his now tilting face, would cover his eyes. Quickly he would raise his head, now showing his usual ear-to-ear smile that seemed to engulf his face. "Ghost stories, bad luck, blah-blah-blah... Riyota, our Ranger General said this location seemed to be a place that The Swarm continued to return to--no matter where they popped up, no matter where they went, in the end, they seemed to come back right here."

He would then turn around to face back out into the vast desert before him that seemed to carry with it strange energy. "So maybe there is some truth to those folk tales... either way, this version of Unbent, The Swarm, seem to be less active in the daytime. So gang here is our first mission... we are going to drag out one of these monsters for a little demonstration. We will do this like a search party canvasing; we will all start in a line and move forward. Keep your eyes peeled for anything, call out if you see something strange or if you find any openings into the ground or caves. The deeper we go into Godsfall, the more debris, dunes, and large rocks will appear obscuring our vision. Stay where you can always see another member of our party, no one is to go off from the group. Uzi, tail the back of us and keep everyone herded together. I will remain in the front."

With that, and a slam of his right hand into his left palm, a determined Kazekage would begin onward, moving further into Godsfall.

Fortunately for Kei, despite the lack of notepad Moriko was committing everything he said about sandboards to memory and not bored by it at all.

"My family doesn't like to go out to Soon's Haven," Moriko said. She knew the reasons why, even if they were abstract. "Hm. You know, I think I'd prefer you to teach me how to make my own? Just let me know what materials I should bring..."

And despite the tension and wariness from the more senior members of the party, nothing had yet manifested. She didn't want to be visibly bored considering this was an actual important mission, but she had expected something to...happen, after the Kazekage and a few others had reacted. Maybe there was something there but concealed?

Which gave her an idea. That she would deploy just after a lesson from the Kazekage. True, it was information she already knew, but books lacked the gravitas---and for that matter the commitment to say it was all superstition and nonsense. Except for one tiny thing. Or rather, many things; the things they were there to hunt would retreat to the very area in which they were standing.

And they were going to split up. That sounded...a little risky, but probably not very. Whatever happened wasn't liable to be quiet, and the air here was otherwise dead still. The sound of a battle or even a few thrown attacks would carry for miles. It wasn't like there was anything that lived here after all.

Well. Anything lived. 'Living' was not the right word for the creatures they were hunting, she had heard.

They didn't have any particular formation or guidelines aside from always keeping an eye on each other, so Moriko stepped off slightly to a direction that seemed to be west and quickly whipped up a Crystal Eye to send out scouting. Might as well cover as much ground as possible, and it could zip along much faster and less noticeably than she could. Plus if the eye got ambushed, who cared?

She directed it to zip off a little above six feet off the ground, keeping an 'eye' out all around ahead of her more and more carefully measured steps. It didn't require her to hold any handseals, so her bow was out and if she needed to throw ice she could.

...Actually if the terrain became too rough she could do that too, but that sounded like it would take a lot of effort, so Moriko stored her 'ice skating' idea for later. Still, an icy path sounded much easier (for her, anyway) to move along than sinking into the sand a little with every step. Not to mention you weren't liable to get ice in your boots.

Just because she had her Crystal Eye didn't mean she wasn't using her normal ones, mind. She was keeping her eyes sharp, goggles filtering the sun so she didn't have to squint, just in case trouble suddenly popped up within shooting range.

She wasn't a dead aim yet, but her shooting range was still pretty good.

They call it muscle memory when you’ve perfected your jump shot with the rock from the free-throw line. It’s also muscle memory when you cut through a tatami mat with your Grand Daddy’s prized katana he brought home from the war. While I’m sure more of your peers in the shinobi academy have spent time in the dojo than on the basketball court, the point remains made. With enough practice, our skills become second nature and ingrained into the fabric of our being, down to the cellular level. But in the years to come when the fresh face of the academy cadet has matured, and those crystalline eyes have seen all the wonders and horrors of the world, the youngling may come to know a different kind of physical instinct. Opposite to the muscle memory is its twin: the phantom pain. The knee you sprained by falling off on your sandboard years ago reacts on cold nights. When you see a sandrunner, you feel the weight of a foot on your chest like tightness gripping the lungs, and you forget to take a breath. But worse than the pain of experience is that unspoken of third Olsen— the third one that takes center stage in your later years. Yes, the Elizabeth Olsen of your subconscious: powerful, crippling anxiety.

Stepping foot onto Godsfall should have meant nothing to Jintou. He had never ventured there in his short life, and the pathfinder always steered the tribe of House Oba around that territory. And yet, catching a mere wisp of the order of decay came with a rush of paralyzing horror. He slowed behind his peers after disembarking from the Sandrunner and even fought off conflicting thoughts of running back to the fowl and attempting to steal one for an escape. As he overheard Lord Raizo recounting reconnaissance about the unbent, vivid images flashed in Jintou’s mind from a chance encounter only
days ago. Indeed, he had seen an unbent face to face and had the image of a twisted creature long beyond human burned into his retina. He could still feel strong hands gripping him around the neck and squeezing with unreal power. The taste of rotten blood dripping from her spit danced on his tongue in memory so fresh she could have just been his first kiss. The unbent looked, smelled, and tasted like the grave, but the look of hatred in her eyes resembled a foe deep in the act of revenge with her attempted strangulation. The creature lost her lower half amidst a toss at him by a hulking ally and yet Jintou was certain that she was in fact, quite alive.

Caught by the memory he lagged behind, and he grabbed his stomach with a hand chasing something up his sternum. It was a sensation like something racing to evacuate his narrow frame. The spew shined iridescent in the summer sun when Jintou buckled over with his back to the crew. The liquid fell over an odd shape in the shallow sand and Jintou blinked hard as he swore he saw a dried-up face staring back. Starch white eyes never took a blink to spare, with black pupils smaller than granules of pepper. Instinctually, the boy swung his bident’s pronged edge into the sand nervously, but there was nothing to be found but some massive bone unearthed by his outburst; something inhuman.

The pretty sizable lore dump confused Yuno, he had heard of the fight that occurred here, but hearing that the land itself was cursed was new. He looked around and it didn't feel... cursed. Granted what would he know about whether something is cursed or not, but it just seemed like the rest of the desert they lived in. Hot, sunny, dry, and sand that just gets everywhere. Yuno was simply not having a good time out here. "W-well I guess we should try scouting?" He turned to look at his team, only to realize that that one of his team mates was already on the ball. A student no less.

