Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Indou was drawn in the world around him completely lost, this at first caused him a slight amount of panic but then as Gesshoku's spirit revealed itself to him and he was drawn even deeper within the cryptic confines of the blade he began to feel at ease, he could not say why but it felt as if he were sitting in a room with a grandfather and being read his favorite story the experience felt like home and it was something that his rage weary heart was in desperate need of.

A sigh came from the boy as his eyes closed momentarily then they reopened with a new focus about them as he reached for the book that was pulling his with something even greater than the force of gravity.

Yes, Gesshoku sama

he said as the pages sprang to life before him and he went about not only memorizing the words in his mind but how they felt when he said them and what they made his soul feel when the ancient text was recited. After a time he began trying to build simple sentences with the words

Inflecto pestilencia.... absorbeo pestilencia.... eradico pesilencia

each part was said while charging chakra through his hands the first was said as he molded his chakra and then struck forth, then he stuck out both hands and drew his arms back towards his own body as he said the second phrase then there was a larger build up of energy as his eyes opened and both arms shot out laterally and he said the final phrase. Indou would then take a deep breath and begin working the sentences in different ways hoping that Gesshoku would give some sign of either approval or direct him in more proper and potent uses.

The remnant of Gesshoku's soul within the blade was finally content, a student had presented himself with great potential and he was reviving the ancient rites. Flashes of battles with enemies foreign and inhuman passed within the spirit and pulsed through what remained of Gesshoku's heart. It was indeed time for a new warrior of the old ways to be born, he could pass on all that Gesshoku was and become something new other than a wraith. It was a hollow existence that he had tired of over the centuries and with the passing of the words of power he would begin the rites to grant Gesshoku's powers to this child. He might have the strength of will to use them and push onward and revive everything Gesshoku had once stood for. For now he would have to be a harsh task master and even when Indou got things right he would have to push him and punish him as if her were eternally wrong. It was the only way to create an infinite learning curve within him so that he would progress beyond himself.

"NO!! Start over! ... and say them each one by one with proper inflection and don't play around with your spirit energy, you will learn to channel it through a weapon soon enough. Right now you must master the words of the rites... after you have said them correctly we will begin your swordsmanship lessons."

The throne of bone. Something one would likely believe to exist only in garish nightmares. It was something too vivid, it doesn't seem real at all and yet here he was, wandering inside it, searching for something to catch his attention. He was only eleven after all and there's lots of time to explore. Lots of people swarmed at the recreation area and he did too for a while. That is, until his naturally anti-social trait made him feel extremely claustrophobic, due to the large number of people around him, that he could not help but wander around until he found himself in solitude. Or at least he thought so. He could hear faint sounds coming from somewhere. He, being the innocent and curious lad that he was, approached the sound, which apparently isn't too far away as it was just to his left, and he came inside and saw two people, if one can even be called that. He went inside a little and sat down, content to watch silently.

At his last movement Indou jumped from being startled

Ah... sorry master

he said looking like a five year old being chastised for getting into the candy, but he did not pout about being scolded if Gesshoku sama wasn't yelling at me then i wouldn't be worth his time he must have faith in my abilities or why would he waste his time... even if his time is infinite as the spirit of a blade but i must do better and follow his instructions perfectly no even better than that so that i can surpass his expectations and impress him down to his core Indou thought to himself as he began slowly reciting the words again this time without wasting any of his spiritual energy just memorizing how they felt and perfecting both his enunciation and intent when saying the incantations.

For Shinjo

Kuro got up to his feet upon the approach of another student, although tired from his ordeal of dragging the sentient blade from the depths of the vault he was recovering moderately well.He looked at Indou briefly before leaving his chamber and sliding the door closed behind him. Kuro stood at five feet, ten inches, weighing in at two hundred and eighty pounds. Kuro’s silver gray mane of hair had a reasonable amount of muscle mass to conceal. With a twenty one inch neck Kuro’s hair couldn’t conceal very much even as it cascaded to the center of his upper back. Violet eyes with gold slits peered from a chocolate brow with large ebony horns growing from where a normal man’s temples would be. He wore a sand tone obi around his thirty six inch waist. The obi allowed Kuro to carry his honor blade in a specialized bone sheath. Kuro wore his battle pouch on a second sash just above his right hip. Adjacent his sacred blade Kuro wore a pair of collapsed fuuma shuriken, and last but not least Kuro wore his leg sheath on the interior of his hakama just atop his fighting gi shorts with his ANBU serum and summon scrolls. A convenient cut in the silk cloth of his left hakama pants leg allowed Kuro full access to his ANBU items without showing exactly where it was till he motioned to grab it. Securing his anbu arm guards and leggings Kuro covered the runic terran markings of his hand and leg wraps. Kuro’s tail swished back and forth slowly as its movement was directly attuned to his energy levels, his tail's tiger stripes faintly surged with chakra. His black gi top concealed some of his overly muscular upper body.