'I can't let myself just stand around, what kind of example would a leave?' But as he looked around, he wasn't quite sure what to do. Much like these unbent, Yuno flourished in the darkness of night. It wasn't just the heat that kept him from going, it was the sun itself, threatening to painfully burn any exposed skin he was too forgetful to cover. But he wasn't completely useful. Though most of this land lacked structures to create shadows, he had enough with just the people here. He took a breath, not having much practice with such a high level jutsu, but it was all he could think of doing that wasn't just copying Moriko. The shadows of everyone in the area began to coalesce with his own, before it began to separate from the sandy prison, like a blob of ink taking form, until a copy of himself appeared. A shade.

"Go off an see if you can, I don't know, be bait I guess?" The shade, only resembling Yuno through the obvious bird shaped head, nodded in agreement before running off in a random direction. He turned to see if the Kage noticed him, something he didn't realize he desired until now, but in his movement he noticed one of the members of another group acting weird. Yuno didn't think it was his place to interfere with another group, until he saw the boy stab into the sand. Shocked, but worried, Yuno began to approach the boy with haste. "D-did you find something?"

The history lesson was an unexpected treat the Hybrid had, indeed, quite appreciated. Amidst recountings of varied beliefs and interpretations, Goki introspected into her own first impressions of the historical land.

Flat and arid.

... Of no small degree, dissatisfying.

The apprehension of her guardians, however, was obvious; and contagious for the less initiated. Goki hadn't felt anything, unfortunately, as her present sensing capabilities reached only a certain degree; and that was still limited to emotions. Nothing felt much alien to her; aside from her own group’s behavior. How disappointing—she wanted to feel apprehensive too. These bees and wasps must have truly been something fierce.
What once had solely been referred to as ‘The Swarm’ now revealed further associations with something ‘Unbent’ and ‘monsters’. Goki felt she’d held a solid enough idea concerning the definition of ‘monsters’, yet couldn't wrap her head around why something improperly ‘bent’ might pose such a worrisome threat. If anything, old people should have posed the greater threat; given their spines typically angled awkwardly at degrees beyond human aid. But perhaps this condition was instead more accurately defined ‘bent’. Regardless, Goki was certain she’d never wanted to become bent. If anything, remaining unbent appeared to hold the better fate of the draw.
An intrigued breath released, upon the Genin witnessing her shadow unite with others to form .... What to call it?

Shadow blob.

Yes, that sounded enough befitting.

The second girl of the party summoned an eye—a floating eye. Now these demonstrations alone proved more satisfying than this entire site. Her company were all performing such neat tricks, meanwhile, Goki would also utilize her own inborn gifts—two feet and two eyes.
Humming a miscellaneous tune, arms rested behind, the Genin toured about with strides wide and unnatural to her proportions. With a puffed cheek, all she’d discover in that brief investigation would be further sand grains—and then some. Short-lived scouting, it'd prove indeed: For, not much sooner would the Pantou of her team resonate potent emotions again—and behavior to boot. Naturally curious, the Hybrid’s head turned just in time to catch the finale of his sickly performance—Absolutely splendid!
Previous hypotheses appeared spot on—he really had fallen ill after that fall... The boy’s poor immune system.

The bident would retaliate against something buried beneath—of which hadn’t even appeared to initiate aggression. The Hybrid’s neck craned sideways, yet she couldn't make much out. Feet began way; albeit, less frantic than the birdboy’s. Though he'd inquire the question Goki desired to ask.
Some feet afore actually reaching said destination, however, the girl would catch but a glimpse of the vomit-covered bone afore the ground beneath suddenly gave way—her frail form plummeting through the earth in a flash.
A worrying silence followed; one might’ve pondered whether the youth actually died that moment: A tragedy to be told for an adventure yet to even truly set off. Yet, an echo from deep below would eventually confirm life.

“Goki sees a finger,” From the pit’s bottom, the Genin rubbed a sore rear having absorbed most of the impact. “A very large, old finger.”

It probably wasn't a finger.

Any trepidation the young lad might have felt about his skeletal discovery was quickly washed away by the voice of the Kazekage, once more directed at them and informing them of the history of the place where they stood. Kei knew it well enough, between the fact that merchant caravans explicitly avoided this route even if it would have been the fastest and the fact that history was the one class he could stand to learn from reading, given that shinobi history read more like a convoluted comic book universe than actual history. The downfall of Godsfall was no exception and his excitement to finally be here was evident as the moment they were given the okay to do so, Kei set to work scouting the area. His was a straight-forward approach, quickly taking in any signs of plant or animal life - of which there were none - before moving alongside his teammates. Sparks of admiration and jealousy flew as he watched Moriko and Yuno shoot off some helpful scouting jutsu, only furthering his resolve to be as aware as he could with his limited skillset.

It wasn't long before Kei tuned into the fact that Jintou was no longer within sight of his peripherals, and he turned to see the nomadic boy's pale face and ensuing sickness. "Hey, Pantou," the redhead called as he rushed back to his friend's side. "What's wrong? Did something bite you?" The idea that the student might genuinely be scared or nervous had not crossed Kei's mind - after all Jintou was, well, Jintou. His hand slipped into his pouch, retrieving a few small vials in an uncharacteristic show of preparedness. Antidotes, of various kinds. He wasn't good with desert medicine like his classmate, but the incident in Dr. Saito's classroom had taught Kei the value of being ready with something to combat the effects of poisons and other sicknesses which the teen had previously not ever considered above the dangers of being attacked with fireballs and shuriken. "Here, I've got a few things - was it a snake? A wasp? Mosquito?"

As he conferred with the sick boy, a familiar sound spread about his feet. It was a sound that would make any merchant's blood run cold despite the sun, immediately halting their camels and pulling back their stock to remain as still as possible before they could evaluate a new route. A cave-in. He turned to face Goki with a hand up, ready to call "Stop!" but a moment too late. Watching her flash of red hair disappear into the hidden fissure, it was quickly evident that Kei had learned nothing from his experience at the Craemotaris as he shoved the vials he held into Jintou's hand before leaping in after his former classmate without even a moment to think through the consequences of such a course of action. Using his board or kunai to drag on the walls of the ravine to slow his fall would threaten opening new fissures for the rest of their team above, and so the teen simply plummeted as Goki had. Fortunately he had the advantage of not being caught off guard as the girl had, and so he was able to manage his free-fall and land with chakra-coated feet to absorb the impact and leave him ready to help or defend his friend from whatever may lurk below, kunai at the ready.

Another moment of silence would follow for those at the surface. "Goki... that's not..."

As Ringo readied his staff, he eventually lowered his weapon as the band of Sunans were not yet met with any present threats. Each squad, wary, still prepared themselves for any dangerous discoveries; however, the atmosphere, at least to the student, grew less tense as the Kazekage briefed them on the land's history. It was a much needed history lesson, too, because the brown-haired student had forgotten many of its details. He listened intently and absorbed all the information he could. Their leader's tale was a bit foreboding, especially as he explained their mission's new objective. Ordinarily, Ringo wasn't one to pursue conflict or combat, but the firm sense of security he felt by his group's side and his newfound ambition to progress in the shinobi world kept his legs moving forward as they trekked the desert terrain.

In response to their new order, students and Genin alike performed techniques to aid them in their survey. Ringo's eyes glittered in fascination as Moriko manifested a crystal eye to further enhance her perception. That girl really was talented, wasn't she? Yuno, the bird-masked Genin, conjured a shadow blob of sorts that with a face that mirrored his vizard. The feats that his allies performed were impressive, and they also moved the boy to reflect on what was in his arsenal that could prove useful in their current task. Placing his hand on his chin, he gazed upward as he was momentarily lost in his own musings. "Do I know any special jutsu that can help out right now? Hm, I don't think I do yet, but there must be other ways that I can help out?" Ringo's thoughts were interrupted when Kei backpedaled to check on Jintou. Their new friend did look ill, but was that the reason that uneasiness painted his expression? As his cousin proffered the boy some remedies, the other young Mugen extended his own form of support. "Don't worry, Jintou, we have your back," he shared with a confident smile. Before the trio could interact further and before Ringo could observe Jintou's discovery, he both felt and heard the rush of sand as their red-headed comrade, Goki, fell into a deep pit. Ringo gasped. Frozen in the moment's shock, he observed Kei rushing in after her. "Kei-!" Familiar feelings of panic filled him briefly, an emotion that he hadn't experienced since their class with Doctor Saito. Were his two teammates okay? Peering into the dark hole, he soon heard both his allies echo some words. Phew. They were okay.

Although the depth of the hole made their words difficult to decipher, Ringo managed to hear the word 'finger' and 'not'. Following his instincts, the boy beckoned their squad's leader. "Lord Raizo, I believe they found something. They mentioned a finger?" Regardless of their potential findings, they needed to unearth the two from the bottom of the hole and back to leveled land. He was sure the Kazekage had a trick or two up his sleeve to accomplish this, but he also desired to assist him where he could. "How can we help, Lord Raizo?" After he conferred with their group's leader, Ringo motioned at Jintou and prepared his staff. His expression and body language attempted to communicate a simple message to the other student: prepare yourself to provide support and or to fend off any lurking perils.

Despite his difficulty in mounting the creature, Shenlong found the ride along with the group of sandrunners relatively easy and surprisingly pleasant. The rushing air of the large bipedal bird's quickened pace was a soothing break from the harsh sun and hot, heavy air of his hike out to the meeting place. It reminded him distantly of what it had been like to take wing in the skies-- or at least it evoked what Shenlong thought to be memories of what it would be like to take wing. Shenlong's ostensible parents had already spent a great deal of money on a legion of therapists and medical experts trying to explain the psychosis that dominated the young man's mental state when the simplest answer had been staring them in the face the entire time even if it were the most implausible.

Finally the sandrunners began to skid to a halt and an eerie stillness gripped the group following the Kazekage's first command to stick together. It was impossible to deny that there was something grim to their surroundings that was difficult to properly describe. Some ineffable malfeasance that seemed to carry upon the soft wind like the coils of an invisible serpent, ever twisting and coursing around each of them. For his part, Shenlong once more found himself frustrated by the dimness of his human body's sense's. His awareness was just tangible enough to give him some sense of wrongness in the air but lacked the sharpness to define anything about where the source of his dread lay.

With the Kazekage's explanation came some degree of understanding for what Shenlong lacked in what he understood to be "shinobi training" or desert survival skills, he certainly made up for in historical knowledge. "This stretch of desert", as the Kazekage called it, was known colloquially as "Godsfall" in most of the local cultures and was the place that historically speaking was commonly thought of as the birthplace of the modern era of humanity.

And as the place where the Old World came crashing down, crushing the race of spiritfolk which called themselves the Ancients under its collapse.

That did much to explain the feeling of malaise that seemed to drift off of the very sands themselves. Places which were inured with death held on to a kind of energy that was impossible to deny even for the most skeptical of minds and if the historical texts written by human scholars could be at all trusted this was not only the place where a handful of mighty kings and powerful spiritfolk had been killed but an entire era of history had died here once upon a time and that alone would have been enough to leave a deep scar upon the land.

Stay where you can always see another member of our party, no one is to go off from the group. Uzi, tail the back of us and keep everyone herded together. I will remain in the front."

He would be of little use in most regards here. Even as proud as he was, Shenlong was not ignorant of the shortcomings of the physical form that he now possessed. Each time he reflexively blinked and in so doing blinded himself for a heartbeat was a stark reminder of how limited he was, if any of the other dozens of things that felt wrong about his body weren't also true. He lacked for many of the skills that the other human whelps in the group possessed and so stayed quiet, reserved in the moment as the others scrambled about a discovery made by the one identified as Jintou and kept his eyes open-- as best that he could manage, anyway.

As Raizo began to give the background on the desert, Uzi listened closely. He was from Kiri, so no, he didn't know much about the desert's history. He'd heard rumors before, but those are just words from the grapevine. He spoke of a battle that happened way back when. To imagine that old warrior spirits were here buried gave Uzi the chills. "An old battlefield? I never would have guessed it. " To hear that the last Kazekage died on these grounds made Uzi think of how special this place was too the Sunans. He immediately knelt down, giving respects to the ground. He kissed his palm and pat the dirt before standing back up.