"Welcome to the Toraono Dojo, I am Sennin Toraono Kuro, if you are here for training please sign in on the ledger book, and afterwards answer the questions on the separate entrance scroll roster."

The questions read:

"What do you want to learn?

What do you consider to be your greatest strength?

What is it that pushes you onward?

For Indou:

Gesshoku smiled faintly before stepping close to Indou inside his own mind but it felt very much real nonetheless. He whispered in a menacing manner as he looked straight ahead "VERY good pronunciation, now say each word and its definition, quickly, fluently, effortlessly, make these words your own. Do so and we shall begin your first lesson in sword arts."

This freaky looking person, Sennin Torono Kuro as introduced, finally noticed him, the little frail boy just wanting to be alone. But then again, he did wander toward these people on his own without any complaints so maybe he didn't really want to be alone. Maybe he just wanted to find someone worthy of his time? Or someone he might learn something from? Or maybe just someone who'll want to around someone as dull as him and give him lots of good times. Either way, he must stop getting distracted by such thoughts and focus not on the sennin's really curious tail but at the scroll given to him.</COLOR>
The scroll said:
What do you want to learn?

What do you consider to be your greatest strength?

What is it that pushes you onward?
<COLOR color="blue">

The boy sat back down right after bowing to the other in respect and began scribbling his answers. After some time, he held out the scroll as he watched the, apparently, tutoring lesson continued.

The scroll said:
What do you want to learn?
Bladesmithing, Iaijutsu and Kenjutsu

What do you consider to be your greatest strength?
My ambitiousness.

What is it that pushes you onward?
My determination and ambition to be the greatest bladesmith and Swordsman to grace the sands of Suna.

Kuro nodded before looking for Dr. Toa for a moment then he realized he could teach Shinji everything he asked for but he would have to take him to the forge chamber. That would also require Kuro and Shinji to don the protective armor for training and to enter the forge as the training blades used in the Toraono Clan could easily cause injury. The Forge Chamber also required that they not only ablate the heat but that they maintain their water intake. It was one of the main reasons Dr. Toa worked there, he used fire resistant, iron puppets.

"You have my full attention Shinji san. I believe that between my Uncle, my sisters, and I, that you can learn all you seek to know about weaponsmithing and swordsmanship."<i></i>

And so, Kuro agreed to teach him what he wanted to learn. At the very least, in the way of creating swords. This sennin Kuro will be his first steps toward realizing his goal. At the moment, he realized that, although Kuro will teach him a lot, it will probably be up to him and his individual skill and imagination to create the unique and legendary swords. He smiled at the thought. And then he'll be rich. He'll be rich using his own skills. He will soon be making swords for the Kages, the rich collectors, the samurai's roaming around. He will be the most legendary swordsmith there ever was.

"
What are we waiting for then? When do I start?" he uttered, foregoing calling his sensei's name whatsoever in favor of being enthusiastic - though his voice was still dull and cold - about starting his dream. He bowed before his would be sensei and looked around. "I would also like to learn how to fight with a sword too. I believe that the only way I can make the best swords is if I learn how to use one in battle. Otherwise, people may end up calling me names. Me creating swords without knowing how to use them, without knowing anything about them." Shinji said in all sincerity."So please teach me the way of the sword. Everything from using it to creating it." And then he bowed once more for he knew, this time, he was asking a favor. A favor on top of his other one would be troublesome in his own opinion.