Mention of the Ranger General and the swarm kept Uziuke's attention. Now he was a bit more aware of what they were looking for. The danger would most likely find them for trudging on the historic battlefield sands. The first mission if the trek would be too draw out one of these creatures. As the group was given instruction, Uzi nodded. He understood that some may have felt uneasy after hearing their first task, but hopefully they would be able to overcome their jitters. Uzi remained towards the back of the group, keeping an eye on everyone, especially those assigned to him.

As the group began scouting one student called up one of those floating eyeballs. "Nice." She was the first to react to the situation at hand, creating get own scout to view the area. Uzi only continued to be impressed by the kids' talents, as another created a shadow clone of himself. They were obviously quick thinkers.

The Jintou kid from the assembly seemed to be sick to his stomach. Though, the talented bunch proved to be properly equipped for the situation. "These kids deserve some kind of rewards. The teachers at the Academy really outdid themselves with this bunch." Maybe he would have a word with Raizo later on the group's performance. There were other things he wanted to speak on with the Kage as well, but for now, he'd stay focused on the mission at hand.

That's when it happened. The first disaster of the mission unfolded as the one named Goki fell into some sort of sand pit. Uzi's eyes widened, but he calmed himself after the student spoke up from the depths of the pit. What she spoke of finding while down there made Uzi feel uneasy. There certainly was danger afoot. Kei, the one that introduced himself earlier, showed a day of courage as he jumped in the pit after Goki, the red haired one. One could assume that they were relatives from the fact that they both had red hair, but that was irrelevant at the moment.

Uzi flashed through a few hand seals. Upon completion the chakra within his body began to flow, swaying his white hairs a bit. The jutsu began raising the earth that was beneath the two in the pit. The sands and gravel would raise the two back to level ground, reuniting the two with the rest of the team. He admired Kei's enthusiasm, and would stroll over to the two, making sure that they were alright. "This desert holds many surprises aye?" The question was for Goki as he looked over to the "finger" on the ground. The boy felt the chills overcome him once more as he then looked over to Kei. He ruffled the kids hair a bit, "Nice work captain awesome. The ANBU sure could use a kid like you."

If the two were ok, he'd await for them to move along before igniting a flame to consume what looked like a "finger". The oder that lingered from the object put a distinct smell in the air. Maybe one of those little creatures would catch a whiff and be lured to the group.

"That smell could lure anything our way. Let's make sure to stay on our toes." He looked over the group before looking to Raizo and nodding. He certainly made the group bait with the small fire. Hopefully everyone would be prepared for what was to come.

Mod Thread: Round 4 | Falling Students, Rising Tension

The group began to do what was asked of them; knock on as many doors as they could and see who or what would answer. A talented young female would deploy a third eye, one that was free to roam out from the group. But would this eye be able to capture anything of use?

The Eye's View: a few hundred meters out in front of the group, the eye would happen upon bodies half-buried in the sand and half exposed. The figures would not look human, with blue fur and large frames being the defining feature. Chances were, the female most likely didn't know the creature as they were reclusive and often go unmarked in any fauna books of the country... outside of those who lived directly in the lush lands of Sora. If the eye was lucky... (rolling for luck; 7 out of 20 no luck)...it would have caught a sharper image this far out, but because fortune did not favor them, and the distance this instance would happen, the eye would barely notice what appeared to be an entire sand dune shifting forward. Yet, enough was seen for young Moriko to question just what, if anything, it was that happened out up ahead. Or, she could place her focus on the closer, more aware happening of the bodies.

Jintou and the Bone: Jintou would barf, a bone would be exposed, and then Goki's approach to the location would hit almost a perfect point that would cause the ground to open up and collapse downward. The bone that Jintou saw was attached to something else that would roll down to Goki as the ground continued to give out until stopping just short of Jintou's footing. He would be in shock from a previous memory, but he would be spared from losing his footing while in this state. That said, by luck he would have indeed found something... but what?

Goki, Kei, and the Pit: Goki wouldn't have a choice in the matter, as her fall would be a surprise for all within the party. Kei, however, would respond by riding down to their fallen comrade. While in the hollowed-out patch of earth, Goki would find their interest tied to a finger. Kei, upon seeing it, would make a better assumption; it wasn't a finger. They wouldn't have long to raise up back into the sunlight, as Uziuke used his jutsu to bring the children, and the thing, back to the surface and seal off the pit below them. However, the two young shinobi (roll for occurrence; 72 out of 100, a gift for you!) as they were being raised back up to the surface, would notice a sand wall within the pit start to give away and expose what looked like carved structures... potentially a hallway. They couldn't be certain, but they would have clearly seen walls, a floor, and a ceiling, that seemed to have been designed by a craftsman as opposed to some burrowed hole from a creature. Was it connected to the Old World? Something to do with burials from the battle long ago? Something entirely different? A figment of their imagination? It would be up to Goki and Kei on how they would sell what their eyes had captured.

Uzi and the not-finger: Uziuke would burn the finger, which out in the light of day would become much more obvious as to what the creature was; a sandworm. A rather tiny worm, no bigger than a human infant, which alone was an odd thing. The creature was decomposing heavily, part of what Jintou had uncovered with his expelled bile and breakfast, and it would be hard to tell what the true cause of death was for the pitiful thing. For better or worse, no one in the group was a medic, not that they could have saved the long-dead thing, but potentially could have performed a crude autopsy. Instead, Uziuke would give the thing something it did not have before, a proper burial... via cremation. The smell would be awful.

Yuno's Shade: It would continue traversing and it would... (roll 7 out of 100; no luck)... not come across anything yet, but something would have its sight set on the strange dark figure. The shade was serving its purpose correctly, but it seemed that the fish in this pond wasn't ready to bite the bait just yet...

OOC: Sorry for the long layoff! We will now have a deadline of Friday site time for the next round to posting, or earlier if everyone gets a post in! No posting order! Just a reminder, as you all are starting to throw in some awesome creativity in the works: the adventure was to find one thing but if we end up down a completely different rabbit hole, fret not :)

As with the last round, please use your post to either attempt to find, interact, or disturb things as you wish and we shall see what truly gets thrown at you all. For those of you deploying jutsu, please make sure to mention still using them in the next round if you are maintaining and feel free to give a bit more rp to them to see if they capture anything of use!

Whenever his head hung low he could look up and find those same familiar faces, worrisome and then smiling and lending a helping hand. He knew them as allies through that common village bond, but as their adventures grew in number, he also knew them to be true friends. Jintou felt some measure of guilt after doubling over— proving to be a weak link again and again, or so he recognized. The life of a ninja was like a long passage on the river Nile; a perilous journey where one false move and a lack of strength meant drowning. Somehow, Kei was always there like a lifejacket to keep him afloat. Against Omiya, both Kei and Ringo had risked their lives for Jintou, and there they were again; seemingly always there.

“I’ll be fine… I’m not dying, it’s just muscle cramping— a heat crap. “I was trying to preserve my canteen and got dehydrated.” The awkward laugh that followed was painful, so was the smile he was forcing. Jintou tried to spot the recognition of his lie in the eyes of Kei but of course, Kei spun away in a blur of red, off to see about Goki with a similar valiance. That sensation in his stomach continued to buzz as he watched Kei slide down into the pit with ease, an anxious tingle still… he would have preferred if it was still the dread of their unbending adventure, but this feeling was unknown. Could it have been envy? Kei was inscrutable to the point of being enigmatic, but he was so strong-hearted and impossible to keep down. Kei had that spark that ignited the people around him, another Raizo in the making and he made it look so easy. Suddenly, the shrewish behavior of Moriko had some merit; no tangles to be snared in by that one.

Standing at the top of the pit felt like being at the peak of a deadly cliff in that instance. The echo of Goki calling up made his nerves quake in fear that she broke something in the fall, but it was only the result of her mishap as a strange discovery. Ringo was already getting the go-ahead from the Kazekage, but as it was, the reckless shinobi cadets were likely to follow Kei without permission anyway.
“Come with me” Jintou led, and he grabbed Ringo by the wrist with a sudden assertiveness. He could barely pull Ringo despite the difference of their weight in his favor, about twenty-four pounds. Why the pull though? Back they went, gaining distance from the pit as if Jintou was going to yeet himself and Ringo into the pit with a running start. Without letting Ringo loose, Jintou entered a wide-legged stance and slammed his left foot forward, commanding the hard soil beneath the sand. Down he swung the dual-tips of his bident, and he delivered a decisive score in the sand in front of his dragging back. Imagine the sound of a rockslide inverted as a slope dug itself into the ground in a clean stroke. Sand poured down, and the pair of Jintou and Ringo was snatched into a wild slide down.

Rolling Agility Check: 58 (F is for Failure!)

The downpour of sand eased the rough passage, but the amateur slide still came with its kinks. Jintou lost his footing and entered a tumble after tripping over a lip. He shot out the bottom and rolled before taking it in stride and climbing back to his feet. He spat out a cloud of dust and was patting himself down, trying to regain his cool in front of Uziuke, Goki, and Kei. If Ringo took it on the chin worse than Jintou, he would have received the most sincere apology he could offer; but at least it was fun, right?

“Is everyone okay?” Jintou was winded as he scanned his peers for injuries and came forward. He walked unevenly, fatigued from the fall or from exerting the earth jutsu. At least he seemed to be over the mess of butterflies infesting him before. He focused on Goki and squatted beside her. “Are you hurt, Goki?” He tried to speak smoothly and went for eye contact, using the techniques in the field med-nin manual. It said that bedside manner was crucial when handling patients. “Do I have your permission to assist you?” He began to lean and glance at her, blushing apparent as signs of injury seemed less likely. “Show me where it… hurts?”

There was a difficulty inherent in keeping an eye on both your surroundings and what your construct was sending you that Moriko had worked quite hard on, but had yet to entirely master. She knew it would be important for things like clones as well in the future, and this was a good way to practice it.

As the eye rose and activated she had a bit of disorientation as it focused on her and she could see herself from outside, but then it turned and lifted and went zipping off. A smaller, and less risky, target than she would be herself. Going fast around here seemed like a bad idea for a person.

Moriko noted the terrain did indeed get rougher as they went on; only another hundred meters out or so it was getting quite rocky and became even more difficult as it progressed. Luckily her floating eye remained entirely uninhibited by the vagaries of terrain--a skill she seemed unable to master herself, despite knowing it was possible for a person from how Tsukiya did it.

He'd be useful here. Stupid parents.

Quite far out ahead, into the rockier and more uneven parts of the terrain, she finally spied something other than sand and rock. A glimpse of blue fur and huge bodies, not even vaguely human, nearly drew her attention before the flicker of movement in the distance instead drew her focus. Deciding she had enough on the furry things that someone, even if not her, could identify them, she directed the eye to turn toward the large whatever and see if it was anything important.

Raising her voice so the team leaders could hear, she said, "Approximately three hundred and twelve meters in front of us there are large creatures with blue fur half-buried. I'm unsure if they're alive or not, or what they are." She paused. "Further ahead there is something very large. I haven't gotten a good look at it yet, but I'll try."

Moriko made sure to lift the eye further in the air, hopefully enough to evade any possible attack--ranged or otherwise--and set it on erratic movements while aiming it in the rough direction of the very large...thing. She flexed her white-gloved hand absently; it wasn't as much a drain on her chakra as she'd feared, and scouting information was more useful than an equivalent-power attack any day. More information in this kind of circumstance was worth any five attacks.

And it was only courteous to tell her teammates of it, of course. Being rude in the presence of the Kazekage seemed...dim, even if he was the friendly sort.

Her gloves were unfortunately bothering her. They were made of a material that was supposed to be tough enough to keep sand blasting through them and hurting her hands, but they were impeding the seals she might need to make shortly. Draw and fire with her weapon was fine, but the more nimble one-handed seals her clan used would be difficult. She kept focused on the eye and debated with herself the merits of taking them off.

On, she decided, taking into account the terrain. It's not impossible there's rock climbing ahead of us.

Following a headturn, surprise exhibited across the Hybrid’s face; discovering the red-headed classmate already standing anear and at the ready afore she’d even collected bearings—Where’d he arrive from? She hadn’t even seen his fall... Though, heaps of sand obscuring her plummet likely attributed.
As the adrenaline of her sudden descent wore, delayed dizziness followed; like pangs through expiring painkiller effects. A hand rose to massage her temple, regard returning to the object of focus.

“Not?” she’d parrot back, “Then what is it?”