As Aoi approached the towering structure of bone and iron, she stopped in awe of its unique architecture. The skeletons of the sandwyrms slain well before her time led her gaze along the dojo's organic form. One skull in particular stood out to her. The maw had been pried wide open, its broken jaw and cheek bones held tightly by metal rods, pins, and plates. A few of its fangs had been relocated, now embedded in the top of the skull itself.

Such was the power of Sentama Akumaru's Outrage. Although he had merely wounded the beast, the First Sentama had played a crucial role in the Toraono's own legacy, as it was Toraono Kaibudo who had chased after the wounded beast to its brood and slayed them all.

The Miko maiden grasped the medallion dangling from her neck, tracing the outlines of the symbol of her Sentama heritage as the memories of her ancestor became hers once more. A moment of silence passed before she uttered a short Shinto prayer, released her grip on the heirloom, and entered the Throne of Bone.

Kuro was preparing to escort Shinji to an armor rack with heat resistant gi's and wraps stored nearby when the scent of an elder bloodline entered the throne of bone. "We will hit the sword rack after gearing up, but first I must address a ancestral family ally."<i></i> Kuro set aside a set of training gear consisting of a helmet with visor, heavy gloves and shoulder pads, shin and feet guards along with leg, arm, and torso wraps. The heavy training gear would force Shinji to train his strength and speed up but it would also allow him to endure Kuro's attacks without true injury.

Kuro turned and approached the young Miko and once he was within eight footsteps of her he dropped to both knees and prostrated himself before the Priestess. "I, Toraono Kuro, Sennin of Sunagakure, Leader of the Main Branch of the Toraono Clan and Master of the Throne of Bone welcome your holiness of the Clan Sentama to our humble training hall. How may I assist you Lady Sentama?"<i></i>

The Toraono Clan was very religious and always respected those of the cloth, especially the Sentama Clan direct descendants of the Guardian Priests and Priestesses of the One King Primus.

Izayoi Aoi blinked a few times as Kuro welcomed her with a formality that was peculiar to her. Even more peculiar was that this man had known she was of the clan Sentama, though after a moment of thinking, she chalked this up to the symbol on her medallion.

"Thank you, Lord Toraono," she acknowledged him, her confusion hidden behind a calm visage. "Though I must admit I did not come here as a Miko, but rather as a student of the Grand Hall itself; a student seeking training by the very best."

Shinji followed the other to the armoury and nodded as the other went out to greet some new person. He changed into the armour, which he had to admit was very heavy, and neatly folded his clothes into one neat pile and placed it at one clean place in the armoury. At the moment, he had already reached a state of calmness he worked on whilst he was changing. His head was void of any thought. He just walked calmly, though a bit strained if only for the heavy armour, outside of the changing room and bowed in respect to the newcomer as he saw his sensei bow down to her.

"
Greetings. It is an honor to meet someone my master respects so much. I am Tategawa Shinji. Forgive me Miko-sama but I do not know your name." he muttered - Miko-sama as he overhead her reply to his master -, still bowing down, waiting for permission to be at ease.

Aoi looked upon the younger boy, her expression still calm and patient. He had black hair and white skin not unlike her own, though it seemed to her that his brown eyes didn't shine nearly as well as her own granite eyes. His composure was calm and well kept as well, despite being burdened with the bulky training armor.

Could he be a descendant of First Man Sentama Akumaru? The only trait he is missing are the gray eyes.

"No need for formalities," she acknowledged him as well as she motioned for both of them to rise. "I am Izayoi Aoi, descendant of First Man Sentama Akumaru and his wife Kamiko. But feel free to just call me Aoi."

Kuro stood up and ushered her inside " I apologize for the wait Shinji san, allow me to finish signing in Aoi-san and we shall see if I can't get both of you set up properly for training. Now for you Miss Aoi... since you are here for training please sign in on the ledger book, and afterwards answer the questions on the separate entrance scroll roster."<i></i>

The questions read:

"What do you want to learn?

What do you consider to be your greatest strength?

What is it that pushes you onward?

Aoi nodded as she went over to the ledger book and signed her name in it. She then walked over to the roster on the scroll, translating the text and absorbing the questions.

"What do I want to learn?" she mentally repeated as she stared coldly at the paper. Well, I want to learn how to fight . . . but that seems a bit simple. Why would I want to fight properly? To defend myself and others from evil? But what if this training prevents me from restraining my Outrage? Would I then be forced to choose between the well being of myself and the well being of those I care about?