No sooner had the inquiry left her lips than would further descent of sand fill her ears; prompting a headturn above. The reminiscent sound proved rather alarming; like repeated trauma afore proper recovery of its prior.
A few vigorous headshakes were indulged, displacing further particles fallen into her hair in the jutsu’s wake. She’d not understood enough of the technique’s mechanics to thoroughly trail it—yet she’d certainly perceive its end, as a Pantou emerged tumbling with the sand, and a Ringo to boot. Two for one.
There lingered an inquiring look upon the boy’s arrival question, and his following appearance aside. Not one of aversion to his presence - yet confused as to why someone having freshly vomited, tumbled through a pit, and now walked with questionable balance would practice concern for another’s physical condition: Like a bleeding man in the emergency room inquiring upon their surgeon’s revealed yawn of sleep deprivation, ‘Is everything alright?’ Surely his own situation rose greater concern.

“Do I have your permission to assist you?”

Now, this also proved a strange inquiry for the Hybrid, given the boy appeared already performing just that - assistance. Goki was further amidst unraveling the cause behind his sudden, uncharacteristic speaking: For ‘bedside manner’ was a concept unheld in her head. Golden irises would radiate genuine confusion, and no amount of emotional reading appeared capable of dousing it; if anything, it only fueled - Why was he blushing?
A spoken response delayed, the Hybrid instead rose to a gradual stand, cursorily dusting her attire aside the squatted medic wannabe. Unfortunately for Jintou, he’d soon learn that, with Goki—one should always care to specify the nature of their requests.

With a turn, he’d receive exactly what’d been asked.

“Goki hurts where she sits,” arrived the unabashed answer, a hand drawing back her cloak to reveal fitted trousers of black underneath—the index of her other, gesturing the left portion of her rear in full view.

Always care to specify the nature of one’s requests.

Stumbling followed the ground’s abrupt rise, restoring dizziness nearly relieved. Amidst reascension, regard lingered towards the giving sandwall revealed—craning and peering in attempts to better explore within. It’d continue, until it could no longer. The entrance out of sight—yet not out of mind; dwellings only distracted upon direct address from the Kazekage’s assistant.

"This desert holds many surprises aye?"

With a few hard blinks, the girl would reexamine the unearthed object, as if double checking its very existence; whether it’d actually been some figment of her imagination: In what world fingers held great surprise, Goki would never understand.
The lids protecting her golden eyes shut; inhaling the fume’s stench, focusing upon it . . . Ah, she’d finally received an answer.
Yes - very much like fish left out water for far too long—Putrid. Then roasted forthwith, breeding food poisoning and vomiting like that witnessed of the ill Pantou.

“Goki wants to explore the ancient hallway,” the Hybrid wouldn’t shy away from making known, without much, or really, any elaboration—even if there existed others holding no concept of what she’d even been referring to.
“She thinks there will be more fingers, bones, and throwup.”A headnod affirmed this - Again, even if no one else understood.

Just after Ringo approached the Kazekage and awaited his call, he was suddenly and forcefully pulled straight into the dirt pit by his friend, Jintou. "Crud." Ringo's eyes widened as the spontaneity of the other boy's actions threw him completely off guard. Clenching his teeth, he made his descent down the sandy hole besides the third son of the house Oba.

Rolling Agility Check: 71 (C is for Pass!)

Despite being unprepared for their downward plummet into the pit, the young Mugen was able to instinctively gain footing along the dirt walls as Jintou, who still held on to him, slid down in a widened stance with his bident acting as a sort of a stopper. The duo hurdled down like a rockslide as the sands around them cascaded along with them. The youth that directed him quickly lost footing and tumbled downward; Ringo, remaining in the boy's grip, almost snowballed down with him. He reached for the staff gifted to him by Master Hikari, one of the Monkey Realm's Heavenly Guard, and stabbed the pole's hilt into the pit's walls. He was fortunate that the sand was soft enough that his weapon pierced through it. Ringo held on to his staff as he hung over the trio below, but his facial expression contorted as he witnessed Jintou taking a mouthful of dirt.

The boy lunged forward and unsheathed his staff with him. As he only had about 15-feet left of his descent, he was able to stick his landing well. "Are you alright, Jintou?" he asked with his brow arched in concern. In that moment, too, he had forgotten that Jintou was the one that initiated this Alice in Wonderland-like tumble down this random desert hole. "Also, sup, Kei and Goki." Ringo grinned and greeted the two redheads with a wave. "Did you all find anything interesting down here?" Before they could respond and both Jintou and Goki assessed the pain in her rearside, the grounds below them abruptly elevated as they were soon back on the surface. Uziuke, one of the shinobi leads in this survey, assisted the group back on to land. "Thanks, Uziuke."

Goki soon revealed that she wanted to explore some type of ancient hallway. Ringo definitely didn't spot that during his time down below nor any fingers for that matter, but he trusted the Genin's perception. Moriko called out to the group and announced her sightings. Blue creatures? Ringo placed his hand on his chin and looked upward. There was a lot already happening in this survey, so he thought of ways that he could assist his team. He lacked any true knowledge about this land and his shinobi skills were limited right now due to his rank... so what could he realistically contribute? He then had a lightbulb moment as his eyes glittered in excitement. "Oh, maybe Tengoku has heard of blue creatures or ancient hallways from these parts?" Biting his finger to surface blood and forming seals, he placed his palms on the ground as a puff of smoke manifested before him. Suddenly, standing proud with his staff readied, a small monkey adorned in golden battle gear awaited Ringo's direction.

Ringo waved at Tengoku and knelt down to the two-and-a-half foot ape's level. "At ease, Tengoku," the boy responded with a cheery smile. "There's no combat here yet. Oh, wait." The young Mugen realized he hadn't quite introduced his new comrade yet to his friends. Motioning at the group near him, he presented his ally from the Monkey Realm. "Hey team, this is Tengoku. He's an up-and-coming royal guard from whichever land he's from. I figured he could help us out." Ringo realized that intro alone would provoke a plethora of warranted questions, but time was of the essence. Tengoku swiftly interjected. "Hairless ape correct, hairless apes. Tengoku serves Master Hikari and trains to be Heavenly Guard. Tengoku is very pleased to meet Ringo's friends." The monkey bowed earnestly as Ringo grinned beside him.

"Tengoku, you and Master Hikari surveyed these lands recently to exterminate any violent beasts or critters. During your exploration of Godsfall, did you ever run into any blue, furry creatures? Or did you ever come across any ancient ruins?"

Tengoku nodded and spoke plainly. "Tengoku tell Ringo and friends everything." And whether it was useful information to the group or not, so he did.

Too many things were happening at once, Yuno wasn't certain how to stand out, or even how to lead. He was older than most of the people here, and yet it seemed like they were being more proactive in this situation, rather than reactive like Yuno has been. Yuno was intercepted when he attempted to check on the boy who seemed to be having stomach issues by another boy who seemed to know him better. Due to his concern over this boy he was caught unaware when the pit fell. As people sprung into action to help their friends and allies, Yuno stayed motionless, paralyzed in uncertainty.

His shade hadn't returned, nor did he feel his connection to it falter, so it wasn't attacked, it must have found nothing. Yuno let the jutsu fall away as he made his way toward the pit. Before he could follow down it, it raised, a jutsu brought forth from the leader of his group. Yuno attempted to examine the "finger" before it was burned away, releasing its stench into the air. "Oh gods, what was that?" he attempted to pinch his nose, realizing too late that he was simply pinching the beak of the mask, making him look silly. He kicked sand over the burning corpse, to give it a slightly less flaming burial, and to cover the sight.

"Alright so pit and..." He was once again interrupted when the kind boy summoned a monkey. Underneath his mask, Yuno's jaw dropped. 'He can just summon friends?' Thinking back to what he could do, he could mold shadows into creatures and command them, but that is different. Those creatures don't talk, nor do they have personalities. They're not good conversationalists. Though if this monkey, that talks... talking monkey. If this talking monkey knows more information about whatever creatures are out there, it could significantly help. Before the creature could start talking, Yuno raised a finger, barely up to eye level, to try and get everyone's attention.

"Maybe we should split up? We had been put into groups already." He moved over toward Moriko. "Goki said they wanted to explore the pit, and... uh..." He gestured over to Moriko, forgetting her name as he only heard it maybe once or twice. It was easy to remember Goki, since they seemed to speak of themself in the third person. "You mentioned the blue fur creatures. We'd probably learn more if we spread out a little. I can help scout too." As underneath his cloak, a strange blackness dripped into the sand below. Almost ink like until they formed a similar shadow creature than before. These, however, were numerous, four in total, but did look slightly thinner. Potentially weaker?

Without a gesture, each of the shadows quickly made their way toward the blue fur that Moriko pointed out. Realizing how much he spoke over the monkey, how bowed in apology. "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you so much."

This adventure was proving more educational than Shenlong had believed it would be. Where the others were observing and investigating their surroundings, the eyes and attentions of the young Oroku heir were intently placed upon his companions. Many of them were students in their own right but even with the limited experiences and skills they possessed they were far out ahead of what Shenlong himself could do with his own skills. His memories as a colossal dragon king were of little help to him in that regard-- dragons were magical beasts that were naturally in tune with the world around them and never needed to bother with things like molding chakra or concentrating on doing something fantastical. They weren't magical creatures, they were magic and as such they transcended mortal contrivances like hand seals and artifacts and ninja tools.

Shenlong however was not so lucky as to be a creature that transcended... anything. He was smart and quick for his age but didn't know the first thing about things like hand seals or shinobi training. In many regards, this was his very first class on those subjects and it was enlightening to watch the others around him "do their thing", so to speak.

As Uziuke brought the pair which had tumbled into a sinkhole back up from the depths of their misadventure, it seemed as though they discovered something which drew Shenlong's attention away from observing the others. He couldn't see exactly what it was from where he was mounted and so he slipped from his saddle with more than a little trouble, causing his sandrunner to shake its feathers in irritation as Shenlong dropped to the sands and managed to land on his feet before he made his way past the others to where the mouth of the ancient hallway was. Shenlong lacked any of the shinobi skills that the others possessed but there was a reasonable chance that this was something which might appeal to a strong suite of his and that was his extensive studies. About the only thing that Shenlong had been allowed to do for most of his life had been to study and read within the halls of his family's library and his guardian Tenza had been sent out on more than one occasion to acquire more texts regarding Wind Country mythology and history for him to slake his seemingly endless thirst for knowledge upon.

[Investigating the ancient hallway with hopes that perhaps I've read something about this sort of architecture before. History Check, perhaps?!]

"Goki… that's not…"

No, it wasn't a finger, but it certainly couldn't be what Kei thought it was either. Blinking hard to focus his eyes through the cloud of dust and sand, he wished he had paid better attention in his bestiary class last year. The smallest the could be was three feet tall, right? Was that full-grown, or from birth? More than that, if this was a baby, that would mean the mother had to be nearby. A hard swallow and tightening the grip on his kunai preceded a sudden shift in his analysis. 'It's a Tribble. Gotta be.' Before the teen could further inspect to confirm his new hypothesis and calm the fear he kept hidden, there was a cascade of chaos as Jintou and Ringo brought another rain of sand down on them in the pit. The sight of the two joining in at the ready brought a smile to his face. While he'd certainly made friends over his years in the academy, this seemed to be the beginnings of a different kind of bond. Training with classmates at the academy certainly wasn't the same as staring down death beside someone and emerging arm-in-arm on the other side of it. Suddenly, in the naivety of his youth and inexperience, Kei felt as though even if this finger did turn out to be what he'd feared that the three of them could look it in the eye if they stood together. They could take on the world if they wanted.

Reality check. As Uziuke raised the group from the depths, a glimpse through the sand of either a buried structure or a desert mirage brought Kei back to the present moment. Goki's declaration affirmed that he wasn't seeing things, and he backed up her claim with a nod before staring at what was undoubtedly actually a sandworm in the older shinobi's hand. Despite Uziuke's praise of his actions and a sparkle of pride as he mentioned the ANBU (which Kei knew little about except they were supposed to be rather elite), the moments that followed left him only able to stand and watch in admiration as his peers set to work. Uziuke with more powerful ninjutsu than Kei could currently dream of to rescue the group; Goki with a plan; Jintou coming alongside the wounded; Moriko with a report of blue-furred creatures; Yuno with a dispatch of shadowlings; Ringo with a summon of his contractual companion; even Shenlong with further inspection work of his own. Tengoku's arrival in particular left Kei in awe; he'd heard from his cousin the story of how he'd become acquainted with the monkey but when he'd pressed Ringo to summon him so he could meet him, the more rational Mugen had pointed out that he probably shouldn't abuse his contract where it wasn't needed. Yet, all this admiration would give way to an understanding he was all too familiar with - his own inadequacy.