After a moment of silent reflection, Aoi wrote on the piece of paper, "I seek to defend myself from those with ill intentions and to protect the innocent and repentant from those who prey on so-called weakness."

"What do I consider my greatest strength?" Well, this is a lot easier than the first one. No doubt the Shinto principles have granted me the resolve to control my Outrage, as well as given me a goal in life."

She quickly scribbles the words down, "My faith in Kami and his Shinto ways."

"What is it that pushes me onward?" . . . I wonder how much detail I should put here. I mean, Zansatsu could strike during my lifetime, or it could not . . . which makes claiming to be destined to slay it once and for all a dishonest statement. . . . I'll go ahead and play it safe, yet stating firmly what I believe in."

Her final words on the paper: "The desire to prepare myself and future generations to combat an ancient evil."

With much difficulty - all thanks to his armour -, Shinji rose to his feet, his face passive from meeting a stranger he doesn't quite trust yet. His eyes suddenly cold, scrutinizing this girl. She may be Miko but to Shinji, she's a complete mystery and until he knew her, he would see her in a cold light.

"
Pleased to meet you Izayoi-Miko-san." he mechanically muttered, moving to stand aside until the Miko went inside. He then walked behind them, adjusting his body to the extra weight. He nodded at his sensei as the man made to give the girl the same scroll. He proceeded to sit down, breath slowly, and conserve his strength. He did not want to use his chakra yet, not that he has learned how to already.

"
Of course, sensei." he replied as he chanted his mantra to keep himself from exhaustion.

'Slow, steady breaths
Slow, steady breaths'

Kuro read over her answers and nodded all of her responses were more than suitable for a servant of the Gods. Content with her belief in herself Kuro took her with them as they headed to the blade training room. "Lady Izayoi, Shinji san pick a weapon that you feel would be appropriate to you and we will begin your training."<i></i>

The blades before them were well cared for, each sword and its matching blade companion were exquisitely balanced, even though they were training weapons they could actually be deemed mission worthy. The heavy wooden training sheaths housed blades fine enough to cut the links of fine armor. Kuro pulled the racks out from the wall so they could walk through all twelve rows of sixteen paired weapon sets per rack. The tatami mats were smoothed from years of students progressing through the chamber but the weapons almost smelled knew, the blade oil, the wooden sheaths the leather wrapped grips.

Aoi strolled between the racks, examining each sword and blade as best as someone with no real combat knowledge could. She unsheathed one or two and touched the edge of the blades with her fingertip, verifying that they were well-cared for.

I honestly have no idea what to look for in a weapon. Probably something suited for defense . . . but most, if not all of these look like they were made for attacking.

The young Miko turned towards Kuro-sama and asked, "What kind of weapon would you recommend for defense?"

Shinji nodded at Kuro as both he and this girl were sent to pick out weapons. Shinji excitedly ran toward the rack, despite the heavy costume that was his armour, eyes admiring the handsome set of art laid before him. He ran his hands through each sword's handle, admiring the craftsmanship that went into making those handles, the lines he imagined he wanted to carve in there, the kinds of wood he imagined should be there, the weight of the wood and even the scent. Oh how exciting it was to think of such things! And truly, the happiness and excitement shows on his face as a huge grin, his eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. His eyes darted onto the scabbard and his enthusiasm flowed out once more, ogling and caressing the swords for a huge time before he remembered he was supposed to pick a sword. He looked at the swords, unsheathing and sheating a few to get a feel of its weight, length for a few minutes before settling for a simple sword almost two shaku in length, shoto as far as length classifications go. However, aside from that, he didn't know much else. All he knew was that the sword seemed long enough to gain enough reach but short and light enough to not hinder him so much in movement in addition to his armour. Hence, he proceeded toward Kuro-sensei but not before uttering a small piece of opinion to the girl.

"
I would advise to getting a Kodachi. Because of its size, it could be drawn and swung extremely quickly. Thus, it could be used as something of a shield, while using a form of hand to hand combat to attack. Its just my opinion though."

Standing before Kuro, he bowed momentarily in respect. "
I am ready, sensei." Sword tied on his waist, his face returned to being passive, as did his eyes, waiting for what happens next.