Now was not the time to mope, but Kei did wish he understood what had happened to him back at the Craemotaris and if all the light that'd shone was truly his own. Maybe he could have assisted Shenlong inspecting in the dark if that were the case, but to attempt such a feat carried more risk than reward he was sure. And so, masking his disappointment and frustration, he came alongside Shenlong as the other boy sought to learn more about the structure beneath their feet. He wasn't sure how the student would feel about Kei assigning himself as his body guard, but if the crispy sandworm had been any indication, he anticipated none of them should be going at this alone.

"A sandworm hmm. Interesting. I didn't think I'd see one of those, even though Suna legend speaks about them so." The boy understood that the group was possibly in sandworm territory. This meant that the sands could easily give way and drop them into a pit, making them sandworm bait just as a moment ago.

Uzi looked to Jintou and Ringo as the duo plummeted to the ground. The pair recovered quickly, and Jintou tried to aid his comrades. He was a bit taken aback by Ringo's summoning technique, the small monkey jumping to the group's aid. "Still in the Academy, but already able to use the summoning technique. Remarkable." The kids only continued to impress Uzi. He wondered how far the students would go with their shinobi studies. If they continued to work together, as they had shown so far, the future of Suna would be bright.

Uzi noted it as he looked to Moriko. She mentioned something about blue creatures headed the groups way. The bird masked one created a few shadow clones to investigate the girl's case. Uzi arched his eyebrows, a look of ferocity on his face after hearing there was danger ahead. That, and Goki's information on a hidden ancient tunnel leading to who knows where gave Uzi a slight shudder. It seemed as though the group would have to make a decision, and they didn't have much time to ponder on it.

Before Uzi could throw out an idea he noticed Shenlong and Kei going for the tunnel. Uzi moved quickly, attempting to stand before them and blocking their path.

"Don't be so quick to go down that hallway." Uzi looked down the tunnel, sighing. "This tunnel could have been created by a creature. Diving in head first could lead us into a trap. I'll lead the way, but if I tell you two to get out of here, run." Uzi looked to the two before looking down the tunnel. He didn't have word with Raizo about the search, but he was sure Raizo could handle whatever was up above.

Uzi went through a few hand seals, a shadow in the tunnel took on human form. Once completing it's transformation, it looked just like Uzi. The original nodded, watching as the clone went ahead first. It would be the decoy for anything deep within the tunnel. The white haired Uchiha then created a light out of pure chakra. A sphere of purple chakra illuminated the immediate area, giving the group a bit of light for the tunnels ahead. He'd focus on the depths of the tunnel up ahead. Hopefully the Searchlight was enough to spot if there were any hidden dangers.

He hoped they weren't walking into a sandworm's nest.

"A finger? Good looking out, Ringo" he would say to the young one upon getting the progress report.

Moriko had, without prompting, created an eye and sent it off scouting. In this part of the day, Yuno would call forth a shadow creature to also go and survey. The rest of the students either got hit with misfortune, Goki, or lept quickly into action to save their friend, the remainder minus Shenlong. That said, once it seemed that a discovery had been made, Shenlong quickly rushed ahead to check out the walls. Ringo summoned a monkey, Jintou threw up, Uzi kept being cooler than the other side of the pillow... it was all just so, just so...

"YOU ALL ARE AMAZING!!!!"

His face would not even in the slightest hide his excitement about witnessing these young ones at work.

"Yuno, doing that sort of technique in this daylight, that's amazing! Ringo, a summons!? Goki, you found a weird worm--are you okay!? Just the fact that you all react so quickly, and to think some of you are still students?! No wonder the previous Daimyo had so much difficulty trying to eliminate this village, even you sprouting young'ns have this much actual talent... and just to think of your full potential... we should train when we get back--"

He would pause for a moment. Shaking his head, he would refocus, albeit he wouldn't forget all the new playmates that had now appeared before him.

"So weird furry creatures up ahead... kind of sound familiar but no idea how they would be out here--and an interesting hallway. Ok, so we can do the two teams approach, but before that--"

He would produce three headsets, tossing two to Yuno. "Yuno, you and Uzi determine however you want to split those up. I wasn't sure if you all brought a headset, so these are already set to our group channel, the same as this third one in my hands and the one already in my ear; frequency 131.1 We will try to stay as in much communication as we can, we should rendezvous back at this tunnel in... six hours? Six hours."

He would turn to the group of young'ns once more as he would point at Moriko and Kei. "Without originally knowing the full abilities you all could bring to the table, we made these groups. Upon seeing the work of Yuno and Moriko, it would be better to keep our two scouts in different groups. Moriko will join my grouping and continue using their eye in the sky. Uzi, you cool son of gun, please make use of Yuno's ability. I think he will do exceptionally well entering such a location. Kei, you will be trading places with Moriko, sorry Ringo... wasn't sure if family issues would arise splitting you two, but I think Kei makes a perfect addition on that team. Those of you traveling with Uzi--please listen to himself and your Second, Yuno. Be safe down there."

Pausing, his head would tilt slightly causing a shadow to cast over his eyes. "And... please, please, please... HAVE FUN!"

His expression would have a smile, but there would be a slight wince one perspective enough might discern from his eyes. He too, like the kids, wanted to go down into the spooky underground tunnel.

"Alright; Goki, Ringo, Moriko, and Jintou--it seems we got some dead inhuman bodies up ahead and potentially something very large. Neither of those sounds like the assigned task of finding a Swarm member... but still an adventure! Let's go learn about some more weird desert things! Group R.G.R.M.J., let's move out!"

And with that, the groups would split up. Turning to Goki, his Genin, he would hand her the other headset from the set of three he had produced earlier with a smile. "Second in command, if you think there is someone else who would be better suited to wear it, feel free to pass it along."

Turning to Ringo and his summon he would listen to see if the familiar could offer any insight into the creatures up ahead. He would then nod to Moriko, "Keep an eye out and lead us to those bodies."

OOC: For Event purposes; giving out three headsets (not taking up any inventory slots) to Goki, Yuno, and Uzi to either use themselves or to assign to another member.
